For over six-centuries the Order of Witchers watched dutifully over the populace of Terra Firma, a land once belonging to the many long-lived species known as the Eldar Races which now plays host to a foreign nation. Having fled across the World Gate from a land that was falling to ruin, Princess, now Empress, Celestia and her people the Equestrians, have laid their roots deep into their new home. However...gracious guests they proved not to be as a foreign God came through with them as well, and began to establish itself over what lands had been bequeathed by (and later taken from) the Eldar. A Darkness born of the utter depths of the earth rose up in response to challenge it, an Abyss which twisted all life caught near it and called forth monstrous beings from other worlds of its own to enact its will. The Witchers had been intentionally created in response to these beings, professional warriors highly trained in the deadly arts and mutated through Alchemy and Arcane ritual alike to be more than a fitting match for the enemies they faced. Yet...good times breeds complacency in those born with short memories, and new woes always rush in to overrule old ones which have been solved. When Celestia happens upon a Relic of the worlds' very Creation...the temptation to ensure the needs of her people were met was too much, and a Cleansing by divine fire was undertaken. In the fragmented remains of the old world, and the tentative Eldar-Equestrian peace which followed, those Witchers who remain must ask themselves: is continuing on the Witcher's Path truly the thing they wished to do the rest of their lives? Or would they rather falter along the way and abandon it in search of some easier, more profitable way?
