In the Crystal Castle, Flash Sentry had just finished getting into his armor after having woken up.

The soldier was wide awake and ready for another day of protecting the kingdom, the pegasus being in charge of a patrol out in the snowy wastelands to make sure no creatures had come down from the Crystal Mountains. He finished getting the last of his armor on and headed out whilst carrying his helmet under his arm.

As he made his way towards the dining hall, Flash thought about the dream he had had the previous night.

It was a dream he had had many times before, where he was relaxing in a natural hot spring in the middle of the woods. He had had it so many times, he always knew he was dreaming whenever he had it. Of course, that meant he knew he could do whatever he wanted in the dream, such as fight a hydra or turn into a robot. And, of course, be with any mare he could imagine.

As Flash made his way down the stairs to the lower sections of the castle, he remembered one hot spring dream he had had over a month ago. When he suddenly found himself staring at a naked vision of Princess Luna.

Flash quickly stood to attention and bowed his head at them. "Your majesty." The three smiled as they approached him.

"At ease, Sentry." Shining nodded as Flash relaxed. "Be careful today. A lot of lives are counting on your leadership today. Stay focused, but don't let yourself get overwhelmed by what's happening."

"Thank you, captain. I'll be sure to try that."

Cadance smiled. "You're certainly proving yourself to be a dependable soldier. Keep this up and you might find yourself rising through the ranks." She rubbed her protruding belly as she said that. "Maybe you can become this one's personal guard one day. We're looking into one for Flurry when she gets older and by the time this one will need one, I'm sure you'll be the perfect rank for it."

Flash let that information sink in and slowly, felt like there was something more to it.

If he had been with the real Cadance that night, it could mean the child she was carrying was his. And if that was the case, was she offering him a way to be in that child's life without revealing the truth. "It would be my honour," Flash replied.

The royal family smiled before walking off, Flash sighing as soon as they were gone.

He quickly double timed it to the dining hall and arrived as the first course was being served. He quickly got in line and grabbed a plate full of everything he would need for the day ahead. He then spotted his friends, Cluster and Runestone, and headed over to them.

Sitting opposite them, he saw Runestone reading a paper whilst Cluster was stuffing his face.

"Hey champ," Cluster smirked through a mouth full of food. "Ready to lead us all into the jaws of death?" Flash gave him a glare, making him laugh and causing Flash to pray he choked on his food. "I'm kidding. We all know you'll do great."

"Thanks." Flash started eating, as he glanced over at the paper Runestone had. It was then that he noticed a particular pony on the front cover, making him curious about what was happening. "Why is Princess Luna on the front page?"

Runestone smirked, as she closed the paper and showed it to him properly. "Check it out." Flash leaned forward and as he stared at the image, his eyes went wide.

"No way. Moon Princess to be Moon Mother?" He grabbed the paper and read the article. "Sources have confirmed that Princess Luna is with child. Information from the Canterlot Castle staff states that the Princess of the Night has been taking several trips to the royal physician for pregnancy related symptoms. The Royal Sister have confirmed this morning that Princess Luna is one month pregnant."

"Can you believe it?" Runestone laughed. "Princess Luna got herself knocked up. I never would have thought she'd wind up like that, given how old fashioned she always appeared."

Cluster turned to her. "Weren't you just as old fashioned when we first arrived in this century?" Runestone glared at him, as Flash kept reading the news article.

"The Princesses have yet to announce the name of the father, but many assume it was somepony on the castle's night patrol. Since Luna is only awake during the night, many speculate the only individuals likely to be the father are fellow nocturnal ponies. But no proof on this theory can be found."

"I wonder who it was," Runestone smiled. "Whoever they are, they must be one heck of a stallion. To actually seduce the Princess of the Night and get away with impregnating her. Honestly, I never would have thought anypony would have the stones for that."

"Yeah," Cluster nodded, "I'd never be able to pluck up the guts to do that. Not in my wildest dreams." He turned to Flash. "What about you?"

Flash stared at the image of Luna on the paper and remembered what had happened over a month ago. Around the same time Luna would have first gotten pregnant. Luna, who could enter a pony's dreams. Could it be...

"Flash?" Runestone asked as he snapped out of it, "you okay? You zoned out there for a moment."

"I'm fine," Flash assured her. "But to answer you Cluster. Maybe. I've had some pretty wild dreams before." The two wondered what he meant by that, but Flash said nothing and got up to leave. "Some pretty wild dreams indeed."
