Chapter Nineteen: Of Seduction and Vomit

Applejack stared at the door to the shed and let out a huff. This was not how she planned to spend her morning. Rarity was looking a little apprehensive herself. However, there was still that playful flirty look that made Applejack's heart skip a beat. She was pretty tempted to just make the best of this situation and get all snugly with her for a little while. However, this was the last place she'd get away with it. It was cramped and the shed was not exactly in the strongest condition. So kicking the door down might destroy the whole thing.

"Darling, why not come over here and kiss me."

Applejack rolled her eyes. "You realize we're stuck in here don'tcha?"

"Yes, well, that just means nopony can interfere with us."

"Rarity, ya'll have been acting mighty flip-floppy the past few days."

"Well... yes, yes I have. I apologize if my actions are confusing. I do mean it when I say I love you."

"And what about this plan to get me hitched to Celestia?"

"Oh that's simple, I love you enough to let you have what your heart really desires. If it's me I'd be happy, if it's Celestia I'd be less happy, but still happy. I just want you to feel the same love that me and Rainbow do."

Well that sounded more like her at least. Applejack sat down and tried to figure out the best way to get out of here. She was going to need some kind of plan. Since she had the key, and Rainbow Dash just took off, there was going to be some trickery to get out of here, that much was for sure. Yet, how was she going to get out, that was the question. Still looking at Rarity she watched as Rarity's shoulders slumped and her ears fell flat. She wasn't in the flirty mood anymore it would seem.

"You okay, Rares?"

"No... no I am not. I just found out that me and Rainbow Dash are not allowed to adopt Scootaloo due to an old Ponyville law that makes no sense. Apparently, unless they are directly blood related you can only adopt one foal. And since I adopted Sweetie that means I can't adopt Scootaloo."

Applejack felt that heartache in her soul. She reached out and gave Rarity a hug. "Shh, it's okay. We can still adopt her here. We made a spare room fer her and all."

"Why are adoption laws such a mess. You had to go out of your way to build a whole room for her that was approved by the slowest moving council in all of Equestria, and I can't because my little Sweetie Belle was born first."

"You mean adopted, but... yeah. We are in Ponyville, and fer as good as it has, sometimes things are old and stupid. Most things are old and good, but not all of them."

Rarity nodded as she held Applejack in return. "I will support you adopting her with all of my might."

"Thank you."

Applejack did have something she wanted to bring up to Rarity about the adoption, about Sweetie Belle herself. A sneaking hunch she'd had ever since Rarity went on that one year-long vacation with her parents to someplace unknown and came back with a brand new sister. However, she couldn't bring herself to ask such... inappropriate questions. Not now.

Applejack just let out a sigh of defeat and looked at the locked door. "Ah'm pretty sure Ah'd date anypony that opened that door and let us free."

Rarity sighed. "Me too."

A red glow surrounded the door handle, it unlocked and the door opened up. Twilight Sparkle stood there with a sly smile on her lips. "I'll take that offer. From both of you."

Rarity walked into her home, feeling the weight of the world on her shoulders. Once inside she walked into the kitchen, took a seat at the table and using a flicker of magic she grabbed hold of a bottle of Rose Quartz Wine, skipping the glass entirely she just opened it up and took a nice long drink. The delightful liquid was meant to be savored, not guzzled down. So she only allowed herself the first long gulp. After that she would nurse the bottle more gently.

Rarity let out a defeated sigh. "Oh, Rarity, what in the world did you get yourself into this time?"

Rainbow Dash's hoof steps, clumsy, loud, and like the drumbeat of doom sounded as Rarity watched her lover enter the kitchen. "Hey, Rares, glad you're home. How did the thing go with AJ? Did she agree or what?"

"Or what indeed." Rarity took another drink of her wine. She was feeling the heat flush her cheeks already. It was soothing, and calmed her nerves enough to think about what exactly had happened a little clearer.

"Uh, Rares, you good?"
Rainbow Dash had taken a seat across from her and was giving Rarity a concerned look. "Oh how precious you are my love. The most kind and loving pegasus of them all. How could I ever fail you like this."

"If she said no, that's cool too. We don't have to make her do anything." Rainbow Dash reached out and pet Rarity's hoof. "It's not a fail if she said no, she just has different interests you know. It's nothing to do with you or me."

"Oh you precious sweet, sweet mare. You don't deserve an ugly excuse for a pony like myself to be your lover. You think Applejack rejected me."

"Well... the way you're acting, it's the only thing I can think of. Granted, I can't believe she'd say no either, but maybe she's just nervous or something."

"Honey, Applejack didn't get a chance to say yes or no. The lavender hellspawn interrupted us."

"The uh... what?"
Rarity let out a sigh. Took another drink from her wine, and for the first time in years got a craving to smoke. She didn't have any, and she wasn't about to ask Rainbow Dash to get any, in fact she never wanted Rainbow Dash to know that she used to smoke. When she was younger she did a lot of things she wasn't proud of. Messy, horrible things, things that made her parents have to leave Ponyville for an entire year kind of things...

"Rarity, are you okay, you look awful."

"Thanks for the vote of confidence darling."

"... what?"

"Never you mind that. I have to confess the event went poorly. Very poorly. It would seem we have misjudged things and that Twilight was the real threat all along. Sadly I fear she may have won already... and I'm not sure I'm all too upset about it. So I'm drinking until I stop being happy and become upset again. For your sake."

"Okay, you seriously need to explain what's going on. Did Twilight do something, some weird spell or something again?"

Rarity took a drink, swished the sweet liquid in her mouth a few times and then swallowed. Oh yes, that hit the spot indeed. "Not as much as you'd think. I was just talking to Applejack, about the adoption situation, and how much it breaks our hearts. Then I nearly had her won over too. When Twilight Sparkle shows up and she tricked us both into agreeing to a date with her! By all the forces in heaven, how could Twilight be so clever?"

"...Uh... you mean Twilight Sparkle, as in the 'currently dating Fluttershy and is an idiot egghead' Twilight Sparkle."

"Yes the one and the same."

"Well huh... that is uh... weird. Like real weird.... Wait did you just say you flipping agreed to go on date with her? Rarity, we didn't talk about that."

"I know, my precious flying angel pony. I am a disgrace. Yet now that she tricked me, I fear I must go on the date or else face the consequences of an upset Twilight. And we all know that an upset Twilight is not one to mess with."

"Just tell her you thought she meant it as a friend or something?"

"And what if she wanted more from me?"

"And what if she wants more from you? You're dating me, and possibly AJ now. Not her."

"I can't just tell her no."
"Why not?"

"She might do something horrid."

Rainbow Dash puffed out her chest. "And so what we'll face it together."

"Oh Rainbow Sweetie... I know that you are right, but..."

"But what?"

"But there was something about her... something enchanting. Even now I can't deny that I... I think I want her..."

Rainbow Dash lowered her head a bit. Her eyes darted to the bottle of wine. "What about Fluttershy?"

"Twilight said she already explained the situation to Fluttershy and she agreed."

Rainbow Dash leaned back, her eyes were closed and her face a mask of stoicism. "I see."

Rarity felt very hot. She took another drink of the wine bottle and... it was empty? When did it get empty? Did it have a leak? "No more wine?"
"Rarity, I think maybe you're a little too drunk for this conversation right now."

"Sweetie baby angel doll, I... I think you're right. But also I think, if this bothers you, I will tell Twilight no... but I will need you to stand with me when I do. I think I'm both scared and attracted to her and it's making my brain feel all funny."

"It's okay. I don't mind if you want to go on a date with Twilight, so long as Fluttershy knows. On the condition that I get to join the date too."

"Done."

"Good..."

"Are you mad at me?"

"No, no I'm not. I was getting a funny feeling from Twilight the other day myself. Like... I think I got the hots for her too. I can't put my hoof on it, but something's up with that mare. Maybe she's more crafty than I thought. Putting those big brains to work to get what she wants... even if that includes us."

"Exactamundo! You understand my love. My turtle dove. My- hurgh." Rarity covered her mouth her hooves as she fell off the chair and made her way to the trash. Without saying a word, Rainbow Dash was there by her side and holding back Rarity's beautiful purple curls as Rarity upended the entire bottle of wine, plus whatever else she'd eaten this morning. Rainbow Dash really was the best mare a filly could ask for.
