Princess Flurry Heart

Previous Chapter

After she and Sombra went to sleep Cadence tossed and turned through the night. Eventually she felt a sharp pain in her stomach. Sombra awoke at the feeling of his beloved tossing and turning and quickly moved to check on Cadence. She took in a sharp breath and Sombra leapt off the bed and into the hallway to alert the guards to get the healers. Cadence wanted to stand up and despite Sombra's panic she got off the bed. She began pacing the room, every once in a while breathing hard before returning to walking. She was doing whatever it felt like her body told her to do. The healers arrived and Ukara gave Cadence a look over, it was wasn't quite time yet but it would be soon. One of the guards went to go fetch Tamaar so she could alert Rabia and Samaar.

Sombra walked alongside her as she paced. Minutes felt like hours as she started to feel the pains come more often. Soon Rabia and Samaar came in to see them. Rabia gave her some tips on what to do and to listen to her body more than anyone else. It knew what to do. They stayed with her until the pains started to get really close together. Cadence let out a sharp, high-pitched breath that alerted Ukara to check her again. Afterwards she ushered everyone else out of the room. Sombra was not having it, there was no way he was going to on the other side of a door again. It wasn't normal but Ukara allowed him to stay with her. After they helped Cadence on the bed she began to feel very hot. This prompted Sombra to wipe around her face while whispering sweet things to her. The pain grew sharper and Cadence grabbed Sombra'a leg and squeezed through it.

"Almost time you two! Your little bundle of joy is almost here." Ukara said happily trying to lighten the mood.

"Brave the goddesses this hurts!" Cadence shouted after an intense contraction. She felt something change and looked at Ukara.

"When you feel it give me a really big push." Ukara guided her. Sombra held one of her hooves and kissed her forehead. "Your doing wonderfully my love. Just a little longer."

Suddenly the hardest pain she had ever felt coursed through her and she started pushing. She knew she was supposed to breath but she couldn't help but yell. After she grew exhausted she fell back on the bed, panting with what little energy she had left.

Then a wail silenced the room. Cadence did her best to lean up to see her new foal. Sombra pushed her head up but she still could barely see. She could see he was choked up by what he saw. Ukara wrapped the foal in a little pink blanket and walked over to the new parents.

"She is a very special girl." Cadence stared in wonder at her newborn filly. Her coat was white as snow and she had a umbrum umbrum face and black horn, only exception was the pink and gold tip. Ukara passed her to Cadence who stared at her with utmost affection. Now she knew the feeling her own mother had towards her. She always connected with Selena but this was a whole new level. Sombra had started crying as he knelt by Cadence watching his new daughter wiggle in her swaddle. He didn't take his eyes off her as he pulled the swaddle aside to show Cadence what he saw. Cadence gasped when she saw two white wings, each tipped in pink. Their baby was an alicorn, the first one ever in the Empire. Cadence could hear Sombra's heart fluttering as he stared at their baby, equal parts wonder and confusion.

"Flurry Heart, her name will be Flurry Heart."

Rabia and Samaar were also shocked when they met the little filly, in fact the entire castle was shocked. Alicorns only existed in the south and they all hated each other. Immortal raging immoral wars and causing disharmony and disrupting balance wherever they go. Many didn't even think it was possible with so much disharmony in the world that an alicorn so pure could exist. This proved to Cadence and Sombra the Empire was one of if not the only peaceful place anywhere near Equestria.

Selena was overjoyed to have a new playmate and couldn't wait until Flurry heart was old enough to play. She said when Flurry was ready she could have her old nursery and they could share her room.

Life in the Empire could not have been better. Eventually they would take in a new group of runaways from the south but that's for a different story. As for Cadence and Sombra, they will return one day but for now,

The End.
