Author's Note

Hey y’all! Cougar here! It’s been a minute since chapter 1. I’m finally working on chapter 3. I did actually intend for this chapter to be a bit longer, but I thought against it later on as I really don’t want to lore dumb on you guys on everything about this story lol.

Anyway this does have themes of depression and a tiny mentions of blood and death towards the end. Just a bit of warning.

Anyway this chapter to gonna focus on the Apple family and Applejack’s ‘Transformation Blues’

Now for the werewolf forms for those you love 80s cartoons. The ‘Half’ werewolf form is based around the 1986’s teen wolf cartoon series. The whole series is on YouTube for free if you are interested.

The ‘Full’ Werewolf form is based on most modern depictions of werewolves. Such as digitigrade wolves with short tails (Think of a furries lol) . Some human qualities will stay such as hair/fur color, freckles, moles or such.

Anyway, this is all I have to say as to now. Hope you guys enjoy! See you next time!

Transformation Blues

Chapter 2:Transformation Blues

28th of August, Monday 3:36 p.m

After the Apple sisters said their goodbyes, They started following their brother, Big Macintosh, to the hiking trail that led back to their home, Sweet Apple Acres. Applebloom jogged up ahead to catch up to her brother while her sister, Applejack silently followed along as she kept her eyes on the ground as she listened to her little sister’s telling of her day to their brother who only says very little.”Oh you should have seen her Big Mac! Diamond Tiara was so angry at Sweetie Belle for defending Scoots and Ah. Ah never seen Diamond so mad!” Applebloom chuckled.

“Hehe Eeyep.” Big Mac gently smiled as he kept walking.

“Hey, we should invite Sweetie and Rarity over to the farm one day. Right Applejack?” Mac only responded by nodding. After a moment of only birds chirping. When Applebloom didn’t get a response back,”Applejack?” Both Applebloom and Big Mac stop and turn to see Applejack walking with a depressive look on her face who wasn’t paying much attention to her surroundings, and passed her siblings. Big Mac grabbed her shoulder, and Applejack woke from her stupor.

“Hm? Oh sorry y’all Ah’m just thinking. What did you say, Bloom?” Applejack asked as she rubbed the back of her neck.

“Well..Ah did ask if maybe we can invite Rarity and Sweetie Belle to farm sometime. Are you alright sis? You seem down.” Applebloom said with a frown.

“What- Oh Just hunkydory! And of course we can invite Rarity and Sweetie sometime, but really Ah’m fine.” The older sister lied as her nose scrunched up, looking side to side, and the fakest smile that anyone could see.

Applebloom and Big Mac looked at each other, and then both chuckled “Applejack, you’re by far the worst liar Ah ever heard. Right, Big Mac?” The younger sister asked.

“Eeyep. You can’t lie for the life of ya.” Big Mac said in his deep voice.

Applejack sighed and nodded “Yeah..you’re right.” She gave back a frown.” It’s just about tonight..” she said somberly. She looked back where they came from to make sure no one overheard their conversation. Of course both siblings understood what she meant.

Applebloom went up and hugged her big sister. “Well Ah believe in you.” Wrapping her arms around Applejack’s sides.” You can do it.”

“Eeyep.” Smiled downward to both of his sisters. He wrapped an arm around Applejack by her shoulders.

Applejack took glances at both of her siblings and sighed. Her spirits were lifted a bit.”Thanks y’all.” She smiled as she wrapped her arms around Applebloom.” Come on before Granny loses her hair wondering where we’re at.” Dragging her sister playfully.

Big Mac nodded as he kept his arm around Applejack as they walked. Applebloom giggled as she made her legs go limp as her older sister dragged her along.

Around 15 mins on the hiking trail, the siblings finally reached the peak of the tall hill that showed the beautiful view that showed all of Sweet Apple Acres.”Ah think Ah see Granny.” Applebloom said as she stood up and let go of her sister.

Applejack squinted and then smiled. Sure enough, there on the farm house porch was Granny Smith doing light sweeping with an old broom.” Yep and we better get down there. Ah’m sure you got homework lil’ sis” Eying Applebloom.

The youngest Apple scoffed “Hey don’t you two have homework?” She asked looking up at her older siblings.

“Yes, but we gotta get our chores done before dusk. You should know about that by now.” Applejack crossed her arms as Big Mac passed them and headed down the trail. Not getting involved.

Matching her sister. “It’s not fair… You guys get to stay up late and do homework later. All because Ah’m 12.” Applebloom turned around and pouted.

Applejack frowned then slightly chuckled.”Well if Ah don’t.. well y’know… at least you won’t be alone in doing homework and going to bed at the right time.”

Opening back her eyes into a look of shock and turned back around.“What?! No way! You will transform! Ah just know it! Come on, you got chores to do!” Completely forgetting her own little episode, and went around and started pushing her sister to the farm house.

“Woah Nelly! Easy Bloom. Ah’m going, Ah’m going! What happened to not being able to do homework later!?” Applejack asked as she was being pushed.

“Quiet you! You got chores to do!” Applebloom called out continuously, pushing her sister to walk down the hill.

Eventually, the two sisters made it up to Granny. The old woman looked from her task, and smiled “There you two are! Mac is already on the tractor. You can take the side by side and meet him at the west fields, Applejack.”

“On it Granny. Gonna change my clothes first.” She hurriedly went past her grandmother to go inside and change into her work duds.

She nodded, then turned to Applebloom.”Alright lil’ yougin’ Ah’m sure you got homework to do.” Granny sweeps some of the dirt off the porch.” Ah’m gonna get started on supper. Yer favorite, Ribeye!” She chuckles

“Ooo Ah love full moon suppers! Ah’ll get my homework done!” Applebloom sped past Granny, and followed her sister inside to go to her own bedroom to get started on her homework for the afternoon.

Once in her bedroom, Applejack locked the door behind her, putting down her book bag on her bed, and immediately dug into her closet for her denim bibs, and a good old plain white t-shirt. After changing, she exited out of her room. She immediately smelled beef coming from the kitchen. The Apple family usually has these ‘Full moon suppers’ as they call them. Every full moon they eat some sort of meat like beef, chicken, venison, pork, or turkey for dinner. Most everyone of the Apple clan enjoyed these days, but to Applejack those were the only thing that she enjoyed on full moons.

She went down the stairs and exited the screen door, and headed to the garage where the side by side was. Taking the key from the wall mounted key holder. She got into the vehicle to begin her chores for the few hours left of daylight.

____________________________________________________________________________

“Man, Ah’m tellin’ ya, Big Mac. We sure got a lot of apples today.” Put the last basket of apples that could fit into the trunk of the UTV. Whipping her brow of sweat and dirt.

“Eeyep.” holding up a high five. Which was reciprocated with a cloud of dirt of the two gloves clapping together. He looked up at the sky, seeing it was close to dusk. “You better get these back to the barn, and wash up. Supper will be soon. Ah’ll get the rest.” Turning to the rest of the few full baskets that were on the ground,

“You sure Big Mac?” Applejack asked

“Eeyep.” he simply said,

“Alright then see you at supper.” She pulled off her gloves, and put them in the passenger seat. Putting the vehicle into drive.

Big Mac waved as she drove back to the barn. Where the apples can be sorted and washed out later. Applejack sighed as she exited the vehicle. As it was getting closer to dusk. She could see the moon coming into view as it got closer to being night. Whenever she was old enough to stay up with Granny Smith and Big Mac for their monthly transformations she used to be so excited, but the next 3 years of disappointing nights had passed. Honestly nothing was changing her mind about tonight being her last hiding.

Applejack gently closed the barn door, and headed into the house. Getting a whiff of steak, her mouth watered. “Hey Granny, Ah’m back! Ah’m gonna wash up!” she called from the front door.

“Welcome back sugarcube! Steaks are almost done! After you're finished, go check yer sister please!” Granny called back from the kitchen.

“Sure Granny!” Applejack called as she was climbing up the stairs. Once she reached the upstairs bathroom , and took a quick shower to wash the dirt and grime of the day. As she dries herself off with a towel, and gets dressed in a simple shirt and shorts for tonight. Exiting the bathroom, she went over to the room at the end of the hall where Applebloom resides.” Applebloom?” She knocks on the door with a wooden decorative white and pink apple blossom.

“Come in.” A muffled young voice can be heard.

Applejack opened the door and then scoffed “Applebloom look at this mess!” Looking around in disbelief. Dirty laundry, toys, and papers were scattered about the room.

“What? It’s not that bad..” Applebloom shrugged as she put her finished homework inside her bag.

“Not that bad?!” Applejack repeated, tipping her hat back. “Ugh Applebloom…” she shook her head as she deeply sighed. “Well Ah came here to check on ya. Did you get your homework done at least?” Applejack asked, crossing her arms, leaning against the door frame.

“Yep! Just finished.” Applebloom smiled, hopping off her bed.

“So when Granny checks later, you’ll have it all done?” Applejack smirked

“Of course! Ah promise.” Applebloom said in confidence

“Good. Now clean all this up. Supper will be ready soon. Ah gotta do some math homework.” Applejack motion to the messy room.

“Ugh no fair! Ah was hoping to text Sweetie and Scoots.” Applebloom complained.” Can Ah clean during the weekend?” She asked pleadingly

“No can do, sugarcube. Otherwise the BO would get so bad, you’ll have to sleep in the guest room instead. Ah’m already losing’ my sense of smell just by standing’ here. Besides, if you ever want to invite Rarity and Sweetie Belle then you better have this room clean.” Applejack laughed. “You can text your friends after supper and dishes are done.”

“Ughh fine..” the youngest grumbled as she picked up a dirty shirt.

Applejack simply smiled and closed the door, and went to her own room. Pulling her bookbag off her bed to her desk to work on her homework. There was only silence about the room. She liked some noise to accompany her otherwise she’d probably go mad. Outside at least there were sounds of nature Applejack could have relied on. So she pulled out her phone out of her bookbag. Just about to put on some country and old pop songs. Applejack unlocked her phone to where it was still at messages. Where Rarity texted her phone number. The farm girl started thinking about the fashionista that came from Manehatten. Sure she was kind of dramatic, cared little too much about her appearance, but Applejack and the others weren’t treated like they were lesser than her like Applejack thought they would be. Rarity was kind, polite, and heck, very generous. Applejack is still shocked that Rarity would offer her to make an outfit just for buying her lunch. Then Applejack started thinking how beautiful she is. Her violet curls, her ivory white skin, her face, voice, but most of all her beautiful cobalt blue eyes that Applejack could definitely get lost in- ‘Huh?! What? No. Rarity is just a friend and you’re not attracted to women or anyone for that matter … Ah think… Whatever. Ah gotta get my homework done.’

Applejack frowned at herself. She curbed her romantic emotions, and turned on some music to focus back on her math homework, but before she could even get started. “COME AND GET IT! SOUPS ON Y’ALL!” Applejack’s grandmother called out. She sighed in both relief and frustration as she wanted to get her homework done before supper, but what can she do? Turning off her music that was playing, and then rushed out the room. Applebloom was right at her door with a smile on her face.

“Time for ribeye sis! Woohoo!” Applebloom exclaimed.

“Hehe yep. Time for some steak!” Applejack smiled as she watched her little sister go down the hall, and down the stairs with excitement. The older sister chuckled and followed her sister to the kitchen.

Seeing her two granddaughters “There you are. You two ready to dig in?” Granny Smith said as she laid the last plate for herself, and then sat at the foot of the table as she always did.

Applejack sat down at her seat “Yep, looks mighty good, Granny.” Eying the steak and mash potatoes that was in front of her. She always loved Granny’s cooking. Always homemade, and cooked with TLC.

“Ah can’t wait!” Applebloom said, sitting down next to her sister. “Hey, where’s our brother?” she asked, putting her napkin on her lap.

“He’s washing’ up.” Granny turned in her head towards the bathroom door. “Ya better hurry up in there, Big Mac! Yer food is getting’ cold!” She called out to her grandson. With the sounds of a toilet going off and washing of hands, a young man steps out.

“Eeyep.” Mac who turned off the bathroom lights, and closed the door behind him. Went to sit across from Applejack.

“Alright now we’re all here. Let’s pray. Applebloom would ya like to the honors?” Granny gently smiled and winked at the young girl.

“Yes ma’am.” Applebloom waited for everyone to bow their heads, and close their eyes.

Applejack took off her hat, and held it to her chest. Then she closed her eyes like her brother and grandmother.

Applebloom saw everyone was ready “Dear Faust, Thank you so much for the wonderful food you blessed us with and thank you for having the opportunity for all of us to come together as a family. Oh and thank ya for blessing us with some new friends, Rarity and Sweetie Belle. Amen.”

“Amen.” The rest of the family said “Let’s dig in!” Granny Smith said happily. Taking her fork, and starting cutting into her steak. looking over at her eldest granddaughter who was putting her hat back on. “So Applejack, how was your day? Ah know you made friends with that Rarity gal today. What's she like?”

Applejack smiled as she thought of her interactions with the fashionista “Well she‘s nice and polite Ah guess.” She chuckled “Stubborn as a mule. Hehe For buying her lunch, Ah guess she’s making a dress for me, as she makes dresses for her business at least that's what she said.” Cutting into her steak, and taking a bite.

“Well that‘s real nice of her. So she’s one of those clothes maker whatcha-ma call-its.”

“Fashion designer, Granny.” Applejack gently chuckles.

“Oh phooey! Same thing!” Granny replied back. The only response was an eye roll from the cowgirl. “Don’t you roll your eyes at me lil’ lady!” She mock glare, and then tilts Stetson down on Applejack’s face. Both of them laugh. Then turned to her youngest as Applejack tilted her hat back up. “So what about you Applebloom. What’s this Sweetie Belle like?” Granny asked.

“She’s actually cool! She may not be cool in the way Scootaloo is, but she’s awesome. Sweetie actually stood up to Diamond Tiara unfortunately Ah guess that made Sweetie a target of her bullying..”

Applejack made a quiet sigh. She knew that Diamond Tiara and her sister always had a rivalry even when they were young kids. Granny Smith sometimes had to go to Filthy- Mr.Rich and Spoiled about their daughter's behavior, but it usually fell on deaf ears as Mrs.Rich didn't care much for the Apple family despite being business partners. Mr.Rich didn’t like how his daughter behaved, but usually just went along whatever his wife wanted to keep the peace in his household. Applejack wasn’t sure how their marriage survived for so long if she was being honest.

“Applebloom, Ah’m sorry Diamond bothered you and your friends again. Just try to ignore her. She ain’t worth it.” Granny said, taking a sip of her water.

“Yes Granny.” Applebloom cleared her throat.” Anyway, Sweetie Belle came with a wonderful idea. We decided to make ourselves into a group. We call ourselves ‘The Canterlot Movie Makers’ or ‘CMC’ for short. The name was my idea.” Taking a bite of her mash potatoes.

Applejack smiled at the idea even though the name was kind of odd. Granny beat her to the punch.”So you’re makin’ movies?” The matriarch asked.

“Uhh Ah’m… Ah’m not sure. Ah couldn’t find anything that would match CMC…Maybe that would be our career path someday” The youngest said, her eyes filled with hopes and dreams.

Deciding to tease her little sister a bit “Yeah as a movie monster werewolf.” Applejack chuckled as she nudged her sister with her elbow.

“Hey! Y’know Ah could be an actress and Ah don’t need to be a werewolf to do that!” Applebloom glared at Applejack. Pushing her back. Starting a mini wrestling match between the two.

“Alright, alright. Let’s settle down. Don’t tease your sister, Applejack.” Granny Smith lectured.

“Yes Granny.” Applejack sighed as she took another bite from her plate. In the corner of her eye she can see her little sister sticking her tongue out at her.

“Ah saw that..” Granny eyed Applebloom. Immediately the young girl went back to her dinner. Satisfied, she turned to her grandson.” What about you Big Mac? Did you see Sugar Belle today?

“Eeyep.”

“Still treating’ her like a princess?”

“Hehe Eeyep.” He beamed

“The Fall formal is a month away. You gonna ask her?”

“ Er- Eeyep.” Big Mac nodded with a slight tint of blush.

“Good!” Granny Smith beamed as she turned to her left. “Applejack, Applebloom. Got anyone in mind for the dance.”

Applebloom scratched the back of her head nervously.” Well…there’s one boy Ah like ‘Tender Taps’, but Ah dunno if he likes me back.” She looked at Granny with sad eyes. Even her bow looked droopy.

Applejack looked over at her sister “Oh come on, sugarcube! You’re a sweet young gal!” She said as she rubbed her sister’s head. Messing her hair up a bit.”Ah’m sure he likes ya back. Don’t you two spend time at school?”

“Ah mean yeah we do. Ah do consider us friends. Heck Ah helped him with his stage fright last year for that musical.” Applebloom said, running her hand through hair fixing it back up.

“Then Ah don’t see what’s the issue youngin’. Ah’m sure Tender will ask ya to the dance.” Granny Smith smiled at the youngest, and then turned her attention to her other granddaughter. “What about you Applejack? Any young buck caught your eye?”

Applejack's eyes went wide a bit. Looking side to side. “Um no. No one caught my eye Granny…” taking a drink of her water. Her mind went to a few students at Canterlot High, but her mind landed on Rarity. ‘Well…She is beautiful, but she is just a friend…’

“Oh pfff! There got to be one good lookin’ kid that caught your fancy.”

“Sorry Granny, but there isn’t anyone.” ‘It wasn’t really a lie..was it?’ Applejack thought to herself as she ate her steak.

Granny Smith didn't press her any further so decided to move on. She remembered something important.”Ah need to check the calendar to make sure two can go to the dance.” Eying her two eldest. She got out of her chair, and went to the calendar that was on the pantry door.

Rolling her eyes and sighed.”Granny. This is my last full moon hiding, remember?” Applejack asked.

Granny took her eyes off of the calendar, and to her. “Applejack.. Ah still say you should give it more time honey. You could transform tonight after all.”

“Yeah Applejack! Ah seriously think tonight is the night!” Applebloom said excitedly.

“Eeyep. Ah think so too.” Big Mac said with a small smile.

Applejack looked at each of her family members with smiles on their faces. She sighed once again and said, “Okay.. Ah somewhat think so too.” She rested her elbow on the table holding her head up. Having a small smile on her face.

Granny went over and patted Applejack’s shoulder.”That’s the spirit!” She smiled,”Let’s see if you two can go..” Going back to the calendar lifted to the 2 pages to October. For what she saw, she gave a frown seeing it was a full moon on that night of the fall formal. “Applejack, Big Mac. Ah’m sorry, but you do have a full moon on that night.”

Big Mac gave a frown, but didn’t say anything. Applejack knew he was upset. Being a werewolf always had its pros and cons, but then she remembered the countermeasures that could be taken to prohibit transformation. “But Granny.. Can Mac wear the silver bracelet?” She asked while raising her fist and pointed to her wrist with her other hand. Big Mac looked at Granny. He didn’t show much emotion, but Applejack could see there was hope in his eyes.

Granny thought for a bit. “Well he can..” Big Mac smiled “But remember. It isn’t healthy to keep your wolf inside all the time. You’ll know what will happen.” Big Mac, Applejack, and Applebloom frowned.

They had heard stories of past members of the Apple Clan losing themselves if they had their wolf bottled up every full moon coming around with the useful but dangerous silver bracelet. The bracelet only has so much power. If the wearer doesn’t transform at all for at least 3 months or more. They would lose themselves to their animal side completely, and they wouldn’t know of their actions. That’s where humans get the horror stories of werewolves from. “But one night wouldn’t hurt.” Granny gave back a smile to her grandchildren.

Big Mac smiled. He was back to looking forward to asking Sugar Belle to the dance. Granny went to her seat and sat back down.”Reminds me of when your grandfather took me to the Fall formal.” She placed her napkin back onto her lap.

Applejack looked over to a picture on the wall of her late grandfather, Papaw Applejack and Granny Smith looking at each other in their best Sunday clothes. Whom she was named after. The yellowish man in the photo was a balding older man with a dark red grayish mustache. Who was wearing the same hat that was on her head. Both him and her father looked so similar to each other. According to Granny. He was a very sweet and caring man. He was so looking forward to grandkids as her mother was pregnant with Big Mac at that time. It’s sad that none of the Apple siblings got to meet him as he died a little bit after her parent’s wedding in a tractor accident.

“Wait, Ah thought you weren’t able to go with Papaw.” Applebloom gave a confused look.

“Oh yeah Ah didn’t, but Ah never told ya why Ah didn’t go. Now did Ah?” The older woman smirked.

“Huh. Ah don’t think you ever did Granny.” Applejack commented.”Why didn’t you go?” The farm girl asked

“That’s because your papaw discovered a little something about me that night” With her orange eyes glowed, An aura of the same color surrounded her, and shifted to her half-wolf form. Her ears, teeth, and nails sharpen. Fur grew on her arms and legs. Her voice sounded a little raspier than before.”Let’s just say your great granny wasn’t paying attention to the moon cycle.” she chuckled once she finished.

“You changed in front of Papaw!?” Applebloom exclaimed.

“Yep and it wasn’t in this way either.” Granny gestures to herself. “Don’t want to rip my clothes tho right now.”

“How did he take it?” Applejack asked curiously.

“Well he fainted faster than a bullwhip crack Ah tell ya’s. Never seen a man faint like that hard before.” She laughed then her expression changed into a frown. “When he came around. Ah explained everything to him..”

“You explai-, but Granny ain’t that against the rules?” Applejack asked.

Big Mac leaned in to hear her answer curiously.

“Yes and once Ah finished. He went away and ignored me for quite a bit. My hide got tanned by my ma and pa.” Granny Smith gave back a smile. “Luckily he came back, and we made amends. We dated for a bit then we got married after graduating high school.”

“That quick?” Applebloom asked “Ah thought you said we should wait for dating til we’re in our 30s” all of the siblings laugh.

“Well! Back in my day, everybody was getting’ married!” Narrowing her eyes to her grandchildren “And you’re right none of ya should be datin’ right now. Do it when Ah’m dead and buried.” That made the siblings laugh harder.

After a few moments of laughter, Applejack wiped a tear out of the corner of her eye, and calmed herself down. “Wait, Ah do have a question Granny. When should you tell your partner about being a werewolf anyway?”

Granny shifted back to her human form. Her voice returned to normal. She put her hand under her chin”Well most of the family agrees that you tell it after marriage..”

“Huh? But isn’t that like lying? Ah thought we Apples strive to be honest with folks.” Applejack said.

“Ah agree with ya whole heartedly Applejack but it’s a family secret, and it should only be in the family. Ah got pretty lucky, but some members had to move because some folks threatened their lives just because of what we are. You 3 have to be very careful of who you choose to spend the rest of your life with.” Granny explained gently.

“Yes Granny.” The Apple sisters said in unison.

“Eeyep.” The Apple brother said.

“Good.” Granny smiled gently. She looked up at the clock. The handles were pointing at 8:24. Then she looked at everyone’s empty plates. “Alright youngins. We have about an hour left before we gotta head to the cellar. Applebloom, is your homework done?”

“Yep!” Applebloom smiled

“Ah’ll check it in the morning. You’re on dish duty tonight.”

The youngest nodded, and went around the table gathering all the dishes to be washed.

“Applejack, Big Mac, Ah’m sure you got homework to do. Make sure you get that done.”

“Yes Granny.” Both the eldest Apple siblings said getting up from their seats…

____________________________________________________________________________

Applejack sighed heavily, laying back in her desk chair. She finally got the algebra assignment finished. She really disliked math. At least basic math would actually help in life, especially work on an apple farm. ‘If you really want to be a math genius, and find out the stupidest ways to solve a math problem then go to college. Ah still say letter’s don’t belong in math. How about instead we learn how to do our taxes?,’ she complained in her mind.

She looked over her shoulder at her rooster alarm clock. ‘9:48’ it read. Any minute now, she would hear her grandmother call her downstairs to hide in the cellar again, just to be disappointed.

She honestly had no doubt she wouldn’t transform. Applejack knows that her family means well when they try to give her encouragement, but it doesn't make it any less disappointing when another full moon passes by while her brother, grandmother, and the rest of the Apple family transform while she is stuck being human. She knows it’s no one’s fault, but she can’t help herself to be envious. It makes her feel like a disappointment to the Apple clan.

Obviously to any normal person being a werewolf would sound mostly a curse and should be grateful to be human, but to Applejack and the rest of the Apple family, it’s a rite of passage. A pup growing into a wolf so to speak.

She sighed, deciding to put her homework back in her bag for tomorrow before she forgets. Her grades were average as she wasn’t as brilliant as Twilight or Sunset, but she can hold her own just enough to get by. Then she remembered the talk she had with Rainbow earlier today. ‘Heh Ah still say Rainbow needs to ask Twi-‘

“APPLEJACK! BIG MAC! It’s time!” Granny called out.

The farm girl looked out her window. Where the full moon is almost high enough. Turning around, she looked at her father’s hat that was hanging on a coat peg next to her door on the wall. “Maybe tonight?” She asked herself.

“Applejack!” Granny again called out.

“Coming!” She quickly exited her room, and went down the stairs. Where she sees Granny and Big Mac who both had changed into disposable clothes such as simple shirts and shorts. While they were talking to Applebloom who was now in her apple printed yellow pajamas. Who had a bit of a pout in her face.

“Alright youngins it's time to say goodnight to Applebloom.”
Granny said once Applejack reached the bottom of the staircase.

“It’s not fair! Ah wanna stay up with you guys!” Applebloom wined

“If the weekend then Ah wouldn’t have an issue, but on a school night? You must be out of yer mind!” Granny chuckled.

“But Ah wanna see Applejack transform!” Applebloom explained.

Applejack gave a nervous smile “Heh you say that very full moon Applebloom.”

“But Sis!-“

“No buts missy! Mind Granny now. We got school in the morning.” Applejack took her sister by the shoulder and led her to the stairs.

Applebloom frowned sadly, but then a devilish smile went upon her face as she knew one of Applejack’s weaknesses. So she gave her the best puppy dog eyes look. Her bow went all droopy to sell it home. She knew her big sister could never resist that adorable face.

‘Ugh not that face…’ Applejack looked for back up from her grandmother and brother. Granny had an amusement grin on her face. While her brother was just whistling, looking elsewhere. She sighed deeply. “Look AB..”Applebloom perked up “Ah’ll tell you what? If Ah transform, Ah’ll visit your room for a moment. Whadda ya say?”

“Hmm Okay… You promise?”

“Ah promise.”

“Pinkie Promise?”

“Pinkie Promise.”

“Do the whole promise. Pinkie Pie knows if you don’t do it” Applebloom said.

Applejack rolled her eyes and obliged. “Cross my heart, Hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye.” Did all the motions related.

Applebloom smiles in satisfaction. “Goodnight y'all! Love you!” she waved, and stepped on the steps of the stairs.

“Love you too Goodnight Applebloom!” The rest of the family called out. The youngest took one last look and went up the stairs.

“Y’know once she turns. Then you really wouldn’t be able to resist.” She chuckled at Applejack who only rolled her eyes. Then Granny took hold of her other grandchildren by their shoulders. “Come on time to get to the cellar.” Opening the door that leads to the basement.

Applejack pulled out her red hair tie from her hair. Putting it on the small table that was next to Granny’s recliner. Her brother gestures towards the door with a wink and small grin. Applejack gave a small smile back as she went past him, her smile melted into a frown as she went down the stairs. Looking up to find her grandmother watching her. Glaring at her as she came down “Ah know those eyes..”

Reaching the bottom. There were two doors in the small room, one was a regular wooden door that led to another bathroom. The other was a metal door that slides instead of open. “What eyes? These are the same eyes Ah was born with. Same eyes as my pa’s.” Applejack crossed her arms. Big Mac right behind her.

“Yes you got dem green ol’ eyes, but Ah see doubt in ‘em.” Granny turned and slid open the heavy duty door.

With a flash of green and an angry glare “OF COURSE AH-“ She stopped herself. Her Granny turned to her with an emotionless expression. Applejack knew better than to give in to her anger when talking to her grandmother. She took a deep breath “Sorry Granny…Yes Ah have.. my doubts about tonight.”

Granny smiled.”No harm done sweetie, but Ah understand. Ah may not be a late bloomer like ya, but Ah knows what it’s like to be frustrated with the transformation blues.” She motioned her head towards the cellar.

Applejack didn’t say anything and entered the cellar or ‘The Den’ They called it. Flipping on the light switch that was next to the door. The room was semi illuminated in a warm yellowish color. Bright enough to see, but dark enough to feel cozy.

The floor was covered in a sheet of dirt where old tracks can be seen. In a little corner of the large room, was an grandfather clock and old sofa chair that had been through a lot over the years with the scratches on it, but was still sturdy enough to be sat on. Next to it was a bookcase with a few secret photo albums that never left the safety of the cellar. Another corner was an old wooden bunk bed that Big Mac and Applejack shared when they were little kids. At the back wall had a few large logs and a layer of dirt, leaves, sticks, or rocks. The Den was the perfect hiding place for a werewolf to be on the night of the full moon.

Applejack went over to the bunk bed and sat down on the bottom bunk. Granny entered and sat in the old chair. Big Mac who was last to come in. Turned and slid the door shut behind him, and then sat down on a log.

Looking over at the grandfather clock it was only a few minutes till 10.”Applejack?” Big Mac said, looking over at his sister.

Startled a bit. Looking back at her brother.”Yes Big Mac?”

“Ah still believe you can do it, but If not, you will always be my sister no matter what you may or may not turn into.” The almost silent brother said.

“…Thanks.. Mac” Applejack said

Both siblings exchanged smiles with each other. Granny Smith smiled at her two grandkids. “Oh!” Startling her, The grandfather clock started charming with those 10 bells.

1 bell rang

2 bells rang

Green and orange eyes started to glow. A green aura surrounded Big Mac while Granny Smith was surrounded by an orange aura.. Clothes ripping, bones cracking and lengthening, fur growing, tails appearing. Ears, teeth, and claws sharpening. Once the auras disappeared, instead of a young man and an older woman there in their place were two bipedal wolves.

The green werewolf stretched her arms and shoulders place with a few pops, and sighed in her relief “Oh that feels so much better. Ah tells ya nothing better than a good o’ transformation for your back.”

The red one nodded in agreement “Eeyep.” Big Mac doing the same with his limbs. He looked at his sister, hoping to see another werewolf in their midst, but instead was a human. A simple normal looking human teenage girl. Who was looking at her hands and arms. His ears went back slightly.

“Oh Applejack…” Granny Smith gently said.

Hearing Granny, Applejack looked up from her limbs to both of them. She could recognize some human qualities that still stuck with them such as Mac’s freckles. She looked at them both in great detail.

Big Mac was taller than before. His usual height of 6,3 was now 6,8. As most werewolves usually have their height extended when they change into their wolf form. He had a shaggy red fur coat safe for his back and arms that matched his spiky orange bangs that reached down back and to his short tail. Unlike his grandmother who had a black nose, he had a brown nose that blended in with his red coat like Winona’s.

Being an older werewolf, Granny Smith had a few traits that most elders had such as floppy ears, doglike whiskers, and graying around her face, but despite that her body can get around a lot better then her human form can. Her main fur color was a light green. The only markings she had was a snow white chest, belly, and tail. Her white hair bun still held neatly to the back of her head.

The only thing that female werewolves don’t have in their transformation is their breasts so movements wouldn’t be restricted. They only stay in the transformation due to pregnancy and after the child is born for a year or so.

Applejack decided to get up from her seat and went over to the door.”Welp, Ah’m gonna let you guys have a good moonlight stroll. Goodnight y’all. Love you.”

Big Mac stood up. Picking up pieces of his torn clothes. Went over to his sister. Pulled her into a great big hug.

“Oof! Ah’m fine Mac!” her voice was muffled by the chest full of fur. Big Mac shook his head.

“Eenope.” He said sadly. He knew his little sister all too well, and he knew when she was trying to hide her true feelings.

Applejack huffed and turned her head so she could breathe again. “Seriously Ah’m fine.” Looking up to her brother. Granny Smith eased out of her chair with her own torn clothes, and went over to the two.

“Applejack, Ah’m sorry it isn’t the night.” She rested a gentle paw on Applejack’s shoulder. “But there is always next time.”

Getting extremely tired of hearing that over and over again, but Applejack manages to keep herself calm and collected. “Granny, Ah’m fine. Just disappointed as usual. At least it’s my last night hiding so Ah won’t get my hopes up about it anymore. Ah’ll just be a human with some wolf-like abilities. Besides this could be good for business. Like if you need to do deliveries on a full moon. Ah can do them instead.” Big Mac eventually let go of her as she continued talking. “Ah’m just gonna look at the bright side of things about it, and move on now. Ah’m just gonna try to be the best Apple Ah can be. whether be a werewolf or a human..Alright?” She looked at both of them. Giving a small smile.

Granny looked at her grandson and went back to Applejack. ”Alright sugarcube. Are you sure you don’t want to join us honey? A stroll might do ya some good.”

“Ah’m sure. Ah’m plumb tuckered out from chores and homework.” She slid open the door.”Goodnight and love you…” Applejack said as she was going up the basement stairwell.

“Goodnight and love you too.” Big Mac and Granny said in unison.

Applejack silently went to the upstairs hallway. She heard the sound of the front door opening and closing. She stepped into the bathroom, and flipped on the light. Applejack decided to sleep in what she had on. She took her own toothbrush and toothpaste. As if she already had a rough night. There was barely any left. She sighed and tried to squeeze what was left onto her toothbrush. Wetted the bristles and brushed her teeth.

While doing so, she looked into the mirror. Sure the girl in front of her seemed optimistic, but behind those green eyes she felt like such a failure. Applejack had depression. There was no other way of describing it. Right now there are so many things going through her head at the moment. Her parents, her family, no wolf form, school, college or lack thereof, running the farm, coming into adulthood, being a good sibling or friend, or figuring out who she liked. Just so many things that created a lot of stress that rested on her shoulders.

Spat out the toothpaste, and washed out her mouth. Applejack looked back at the mirror once more and sighs. She tears her view away from it, exits the bathroom, and goes into her room. Shutting the door behind her. Getting under the covers. As she turned on her alarm for the next morning.

A sudden deep loud howl rang out and shook Applejack to her core. Covering her ears as her hearing was hurting her. “Ugh! Not necessary, Big Mac!” she semi yelled in annoyance and jealousy. She grabbed her covers, and wrapped them around herself. She now felt guilty for being jealous of her brother. Not wanting to dwell on those thoughts. Applejack shook her head, and decided to get some sleep. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day,

Laid her head down, and closed her eyes. Finally drifting off to sleep…

Big Mac, Applebloom! Breakfast!

Applejack groaned as she didn’t want to get up. She opened her eyes. She blinked a few times to sharpen her focus. What she saw confused her. She saw a cardboard box. Which was definitely not there last night. She lifted herself up, and noticed the bed she was on. Did not have any blankets or covers. All it was an empty mattress. She looked around. She saw more cardboard boxes around the room. All her stuff seemed to be missing. She got up from the bed, and went to one of the boxes, and opened it.

Looking inside, and was shocked to find it was some of her things. Such as her alarm clock, her old stuffed dog, a couple of books, and ribbons. She took a whiff in the air. It was breakfast time. She looked at her bedroom door.

Applejack exited out of her room and strolled down the stairs. She passed the living room, and went into the kitchen. “Granny?”

The older woman in question looked back at Applejack in a shock expression, then her expression melted into a scowl, and turned back around to resume her cooking.

That very much shocked her. “Granny? Is something wrong?” She had never seen Granny look so angry before.

Ignoring her completely “Big Mac, Applebloom breakfast is ready!” Granny said, laying out only three plates, and sitting down afterwards at her usual place at the table.

Her siblings entered the kitchen. When Big Mac and Applebloom saw Applejack standing there, they repeated Granny’s expressions, and went to their seats without a word. Big Mac sat where Applejack usually sits, and Applebloom sits next to Granny.

“Huh?” Scratching her head confused and concerned. Why were they acting like that? Applejack decided to try again. “Granny, is something the matter?” She walked a bit closer to the table.

Granny taking a sip of her coffee ignoring her once again. Then turned to her youngest with a smile “So Applebloom you ready for tonight. Your first transformation!”

Applebloom looked at Big Mac and Granny with a great smile back “Yes ma’am! Ah can’t wait!”

“Transformation?” Applejack asked. The other people in the room turned to glare at her. “T-that’s great Applebloom.” She nervously smiled rubbing the back of her neck. But in the back of her mind. She knew that didn’t make any sense. Applebloom was still too young to transform. It only starts around the ages of 14 to 17. Most prominent years being 15 to 16.

Applebloom rolled her eyes and muttered “Thanks” as she stabbed her scrambled eggs with her fork, and brought it to her mouth to take a bite.

Applejack sighed in relief for only a moment. ‘Okay so they're not totally ignoring me.’ She tried to find her words carefully. She had her hands behind her back. “Okay have Ah done something wrong? Why are y’all ignoring me, and why are my things in boxes? Just tell me please.” She asked pleadingly. It was a strange situation. When Granny or Big Mac were upset with anyone else for whatever reason they would be direct about it as to why they would be upset with a person. Only one would give the silent treatment was Applebloom, but that’s mostly due to maturity.

Granny Smith swallowed her eggs and then asked calmly but sternly. “Applejack… Can you transform? Can the magic go through you so you can connect with nature, and help our apple trees grow?”

“…No..Ah can’t.” Applejack looked down at her feet.

“Then what good are you to us?” Granny Smith asked. “Ah’m sorry Applejack, but we don’t have room for mutants in the family.” She spat with venom. “ Your cousin, Breburn, is moving into your room. You can do whatever with your stuff. Ah don’t care, but you’re definitely not welcome here!” As she continued to talk she was getting more and more aggressive with her wording.

Applejack was taken aback of what her grandmother had said.“Ah…” She just couldn’t find the words at first. As hurt as she was, she couldn’t bring herself to lash out. Not yet. She felt tears welding up in her eyes. “So Ah can’t transform.. is that it? Is that why you’re kicking me out?” Her voice was shaking at this point.

Crack

Everyone turned to look at Big Mac, who had a cracked white ceramic mug in his hand. Droplets of blood were leaking from his palm, and onto the table. His hand had half shifted in anger. Red fur covered his arm. “You should know that other reason…” Standing up from his seat. Mac turned to glare at his sister with red glowing eyes.

Applejack felt fear with that. She took a step back. “A-Ah don’t..” she trailed off.

“December 23rd 2007” He said sternly. He continued to shift into his half wolf form.

Applejack softly gasped, looked down, and closed her eyes. She knew that that date represented. That was the day that Big Mac, Applejack, and Applebloom lost their mother and father in a tragic car accident. Applebloom was only a few months old when it happened. Applejack was 5 years of age. While Big Mac—or Little Mac at the time was 6.

It was no one’s fault really. That day was particularly cold, windy, and snowy. Patches of ice we’re still on roads where the salt trucks haven’t been that afternoon. Applejack was in the backseat of the car with her stuffed dog that she got as an early Christmas present.

Buttercup, her mother and Bright Macintosh, her father, thought it would be nice to do some last Christmas shopping as lately Applejack felt being left out due to the new baby. Granny Smith volunteered to babysit Applebloom while Little Mac went to his Cub Scouts Christmas party. So it was just Applejack and her parents on a peaceful afternoon drive.

That was until the tires started to slip on the ice, gaining no traction. Young Applejack started getting nervous. She hugged her dog, and began to whimper as her stomach turned from of the movement of the car. Buttercup reached from the passenger seat to take hold of her daughter’s hand to reassure her that everything will be okay.

Bright Mac must have shouted something, and then her mother, out of pure motherly instinct, shifted and leaped towards the back seat to protect her daughter from the upcoming tree—

Crash!

Applejack couldn’t remember much of what happened afterwards. Either she was knocked unconscious or her brain reused to remember the trauma. All she remembers is waking up in the hospital with a white cast on her arm, and a white bandage on her cheek where glass had cut it. A few days after getting out of the hospital. She was in a little black dress in front of two coffins being lowered into the ground somewhere on Sweet Apple Acres…

The teenage girl looked up to see her older brother in full wolf form. His eyes glowed a blood red. His teeth were bared. In a raspy voice. “Applejack… you were the reason my parents aren’t around anymore. If you hadn't been around my parents would be alive… “He growled as the wind picked up from somewhere. “Ah honestly wish you were the one that died in the accident. At least we wouldn’t have lost them, and now you can’t even transform. You’re no Apple… You are just a disgrace and a disappointment to the family!” He yelled at the top of his lungs. The wind got so bad that the backdoor opened up revealing only a black void.

Tears were running from her eyes to her ears as the wind was blowing hard. It had gotten so bad that Applejack was sliding backwards now. “Wait please!! Ah.. Ah’m sorry!!” She struggled to keep her stance up. Finally was pushed into the void by an invisible force. The only thing she saw was her family with glowing red eyes staring daggers at her. Then the door slammed with a loud boom-
