Chapter 01: Dank Dreams and Dragon Things
Written by TheCrimsonDM
During the search for the Crystal Heart and to destroy the evils of King Sombra, Twilight Sparkle had ventured deep into the lair only to find a magical barrier that had stopped her dead in her tracks. Having seen Celestia use a dark magic spell just before coming here, Twilight replicated the spell, sure that this was the key to the barrier ahead. However, once she'd used it, her mind was struck by a vivid and painful illusion. One of Celestia casting her aside, throwing her away like she was nothing. Yet that was not all. She saw something else in her mind's eye at that time. A mirror image to her, pupils shaped like hearts, her tail tight and thin, ending in a sharp spade, and a pair of demonic wings on her back. There was a strange, gluttonous look in her eyes. A look that sent shivers down Twilight's spine.
Ever since then, Twilight had began changing. Changing in ways she didn't understand, nor approved of.
***
Some months later.
Twilight woke up in her bed feeling her heart racing fast. Her body sweating. A wet spot having formed between her legs. She'd had that dream again. The one she did her best to try and eliminate from her brain space as much as possible. The golden oaks library wasn't nearly big enough for her and her wild sleeping imagination, even if she knew it must be a metaphor for something. She couldn't help but to feel embarrassed, or perhaps even ashamed of the dream itself. It was just too... depraved.
No she was the student to Princess Celestia of Equestria. She couldn't be lewd, or perverted, or depraved. She was the pure foal prodigy of the princess herself. She had been for ten whole years now. Though one day she would graduate from her mentorship, that day was far off in the distance. An issue to worry about at a later date, but not now. Never now.
Though looking down at the mess she'd made, the tingly warmth still residing between her legs. She couldn't deny that some part of her must have broken out of that cozy ring of protection. That lie she told herself every day. The picture of perfection that was a shallow as a thin layer of ice on a treacherously deep and cold pond. She was very much a weirdo at heart she was sure of it. Though she wished anything but.
The dream was simple, she was in a throne room of her own, surrounded by her friends, by Spike, by Celestia and Luna. And everyone was... kissing. They would trade partners and kiss each other. The sight, the sounds, the imagined smell of it all was just too much for her little sleepy brain to handle. She had even asked Luna to cancel that dream, but given last night Luna, or at least a separate Luna than the one who was kissing her own sister, was just watching with a gleeful expression that sent shivers down Twilight's spine even in the waking hours. Had Luna gone into her dream just to watch it? Not to stop anything at all? Or was she trying to help by understanding the dream for her? Which was not Twilight's request mind, but it was thoughtful perhaps.
At least she didn't look revolted. So Twilight figured she probably wouldn't get in trouble from this one... well she hoped she wouldn't get in trouble. She could only imagine the cruel words that Celestia would have for her if she had even an inkling of the types of perversion that Twilight had stored in her brain. Twilight wished she could just be normal for once. Shook her head and finally got out of bed. Ignoring the sticky wet spot she'd left behind in her mad dream state. She'd have to clean up before going outside today for sure.
Spike was still sleeping in the little dog bed. Twilight had attempted to get him a real bed, but until he had another growth spurt he was said he'd like to stay in this one. Given the late night research she let him sleep in. After all she could take care of herself for once. Coffee and breakfast, who couldn't do that?
Five minutes later Twilight sat at the kitchen table with a bowl of cereal that had caught on fire and a cup coffee.
"Well at least I got the coffee right..."
A familiar and musical voice chimed from behind her. "Mayhaps we will teach you to make cereal one of these days... amongst other things involving milk and cream."
Twilight spun around and saw the princess of the night standing in her kitchen. Having snuck in through the backdoor and giving her a mischievous look. Clearly having remembered her dream from the night before. Twilight let out a sigh and prayed that Luna was as good at keeping secrets as her namesake would imply. Offering a seat nearby Luna took it and poured herself a cup of coffee. The only thing Twilight could make right. Coffee and tea.
"I'm sorry about my dream. Now you can see why I wish for you to stop the dreams. Their... not fit for the student of Celestia." Twilight admitted with shame filling her heart.
"Oh my, never apologize for a dream, Twilight. They are always informative and valuable. I had expected a nightmare from the way you had described it. Yet what we saw instead was a wet dream that made even our bodies, cold as they are, warm up in devious pleasure."
"I know I'm just awful I... um... what did you just say?"
"You heard me the first time, Twilight Sparkle."
"You enjoyed that nightmare? It’s just awful though. I, I couldn't, and kissing is so, and it’s everyone, and your own sister!"
"I know it was magical. To see the more perverse side that you hide from us. There is nothing to be ashamed about Twilight, we all have such dreams. Yet you have been having this, and others like, for some time no?"
"... Unfortunately. I want them to stop. It's making me think..."
"Think what?”
"That I might need to talk to Cadence about a 'romance' problem. I can handle friendships, platonic love and all that. But romance..."
This made Luna pause and drink her coffee in silence for a moment before sighing and offering a warm smile. "We will help."
"I... I already thought you agreed to that?"
"No, I mean we will help you with a new problem. Your love life. You love all these ponies, me, and my sister. Then so be it, we will help make your dream come true."
Twilight stared in silence, as horror slowly crept up along her spine. She didn't want help. This was just a weird dream. A problem to be rid of. Not a goal or desire. That would be simply too much. Kissing and kissing more than one pony, that was just downright wrong! Yet... some part of her couldn't deny the temptation put forth by Luna's offer.
"Can I think about it before you help?"
"Of course my dear. Anything for you, we will see you tonight at the party dear."
Before Twilight could process the way she phrased that, Luna turned into a blue mist and flew out her window. Leaving Twilight to desperately try and figure out what kind of mess she just got herself into.
...
An hour later Twilight had gotten to organizing her books. Specifically she was tackling a section on the history of Equestrian cooking and the history of cooking from neighboring countries. There were a lot of old countries, names, places, and things now lost and forgotten. It was almost heart breaking in a way to think so much history had been lost in the last couple thousand years, but just as much history had been created as well. So it wasn't all bad. From the loss of something old something new and beautiful could be made. A thought that sometimes kept her awake long into the night.
Twilight was vaguely aware of the end goal for her mentorship. Unless she somehow failed her mentor her goal was to end in her own ascension to alicornhood. After all that was the entire goal of being trained by the princess of Equestria and goddess of the sun. Still, the thought lingered from time to time, could she really handle that? Centuries would churn by, the lives of her loved ones becoming but mere sparks in the light of a dying campfire. Leaving her alone to stand with Luna, Celestia, and Cadence. Oh, and her brother apparently. No one had explained to her exactly how his lifespan had been tied to Cadence’s but they had mentioned it in passing once, when they thought she wasn't listening.
Just as she had finished sorting out the last of the books, Spike walked in, holding a cup of coffee in his claws and looking at her. "So, how goes the book organizing... again?"
"Fine. I just finished this section and was about to tackle the Equestrian history of fishing."
"But I thought you hated fish?"
"I never said that. I said I don't like it when they still look like fish. Batter them, fry them, dice them, slice them and I'll eat fish all day long... don't tell Fluttershy I said that."
"I won't. Last time I even mentioned the idea of meat as food she nearly threw me into a wall."
"You’re over exaggerating."
"Am I?"
"..."
Twilight chose to not think too hard about that one. She knew better than most that Fluttershy, for all her kindness, beauty, and fragile appearances, could be the most fearsome thing out there when it came to animals. It was better to take precaution than risks in that regard. Luckily she hadn't shown to think of fish quite the same way, even going so far as to fish herself and give the treats to her little pets. Something that had made the mare come by and borrow a few books on the subject itself from time to time.
Spike took a drink from his cup of coffee and eyed up the books on the shelf. "I had a question for you."
"Go ahead, Spike. From what I've researched you’re pretty much an adult dragon mentally now. Just smaller because-"
"Because you refuse to let me grow a hoard like a normal dragon. Yada yada. I gave up on trying to be a big dragon, there's small ones too right."
"Oh of course, the smallest species recorded is only the side of your average house cat."
"Oh, and what does that make me?"
"I'm still not sure. There are so many varied species of dragons out there. Some are serpents. Some are wish crafters. Some as large as the cosmos. Some small as cats. Each one magic and unique in their own way."
"How come nobody talks about this kind of stuff?"
"Because the recorded history we have on dragons and their history, culture, and practices isn't just rare, it’s also sporadic. I can tell you a little about each species we know, but not a lot about any one species. The fact your egg is ancient and probably stolen doesn't help."
"Yeah... yeah."
Twilight walked over to him and nuzzled his cheek. Inhaling his smoky scent as she did. Was it just her or was his scent growing heavier, thicker lately? He'd grown up so strangely to her. Hatched from an egg, then rather than growing in small increments like a pony might, he would have random growth spurts. His first one happened only a few months after his hatching and came with the ability to speak in full sentences and comprehend things on the level of a pony dozens of times his age. Though his mind hadn't grown quite as much since then, she could sometimes glean a bit of that ancient maturity that was hidden within him. Some said that dragons were not born so much as 'reborn', that when a dragon does pass away, a new egg would hatch with that old dragon's soul reborn into it to start anew. Not unlike the phoenix.
There was no proof of this kind of behavior yet of course. But it never hurt to keep such things in mind while trying to study and raise him. Though most of that raising was done by Celestia... Celestia who had raised both of them. From their youth, through the awkward phases of teenage and hormones, to young adulthood where they presently sat. It only left the question of where they would go from there.
Spike finished his coffee as he looked over at one book that was out of place on the table. "Oh, heh, that's that book Rarity was borrowing."
Twilight looked over at it. The title was simple but a little confusing as she readi t out loud. "Love upon magic wings."
"It’s one of those smutty sex filled erotic book things you don’t like." Spike answered this so coldly that she nearly spat.
"Spike!"
"What? I can't be blamed if you’re the one lagging behind in that department."
Twilight's eyes widened in abject horror as he turned around and walked away. She felt the gears twisting and turning in her brain. Ideas and thought she refused to think about. She put those ideas aside and very quickly, put that book back where it belonged. She was going to choose not to ask any damning questions of the dragon. Instead choosing to play ignorance.
That would help her right?... Right?
