Gold Just Stands Out...

Truth Over Lies

Previous Chapter

Wow. Your life has changed a lot, from an innocent child to now. You know where it all started; your mother’s death sparked something. You then started to get closer to your friends and helped them, even if it was wrong to do it. Then you become an adult and separate entirely from your family, your dad had always thought less of you ever since mother passed. Then turned 21 and…. You were transported to a new world, and now here you are. Under a tree waiting to tell your feelings to a talking pony.

Shit, things have gone very weird. If someone told me that I would be here I would have called you insane.

Your mind goes back to the world as you wait, you hide the flowers and bag of muffins behind the tree as you see her. Flapping her wings and going towards you stands Derpy herself.

“Tree.”

She moves to the usual spot as her golden eyes shined in your soul. You then start thinking of what to say as it all comes to you.

“Hey. How has your day been?”

“Eh, the usual.” That wasn’t true, but you couldn’t tell what you did today without telling her.

You were about to start speaking….when…

“She will use you!”

You sigh as you turn around away from Derpy as you stand up in anger.

“No! You listen here! I don’t care WHAT you have to say but you can’t stop me from doing this! When will you just let me live my life the way I want to? You think that always talking to me will switch me over but it is already decided! When will you get it through your little head of yours!? I HATE YOU!”

“W-What?” Your mind snaps back as you see something in front of you. A crying gray Pegasus, Shit.

“D-Derpy, I wasn’t talking to you. I-”

“Then who were you talking to!? What? Am I a crutch to you?”

“No. Derpy listen, you are not like the others here I-”

“That’s what they ALL say! They all say that I’m different all because of my eyes! Well, NEWS FLASH! I was born with this and I can’t change it but yet everypony sees it as a disability, and now I know you think it too!”

She was gone, running away, crying. I really am a terrible person. But you couldn’t just stand there when you needed to tell her everything. You grab the flowers and bag and start running. Luckily there was no pony around at this time but that didn’t matter. You needed to get to her, you were getting close when you stopped as you hear something.

“She deserves it! Don’t try and explain-”

ENOUGH! Why? Why can’t you just let me be? I want to be on my own in this new life!

“Then what happens if you do something bad. I could help you not make them.”

Then I will just work it out on my own. I know that I did terrible things in my life. I am willing to accept them and move on, on my own. I know you are just trying to 'help' me in this new world but it would be better to see how i do alone, to see how I can handle things in this world.

With that, cracks appears all around the void, surrounding the other you. With a snap in your mind the other you disappears, he is gone. Now it’s just you in your mind. For once ever since you got in this world you feel whole again. But not now, now is the time for helping her.

Eventually you get to her house, you go in to see everything is all around the room like a bear was in here. You walk into the bedroom to see a broken pony on the bed, sobbing. It’s time to tell her everything. You walk up to her just to see her flinch.

“W-What do you want?” You sit down next to her on the bed.

“Derpy, I got to tell you the truth.” With that she sits up.

“What do you mean?” She says, wiping the tears from her eyes. How do you explain the voice? Well, you say what comes to mind.

“You know when you're about to do something and a voice tells you not to do it?”

She nods her head in confusion.

“Well, I have that voice everywhere I go! No matter how long I wait, it doesn’t go away and it's there even when I’m not making a decision. It’s like someone else is always talking to you and no one can hear it, I am the only one who can hear it. That is why I lashed out there. I wasn’t talking to you, I was talking to the voice, I was just angry at them always telling me to stop.”

Silence, Silence throughout the whole room as you let it sink in.

“Is it still with you?” Derpy said being the caring pony she is.

“No. I just found myself and it went away.” Derpy then looked at you with her tears now gone.

“Why was the voice telling you to stop at the tree earlier?” There it is, she asked the question you were dreading. You decided to avoid answering it by bringing out the bag. She instantly recognized the smell and began digging in the bag.

“You got me muffins? Wait! Blueberry Muffins!” You smiled as you saw the mare take out the muffins and eat them quickly. She looked at you and blushed at the sight of your look, her mouth was full of them as she was basically inhaling them.

“Haha! You really like them don’t you?” You say as you scratched behind her ear again. She quickly emptied her mouth as she swallowed the big lump of muffins.

You then took out the flowers and took one out and placed it between her left ear and her head and it just laid there. She looked very confused, ah, you know now it's time, you have to say it now.

“Derpy, you have been there for me through everything. You were the first one to find me in this new world and without your help I would probably be in a lab being tested on. When I got here of course I wanted to go back home, see my friends. But over time I grew used to this place, while it wasn’t easy, you made it way easier for me to get into this society. I have been keeping a secret from you for a couple days now and I need to say it.”

Derpy just looked at you getting even more confused at that.

“What secret?”

With that you place a little small kiss on her lips and pull away. You expected her to blush and it would be adorable, but instead she placed a kiss on your lips and began hugging you tightly. You wrapped your arms around her and joined the hug. It felt like your chest was about to give up and you would die on the bed.

“Thank you. But why me?” Derpy said in your chest. That got you thinking, why? You didn’t know yourself, but you did have an idea.

“You are different from all the ponies in here. Everytime I meet a pony I don’t feel a great connection with them, you are the only pony I feel a great connection with. You're not only different from other ponies because of your eyes. Your personality and caringness, compared to the other ponies you are like gold.”

“But why gold? There are better gems like diamond or ruby.” There is the sweet Derpy you knew. You pat her on the head again as you chuckled.

“Well, even compared to the other ‘gems’ you are still unique from the others.”

“What do you mean?” She said as both of you looked out the window seeing the moon rise.

“I don’t know. I guess gold just stands out.”
