Twilight was starting to relax, she'd had to get an ice pack from the fridge and sit on it to cool down the heat rising through her. If she didn't know any better she'd have said that Cadance was here and playing some kind of prank on her with that devilish magic of hers. Yet she had not seen any signs of that, and even when she used a magical radar spell she couldn't find any trace of Cadance's energy. Which meant that this strange cursed feeling she had, was entirely Twilight Sparkle's fault. Nopony else was to blame. Not this time.
Looking down at the records as she sat behind her desk she was busy studying them and trying to figure out what books she may need to order based on popular request. So far ponies were really into farming books or domestic stuff around Ponyville, but history, magic, and fine arts were less popular. Still there had been a growing interest in romance books recently, perhaps heat season really was on its way and just taking its time on everypony. Twilight shook her head, perhaps this was the exact reason why she'd been so attracted to all of her friends lately and Luna was just messing with her with that promise to 'help' her out. Though it struck her as odd that Luna would so readily agree to it. She hadn't thought about it at the time, more shocked than anything else but could it be that Luna had feelings for her?
If Luna did indeed have such feelings, Twilight would have to consider what to do with them. She was interested to be sure in trying to explore those, but her own heart felt confused on the subject. She just... well she cared deeply for all the ponies in her life. So deeply in fact that it hurt her. Sometimes she could feel this heavy cloud in her mind, one that would push down on her and tell her that no matter how much she might love others she'd never get the same love back. That nopony could ever understand how she felt. She did her best to push these clouds away every time they appeared, but it was getting harder by the day to fully and truly ignore them.
Twilight had been lost in thought again so she almost missed it when the little bell at the door chimed and it opened up to reveal another stunning example of grace and beauty. This time a much more subdued beauty, a grace that was quiet, soft spoken, like a teasing whisper in one's ear late at night. It took every ounce of willpower she had to not go red in the face thinking about the mare in question leaning behind her, pressing her soft subtle lips to Twilight's ear and whispering three little words that would send her heart aflutter.
Fluttershy walked up the counter and beamed at her. "Twilight, oh I have such wonderful news."
That was her Fluttershy alright... wait 'her' Fluttershy? when did Twilight start thinking like that? Oh no that was a dangerous line of thought, Twilight closed it off and tried to return the smile. "Oh what's going on?"
Fluttershy stood in front of the desk, her beautiful smile was positively stunning. The way her hair dropped down, the scent of butter and honey made Twilight's entire body shiver with joy. Why did Fluttershy have to be so appealing?
"Oh Twilight, it's just so wonderful indeed. I found a new animal friend in my backyard today. My tiny home just got a new friend."
Fluttershy's house was not tiny, it was impressively large, mostly because of the basement. Though Twilight had only been in there once, without permission, and from an accidental teleport spell gone horribly awry, the basement was huge. It was like an entirely separate house, but it went largely unused by the kind gentle pony. It probably scared her in all honesty. It was pretty much empty, containing only some snacks and a small set of furniture. As well as an odd odor, like skunks, but was otherwise empty as could be.
"A new friend I take it?"
"Oh yes, a new friend indeed. I'm not entirely sure what they are, so I came here to look for a book on magical creatures."
"Oh that one again, you know where to find it right?"
"I did, but you um... did such a good job organizing that I couldn't find it last time."
Twilight stood up, feeling her sticky rear clinging to the now melted ice pack below her rear. Then sat down again. Nope, this was not the time to get up and move around.
"T-Twilight is everything okay?"
"Yes I um... leg cramp."
Twilight inhaled deeply and then shouted. "SPIKE!"
The fluffy gentle pony jumped back at the sudden shout. Even when scared she was just too cute. "Hehe, sorry, Fluttershy. I was trying to get help for you."
Fluttershy nodded.
Spike came down the stairs a few seconds later, saw Fluttershy, and saw Twilight, then he sighed. "Magical Creatures?"
"That's the one, Spike. Could you be a mighty, strong, and smokey dragon and help Fluttershy find it?"
Both Fluttershy and Spike gave her a weird look at the word 'smokey'. Spike shrugged and led Fluttershy off to one of the ante chambers. "Smokey, ha. She must be trying to learn new descriptions again. So long as she doesn't call me volcanic this time."
Fluttershy giggled, music to Twilight's ears. "I see, Twilight does like to learn a lot of new words for things. I get lost so easily sometimes."
"You and me both, Fluttershy. You and me both. Oh hey, we got the new volume to Pony Ball Manga in, did you want to read it too?"
"A new one! Oh my, yes! Last time was so sad, but I want to see what happens next."
The two of them vanished and left Twilight feeling pretty good about herself here now. Maybe this was all she needed after all. A quiet library, some good friends, and the ability to help others. Love just got in the way, bah humbug to romance.

Luna was enjoying the show in Ponyville thus far, having watched Twilight struggling with her friends coming in and out of her establishment all day. It was quite fun indeed. Of course, she felt a small bit guilty for not having helped in the way that Twilight had originally desired, but honestly, what did the mare expect? Luna was the princess of the night, of the moon, of nighttime activities and pleasures. Did she truly expect Luna to just stop the wet dream then and there and that would make all of Twilight's bottled-up emotions go away? Nay that was not how this game worked. The rules were not written, but they should be known to all, or at least would be in due time.
Luna allowed herself a small quiet chuckle as she flew away from the library. Having used an invisibility spell to avoid detection. It didn't work the best in broad daylight, but it was good enough for the unsuspecting ponies of this quaint little village. A village that Celestia and her had recently moved too. A new home for her and her sister, one they would be staying in more frequently as their doubles worked the Canterlot shift. After all, where else would she get a truly wonderful vacation from the stuffy castle? The games in her room may be fun, but everything outside of that felt too clean, and too busy for her liking. Matters were best dealt with in small groups, with calm playful and secretive action.
Luna flew across the town to the sight of the manor they'd purchased. It was surrounded by a dense forested woodland, yet raised just above it to offer a picture-perfect view of the town itself from the hill it rested on. It was large, large enough for nine ponies, or well eight ponies and one dragon to live in comfortably along with a small dedicated staff. It had made Luna question if Celestia had indeed gotten up to other plans while Luna was busy learning the ways of the modern pony world.
Once Luna landed on the balcony of the room she shared with her sister she pushed open the doors and saw Celestia there looking relaxed as she lay on the bed reading a book. Luna beamed as she trotted over to visit her. "Sister, sister, we have such joyous news!"
Celestia turned the page in her book, not looking at her but returning the smile. "I'm sure you do. You haven't gone and visited some pony we're supposed to be surprising tonight have you?"
"Um..."
Celestia giggled as she placed the bookmark into her book and closed it. "Sister, I know it's irresistible to spend time with her. I have suffered dearly without her nearby ever since she moved here, but we cannot risk ruining the surprise yet. I... I need to see the look on her face when she finds out we have moved to Ponyville."
Deep regret and guilt filled Luna's heart as she lowered her head. "I... I won't spoil the secret. I promise you. I know how much she means to you, means to us. I had official business with her this morning, that is all."
Celestia reached out and lifted Luna's chin and met her eyes. "Shh, don't feel bad. I trust you, and even if she were to figure it out before our announcement at the party tonight, then I wouldn't be mad at you. I promise, no more anger. No more distrust. Only love between us."
Luna gulped, she could feel herself being drawn ever closer to that radiant solar light. The constant ebbing heat that the goddess of the sun gave off. The smell of spring, flowers, fresh rain, and clean spring air. It took all her own willpower to restrain herself and act as appropriately as she could as she stood and shook herself from head to tail. "Thank you, Celly. This means more to me than you can know."
"It's what you always wanted, a small place for just the two of us, and perhaps a handful of select others? Others we can trust."
"It is."
"Good, then I have done something right for once... right?"
"You have done so many things right by us, by the entire world. Sister, you are perfection incarnate... when your not being a butt that is."
"Ha ha, I could say the same to you. Playing those violent video games until wee hours of the morning. How do you even find others to play with?"
"The gamers are my kin, sister. Late-night grinding sessions, marathons, sleeping on the couch, eating Cheezy Nips, and drinking Mountain Spew, these are my people."
"Your brand of worshipers has changed entirely in the last thousand years."
"But the spirit remains the same."
"I suppose it does."
Looking back toward the window Luna was almost lost in thought for a moment. Thinking about the life they were trying to build here. In secret at first, but eventually word would get out. The castle was not abandoned, they had a teleporter room in the manor that connected to the castle. More than that though, they left doubles of themselves, a spell that mimicked an old ninjutsu spell, but was far more effective, something that Luna loved the name of because she could claim it was 'her' spell. A shadow clone if one willed.
Celestia reached out with a wing tip and brushed it against Luna's side causing a tingling heat to sour through her body. "Sister, why did you visit my precious pupil?"
"Oh? That is a simple matter. She's having sexual dreams and had asked me to stop them. HA, I think not. Then again, I suspect it is a mixture of her truly loving heart, and the fact she's going into heat."
"Heat? It is a little early for that. I know with my magic I have made it so that heat cycles happen multiple times a year instead of the old ways, but still, I had not expected this yet. Poor dear, I know that ever since the incident when she was younger she's struggled with heat."
"Incident? Please tell me more, I need the juicy stories for... princess reasons."
"Perhaps I'll tell you the full story later. But I'll give you a little taste now. It involved Princess Cadance, a succubus spell gone wrong, and a Twilight Sparkle filled with so much magic that even I had to use 1 percent of my full power to stop her."
"Oh my! You can't do that, that's a Pony Ball reference!"
"Tut tut, Luna. I am learning a little bit from you after all, you can wait to hear more until tonight."
"So rude!"
"I tell you what, if I play one of these games with you, will you forgive me?"
Luna's ears perked up and she jumped for joy. "Oh yes! Let me turn on the Maria Kart 64 then! I have found cheats! and wish to test them on you."
"Is that the one with the plumber racing a car?"
"And the turtle shells, and the bombs, and the train level!"
"Fine. But I want to be the green one."
"No fair."
"Big sisters are always the green plumber."
The two shared a laugh and got ready for a truly rambunctious time of video gaming together.
