Author's Note

This is my first attempt at trying to write Chrysalis so its probaly going to be very cringy, sorry about that but I hope that it's not cringe enough to the point that you can enjoy it still and like always remember to bash me so I can get better ok bye now.

Decisions

As the door closed behind us Thorax and I turned to face the doors pausing for a second before continuing on. As we walked down the hallway there were portraits that had Chrysalis in each and every one of them. 'Nothing screams full of yourself like having a whole hallway dedicated to portraits of you.'

As we reach the doors Thorax pauses before turning to me. "I know I've said this before but I really want to thank you for everything you've done for me I don't think I would have gotten this far without you and I'm also really glad that you also wanted to be my friend and I just wanted to say that no matter what happens after this I hope we'll be there for eachother."

I smile giving him a hug as I reassure him "You dont have to thank me Thorax, but, I promise, I will always be there for you if you ever need me."

Thorax tightened his grip "Thank you, and, I promise, you can also count on me I, I don't want to be stuck on the sidelines being useless everytime you have to face something that would've been easier with someling to support you, so I swear if there is anything I can do to help I would like too."

We stood their for a while letting our declarations for eachother sink In as we kept hugging. It was, comforting, to be able to be just stay here together in our own little bubble where you could just forget about everything around you and just relax with someone you care about.

Sadly we couldn't stay like that forever and it seemed like Thorax realized that as he pulled away from the hug "Well... don't want to keep the Queen waiting."

"Yeah...let's go." I said

As we open the door we saw Chrysalis on her throne this time with a silk dress on as she watched every step we made closer towards her.

As we reached near her throne me and Thorax both bowed before her "Rise." She says as we both rise looking straight at her.

Chrysalis looked at us with a cold, calculating gaze as she addressed us "Drones 42 and 68."

Thorax looked like he was going to curl in on himself as he shakingly tried to correct her "A-a-actually m-my Queen m-my name is thor-."

Chrysalis barely turned her head towards Thorax and he was shivering even more now. She narrowed her eyes a bit at him "Did i ask what you decided to call yourself youngling?"

"Well n-"

"Then you would do better to stand there in absolute silence until I, myself tell you have the privilege to speak, Am. I
Clear?"

Thorax stuttered a bit before standing straight "Y-yes my Queen."

Chrysalis turned her head back to face both of us "Good, now before you decided to waste my time let us focus on the reason if why you are here." She says as she flies down from her throne and lands, towering over us.

"I have called you here because out of all of the Changelings that participated in that test you two were the ones that came up on top and took victory from their grasp and in doing so you have the privilege of choosing a role here in the hive."

She suddenly turned in my direction "I will admit you piqued my interest a bit with the way you showed no mercy even to a fellow changeling, although dont let it get to your head like I said my interest was only piqued a bit you'll have to prove to me if I should keep that interest or not."

"Now you will have four roles to choose from you can either be a Learner, a
a Surveyor, a Sentinel, or a Provider."

As a Learner your role will be to leave the hive with a trusted escort to observe the different inventions and creations that other creatures use and to bring back any information that would and only would be beneficial to the hive, failure to do complete this task and I will personally banish you myself without an escort until you prove your worth to me again by bringing back something actually useful to the hive."

"Next is the Surveyor, now this task is so simple that even mere workers can do it, all it consist of is when a Learner is about to leave the hive their objective is to scout out and mark any communities, love sources, and dangerous creatures a Learner might deal with on their way to their destination, and in certain situations be trained and tasked with specifically for infiltrating any heavily guarded areas."

"As a Sentinel your role in the hive will be to be ready to fight and die for it and at times me assigned to Learners as their escorts, here you will prove to me that you are capable of defending this hive by not only going through training by one of my most trusted Sentinels but also by crafting a weapon to prove that you can and will fight for in what you believe in, although you should only be fighting for your Queen and your Queen only."

"As a Provider your role in the hive will to be to traverse to the outside world and be trained in the most efficient ways to collect love for the hive to keep it from falling into a Lunger state from the creatures that are outside the hive by Any. Means. Necessary."

'There goes that Lunger term again' letting my curiosity get the better of me I raised my hand making Chrysalis stop her explanations and making her eyes narrow in my direction "What do you need 68?"

I stuttered as I tried to calm myself down "w-well I was just wondering what um Lunger means My Queen. its just, i keep hearing it but I don't understand what it means." As I finished asking she looked over to me with a such a sweet smile it made me shiver at the unnatural look on her as she started to approach me talking in a sweet tone.

"Oh you poor thing why I give you a personal demonstration."

*Ack* Next thing I know I'm being choked and lifted off the ground as Chrysalis opens her mouth and it feels like my soul is being extracted from my body. When she finally stops she drops me on the floor as I'm shaking and shivering like I'm freezing and burning at the same time while it feels likes I haven't eaten in years.

As I'm barely to look up I see Chrysalis with a cruel looking grin on her as she just watches me squirm on the ground. "This, my little changeling is what is called Lunger, when you run out of love or, in this case, when all your love has been extracted from you, you start to fall in a kind of catatonic state where your whole body feels like its failing you while also begging for any kind of release, oh of course you can still hear me, you aren't in the stage where you can't but believe me it can get much worse than this, I assure you."

I turn to barely look at Thorax as he looks on in horror at my state before he looks over at Chrysalis "M-My Queen please I-I think he understands."

She glances over to him before looking down at me "I suppose, very well get a love container from the feeding chamber."

"Y-Yes My Queen" As Thorax takes one last glance at me he starts to run out the room leaving me and Chrysalis here.

Even though it was probaly a couple of minutes it felt like hours too me as I saw Thorax come back into the room with the container in hand as he rushes over to and holds the container in front of me.

"Here Joseph, I managed get a fresh one for you"

Every year i went to the feeding chamber it felt like a flicker, but now, it was like a I was looking directly into a lightbulb. I snatched the container from him as I drained all of the love I could from it tasting like the holy grail as the shivers and emptiness stopped. Draining the container for all its worth I took a moment to breath after that horrible experience I just went through.

Thorax was just standing there giving me a minute to readjust "Are you okay now Joseph?"

I give him a shaky thumbs up "ff-antastic, thanks for that."

Thorax gave me a shaky smile "n-no problem."

As we I was thankfully giving a few minutes to recover Chrysalis was surprisingly just waiting for us "finished?"

"Yes My Queen"
"Yes My Queen"

"Good, now before I was interrupted let us get back to why I called you here after all, I have given your options so pick."

Unsprisingly Thorax went first "I would like to be a Learner My Queen."

Chrysalis nodded "Very well, I hope your ready for the outside world my little changeling because believe me, it will most definitely be ready for you."

Thorax gulped in response.

Chrysalis then turned towards me "And what about you what will you choose?"

'If I'm being honest after hearing all the roles in the hive I could choose to pick an easy role and live my life in peace.

But, I made a promise to protect Thorax whenever he needed me, so, if I im gonna uphold my promise there is only one role I can choose.'

Set on my decision I stood up straight and looked Chrysalis straight in her eyes as I gave her my answer.

"I want to be Sentinel." I say as I look her straight In her eyes ready for whatever came my way afterwards
