Story of Villains: King Sombra

Long ago, Princess Amore once ruled over the Crystal Empire alongside her husband and daughter. That was until Sombra arrived and took over the empire. Princess Amore held him off, but in the end, Sombra came out on top.

As she lay on the ground, battered and beaten, she performed one last spell. Not wanting Sombra to harm her family, she sealed her husband and daughter within an unbreakable crystal outside the empire to keep them safe from evil.

Mi Amore Cadenza and her father, still frozen within the unbreakable crystal, were the only Crystal Ponies left. The crystal they were in started to weaken over time due to Sombra’s actions. Eventually, after over 1,000 years, Cadance’s father put small bits of his life force into the crystal to keep them inside once the time was right.

Soon enough, years before the return of the Mare in the Moon, the unbreakable crystal finally broke and the two Crystal Ponies were free.

Now without a home, the father carried his baby across the snowy lands until he found a small village in the woods. However, the father was so weak he couldn’t raise his child for much longer. He had given up too much of his life force to keep them safe. He finds an Earth Pony couple and brings Cadance to them.

He gave his baby to them and they happily took her to their village. The father then left their site, finally succumbing to his weakened state and passing away happily.

And as well know, Cadance grew up to be quite a lovely match-making Pegasus. She stops a love-stealing pony, Prismia, by breaking a magic-enhancing necklace that amplifies her evil and jealousy, which also amplifies Cadance’s love. She befriends her and she was gifted to become an Alicorn.

She moves into Canterlot and is appointed to be Twilight Sparkle’s foal sitter. She also builds a relationship with Shinning Armor and you know the rest with defeating the Changelings, Sombra, and becoming the Princess of the Crystal Empire, like she was meant to be.
