It's always there, just lingering in your mind, the doubt, a strong and annoying feeling. Why do I feel it you may ask, well, it's been 3 years since I simply was yanked out of my world and got here in this weird magical horse land, in a little town called ponyville I think, a purple pony with wings and a horn approached me and simply talked, yeah, imagine my face when I discovered that those ponies not only talked but could also fly and do magic, REAL MAGIC. Anyway, her name was Twilight and apparently, she was the princess of friendship? How can you be a princess of a concept beats me. She just made some questions and wrote a letter to someone, or if you may somepony heh, I chuckled at that not gonna lie. Anyway, the letter was for a pony called Celestia, basically the god of ponies and their ruler. And well, she was, something alright, regal, white as snow, a mane that flows with.... uhh... nothing? Look, physics isn't my cup of tea, but I'm certain that hair can't flow like that. Well, after some small talk she decided to get me to the royal castle in Canterlot, it's not like a I had a choice, so I just accepted. There she explained to me the basics of this world and how she wasn't really all that surprised to see a human, apparently, she has a mirror that sends ponies to another another dimension with humans, mind you, not my dimension, cause apparently their people can be pink. But still, it's a human world, and even though she wasn't supposed to use that mirror she did a couple of times, got to know how the human society works. After some hours, in the evening, she told me to meet her sister, a pony called Luna, another goddess and ruler of their world, and she can move the moon, oh yeah, I kinda forgot to mention how Celestia moves the sun and Luna the moon, no, I didn't dare to question it. Well, Luna was, for a lack of a better word, cold, distant even. Late at night I couldn't sleep, I was always a night type of person but usually I could sleep well, maybe the shock of being in another world finally set in, so I just decided to walk around the castle until I feel sleepy, after a couple of minutes I met Luna in the throne room.... alone. I decided to talk to her. "Hi, your majesty" I said quietly. "Oh, Anon, I wasn't expecting you to be awake this late" Luna responded regally. "Well, I was supposed to, but sleep just left my body without a message, maybe it finally settled that I just got sucked in another world without even saying goodbye to my friends and family" I said grimly. "I see, to be honest, we, I mean, I can relate to that, it's not really the same thing, but I was banished to the moon for a thousand years, and just 2 years ago I came back, and things were, different, almost like I was not in the world I knew anymore" Wait, a thousand years? I couldn't believe that, but she said with so much conviction and sadness, that I just believed it. "Huh, so we both are kinda outcasts of this world" I said with a chuckle. "Also, why were you so grumpy earlier? Not to be rude or anything, but back then you were cold and distant, but now, you ware sweet and caring" I said shooting her with a confused look. She makes a grumpy face, cute. "Well, you would also be grumpy when you don't get your full time of sleep for 3 days straight, and also, I don't know how to act around my sister" she said while her grumpy face turned into a sad one. "After a thousand years away from her, I kinda forgot how we talked to each other, not only that but she is different from back then" she took a quick pause to take a deep breath. "Even after 3 years since my return, I feel like she still has some resentment for what I did" Taking a couple of minutes to collect my thoughts, I simply chuckled. "Have you even talked to her about this? I mean, for sure she misses you, after we meet she apologized a lot because of your grumpy mood, saying things like "she isn't like that usually" or "I'm so sorry for your first impression of Lulu being that", and after that she banged her head on a wall for a good 5 minutes for telling me your secret nickname " I said with a cheeky smirk on my face. "So, Lulu, have you ever talked to her about how you feel?" A wide smirk on my face, teasing a goddess, what a wild ride. "First thing, call me Lulu again and I will crush your skull" she said with eyes that seemed to stare my soul, took all my might to not wet myself. "Second, no, I haven't talked to her about it, our schedules make it almost impossible to do so" The face she was making is almost unreadable, looks like a mix of regret and sadness. "Wait, you two never had a break? It's the whole year working nonstop? Now I'm not surprised why you two seem so tired and well, grumpy". This is unbelievable, the rulers and technically the gods of this land never had a break, I can only imagine how much stress these two have gathered along the years. "We can't leave our ponies without our guidance or protection, they need us to be there when the time comes" she said so royally that I remembered that right know I'm talking to a princess, how did I even forget that? It's not like I know her, this is the first time I meet her, technically the second. "Even just a day once a week? Don't they have the royal guard for protection, the elements of harmony, and well, 2 other princesses? I mean, I don't know the other one, but Twilight seems nice, a little too nerdy, but she seems like a god woman". "Pardon?" Luna said with confusion on her face. "What? Did I say something wrong?" "Well, not really, at least I don't think so, but what's that woman thing you were talking about?". A questioning look on her face. Oh yeah, only Celestia and Twilight know about humans, ponies don't really know about how we talk. "Oh yeah, sorry, I forgot that you don't know anything about humans, well, a woman would be the same as a mare in here, and a man the same as a colt" I explained to her. "Ah, I see, but still, I don't know if the guard or Twilight is up for the task, she has only been a princess for a couple months at most, she is not ready for something like that". "Doesn't hurt to try does it? I mean, make a test, for a month you and Celestia will overwatch her as she takes your places in the Sunday". "I will consider it, but we have a more pressing matter on our hoof right now". "And what would that be?" I shot a curious glare at her. "You". She said almost emotionless. "Me? What do you mean?" A feeling of dread came to me, I'm not sure why though, these ponies seem nice, they wouldn't do anything to me right.... right? "Well, you see, you don't belong in this world, but until further notice you will live here for the time being, we are not even certain if we could send you back to your world safely" A short pause came, she was apparently thinking of what to say next. "We would like to give you a choice, you seem like a good colt, I mean, man, and quite knowledgeable" "And what would that choice be?" A curious look was on my face, this is actually quite interesting, if one of the princesses is actually complimenting me, that kinda felt good. "The choice is simple, you can chose a town, any town, of our land to live, we would give you a house and enough bits to live for a couple of months while you search for a job, you would live a normal life, well, as normal as it could be with you being from another world" Interesting, this seems like a good deal, but what's the other option? "What's the other option?" "You could live here, in the castle" Hold up, this seems like a trap. "And what's the catch?" I deadpanned. "What do you mean my dear human" Luna said trying to do puppy eyes, jokes on you, that doesn't work on me! "I mean, living in a giant castle? With food, a bed, and everything else for free? Yeah, I don't bite it" Luna clicked her tongue, a frustrated look on her face, seems that I dodged a bullet here. "You are way more cunning that I thought" Luna sighed. "The catch would be that you would need to work in the castle" Well thar doesn't sound too bad, cleaning is easy peasy, I'm quite decent on the kitchen, and thank God that my father was a soldier, his training would come in handy here. "Hm, work here on the castle? Doesn't sound that bad, what would I even do though?" "Simple, you would help me and my sister with our daily, or nightly in my case, chores!" She said with so much excitement, almost like a child who got what she wanted on Christmas. And what would that chores be?" I asked a little annoyed, sure work directly to the princesses could be nice, but that also means that I would be working almost 24/7. "Oh, nothing too serious, just helping us to deal with some nobles, guarantee that we are on schedule, make us take a break or two during the day, and helpusdecidesomenewlaws" she said the last part so fast and quietly that I didn't understand. "What did you say in that last part?" I said worried. "Oh, nothing important" she said with a fake smile on her face, she didn't learn the first time. "Luna, are you really trying to trick me again?" She blushed and shook her head like those bubbly head car decorations, it's kinda cute to be honest. "No, never, I just...." a heavy sigh left her. "As part of your work, you will need to help us with laws of the land, we need help mainly with laws about other species in equestria" A tinge of guilt on her expression. "Unfortunately, me and my sister don't really know what to do regarding them, we want to befriend other species, but we fought so many wars with them that we can't be impartial with them". "I see.... I will be completely honest with you here princess, I'm not the right person or pony for this, I have no knowledge about politics, economics and stuff like that, but..." "I can try, the other species problem I already have some ideas actually". "SPLENDID! WE SHALL WELCOME YOU WITH OPEN HOOVES MY FRIEND ANON!" I think that I have gone deaf, how can a little horse pack so much punch with their voice. "Oh, we are so sorry, we didn't mean to use our royal Canterlot voice on thee" she said almost as worried as my mom was when I broke a bone for the first time. "Don't worry, the ringing is almost stopping.... I think." I can barely hear her. Out of nowhere a golden light appeared and as quickly as it did it also disappeared, and now a tall withe pony with a teddy bear or her wings took it place. "Dear Lulu, can I ask you why in Tartarus are you using the royal Canterlot voice at 2 and a half in the morning?" Oh god, Celestia seems pissed. "We are so sor-" "Dialect Luna" Celestia intervened "I'm so sorry dear sister, I couldn't control myself, our dear friend here accepted my offer to work with us to make equestria a better place for other species!" Why does a black horse seem so cute when excited. "Excuse me, what?" Oh shit. "Hey, look at the time, it was nice talking to you Luna, but I think that I will hit the hay now, bye" I rushed to the door, almost leaving, but then, a golden aura surrounded me and pulled me back. "Oh, you won't mister, we have a lot to talk about" Welp, I think that I'm good as dead now. Author's Note So hey, this is the first time I actually wrote anything like this, was bored at work so this came up in my mind. I'm not sure if I will do more chapters, for now it's just this one. The first meeting Part 2So, it seems that they don't want me dead, for now at least. But Celestia doesn't seem so happy with the news. "Luna, why would you hire someone you barely know to help us rule our kingdom?" Celestia said with a disappointed tone to her voice. "Sister, this human is a kind soul, after our talk I got to let out a side of myself I couldn't bring out for hundreds of years, I know what I'm doing" Luna responded pouting like a small child, cute. Celestia sighed and looked at me, her eyes burning with distrust, then she looked back at her sister. "Luna, you know that we can't just blindly trust some pony just like that, you know how change-" Celestia stopped abruptly, almost like something just clicked on her mind. "Um, Celestia, are you alright?" I asked, worried... mostly about myself. "Anon, can I ask you a question?" Celestia said coldly, man, I don't wanna die now, I just turned 20, I still have a lot to live for. "I mean, you just asked one, but sure, go on" I laughed nervously, that try to lighten the mood worked as well as using a sunglasses at night. "Do you know what changelings are?" A changeling? Is that some type of food? Doesn't sound tasty though. "No, I don't know what a changeling is" I said honestly, can't lie about something you never heard about. Celestia simply hummed, doesn't seem like she believed me. "I see, you know, changelings are vile creatures, they feed on love energy, they can change their looks to perfectly mimic some pony, even the voice, their queen, Chrysalis, is especially dangerous, she can do everything the others can, but she is also as powerful as me with enough love energy, she can brainwash others, and who knows what more" Celestia said grimly, with a tinge of rage and disgust. But wow, these things sound dangerous, and a full meal to paranoic people, but one question still stands on my mind, why is the telling me this? Surely, she doesn't think that I'm one of those right? Oh fuck. "Celestia, what are you implying?" Luna asked, she is looking at me like how you look at a child who did something wrong. "Oh, my little moonlight, nothing really, just that maybe this little human here, might be queen Chrysalis herself." Yep, my end is near, I had a good life, I had.... wait, my life was shit, I don't want to die a loser. "Now wait a second, how would I be that queen you are talking about if you just said that only you, Twilight and that Sunset Shimmer knows about humans? How would Chrysalis know about them?" I'm beyond sweating now, I don't think I have water on my body anymore, if I don't get smited here, I will probably die of dehydration. "Fair point, but we don't know much about the changelings, we don't know if they have spies on our castles, or in other worlds for that matter." Man, how the hell will I get away here. "Isn't there a way to check if he is a changeling or not sister?" Thank God that Luna is here. "Well, maybe Twilight might have found a way to do so, but I don't know any, from what I remember, they turn back to their original form if they are hit hard enough, we can try that!" Ah hell nah, I'm not getting zapped or bucked into oblivion, fuck that. "You know what, fuck this shit" Then I started running for my dear life, without success of course, Celestia just grabbed me with her magic, again, this is bullshit. "Come on my little human, no need to use those horrible words, we will just give you a little zap, you won't die at least I think so ". "What" Both me and Luna asked at the same time. Then, Celestia zapped me, and it hurt, like a lot, it's almost as bad as a taser, actually it's worse than a taser, I blacked out. I woke up the next morning, in the bedroom they gave me for the night, my body was sore and my head hurts like hell, almost like I'm having the worst hangover of my life, oh, there is a letter on the bedside table. "Dear Anon, I'm so sorry for what I did to you on our prior encounter, I would personally be there on your room when you woke up to apologize but duty calls, there should be a change of clothes right beside this letter, after you finish your morning routine, ask the guard on your door to take you directly to me. Sincerely Princess of the Esquestria Diarchy, Celestia" Well, that was something, might as well get ready for the day. After 30 minutes of getting ready I take a glance on the letter again. "A personal guard huh". When I open the door, I see a royal violet pegasus mare with a sky blue mane with white stripes, she bares a stoic feature, same as every single guard on this castle, but now that I think about it, isn't every single guard here a white unicorn stallion? Weird. Then she looks at me, with emerald green eyes, ok, those are beautiful. "Hey there Anon, right?" I simply nod. "The princess told me to be your personal guard while you stay here on the castle, at least for the day, I think that princess Luna chose one for the night shift, not really sure" She then takes a pause to exhale "Any questions you might have?" "Just one, not to be rude or anything, but isn't every royal guard a white unicorn stallion?" She chuckles at that. "Well, yes, that's why I'm not a royal guard silly human" she says whit a smirk. "You are not?" "Nope, I'm a member of the EUP, basically an elite military group of equestria" She then realizes something "Ah shit, I forgot to introduce myself" "Captain Zephyr of the third pegasi branch of the EUP, at your service" She makes a salute with her wings. "Also, sorry for the bad language" "Meh, don't worry about it, you can be yourself when we are alone, I also have a bad mouth problem, I just control myself around most people." She seemed to relax at that. "Thanks, Celestia for that, to be honest I was a little worried you would be one of those stuck-up ponies who seems to have a stick up their asses all the time, but I see that you are one of my kind" "Well then, let's get going, I need to talk to Celestia about some stuff that happened last night" I said almost tone deaf, I'm still mad about it. "Seems that you had a tough first night here on the castle huh?" "You could say that, was all fine until the sunbut princess came out of nowhere" "Hey, watch your mouth, I might be a little less patriot than most of the guard but I'm still part of the military" she said with a relaxed tone, seems that she is just teasing. "Keep that for when the princess is near hoof licker" "Motherfu-" "Oh, hey we reached the throne room" "How do you even know? Isn't this your second day at the castle?" She said with a confused look on her face. "I wondered here last night; I still remember how I got here" Zephyr just sighed. "Let's get this over with" I said determined to get some apologies. Zephyr asks me opening the other half of the door, until she just stops with a shocked look on her muzzle. "Not again" she says almost whining. "What is that thing?" The changeling queen asks with a disgusted look pointing a hoof at me, rude. "Hey, didn't your mom thought you that it's rude to point at others?" I said with a sarcastic tone and a smirk on my face. "IT TALKS" Chrysalis said with genuine fear. Man, I'm not that ugly, or am I? "Stop right there criminal scum" said Zephyr hm, where have I heard that before? "You broke several laws of equestria with your actions, surrender or you will face the consequences!" a brave face on her muzzle, but she doesn't look intimidating, actually, she is smaller than most ponies now that I take a look at her. "You and what army little pest?" said Chrysalis with a snarl. "I don't need an army to take you down foul creature!" welp, my respect for Zephyr suddenly vanished, how will a little pegasi defeat a creature who was able to defeat Celestia? One of the most powerful beings in this world. But then she charged at Chrysalis, and immediately got shot by some kind of slime that made her a pony burrito. "Congratulations genius, you really are one of the best soldiers I have even seen" I said sarcastically while slowly clapping my hand. "Fuck off" was everything I got from her. "Well then, now that this little pest got delt with, what in tartarus are you?" Again, with the pointing, really? Doesn't she have any manners at all? "Well, I'm Anon, a human, a pleasure to meet you Chrysalis" this is going to be weird. "A hyoo-man? I bever heard of such creatures my whole life! Stop lying already" Chrysalis said with a snarl, if she wasn't a bug pony, I would probably mistake her for a dog. I sighed "Because I'm not really from this world you know? Somehow, I got here and can't go back, the princess you have there on that cocoon thing was hosting me, so, I will kindly ask you to give her back, please?" "NEVER, my plan finally worked, now I'm the queen of all Equestria, and no one can stop me, NO ONE" a mad laughter echoed through the throne room. "Look here bug lady, I just want to have a peaceful life for once, so I won't ask again, free up Celestia and everyone else" I said with a strict tone, that somehow made Chrysalis flinch. "And what will a little pitiful hyoo-man like you would do" welp, time to get out the big guns. I started running towards Chrysalis like a madman, she charged a magic bolt who I somehow was able to dodge, it was like that for a couple of minutes, until I was face to face with her. "GET AWAY FROM ME YOU VILE THING" Chrysalis said shivering like a child after watching a horror movie. "Will you free everyone?" I said in a serious tone. "NEVER" was all she said. "Then, face the consequences" Then I started to pet her.... what? What else am I supposed to do? From what I heard friendship and shit is the most powerful thing here, it's worth a shot. "You have got to be fucking with me" I hear Zephyr say on my back. "What are you doing?" Chrysalis asked. "Petting you" I deadpanned. "Stop" "No" This was a back and forth for around, 15 minutes or so, until she got annoyed, and seemingly pleased with what just happened. "Ok fine I will get them all out" she said pouting. "Finally" I said triumphantly, so is stooped petting her. "WHO SAID YOU COULD STOP" and now I'm petting her again. "I will get them out, but with a couple of conditions" oh boy, here we go. "I can't promise anything, but sure, go on" "First, I want to live in the castle, in the same room as you" excuse me, what the fuck? "Second, you will always be at my side" the fuck? "Third, I want my little changelings to be equestrian citizen" at least this one makes sense. "And lastly, I want YOU to be my colt friend" I want to die. "Hold the fuck on, the first and third one sure, I can probably talk Celestia out, but be your colt friend? I barely know you for fuck's sake" I said annoyed with all of this. "But you petted me" Chrysalis said with her ears folding back, couldn't hear what she said, but damn, this was cute. "What did you say there?" I simply asked. "NOTHING" she took a deep breath "Fine, I will do your way, I will conquer your love by myself!" She said proudly, fuck, now I will have a bug horse lady trying to get into my pants. "Whatever, just let everyone out" After a couple of minutes everyone was freed from their cocoons, Celestia pulled me to the side and asked. " I don't know what you did, but well done, now I just have to get her off guard" Celestia almost snarled. "Can't let you do that princess" I said disappointed with myself. "What?" "I kind of promised her some stuff". 5 minutes of boring explanation later, and a room that is probably around 40 degrees Celsius right now, Celestia simply said. "Fine, we will do your way, BUT you will be with during all of the talk about changeling citizenship" God damnit. After a few hours of explaining the whole castle including a pissed Luna that almost blew off half of the castle grounds, we four are sited in a round table facing each other in silence for the past 20 minutes, at least they aren’t trying to kill each other. The silence was broken by Luna of all ponies. “We can’t let you and your changeling roam like you ware before in equestria, we will need laws and rules for our species to cooperate” Luna is right, the changelings have some powerful magic that we can’t ignore, transforming into other creatures is too dangerous to be free to use. “Lay the rules both of you want us to follow, me and my future spouse will evaluate them” I hate this already, at least Luna and Celestia chose to ignore that part. “First of, no changing into other creatur-” “No” Chrysalis interrupted Celestia, this will be a long meeting. “What do you mean by No?” Celestia asked, not really pleased with the situation. “How else are my changelings supposed to feed without that ability? We need to morph into other ponies to their love energy for us” “That’s what we want to prevent, your race needs to get love energy by other means, maybe try to be friendly, some of our ponies might give love energy freely, we know about a certain changeling that is living with my niece on the crystal empire, he doesn’t need to feed of others” Celestia is actually trying to help Chrysalis, this is new. A loud sigh could be heard from Chrysalis “Thorax, that little one was always a pain in the flank” she then took a pause to drink some water “But I see your point unfortunately, but this will be harder than there, most of the crystal ponies didn't even know about us, the only real problem was the pink one and her succul- I mean, spouse” The hell was that supposed to mean? “I’m going to choose to ignore that last part, but we do see a problem on our approach, mainly here in Canterlot, ponies still hate your species for what you did in my niece wedding day” Celestia tapped a hoof on her chin “But I may have an idea, what you need is a positive view on changelings to overshadow your past actions, the problem is, what could you do?” The room, silent again, but not the angry silence from before, it’s the type of thinking silence. “I might have an idea” I said after some time thinking. “Well, share it with us” Celestia said. “Well, the problem is that the past actions were a problem, right? And from what I was told from Chrysalis perspective, most of the reason behind that attack was the love shortage your hive had right?” I asked looking at Chrysalis. “Yes, we had a pretty bad shortage of love energy at that time, we were able to stabilize it after a couple of weeks but still, changelings almost died of hunger because of it” Chrysalis said with a sad tone on her voice. “Then, that’s your answer, make a public apology to canterlot citizens, tell your motives behind the actions, and say what you plan next, an integration between ponies and Changelings” after I got some weird looks, I simply add “Ponies seem to be chill, I mean, a weird creature appears in the middle of their town and they just welcome it with open hooves” “You might be right Anon, our little ponies are quite forgiving creatures, look at our example, once we tried to conquer equestria and kill our sister, but they simply forgave me” Luna added with a warm smile. “Thats our plan then, any problems with it Chrysalis?” after Celestia said those words we all look at Chrysalis, she simply shot us a fanged grin and said. “It’s not perfect, but it might suffice, we changelings can be quite deceiving creatures, I might be able to make a fake apology that they will accept” she said proudly. All other ponies and human, on the room smacked their hoofs or hand on their faces with a unanimous groan. “What? I said something wrong?” Chrysalis is actually confused by this, well, who said that it would be this simple? At least your life won’t be boring anymore. Author's Note Here we are, chapter 3 of whatever how many I will do, a introduction to another cast memeber. This was the hardest chapter to write until now, cause I din't know what to do with Crhyssi, a mad queen or cute bug waifu, then I decided to do a little of both, insipiration to this was the "Pony/Changeling courtship Rituals" Chrysalis, where she is both a pain the the butt but also cute as all hell. Anyway, you know the drill already, any errors just comment I will take a look. Not sure where I will take this story now, may take longer to write a new chapter, who knows. Since now you basically live with one of the most feared enemies of all Equestria, she isn’t the nicest mare you have seen, but she isn’t really evil either, mostly just an asshole, doing pranks here and there, scaring the poor servants of the castle and how can I forget? Trying to fucking poison Celestia and Luna. Thank God they are immortal, the only thing they feel is a little stomach ache, once the poison was so strong that Celestia actually puked on the spot, I was scared as all hell, but also intrigued, Celestia pukes fucking rainbows. Anyway, after our first meeting we had a bunch more of them, things were getting better, Chrysalis now actually felt bad for the invasion of the wedding that day, the public apology will take place tomorrow actually, the pranks toned down, poisoning is only taken place on Sundays (trust me, that is an improvement), and she is trying to be nice, trying being the key word. Since I’m the royal advisor now, I was the one in charge of, hm, how can I say it, babysit Chrysalis and make sure she doesn’t do anything evil, not my proudest moment to be honest. My train of thought was broken by Zephyr. “Soo... how is it going with the bug lady?” Zephyr asks nonchalantly. “What do you mean?” I mean, I know what she is talking about, but I want to make sure exactly what she wants to know. “Well, you know, sleeping in the same room as her, teaching her how to be a better pony and stuff like that, I’m kinda curious you know.” Ah, that. “Well...” I’m not sure of what to say to be honest, our relationship is complicated. Then I look to my left and a see an unexpected second pony right behind me. “Who are you?” I simply ask, looks like a solar guard, but who knows. “Private First-Class of the Solar Guard Lightning Shot reporting for duty sir!” The pony does a quick salute on my direction. “And what are you doing here?” This is suspicious. “Our majesty Celestia asked me to accompany you today sir” Ok, something is up, Celestia doesn’t do stuff without asking me. “Ah, I see, you know, you are getting good on fooling me Chryssi, but you forgot the Celestia never does anything without communicating to me beforehand” I have the biggest eat shitting grin on my face right now. “UGH, you are really annoying you know” a green flame engulfing the once white unicorn stallion now transforming into a big bug lady. “And what did we talk about taking other ponies form to spy on others?” “I wasn’t spying!” she takes a pause bearing her fangs at me. “Fangs Chryssi” she flinches and became a little red on her muzzle. “Sorry” she simply mutters. “I was simply curious of uh, whatever you two were talking about” let’s say I believe she didn't know we were talking about her. “I see, we were just talking about how we will take you for a quick stroll around Canterlot, to interact with some ponies and for them to get used to your presence” I said jokingly, I mean, there is a plan for that, but only after her public apology tomorrow, we can’t rush stuff you know. “Oh, uhm, it would be nice to do so but I just received a message from one of my changelings that they need me today, sorry bye!” She ran off quite fast, didn't know she could be that fast to be honest. Then I look back at Zephyr, she has her mouth open agape with surprise. “As I was about to say, Chrysalis isn’t that bad of a pony really, I mean, sometimes she gets out of hand but still, she respects me and my decisions, and some of Celestia too” a sigh escaped me “Luna on the other hand... they just compete” “Compete?” Zephyr asks “Yeah, mostly prank wars, it can get really chaotic sometimes, I still remember when both Luna and Chrysalis glued each other flanks on their chairs during breakfast with super glue, it wasn’t pretty” “How the fuck I never learned about any of that stuff? As I take a look at Twilight, I see that her horn not only has a bright lavender glow that I have never seen her with but it’s also crackling with lighting around it. Alright, fun is over. Then I proceeded to do some of the stupidest things in my entire life, scoop up a powerhouse of a pony like a dog while putting a hand on her horn to turn the magic off like I was blowing a birthday candle. “Twilight, stop,” I said with a serious tone, she looked at me with a pouting face fit for a baby. “But she is trying to take hold of Equestria,” she says while whining and pointing a hoof at Chrysalis, who got bored with the interaction and it’s just eating some salad, smooth Chryssi, smooth. “Who said that I'm trying to rule this land?” she stops talking taking a bite of a tomato “I don’t want to be like Celestia, those nobles are a pain in the flank, can’t deal with them for a day, imagine for years!” not gonna lie, she has a point there, these nobles do be a pain in the ass. “This Chryssi, is why I asked you to not do anything stupid, but you did anyway” A heavy sigh left me “Look Twi, Chrysalis is now, uh, a decent enough pony” A loud hey with a squeak was heard in the back. “What do you mean? Don’t tell me she is brainwashing you...” I just look at her confused. “Wait, she can do that? You can do that Chryssi?” the sound of a fork hitting the platter was heard “Guilty” she simply said “I can indeed do it, but for some weird reason it doesn’t work on you or the alicorn princesses, it’s not for a lack of try” excuse me, what the fuck? “And you never bothered to tell me that changelings could do that?” I just shot a death glare at her. “I never said that every changeling could do that, only I can do that,” she says proudly. “What a pain in the ass, anyway, she is now trying to be better, the event she was talking about it’s her public apologies, not a plan to take the throne, at least I hope so, because if she tries to do that, she knows what will happen” I hear she squeak like a rubber duck, cute but it’s also telling that she doesn’t want to be tickled to death as she puts it. “Did she, no it can’t be, Chrysalis doing an imitation of Flutershy? This is priceless” After saying this Twilight proceeds to laugh like Pinky usually does, which is kinda unsettling. “Alright laugh it off, you would do the same if he did the same to you,” Chrysalis says pouting. “And what did he do to you?” tears streaming down her eyes from too much laughing. “He tickled me, a lot, for 10 minutes nonstop” another crazy laugh from the lavender alicorn later. “It can’t be that bad, right?” She just looks at me, I shrug. “What’s going on here?” Ah, Zephyr, I was thinking what took her so long to arrive. “Hey Zephyr, took you long enough” She simply blew a raspberry at me, rude. “The royal dickhead of a queen there told me that you were in danger on the other side of the castle, and of course, I rushed there as fast as I could” She is low glaring daggers and Chrysalis. “Oh, come on, no harm done, just a broken window and a slight dent on the table” Zephyr’s eyes widened in response. “Excuse me what?” “You can blame this furball for that” I then proceed to lift Twilight in the air so that Zephyr can take a good look. Once upon a time...Once upon a time, in a deep underground cave system, a changeling hive resided, thousands of little drones at their work, expanding the hive and collecting love energy from other species, but in an isolated room, a little nymph sits alone, giggling and playing by herself. She had two little wooden pony dolls, dolls that she found on the ground of the hive a drone might have dropped without knowing, she loved to play with those dolls for days on end, the problem is that her moth- “Chrysalis, where are you? You are late for your first love collecting mission” A shout came from one of the hallways, that’s the problem, her mother, she hated everything that the ponies made, actually, she just hated the ponies. Now the little princess nymph is panicking, hard, if her mother finds the dolls she will lose them forever, and it’s already lonely as it is, she can’t lose their only toys, her only friends she- The sound of the door bursting open echoes through the room, the nymph now is just frozen in place, it’s too late, nothing can be done now. “Chrysalis, why are you still here inside the castle and not out there doing your dut-” Her mother stops, while she was a little annoyed by the nymph's tardiness, it wasn’t a big deal, but now, her mother is wearing a big scowl and bearing her fangs. “What’s the meaning of this?” She simply asks in a cold tone. “Mom, it’s just some toys I fou-” “PONY TOYS” Her mom interjects now shouting. “PONY TOYS CHRYSALIS, YOU KNOW THAT WE CAN’T LOWER TO THEIR LEVEL, THEY ARE PREY AND WE ARE THE PREDATORS” The little nymph now looks smaller than she already is, she looks like she would start crying at any time now. “We are the mighty changeling race, not only that but you and I both are royalty” At least she stopped shouting. “This is unacceptable,” Her mom says while taking the dolls in her magic away from the little nymph. “NO, give them back” The little Chrysalis yells, now bawling her eyes out, her mom simply slaps her on the face. “NEVER use that tone on me again” Chrysalis recoils more in fear of her mother than the pain itself. With the dolls now in hoof, the queen chucked them into the ground and started stomping on them, Chrysalis only being able to watch the gruesome fate her dolls had met. After she feels it’s enough, the queen stops and burns the remains of the dolls with her magic, now they are nothing more than ash. “Now, little miss, you will go out there and collect love energy from those pitiful ponies as the drones command you, and they will be watching” The tone her mother took was less cold but strict. “Yes, ma'am,” The changeling princess says sadly, what else can she do other than obey? A couple of hours later, the princess is in a small town of ponies, she took the form of a white unicorn filly, intended to make any older pony try and help her. The sadness of earlier still hasn't gone, the ponies are looking at her with saddened eyes but nopony dares to talk to her. She then found herself in a small playground, occupied by three or four colts and fillies, she didn’t care for them though, she wanted to be alone, she then walked up to the swing, the only toy that was not being used right now, she just sited there, looking at the ground, she doesn’t know how much time has passed until she heard. “Hey, are you ok?” Looking up she sees a lavender blue unicorn filly asking her, with genuine concern in her eyes. “Leave me alone” It’s the only thing she mutters, the filly doesn’t move though. “You know, my mom always tells me that the best thing to do when you are feeling bad is to talk to a friend,” The filly says with a small smile on her face. “I don’t have any friends” Chrysalis retorts, it’s the truth, doesn’t mean it hurts any less. “Oh no, that’s bad, but you know what? I can be your friend!” The filly says with excitement “Only if you want to of course” A wide grin on her face. “I’m not allowed to make friends” If her mom finds out she is friends with a pony, who knows what might happen. “Why?” The filly asks with her head a little tilted to the side, confusion clearly spread through her face. “My mom doesn’t let me” A heavy sigh left Chrysalis. “Well, then we will be secret friends!” The filly says “Then you don’t have to worry about your mom finding out” Chrysalis couldn’t help but smile a little, this filly is the only one who tried to befriend her, and even after she was rude to her. “So, what do you say?” Chrysalis simply sighed. “It’s just...” She stops, how can she say anything without telling this filly about the changeling race? “It’s just that my mom always expects me to be something I don’t want to,” Chrysalis says sadly. “I can’t have friends, I can’t have toys, I can’t do anything fun” Her vision started to get blurry. “I can’t have fun,” She says lastly, now she is silently crying. “Oh, that’s really sad” The unicorn filly is clearly thinking of what to say now, she wasn’t expecting to get into such a complicated situation. “You know, you can always grow up to be a better pony” Chrysalis stops and looks at her. “What do you mean?” She simply asks. “Well, your mother clearly wants you to grow up to be a grumpy mare, but you can always be better” Those words, those simple words, how did Chrysalis never think of that? “You know what, you are right, thank you, eh...” “Oh, sorry, I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Sparkler," She says with a bright smile on her face, also holding her hoof in the air. “Chrysalis” Then I go and shake her hoof. “Pleasure to meet you!” She then pauses and jumps a little “Ah shoot, I should go home now, it’s getting late, see you later Chrysalis!” She starts trotting away, waving at Chrysalis with a smile on her face. “Yeah, see you soon,” Chrysalis says with a sad smile on her face, waving at the unicorn filly, she also feels something, she gathered enough love energy that her mission could be considered a success. If only those words she said that day would be true... “Hey Chryssi, is everything alright?” Anon asks. “Yes, everything is well, why do you ask?” Chrysalis says with a bit of annoyance in her voice. “Well, you have been staring at those dolls for the past five minutes or so, I got worried” “Ah, that, just memories from a past now forgotten” She responds with a little bit of sadness “Anyway, weren't we supposed to go see that tailor for the dress that the princess of the sun bought for the event next week?” Anon clearly has forgotten. “Ah shit, we will be late, let’s pick up the pace” The changeling queen now in a tall slender unicorn form giggles to herself. Author's Note Well, sorry for the long wait, this chapter was supposed to be the public apology from Chryssi, but I wasn't able to come up with anything interesting, and right after I had a rough week. But after reading "Past Sins" (if you haven't read it yet, go and read it right now) I got inspired to write again, so I came up with this chapter, a little backstory for our lovely queen Chrysalis. Also before you ask anything, yes this "Sparkler" is a reference to the G1 pony, but it isn't the same character, I have some plans about her, but oh well, that's a story for another day. When I open the door to her room, she is in a fetal position in a corner of the room, repeating “It will be fine” and “They won’t hate me” over and over. This will be difficult. “Uh, Chryssi are you alright?” I ask the poor changeling queen. “Fine? Yeah, I’m fine, I’m great, nothing to worry about” She is panicking, “Why shouldn’t I be fine? I will make a public apology for millions of ponies who I tried to enslave multiple times in history, nothing to worry about, besides maybe them hating me even after I try my best, they might want to see me in a dungeon, or worse, THEY MIGHT WANT TO DECAPITATE ME, WHAT SHOULD I DO ANON?” Now she is truly panicking, but she has a point, what if those ponies don’t believe in her? “Look, I can’t assure you of anything, but I can be sure of one thing, I will be there, no matter what everyone says, I will be there at your side if they end up wanting your head at a pike, they will have to get mine first” I put every ounce of sympathy and strength I have on these words, while looking directly into Chrysalis eyes. “Indeed, my dear friend Anon, while I haven’t spent much time recently with you Queen Chrysalis, I know that you have changed a lot in these past few months, and the fact that you are so worried about this proves me that fact” Celestia always beaming with that motherly aura she has. I see Chrysalis taking a deep breath to steady herself, and after a couple of them, she stands up. “Thank you, both of you, I think I'm ready now” Her voice is still a bit shaky and weak, but her eyes now burn with determination. “Alright, I will go see Twilight to make the preparations, Anon, can you help Queen Chrysalis to get ready?” “Sure, thing Princess, we will be ready for the right time” She nods and goes her own way, I dare to look at Chryssi, and she is a mess, her mane and tail are messy, her eyes swollen from crying, and she still is shaking a little from anxiety. “Alright bug butt, you need to get ready, come here” I grab a brush from her dressing table and sit on the ground, I pat right in front of me. “I’m not a nymph anymore, you can’t treat me like that” Again with the tough act. “Alright, I’m in no mood for this, come here” I get up and scoop her up by the barrel and get here to sit in front of me, the only protests I hear are some grumblings. “You will pay for that hyoo-, I mean, human,” She said my species name correctly this time, well, after fumbling a bit. “Sure Chryssi, now, stay still, I need to brush both your mane and tail,” I said in a more relaxed tone. “Since when do you know how to style a mane?” “Well, one of my dreams when I was younger was to be a hairdresser” “What is that hair thing you are saying” “Well, it’s what I have right here on my hea-” When I touch my head I remember, I’m bald as a fucking egg, shiny as a recently waxed floor. “Fuck” It’s all manage to say “Well, I used to have it, it’s like a mane, but usually shorter and way harder to deal with,” I say trying to explain the best I could “Hm, didn’t know your species could have any type of fur,” she says with true disbelief. “Hey, we can have lots of fur, but in humans, they are called hairs, one thing that I can still grow is a beard, if you want, I could stop shaving to show you” That seems to have piqued her interest. “You would look funny, bald in the top of the head, but with fur in the bottom of it” She snickers with her little joke. “Alright, I will keep shaving then” “Hey, I didn’t say that, I want to see how you look with a beard,” She says while pouting, this thing can be cute when she wants to be. “Alright bug butt, you win, I will let my beard grow, but it will take a couple of months for this, now, hold still” She lets out a... was that a fucking chirp? Changelings chirp? This is just weird. After a couple of hours of brushing and trying to get Chryssi on her clothes, it was time. “You sure that you are ready? We can always delay it if you need it” I say with concern to her. “No, that wouldn’t be right, I need to do this,” She says with true determination on her face. “Alright then, just remember, me, Twilight, Celestia, and Luna will all be there by your side if you need us” I shot a warm smile at her, and she did the same to me. “Thank you Anon, I’m glad that you are my friend, this was a quite hectic month, but here we are,” She says reminiscing the past few weeks we had together, while it was fun, it was also hell, this bug lady can be so much problem when she wants to, but she can also be sweet and caring, well, as caring as Chrysalis can be. “Alright, it’s time to do this,” She says while stepping forward to the balcony, this will decide the fate of a whole race. When she becomes visible to the crowd, things get... a bit shaky, a lot of whispers and murmurs can be heard from the crowd, and lots of worried eyes, even the soldiers look ready to pounce at any time. “Dear citizens of Equestria, I, Queen Chrysalis of the Changeling kind am here not as an enemy or obstacle, I’m here as an ally or a friend for some” She then looks at me, taking a brief pause. “Today, as Princess Celestia said, is a very special date, I’m here to say a single word that many may find easy to say without thought, but in reality, it’s a hard word to mean it, I’m here, to apologize” She then kneels so low that her face is almost touching the ground. With the speech now done, only one thing remains, what will the crowd say? Most ponies there are silent, evaluating their choices, until 5 colorful ponies in the middle of the crowd shout at the top of their lungs. “IF TWILIGHT AND ANON TRUSTS YOU, WE TRUST YOU” I will be dammed, the elements of harmony were the first to forgive her, that much I wasn’t expecting. Chrysalis's face was not only surprised, but now, she was crying, not from sadness or anxiety, but out of happiness, I can’t control myself anymore. “Come here Bug Butt” I go there and hug the big changeling, and the only thing I hear is quiet sobbing with chuckles in-between, why is the big bug horse lady so fucking cute? After a couple of minutes have passed and both celestial sisters have thanked their subjects, we go back inside, Chrysalis is beaming with confidence and happiness, I try to keep myself from messing with her but I can’t. “So-” As I start to talk, I get interrupted by no other than Twilight. “So Quee-, I mean, Chrysalis, you sure are happy now for somepony that hated the concept of friendship huh?” I see a sly smile on her face, cheeky Twilight. “I... I guess it isn’t as bad as I thought, but that doesn’t mean I will do those prissy lessons you do” Damn girl, didn’t need to touch that subject. “My friendship lessons aren’t prissy!” Twilight now pouting ruffle her wings with annoyance. From all being in the hallway now, I didn’t expect to hear Celestia laughing at this, as so did everyone else since we all stopped and looked at her with confusion. “What? Is there something on my face?” She asks innocently. “Well, no, but I wasn’t expecting you of all ponies to be so lighthearted with all this” I was the first to say. “Why so?” She asks looking at me. “Well, since Chrysalis started living here in the castle, I started to study the changeling story throughout Equestria, and well, both you and Chrysalis have quite the extensive list of battles I will say that much” I look at Chrysalis, I see her awkwardly smiling at me. “I see, well, I won’t lie, I’m not entirely happy with the situation, as you said, Chrysalis already caused a lot of problems not only for me but for Equestria as a whole” She then looks at Chryssi “But I can’t ignore the fact that she is indeed trying to be better, she has a lot to do before I can truly forgive her, but, I don’t hate her either” I can’t quite say I was surprised by this response, knowing Celestia she probably already was planning on befriending the changeling kind anyway. “Oh yeah, I forgot to ask back then Chrysalis, but did you say you made a promise to a pony named Sparkler?” Twilight asks the changeling with a serious tone. “Yeah, she was a filly I met when I was a little nymph, in a quiet village close to the badlands, I fear it doesn’t exist anymore, it has been 80 years now,” Chrysalis says while looking nowhere in particular. “That’s... no, it can’t be, Chrysalis, tell me, would you be able to recognize that pony if you see a photo of her again?” Why is Twilight so pushy about this? Something isn’t right. “Probably, changelings can remember faces for decades easily,” she says with a proud tone. After 2 quick pops, Twilight teleports to somewhere and comes back in a few minutes, she then hands Chryssi an old photo of an old mare holding a baby in her hoofs, the baby I assume is Twilight, the older mare had a purple mane with a brighter purple for her coat, she had a cutie mark of three diamonds. “That’s her indeed, but wait, why is she holding a baby you?” The changeling looks back at Twilight with a confused glance. “She was my great-grandmother,” Twilight says with the most confused look I have seen. “What?” All the other ponies (and human) say in unison. Author's Note Welp, remember when I said that I was working on the next "My Little Lunar Guard" chapter? I lied (sort of), I was indeed working on it, but I sort of got into the groove for this chapter Anyway, I said that Sparkler would be brought up later didn't I? It won't be anything life changing for the plot but it will be a little fun exploring this version of the character, at least I hope so. I don't know how much longer this fic will last not gonna lie, probably around 3-5 more chapters, maybe more, maybe less, we will see, I still want to do 2 big things with the story in this, I won't say what but hey, that's why you are here aren't you?
The first meting Part 1You know that little voice inside your head that is always there, doesn't matter if you are happy, sad, angry or feel anything at all. It's always there, just lingering in your mind, the doubt, a strong and annoying feeling. Why do I feel it you may ask, well, it's been 3 years since I simply was yanked out of my world and got here in this weird magical horse land, in a little town called ponyville I think, a purple pony with wings and a horn approached me and simply talked, yeah, imagine my face when I discovered that those ponies not only talked but could also fly and do magic, REAL MAGIC. Anyway, her name was Twilight and apparently, she was the princess of friendship? How can you be a princess of a concept beats me. She just made some questions and wrote a letter to someone, or if you may somepony heh, I chuckled at that not gonna lie. Anyway, the letter was for a pony called Celestia, basically the god of ponies and their ruler. And well, she was, something alright, regal, white as snow, a mane that flows with.... uhh... nothing? Look, physics isn't my cup of tea, but I'm certain that hair can't flow like that. Well, after some small talk she decided to get me to the royal castle in Canterlot, it's not like a I had a choice, so I just accepted. There she explained to me the basics of this world and how she wasn't really all that surprised to see a human, apparently, she has a mirror that sends ponies to another another dimension with humans, mind you, not my dimension, cause apparently their people can be pink. But still, it's a human world, and even though she wasn't supposed to use that mirror she did a couple of times, got to know how the human society works. After some hours, in the evening, she told me to meet her sister, a pony called Luna, another goddess and ruler of their world, and she can move the moon, oh yeah, I kinda forgot to mention how Celestia moves the sun and Luna the moon, no, I didn't dare to question it. Well, Luna was, for a lack of a better word, cold, distant even. Late at night I couldn't sleep, I was always a night type of person but usually I could sleep well, maybe the shock of being in another world finally set in, so I just decided to walk around the castle until I feel sleepy, after a couple of minutes I met Luna in the throne room.... alone. I decided to talk to her. "Hi, your majesty" I said quietly. "Oh, Anon, I wasn't expecting you to be awake this late" Luna responded regally. "Well, I was supposed to, but sleep just left my body without a message, maybe it finally settled that I just got sucked in another world without even saying goodbye to my friends and family" I said grimly. "I see, to be honest, we, I mean, I can relate to that, it's not really the same thing, but I was banished to the moon for a thousand years, and just 2 years ago I came back, and things were, different, almost like I was not in the world I knew anymore" Wait, a thousand years? I couldn't believe that, but she said with so much conviction and sadness, that I just believed it. "Huh, so we both are kinda outcasts of this world" I said with a chuckle. "Also, why were you so grumpy earlier? Not to be rude or anything, but back then you were cold and distant, but now, you ware sweet and caring" I said shooting her with a confused look. She makes a grumpy face, cute. "Well, you would also be grumpy when you don't get your full time of sleep for 3 days straight, and also, I don't know how to act around my sister" she said while her grumpy face turned into a sad one. "After a thousand years away from her, I kinda forgot how we talked to each other, not only that but she is different from back then" she took a quick pause to take a deep breath. "Even after 3 years since my return, I feel like she still has some resentment for what I did" Taking a couple of minutes to collect my thoughts, I simply chuckled. "Have you even talked to her about this? I mean, for sure she misses you, after we meet she apologized a lot because of your grumpy mood, saying things like "she isn't like that usually" or "I'm so sorry for your first impression of Lulu being that", and after that she banged her head on a wall for a good 5 minutes for telling me your secret nickname " I said with a cheeky smirk on my face. "So, Lulu, have you ever talked to her about how you feel?" A wide smirk on my face, teasing a goddess, what a wild ride. "First thing, call me Lulu again and I will crush your skull" she said with eyes that seemed to stare my soul, took all my might to not wet myself. "Second, no, I haven't talked to her about it, our schedules make it almost impossible to do so" The face she was making is almost unreadable, looks like a mix of regret and sadness. "Wait, you two never had a break? It's the whole year working nonstop? Now I'm not surprised why you two seem so tired and well, grumpy". This is unbelievable, the rulers and technically the gods of this land never had a break, I can only imagine how much stress these two have gathered along the years. "We can't leave our ponies without our guidance or protection, they need us to be there when the time comes" she said so royally that I remembered that right know I'm talking to a princess, how did I even forget that? It's not like I know her, this is the first time I meet her, technically the second. "Even just a day once a week? Don't they have the royal guard for protection, the elements of harmony, and well, 2 other princesses? I mean, I don't know the other one, but Twilight seems nice, a little too nerdy, but she seems like a god woman". "Pardon?" Luna said with confusion on her face. "What? Did I say something wrong?" "Well, not really, at least I don't think so, but what's that woman thing you were talking about?". A questioning look on her face. Oh yeah, only Celestia and Twilight know about humans, ponies don't really know about how we talk. "Oh yeah, sorry, I forgot that you don't know anything about humans, well, a woman would be the same as a mare in here, and a man the same as a colt" I explained to her. "Ah, I see, but still, I don't know if the guard or Twilight is up for the task, she has only been a princess for a couple months at most, she is not ready for something like that". "Doesn't hurt to try does it? I mean, make a test, for a month you and Celestia will overwatch her as she takes your places in the Sunday". "I will consider it, but we have a more pressing matter on our hoof right now". "And what would that be?" I shot a curious glare at her. "You". She said almost emotionless. "Me? What do you mean?" A feeling of dread came to me, I'm not sure why though, these ponies seem nice, they wouldn't do anything to me right.... right? "Well, you see, you don't belong in this world, but until further notice you will live here for the time being, we are not even certain if we could send you back to your world safely" A short pause came, she was apparently thinking of what to say next. "We would like to give you a choice, you seem like a good colt, I mean, man, and quite knowledgeable" "And what would that choice be?" A curious look was on my face, this is actually quite interesting, if one of the princesses is actually complimenting me, that kinda felt good. "The choice is simple, you can chose a town, any town, of our land to live, we would give you a house and enough bits to live for a couple of months while you search for a job, you would live a normal life, well, as normal as it could be with you being from another world" Interesting, this seems like a good deal, but what's the other option? "What's the other option?" "You could live here, in the castle" Hold up, this seems like a trap. "And what's the catch?" I deadpanned. "What do you mean my dear human" Luna said trying to do puppy eyes, jokes on you, that doesn't work on me! "I mean, living in a giant castle? With food, a bed, and everything else for free? Yeah, I don't bite it" Luna clicked her tongue, a frustrated look on her face, seems that I dodged a bullet here. "You are way more cunning that I thought" Luna sighed. "The catch would be that you would need to work in the castle" Well thar doesn't sound too bad, cleaning is easy peasy, I'm quite decent on the kitchen, and thank God that my father was a soldier, his training would come in handy here. "Hm, work here on the castle? Doesn't sound that bad, what would I even do though?" "Simple, you would help me and my sister with our daily, or nightly in my case, chores!" She said with so much excitement, almost like a child who got what she wanted on Christmas. And what would that chores be?" I asked a little annoyed, sure work directly to the princesses could be nice, but that also means that I would be working almost 24/7. "Oh, nothing too serious, just helping us to deal with some nobles, guarantee that we are on schedule, make us take a break or two during the day, and helpusdecidesomenewlaws" she said the last part so fast and quietly that I didn't understand. "What did you say in that last part?" I said worried. "Oh, nothing important" she said with a fake smile on her face, she didn't learn the first time. "Luna, are you really trying to trick me again?" She blushed and shook her head like those bubbly head car decorations, it's kinda cute to be honest. "No, never, I just...." a heavy sigh left her. "As part of your work, you will need to help us with laws of the land, we need help mainly with laws about other species in equestria" A tinge of guilt on her expression. "Unfortunately, me and my sister don't really know what to do regarding them, we want to befriend other species, but we fought so many wars with them that we can't be impartial with them". "I see.... I will be completely honest with you here princess, I'm not the right person or pony for this, I have no knowledge about politics, economics and stuff like that, but..." "I can try, the other species problem I already have some ideas actually". "SPLENDID! WE SHALL WELCOME YOU WITH OPEN HOOVES MY FRIEND ANON!" I think that I have gone deaf, how can a little horse pack so much punch with their voice. "Oh, we are so sorry, we didn't mean to use our royal Canterlot voice on thee" she said almost as worried as my mom was when I broke a bone for the first time. "Don't worry, the ringing is almost stopping.... I think." I can barely hear her. Out of nowhere a golden light appeared and as quickly as it did it also disappeared, and now a tall withe pony with a teddy bear or her wings took it place. "Dear Lulu, can I ask you why in Tartarus are you using the royal Canterlot voice at 2 and a half in the morning?" Oh god, Celestia seems pissed. "We are so sor-" "Dialect Luna" Celestia intervened "I'm so sorry dear sister, I couldn't control myself, our dear friend here accepted my offer to work with us to make equestria a better place for other species!" Why does a black horse seem so cute when excited. "Excuse me, what?" Oh shit. "Hey, look at the time, it was nice talking to you Luna, but I think that I will hit the hay now, bye" I rushed to the door, almost leaving, but then, a golden aura surrounded me and pulled me back. "Oh, you won't mister, we have a lot to talk about" Welp, I think that I'm good as dead now. Author's Note So hey, this is the first time I actually wrote anything like this, was bored at work so this came up in my mind. I'm not sure if I will do more chapters, for now it's just this one. The first meeting Part 2So, it seems that they don't want me dead, for now at least. But Celestia doesn't seem so happy with the news. "Luna, why would you hire someone you barely know to help us rule our kingdom?" Celestia said with a disappointed tone to her voice. "Sister, this human is a kind soul, after our talk I got to let out a side of myself I couldn't bring out for hundreds of years, I know what I'm doing" Luna responded pouting like a small child, cute. Celestia sighed and looked at me, her eyes burning with distrust, then she looked back at her sister. "Luna, you know that we can't just blindly trust some pony just like that, you know how change-" Celestia stopped abruptly, almost like something just clicked on her mind. "Um, Celestia, are you alright?" I asked, worried... mostly about myself. "Anon, can I ask you a question?" Celestia said coldly, man, I don't wanna die now, I just turned 20, I still have a lot to live for. "I mean, you just asked one, but sure, go on" I laughed nervously, that try to lighten the mood worked as well as using a sunglasses at night. "Do you know what changelings are?" A changeling? Is that some type of food? Doesn't sound tasty though. "No, I don't know what a changeling is" I said honestly, can't lie about something you never heard about. Celestia simply hummed, doesn't seem like she believed me. "I see, you know, changelings are vile creatures, they feed on love energy, they can change their looks to perfectly mimic some pony, even the voice, their queen, Chrysalis, is especially dangerous, she can do everything the others can, but she is also as powerful as me with enough love energy, she can brainwash others, and who knows what more" Celestia said grimly, with a tinge of rage and disgust. But wow, these things sound dangerous, and a full meal to paranoic people, but one question still stands on my mind, why is the telling me this? Surely, she doesn't think that I'm one of those right? Oh fuck. "Celestia, what are you implying?" Luna asked, she is looking at me like how you look at a child who did something wrong. "Oh, my little moonlight, nothing really, just that maybe this little human here, might be queen Chrysalis herself." Yep, my end is near, I had a good life, I had.... wait, my life was shit, I don't want to die a loser. "Now wait a second, how would I be that queen you are talking about if you just said that only you, Twilight and that Sunset Shimmer knows about humans? How would Chrysalis know about them?" I'm beyond sweating now, I don't think I have water on my body anymore, if I don't get smited here, I will probably die of dehydration. "Fair point, but we don't know much about the changelings, we don't know if they have spies on our castles, or in other worlds for that matter." Man, how the hell will I get away here. "Isn't there a way to check if he is a changeling or not sister?" Thank God that Luna is here. "Well, maybe Twilight might have found a way to do so, but I don't know any, from what I remember, they turn back to their original form if they are hit hard enough, we can try that!" Ah hell nah, I'm not getting zapped or bucked into oblivion, fuck that. "You know what, fuck this shit" Then I started running for my dear life, without success of course, Celestia just grabbed me with her magic, again, this is bullshit. "Come on my little human, no need to use those horrible words, we will just give you a little zap, you won't die at least I think so ". "What" Both me and Luna asked at the same time. Then, Celestia zapped me, and it hurt, like a lot, it's almost as bad as a taser, actually it's worse than a taser, I blacked out. I woke up the next morning, in the bedroom they gave me for the night, my body was sore and my head hurts like hell, almost like I'm having the worst hangover of my life, oh, there is a letter on the bedside table. "Dear Anon, I'm so sorry for what I did to you on our prior encounter, I would personally be there on your room when you woke up to apologize but duty calls, there should be a change of clothes right beside this letter, after you finish your morning routine, ask the guard on your door to take you directly to me. Sincerely Princess of the Esquestria Diarchy, Celestia" Well, that was something, might as well get ready for the day. After 30 minutes of getting ready I take a glance on the letter again. "A personal guard huh". When I open the door, I see a royal violet pegasus mare with a sky blue mane with white stripes, she bares a stoic feature, same as every single guard on this castle, but now that I think about it, isn't every single guard here a white unicorn stallion? Weird. Then she looks at me, with emerald green eyes, ok, those are beautiful. "Hey there Anon, right?" I simply nod. "The princess told me to be your personal guard while you stay here on the castle, at least for the day, I think that princess Luna chose one for the night shift, not really sure" She then takes a pause to exhale "Any questions you might have?" "Just one, not to be rude or anything, but isn't every royal guard a white unicorn stallion?" She chuckles at that. "Well, yes, that's why I'm not a royal guard silly human" she says whit a smirk. "You are not?" "Nope, I'm a member of the EUP, basically an elite military group of equestria" She then realizes something "Ah shit, I forgot to introduce myself" "Captain Zephyr of the third pegasi branch of the EUP, at your service" She makes a salute with her wings. "Also, sorry for the bad language" "Meh, don't worry about it, you can be yourself when we are alone, I also have a bad mouth problem, I just control myself around most people." She seemed to relax at that. "Thanks, Celestia for that, to be honest I was a little worried you would be one of those stuck-up ponies who seems to have a stick up their asses all the time, but I see that you are one of my kind" "Well then, let's get going, I need to talk to Celestia about some stuff that happened last night" I said almost tone deaf, I'm still mad about it. "Seems that you had a tough first night here on the castle huh?" "You could say that, was all fine until the sunbut princess came out of nowhere" "Hey, watch your mouth, I might be a little less patriot than most of the guard but I'm still part of the military" she said with a relaxed tone, seems that she is just teasing. "Keep that for when the princess is near hoof licker" "Motherfu-" "Oh, hey we reached the throne room" "How do you even know? Isn't this your second day at the castle?" She said with a confused look on her face. "I wondered here last night; I still remember how I got here" Zephyr just sighed. "Let's get this over with" I said determined to get some apologies. Zephyr asks me opening the other half of the door, until she just stops with a shocked look on her muzzle. "Not again" she says almost whining. "What is that thing?" The changeling queen asks with a disgusted look pointing a hoof at me, rude. "Hey, didn't your mom thought you that it's rude to point at others?" I said with a sarcastic tone and a smirk on my face. "IT TALKS" Chrysalis said with genuine fear. Man, I'm not that ugly, or am I? "Stop right there criminal scum" said Zephyr hm, where have I heard that before? "You broke several laws of equestria with your actions, surrender or you will face the consequences!" a brave face on her muzzle, but she doesn't look intimidating, actually, she is smaller than most ponies now that I take a look at her. "You and what army little pest?" said Chrysalis with a snarl. "I don't need an army to take you down foul creature!" welp, my respect for Zephyr suddenly vanished, how will a little pegasi defeat a creature who was able to defeat Celestia? One of the most powerful beings in this world. But then she charged at Chrysalis, and immediately got shot by some kind of slime that made her a pony burrito. "Congratulations genius, you really are one of the best soldiers I have even seen" I said sarcastically while slowly clapping my hand. "Fuck off" was everything I got from her. "Well then, now that this little pest got delt with, what in tartarus are you?" Again, with the pointing, really? Doesn't she have any manners at all? "Well, I'm Anon, a human, a pleasure to meet you Chrysalis" this is going to be weird. "A hyoo-man? I bever heard of such creatures my whole life! Stop lying already" Chrysalis said with a snarl, if she wasn't a bug pony, I would probably mistake her for a dog. I sighed "Because I'm not really from this world you know? Somehow, I got here and can't go back, the princess you have there on that cocoon thing was hosting me, so, I will kindly ask you to give her back, please?" "NEVER, my plan finally worked, now I'm the queen of all Equestria, and no one can stop me, NO ONE" a mad laughter echoed through the throne room. "Look here bug lady, I just want to have a peaceful life for once, so I won't ask again, free up Celestia and everyone else" I said with a strict tone, that somehow made Chrysalis flinch. "And what will a little pitiful hyoo-man like you would do" welp, time to get out the big guns. I started running towards Chrysalis like a madman, she charged a magic bolt who I somehow was able to dodge, it was like that for a couple of minutes, until I was face to face with her. "GET AWAY FROM ME YOU VILE THING" Chrysalis said shivering like a child after watching a horror movie. "Will you free everyone?" I said in a serious tone. "NEVER" was all she said. "Then, face the consequences" Then I started to pet her.... what? What else am I supposed to do? From what I heard friendship and shit is the most powerful thing here, it's worth a shot. "You have got to be fucking with me" I hear Zephyr say on my back. "What are you doing?" Chrysalis asked. "Petting you" I deadpanned. "Stop" "No" This was a back and forth for around, 15 minutes or so, until she got annoyed, and seemingly pleased with what just happened. "Ok fine I will get them all out" she said pouting. "Finally" I said triumphantly, so is stooped petting her. "WHO SAID YOU COULD STOP" and now I'm petting her again. "I will get them out, but with a couple of conditions" oh boy, here we go. "I can't promise anything, but sure, go on" "First, I want to live in the castle, in the same room as you" excuse me, what the fuck? "Second, you will always be at my side" the fuck? "Third, I want my little changelings to be equestrian citizen" at least this one makes sense. "And lastly, I want YOU to be my colt friend" I want to die. "Hold the fuck on, the first and third one sure, I can probably talk Celestia out, but be your colt friend? I barely know you for fuck's sake" I said annoyed with all of this. "But you petted me" Chrysalis said with her ears folding back, couldn't hear what she said, but damn, this was cute. "What did you say there?" I simply asked. "NOTHING" she took a deep breath "Fine, I will do your way, I will conquer your love by myself!" She said proudly, fuck, now I will have a bug horse lady trying to get into my pants. "Whatever, just let everyone out" After a couple of minutes everyone was freed from their cocoons, Celestia pulled me to the side and asked. " I don't know what you did, but well done, now I just have to get her off guard" Celestia almost snarled. "Can't let you do that princess" I said disappointed with myself. "What?" "I kind of promised her some stuff". 5 minutes of boring explanation later, and a room that is probably around 40 degrees Celsius right now, Celestia simply said. "Fine, we will do your way, BUT you will be with during all of the talk about changeling citizenship" God damnit. After a few hours of explaining the whole castle including a pissed Luna that almost blew off half of the castle grounds, we four are sited in a round table facing each other in silence for the past 20 minutes, at least they aren’t trying to kill each other. The silence was broken by Luna of all ponies. “We can’t let you and your changeling roam like you ware before in equestria, we will need laws and rules for our species to cooperate” Luna is right, the changelings have some powerful magic that we can’t ignore, transforming into other creatures is too dangerous to be free to use. “Lay the rules both of you want us to follow, me and my future spouse will evaluate them” I hate this already, at least Luna and Celestia chose to ignore that part. “First of, no changing into other creatur-” “No” Chrysalis interrupted Celestia, this will be a long meeting. “What do you mean by No?” Celestia asked, not really pleased with the situation. “How else are my changelings supposed to feed without that ability? We need to morph into other ponies to their love energy for us” “That’s what we want to prevent, your race needs to get love energy by other means, maybe try to be friendly, some of our ponies might give love energy freely, we know about a certain changeling that is living with my niece on the crystal empire, he doesn’t need to feed of others” Celestia is actually trying to help Chrysalis, this is new. A loud sigh could be heard from Chrysalis “Thorax, that little one was always a pain in the flank” she then took a pause to drink some water “But I see your point unfortunately, but this will be harder than there, most of the crystal ponies didn't even know about us, the only real problem was the pink one and her succul- I mean, spouse” The hell was that supposed to mean? “I’m going to choose to ignore that last part, but we do see a problem on our approach, mainly here in Canterlot, ponies still hate your species for what you did in my niece wedding day” Celestia tapped a hoof on her chin “But I may have an idea, what you need is a positive view on changelings to overshadow your past actions, the problem is, what could you do?” The room, silent again, but not the angry silence from before, it’s the type of thinking silence. “I might have an idea” I said after some time thinking. “Well, share it with us” Celestia said. “Well, the problem is that the past actions were a problem, right? And from what I was told from Chrysalis perspective, most of the reason behind that attack was the love shortage your hive had right?” I asked looking at Chrysalis. “Yes, we had a pretty bad shortage of love energy at that time, we were able to stabilize it after a couple of weeks but still, changelings almost died of hunger because of it” Chrysalis said with a sad tone on her voice. “Then, that’s your answer, make a public apology to canterlot citizens, tell your motives behind the actions, and say what you plan next, an integration between ponies and Changelings” after I got some weird looks, I simply add “Ponies seem to be chill, I mean, a weird creature appears in the middle of their town and they just welcome it with open hooves” “You might be right Anon, our little ponies are quite forgiving creatures, look at our example, once we tried to conquer equestria and kill our sister, but they simply forgave me” Luna added with a warm smile. “Thats our plan then, any problems with it Chrysalis?” after Celestia said those words we all look at Chrysalis, she simply shot us a fanged grin and said. “It’s not perfect, but it might suffice, we changelings can be quite deceiving creatures, I might be able to make a fake apology that they will accept” she said proudly. All other ponies and human, on the room smacked their hoofs or hand on their faces with a unanimous groan. “What? I said something wrong?” Chrysalis is actually confused by this, well, who said that it would be this simple? At least your life won’t be boring anymore. Author's Note Here we are, chapter 3 of whatever how many I will do, a introduction to another cast memeber. This was the hardest chapter to write until now, cause I din't know what to do with Crhyssi, a mad queen or cute bug waifu, then I decided to do a little of both, insipiration to this was the "Pony/Changeling courtship Rituals" Chrysalis, where she is both a pain the the butt but also cute as all hell. Anyway, you know the drill already, any errors just comment I will take a look. Not sure where I will take this story now, may take longer to write a new chapter, who knows. Here comes a new challenger!Well, the past two weeks have been... something. Since now you basically live with one of the most feared enemies of all Equestria, she isn’t the nicest mare you have seen, but she isn’t really evil either, mostly just an asshole, doing pranks here and there, scaring the poor servants of the castle and how can I forget? Trying to fucking poison Celestia and Luna. Thank God they are immortal, the only thing they feel is a little stomach ache, once the poison was so strong that Celestia actually puked on the spot, I was scared as all hell, but also intrigued, Celestia pukes fucking rainbows. Anyway, after our first meeting we had a bunch more of them, things were getting better, Chrysalis now actually felt bad for the invasion of the wedding that day, the public apology will take place tomorrow actually, the pranks toned down, poisoning is only taken place on Sundays (trust me, that is an improvement), and she is trying to be nice, trying being the key word. Since I’m the royal advisor now, I was the one in charge of, hm, how can I say it, babysit Chrysalis and make sure she doesn’t do anything evil, not my proudest moment to be honest. My train of thought was broken by Zephyr. “Soo... how is it going with the bug lady?” Zephyr asks nonchalantly. “What do you mean?” I mean, I know what she is talking about, but I want to make sure exactly what she wants to know. “Well, you know, sleeping in the same room as her, teaching her how to be a better pony and stuff like that, I’m kinda curious you know.” Ah, that. “Well...” I’m not sure of what to say to be honest, our relationship is complicated. Then I look to my left and a see an unexpected second pony right behind me. “Who are you?” I simply ask, looks like a solar guard, but who knows. “Private First-Class of the Solar Guard Lightning Shot reporting for duty sir!” The pony does a quick salute on my direction. “And what are you doing here?” This is suspicious. “Our majesty Celestia asked me to accompany you today sir” Ok, something is up, Celestia doesn’t do stuff without asking me. “Ah, I see, you know, you are getting good on fooling me Chryssi, but you forgot the Celestia never does anything without communicating to me beforehand” I have the biggest eat shitting grin on my face right now. “UGH, you are really annoying you know” a green flame engulfing the once white unicorn stallion now transforming into a big bug lady. “And what did we talk about taking other ponies form to spy on others?” “I wasn’t spying!” she takes a pause bearing her fangs at me. “Fangs Chryssi” she flinches and became a little red on her muzzle. “Sorry” she simply mutters. “I was simply curious of uh, whatever you two were talking about” let’s say I believe she didn't know we were talking about her. “I see, we were just talking about how we will take you for a quick stroll around Canterlot, to interact with some ponies and for them to get used to your presence” I said jokingly, I mean, there is a plan for that, but only after her public apology tomorrow, we can’t rush stuff you know. “Oh, uhm, it would be nice to do so but I just received a message from one of my changelings that they need me today, sorry bye!” She ran off quite fast, didn't know she could be that fast to be honest. Then I look back at Zephyr, she has her mouth open agape with surprise. “As I was about to say, Chrysalis isn’t that bad of a pony really, I mean, sometimes she gets out of hand but still, she respects me and my decisions, and some of Celestia too” a sigh escaped me “Luna on the other hand... they just compete” “Compete?” Zephyr asks “Yeah, mostly prank wars, it can get really chaotic sometimes, I still remember when both Luna and Chrysalis glued each other flanks on their chairs during breakfast with super glue, it wasn’t pretty” “How the fuck I never learned about any of that stuff? Hay, I’m always by your side!” “Well, mostly because they keep that as a secret, not even I know most of what they do on their little squabbles, Tia always discovers sooner or later and sometimes she tells me” “This castle became hell after you got here you know that right?” Zephyr asks me mockingly. “Technically, you got here at the same time as me" I chuckled at that. “Also, speaking of Celestia, do you know when she will be free for a meeting today? I need to talk to her about some of my plans for after the apology tomorrow” A more serious tone on my voice. “From what I know, today will be a busy day for her, you might be able to talk to her after the afternoon court though” “Busy day huh, let’s quicken our pace, I might be able to catch her during breakfast if we reach the dining room sooner”. “Alright then” After a couple of minutes both me and Zephyr are in the dining room, she taking her position on the door while I take my usual seat on the table, who has a very sound asleep Celestia with her face mushed on some quite fluffy looking pancakes. Now that I think about it, I never got her back for the zapping a couple of days ago, I have a plan. “Tia it’s time to wake up” I simply say while slapping her face lightly. Almost falling off her chair she wakes up startled. “What, when, where?” She says confused. “Calm down, you ware just asleep on some fluffy pancakes, what happened for you to be this tired” I ask with concern. A loud yawn came from her “I wasn’t able to get much sleep yesterday, too much paperwork, and since tomorrow is a special day, I needed to clear some of it sooner” well, her face says it all, the tall horse do be looking tired. “You know that you could have asked me for help right?” “I couldn’t bother you with such mundane work, and already having full hooves with the changeling queen right now” “Meh, she isn’t much work anyway, I expected her to be way worse” I chuckle, which also got a smile from Celestia. “Well, anything else you want to tell me before I go to my morning court?” She asks me, which remembers me. “Oh yeah, almost forgot, I need to talk with you about some plans I have for changeling integration, but seeing how you are today, this can wait, we can go over it after the event tomorrow” “Allright then” she starts to walk away, but then she pauses and looks at me “Also, nice try with the prank, but you forgot that I lived for hundreds of years with Luna, no marker in the castle is permanent, but I do look good with a monocle and a mustache” She laughs at it. “Party pooper” I simply say while laughing with her. “See you soon Anon” “See you soon Tia” After she lefts, I’m all alone in the dining room for a couple of minutes, but then, out of nowhere a lavender figure breaks the window and slams right into the dining table. Twilight needs to learn how to make an entrance. “WHERE IS SHE?” pure rage and hate is oozing from the little lavender alicorn. “Twilight calm down, what’s going on? Where is who?” I’m kinda scared, she doesn’t look like the type of mare who would enter this state without a good reason. “WHERE IS CHRYSALIS?” she is almost using the royal canterlot voice, which is kinda impressive since she never learned it from anyone. Wait, did she say Chrysalis? Oh no. Code lavenderAs we both sat there staring at each other, Twilight's eye burning with an unseen fury and me, almost pissing myself fearing for my own life, how did she even find out that Chrysalis was here? No one outside of the castle should know about this, even most of the guards and servants don’t know about it, only the ones who work the closest to the princesses. “What are you talking about Twilight?” I asked with a shaky voice. “Exactly what I meant, Chrysalis is here, and she is dangerous, we need to take her down before she does something stupid” If only she knew... “Look, I don’t know who told you that, but I haven’t seen anything or anyone different” I tried to defuse the situation, didn't work though. “Anon, I’m not stupid, I received a letter directly from Chrysalis saying that she was here, and the writing is spot on” Then she shoves the letter right up into my face, why the hell does she have a database on one of her villains writing anyway? “Greetings my fellow monarch, I Queen Chrysalis of the changeling am formally inviting you for my next move in the royal sphere, be in the Canterlot castle by tomorrow afternoon and you will see, please invite your silly little friends too.” Your majestic new ruler, Queen Chrysalis. God dammit Chryssi. “See, she is planning something for tomorrow, we need to stop her!” Flaring her wings trying to look dominant, only to make her look 10 times cuter than normal, I hate you human brain. “Twilight, look, I think you got this all wron-” Suddenly the door to the dining room slams open, and the one pony that I didn’t want to see right now comes trotting happily to the table. “Oh, hello Anon, and Twilight, I wasn’t expecting you today, my letter said that the event was going to be tomorrow, didn’t it?” She is humming happily, come on Chryssi, read the fucking room. “CHRYSALIS, PREPARE TO FACE THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ACTIONS, I THE PRINCESS OF FRIENDSHIP TWILIGHT SPARKLE AM GOING TO IMPRISON YOU” Well, is it worth it to do something here? I mean, the two of them can snap me like a twig without even touching me. As I take a look at Twilight, I see that her horn not only has a bright lavender glow that I have never seen her with but it’s also crackling with lighting around it. Alright, fun is over. Then I proceeded to do some of the stupidest things in my entire life, scoop up a powerhouse of a pony like a dog while putting a hand on her horn to turn the magic off like I was blowing a birthday candle. “Twilight, stop,” I said with a serious tone, she looked at me with a pouting face fit for a baby. “But she is trying to take hold of Equestria,” she says while whining and pointing a hoof at Chrysalis, who got bored with the interaction and it’s just eating some salad, smooth Chryssi, smooth. “Who said that I'm trying to rule this land?” she stops talking taking a bite of a tomato “I don’t want to be like Celestia, those nobles are a pain in the flank, can’t deal with them for a day, imagine for years!” not gonna lie, she has a point there, these nobles do be a pain in the ass. “This Chryssi, is why I asked you to not do anything stupid, but you did anyway” A heavy sigh left me “Look Twi, Chrysalis is now, uh, a decent enough pony” A loud hey with a squeak was heard in the back. “What do you mean? Don’t tell me she is brainwashing you...” I just look at her confused. “Wait, she can do that? You can do that Chryssi?” the sound of a fork hitting the platter was heard “Guilty” she simply said “I can indeed do it, but for some weird reason it doesn’t work on you or the alicorn princesses, it’s not for a lack of try” excuse me, what the fuck? “And you never bothered to tell me that changelings could do that?” I just shot a death glare at her. “I never said that every changeling could do that, only I can do that,” she says proudly. “What a pain in the ass, anyway, she is now trying to be better, the event she was talking about it’s her public apologies, not a plan to take the throne, at least I hope so, because if she tries to do that, she knows what will happen” I hear she squeak like a rubber duck, cute but it’s also telling that she doesn’t want to be tickled to death as she puts it. “Did she, no it can’t be, Chrysalis doing an imitation of Flutershy? This is priceless” After saying this Twilight proceeds to laugh like Pinky usually does, which is kinda unsettling. “Alright laugh it off, you would do the same if he did the same to you,” Chrysalis says pouting. “And what did he do to you?” tears streaming down her eyes from too much laughing. “He tickled me, a lot, for 10 minutes nonstop” another crazy laugh from the lavender alicorn later. “It can’t be that bad, right?” She just looks at me, I shrug. “What’s going on here?” Ah, Zephyr, I was thinking what took her so long to arrive. “Hey Zephyr, took you long enough” She simply blew a raspberry at me, rude. “The royal dickhead of a queen there told me that you were in danger on the other side of the castle, and of course, I rushed there as fast as I could” She is low glaring daggers and Chrysalis. “Oh, come on, no harm done, just a broken window and a slight dent on the table” Zephyr’s eyes widened in response. “Excuse me what?” “You can blame this furball for that” I then proceed to lift Twilight in the air so that Zephyr can take a good look. She simply sighs and says, “Not again” and then pops her head out of the room and shouts, “CODE LAVENDER, MAIDS TO THE DINING ROOM” Just how many times did Twilight do this? Now with a deep blush on her face, the already small alicorn seems smaller. “Sorry,” She muttered under her breath, a couple of maids entered the room with a bored look on their faces. “Well, let’s take this meeting somewhere less breakable” Twilight made a sound close to something that Flutershy would do and took her place beside me. Tomorrow will be a nightmare, I can already see it. Author's Note Well, this chapter is in the smaller side of things, din't have much to say here, next one I'm hopping to give a bigger and more complex chapter, so it might take longer to write who knows. Once upon a time...Once upon a time, in a deep underground cave system, a changeling hive resided, thousands of little drones at their work, expanding the hive and collecting love energy from other species, but in an isolated room, a little nymph sits alone, giggling and playing by herself. She had two little wooden pony dolls, dolls that she found on the ground of the hive a drone might have dropped without knowing, she loved to play with those dolls for days on end, the problem is that her moth- “Chrysalis, where are you? You are late for your first love collecting mission” A shout came from one of the hallways, that’s the problem, her mother, she hated everything that the ponies made, actually, she just hated the ponies. Now the little princess nymph is panicking, hard, if her mother finds the dolls she will lose them forever, and it’s already lonely as it is, she can’t lose their only toys, her only friends she- The sound of the door bursting open echoes through the room, the nymph now is just frozen in place, it’s too late, nothing can be done now. “Chrysalis, why are you still here inside the castle and not out there doing your dut-” Her mother stops, while she was a little annoyed by the nymph's tardiness, it wasn’t a big deal, but now, her mother is wearing a big scowl and bearing her fangs. “What’s the meaning of this?” She simply asks in a cold tone. “Mom, it’s just some toys I fou-” “PONY TOYS” Her mom interjects now shouting. “PONY TOYS CHRYSALIS, YOU KNOW THAT WE CAN’T LOWER TO THEIR LEVEL, THEY ARE PREY AND WE ARE THE PREDATORS” The little nymph now looks smaller than she already is, she looks like she would start crying at any time now. “We are the mighty changeling race, not only that but you and I both are royalty” At least she stopped shouting. “This is unacceptable,” Her mom says while taking the dolls in her magic away from the little nymph. “NO, give them back” The little Chrysalis yells, now bawling her eyes out, her mom simply slaps her on the face. “NEVER use that tone on me again” Chrysalis recoils more in fear of her mother than the pain itself. With the dolls now in hoof, the queen chucked them into the ground and started stomping on them, Chrysalis only being able to watch the gruesome fate her dolls had met. After she feels it’s enough, the queen stops and burns the remains of the dolls with her magic, now they are nothing more than ash. “Now, little miss, you will go out there and collect love energy from those pitiful ponies as the drones command you, and they will be watching” The tone her mother took was less cold but strict. “Yes, ma'am,” The changeling princess says sadly, what else can she do other than obey? A couple of hours later, the princess is in a small town of ponies, she took the form of a white unicorn filly, intended to make any older pony try and help her. The sadness of earlier still hasn't gone, the ponies are looking at her with saddened eyes but nopony dares to talk to her. She then found herself in a small playground, occupied by three or four colts and fillies, she didn’t care for them though, she wanted to be alone, she then walked up to the swing, the only toy that was not being used right now, she just sited there, looking at the ground, she doesn’t know how much time has passed until she heard. “Hey, are you ok?” Looking up she sees a lavender blue unicorn filly asking her, with genuine concern in her eyes. “Leave me alone” It’s the only thing she mutters, the filly doesn’t move though. “You know, my mom always tells me that the best thing to do when you are feeling bad is to talk to a friend,” The filly says with a small smile on her face. “I don’t have any friends” Chrysalis retorts, it’s the truth, doesn’t mean it hurts any less. “Oh no, that’s bad, but you know what? I can be your friend!” The filly says with excitement “Only if you want to of course” A wide grin on her face. “I’m not allowed to make friends” If her mom finds out she is friends with a pony, who knows what might happen. “Why?” The filly asks with her head a little tilted to the side, confusion clearly spread through her face. “My mom doesn’t let me” A heavy sigh left Chrysalis. “Well, then we will be secret friends!” The filly says “Then you don’t have to worry about your mom finding out” Chrysalis couldn’t help but smile a little, this filly is the only one who tried to befriend her, and even after she was rude to her. “So, what do you say?” Chrysalis simply sighed. “It’s just...” She stops, how can she say anything without telling this filly about the changeling race? “It’s just that my mom always expects me to be something I don’t want to,” Chrysalis says sadly. “I can’t have friends, I can’t have toys, I can’t do anything fun” Her vision started to get blurry. “I can’t have fun,” She says lastly, now she is silently crying. “Oh, that’s really sad” The unicorn filly is clearly thinking of what to say now, she wasn’t expecting to get into such a complicated situation. “You know, you can always grow up to be a better pony” Chrysalis stops and looks at her. “What do you mean?” She simply asks. “Well, your mother clearly wants you to grow up to be a grumpy mare, but you can always be better” Those words, those simple words, how did Chrysalis never think of that? “You know what, you are right, thank you, eh...” “Oh, sorry, I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Sparkler," She says with a bright smile on her face, also holding her hoof in the air. “Chrysalis” Then I go and shake her hoof. “Pleasure to meet you!” She then pauses and jumps a little “Ah shoot, I should go home now, it’s getting late, see you later Chrysalis!” She starts trotting away, waving at Chrysalis with a smile on her face. “Yeah, see you soon,” Chrysalis says with a sad smile on her face, waving at the unicorn filly, she also feels something, she gathered enough love energy that her mission could be considered a success. If only those words she said that day would be true... “Hey Chryssi, is everything alright?” Anon asks. “Yes, everything is well, why do you ask?” Chrysalis says with a bit of annoyance in her voice. “Well, you have been staring at those dolls for the past five minutes or so, I got worried” “Ah, that, just memories from a past now forgotten” She responds with a little bit of sadness “Anyway, weren't we supposed to go see that tailor for the dress that the princess of the sun bought for the event next week?” Anon clearly has forgotten. “Ah shit, we will be late, let’s pick up the pace” The changeling queen now in a tall slender unicorn form giggles to herself. Well, it’s never too late to make that promise true. Author's Note Well, sorry for the long wait, this chapter was supposed to be the public apology from Chryssi, but I wasn't able to come up with anything interesting, and right after I had a rough week. But after reading "Past Sins" (if you haven't read it yet, go and read it right now) I got inspired to write again, so I came up with this chapter, a little backstory for our lovely queen Chrysalis. Also before you ask anything, yes this "Sparkler" is a reference to the G1 pony, but it isn't the same character, I have some plans about her, but oh well, that's a story for another day. The almost big day“Are you sure she is ready?” Celestia's sweet and caring voice hits my ears. She is clearly worried about Chryssi, but I don’t blame her. “Well, I’m not entirely sure. We should check on her.” Not that I don’t think Chryssi is ready for today, but all this is making me anxious. She looks brave and fearless, but she also looks frail and emotionally unstable. But eh, it might just be my imagination, right? Well, so much for that. When I open the door to her room, she is in a fetal position in a corner of the room, repeating “It will be fine” and “They won’t hate me” over and over. This will be difficult. “Uh, Chryssi are you alright?” I ask the poor changeling queen. “Fine? Yeah, I’m fine, I’m great, nothing to worry about” She is panicking, “Why shouldn’t I be fine? I will make a public apology for millions of ponies who I tried to enslave multiple times in history, nothing to worry about, besides maybe them hating me even after I try my best, they might want to see me in a dungeon, or worse, THEY MIGHT WANT TO DECAPITATE ME, WHAT SHOULD I DO ANON?” Now she is truly panicking, but she has a point, what if those ponies don’t believe in her? “Look, I can’t assure you of anything, but I can be sure of one thing, I will be there, no matter what everyone says, I will be there at your side if they end up wanting your head at a pike, they will have to get mine first” I put every ounce of sympathy and strength I have on these words, while looking directly into Chrysalis eyes. “Indeed, my dear friend Anon, while I haven’t spent much time recently with you Queen Chrysalis, I know that you have changed a lot in these past few months, and the fact that you are so worried about this proves me that fact” Celestia always beaming with that motherly aura she has. I see Chrysalis taking a deep breath to steady herself, and after a couple of them, she stands up. “Thank you, both of you, I think I'm ready now” Her voice is still a bit shaky and weak, but her eyes now burn with determination. “Alright, I will go see Twilight to make the preparations, Anon, can you help Queen Chrysalis to get ready?” “Sure, thing Princess, we will be ready for the right time” She nods and goes her own way, I dare to look at Chryssi, and she is a mess, her mane and tail are messy, her eyes swollen from crying, and she still is shaking a little from anxiety. “Alright bug butt, you need to get ready, come here” I grab a brush from her dressing table and sit on the ground, I pat right in front of me. “I’m not a nymph anymore, you can’t treat me like that” Again with the tough act. “Alright, I’m in no mood for this, come here” I get up and scoop her up by the barrel and get here to sit in front of me, the only protests I hear are some grumblings. “You will pay for that hyoo-, I mean, human,” She said my species name correctly this time, well, after fumbling a bit. “Sure Chryssi, now, stay still, I need to brush both your mane and tail,” I said in a more relaxed tone. “Since when do you know how to style a mane?” “Well, one of my dreams when I was younger was to be a hairdresser” “What is that hair thing you are saying” “Well, it’s what I have right here on my hea-” When I touch my head I remember, I’m bald as a fucking egg, shiny as a recently waxed floor. “Fuck” It’s all manage to say “Well, I used to have it, it’s like a mane, but usually shorter and way harder to deal with,” I say trying to explain the best I could “Hm, didn’t know your species could have any type of fur,” she says with true disbelief. “Hey, we can have lots of fur, but in humans, they are called hairs, one thing that I can still grow is a beard, if you want, I could stop shaving to show you” That seems to have piqued her interest. “You would look funny, bald in the top of the head, but with fur in the bottom of it” She snickers with her little joke. “Alright, I will keep shaving then” “Hey, I didn’t say that, I want to see how you look with a beard,” She says while pouting, this thing can be cute when she wants to be. “Alright bug butt, you win, I will let my beard grow, but it will take a couple of months for this, now, hold still” She lets out a... was that a fucking chirp? Changelings chirp? This is just weird. After a couple of hours of brushing and trying to get Chryssi on her clothes, it was time. “You sure that you are ready? We can always delay it if you need it” I say with concern to her. “No, that wouldn’t be right, I need to do this,” She says with true determination on her face. “Alright then, just remember, me, Twilight, Celestia, and Luna will all be there by your side if you need us” I shot a warm smile at her, and she did the same to me. “Thank you Anon, I’m glad that you are my friend, this was a quite hectic month, but here we are,” She says reminiscing the past few weeks we had together, while it was fun, it was also hell, this bug lady can be so much problem when she wants to, but she can also be sweet and caring, well, as caring as Chrysalis can be. “Alright, it’s time to do this,” She says while stepping forward to the balcony, this will decide the fate of a whole race. The big dayAs we both step out, the cool evening breeze blows past us. When I look at my side, I see Chrysalis in her new dress made specifically for this occasion: an obsidian dress with light green and white details all around. It was flowing with the light wind, and she looked beautiful. “Citizens of Equestria, we gather today for a very special event, one that will change not only the pony's lives but also the lives of other species, most of you might already know them, not in a positive light unfortunately... but I Princess Celestia of the Equestrian throne Diarchy can assure every single one of you that they are trying to be better. Now, without further due, hear what our guest of honor has to say, Queen Chrysalis, may you step forward please?” After the not-so-little speech, Celestia nods to her side, where Chrysalis stands a few steps behind, after a quick breath exercise, she steps forward. When she becomes visible to the crowd, things get... a bit shaky, a lot of whispers and murmurs can be heard from the crowd, and lots of worried eyes, even the soldiers look ready to pounce at any time. “Dear citizens of Equestria, I, Queen Chrysalis of the Changeling kind am here not as an enemy or obstacle, I’m here as an ally or a friend for some” She then looks at me, taking a brief pause. “Today, as Princess Celestia said, is a very special date, I’m here to say a single word that many may find easy to say without thought, but in reality, it’s a hard word to mean it, I’m here, to apologize” She then kneels so low that her face is almost touching the ground. That wasn’t part of what we trained for, not only is the crowd surprised, but also Celestia and Luna, hell, even I am surprised by this action. “I’m sorry everyone, I’m sorry if I hurt you or your family, I’m sorry if didn’t hurt you directly either, all of my past actions were acts of stupidity, pride, and desperation” After a couple more minutes, she gets up, looking at the crowd in front of her. “But after my last attempt at taking the equestrian throne, I met Anon, at first, I hated him, he was weak as a rat, frail as a stick, but still, he was able to defeat me” After a light chuckle, she proceeds. “Even so, he didn’t beat me with violence, and his first act was to befriend me, not only that, but he also helped me and my subjects to integrate with Ponykind, and he also made me remember a promise of decades ago, a single filly that I can’t forget to this day, I made her a promise to be better, even though, now she is just a memory of the past, I will honor our promise, for this day onward, I Queen Chrysalis, will only be called Chrysalis, the Changeling race will be part of the equestrian regime under the Princess of the Sun and Moon, no more Queens” Holy shit, did she mean that? She can’t be serious right? After many, and I do mean MANY gasps of shock, not only by the ponies, but also by the changelings and the rulers, Chrysalis picks up her crown, chugs her in the air, and blasts it with magic, once what was an obsidian crown, only dust remains. Nothing but a whisper I hear the now Ex-Queen say “I will make you proud Sparkler” And it seems I wasn’t the only one who heard that, Twilight of all ponies looks at Chrysalis with shock in her expression. With the speech now done, only one thing remains, what will the crowd say? Most ponies there are silent, evaluating their choices, until 5 colorful ponies in the middle of the crowd shout at the top of their lungs. “IF TWILIGHT AND ANON TRUSTS YOU, WE TRUST YOU” I will be dammed, the elements of harmony were the first to forgive her, that much I wasn’t expecting. After these first few words, the crowd went wild, every single pony there was cheering and congratulating Chrysalis and the changeling kind, but you know what was the best thing to see here? Chrysalis's face was not only surprised, but now, she was crying, not from sadness or anxiety, but out of happiness, I can’t control myself anymore. “Come here Bug Butt” I go there and hug the big changeling, and the only thing I hear is quiet sobbing with chuckles in-between, why is the big bug horse lady so fucking cute? After a couple of minutes have passed and both celestial sisters have thanked their subjects, we go back inside, Chrysalis is beaming with confidence and happiness, I try to keep myself from messing with her but I can’t. “So-” As I start to talk, I get interrupted by no other than Twilight. “So Quee-, I mean, Chrysalis, you sure are happy now for somepony that hated the concept of friendship huh?” I see a sly smile on her face, cheeky Twilight. “I... I guess it isn’t as bad as I thought, but that doesn’t mean I will do those prissy lessons you do” Damn girl, didn’t need to touch that subject. “My friendship lessons aren’t prissy!” Twilight now pouting ruffle her wings with annoyance. From all being in the hallway now, I didn’t expect to hear Celestia laughing at this, as so did everyone else since we all stopped and looked at her with confusion. “What? Is there something on my face?” She asks innocently. “Well, no, but I wasn’t expecting you of all ponies to be so lighthearted with all this” I was the first to say. “Why so?” She asks looking at me. “Well, since Chrysalis started living here in the castle, I started to study the changeling story throughout Equestria, and well, both you and Chrysalis have quite the extensive list of battles I will say that much” I look at Chrysalis, I see her awkwardly smiling at me. “I see, well, I won’t lie, I’m not entirely happy with the situation, as you said, Chrysalis already caused a lot of problems not only for me but for Equestria as a whole” She then looks at Chryssi “But I can’t ignore the fact that she is indeed trying to be better, she has a lot to do before I can truly forgive her, but, I don’t hate her either” I can’t quite say I was surprised by this response, knowing Celestia she probably already was planning on befriending the changeling kind anyway. “Oh yeah, I forgot to ask back then Chrysalis, but did you say you made a promise to a pony named Sparkler?” Twilight asks the changeling with a serious tone. “Yeah, she was a filly I met when I was a little nymph, in a quiet village close to the badlands, I fear it doesn’t exist anymore, it has been 80 years now,” Chrysalis says while looking nowhere in particular. “That’s... no, it can’t be, Chrysalis, tell me, would you be able to recognize that pony if you see a photo of her again?” Why is Twilight so pushy about this? Something isn’t right. “Probably, changelings can remember faces for decades easily,” she says with a proud tone. After 2 quick pops, Twilight teleports to somewhere and comes back in a few minutes, she then hands Chryssi an old photo of an old mare holding a baby in her hoofs, the baby I assume is Twilight, the older mare had a purple mane with a brighter purple for her coat, she had a cutie mark of three diamonds. “That’s her indeed, but wait, why is she holding a baby you?” The changeling looks back at Twilight with a confused glance. “She was my great-grandmother,” Twilight says with the most confused look I have seen. “What?” All the other ponies (and human) say in unison. Author's Note Welp, remember when I said that I was working on the next "My Little Lunar Guard" chapter? I lied (sort of), I was indeed working on it, but I sort of got into the groove for this chapter Anyway, I said that Sparkler would be brought up later didn't I? It won't be anything life changing for the plot but it will be a little fun exploring this version of the character, at least I hope so. I don't know how much longer this fic will last not gonna lie, probably around 3-5 more chapters, maybe more, maybe less, we will see, I still want to do 2 big things with the story in this, I won't say what but hey, that's why you are here aren't you?
