//-------------------------------------------------------// My Full Blue Moon -by FlyingCougar42- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Moving //-------------------------------------------------------// Moving My Full Blue Moon By FlyingCougar42 Chapter 1: Moving 27th of August , Sunday 3:48 p.m With the windows down, the wind was breezing through the SUV. As the Belle Family was following a large moving truck. There was a mother and father, Magnum ”Hando Flanks” Belle and Cookie “Crumble” Belle. Now being married for almost 23 years. Their love is ever so strong. Then there were their two daughters. Their youngest, Sweetie Belle. With Sweetie being 12, she was an energized young girl. Always loved to help out around the house despite usually making a mess of things, of course most by accident. Then their oldest and most independent of the family, Rarity Belle of 17. She runs her own small business of being a fashion designer, but her business would have to be on hold. As they were moving to a town she had never been to before. Then there was the family cat, Opalescence, laying on Rarity’s lap. Taking a nice cat nap. Since Rarity heard that they were moving. She questioned why they were moving so far away from where she and her little sister spent their childhood, Manehattan. Her mother, who was more adventurous, said she needed a nice change of pace. Instead of living in an overwhelming city, she decided to move herself and her family to the calm suburbs of Canterlot. As they passed the welcome sign of the town. Rarity and Sweetie Belle put their devices down to look at their new surroundings. “Now girls, this quiet little town is called Canterlot. It was founded in 1881 by the Apple Family. Despite being founders they still live at the local farm that is called ‘Sweet Apple Acres’. The town was named ‘Canterlot’ because one of the daughters named a horse that. While riding a wagon train, the horse got spooked, and ran into a wild orchard of apple trees. where the farm is built today. Well isn’t that something?” Cookie asked who was reading the historical brochure. “Eh hmm yes…that is quite something Mother…” Rarity was only half listening. At this moment all she could think about was her past that she had to leave behind. All her life all she knew was the city. It would be nice for something different, but it didn’t seem to make her feel any less nervous about the whole ordeal. “Oh look at the bright side, Rarity.” Her father was looking into the rear view mirror at her and then back on the road as he was the driver. “You’ll get a new start and new friends. At least your sister seems to be excited.” “I am excited, Dad! I hope to make some friends here.” Sweetie Belle explained, looking around. Rarity couldn’t help, but smile at her little sister. She only wanted good things for Sweetie Belle “Well.. I’m glad Sweetie. I just need some time to adjust to this new environment. After all, I am going to miss my friends and the city life.” “Don’t you worry hon, you’ll be just fine here. I’m sure of it.” Magnum commented. “Look girls, your new school!” Cookie said pointing to her right Sweetie tried getting closer to Rarity’s side despite her seatbelt. Now both girls are looking out the same window. There was Canterlot High School. It was a very large building with a horse statue in the courtyard. Since it was Sunday, there were no students in sight.” Looks awfully small compared to your last school, Sis. I’m so glad that the middle school and highschool are in the same building.” Sweetie Belle commented, remembering that she was now in 7th grade. “So am I, but for how small the building is. Looks can be deceiving, we won’t truly know until we get there tomorrow.” Rarity then asked “Mother,Father. Will my car be here in time for tomorrow or would we have to take the bus?” “You have to take the bus for the first week of school dear, but you’ll have it by next week.” Cookie answered. Rarity nodded and continued looking out the window. “Hey, Rare Bear. Look at that.” Rarity’s father pointed to an abandoned looking shop with a sold sticker sign plastered on top of a for sale sticker. Indicating that it had been recently bought by someone. Magnum slowed down to a stop and parked in one of the parking spots that was in front of the building. The moving truck continued on. He knew they would only be there for a few minutes so there was no trouble. “Hm what's that Father?” Rarity asked curiously. “That is where, You’ll be running your business. Surprise!” Rarity’s mother said happily. “Beg your pardon?” Rarity tried to register what her mother just said. “That's what I said, sweetie! This is where your boutique is going to be” Cookie said. “W-what?! You can’t be serious?!” Rarity questioned out of pure confusion. “Oh we are honey! You see.. your mother and I…we've been talking, and well we can see how serious you are about becoming a fashion designer…” Magnum said, turning around to his eldest in his seat. Cookie continues on “And we saw all your commissions you had set up while packing. Your previous room was definitely way too small for your kind of line of work. So we tried to look for any buildings for rent in this area and well voilá. You now have a boutique of your very own!” “Oh thank you! I… I don’t know what to say....” Rarity trailed off entirely grateful for her parents. “But you have to keep your grades up.” Magnum said slightly sternly and then chuckled a bit. “Yes of course!” She cleared her throat. ”Father.” Rarity said, nodding. Still feeling giddy with excitement. “I’m so happy for you, Sis! You’ll be making plenty of dresses now! Can I help? Can I,can I?” Sweetie asked excitedly. “Oh erm.. I’ll.. I’ll have to think about it.”She quickly said ‘Bless her, I know she loves to help, but she usually messes things up.’ Rarity thought to herself. Sweetie Belle smiled “Alright Rarity. Just let me know when you need anything” oblivious to her older sister’s uncertainty. Rarity just smiled and rolled her eyes. Now leaving the future boutique for another day. About 10 to 15 minutes later, There in a cul-de-sac, was the Belles’ new home. The moving truck parked just in front of the house. Where the Belles parked in the cemented driveway. The house had two stories with an added attic and basement. There was a fenced-in backyard with a large pool. The house looked victorian. The sliding was painted to be a very light green with white trimmings, while window shutters were painted a dark green. On top of the building, the roof had dark brown tiles. From what Rarity can see from sitting on the right side of the SUV. Passing her sister’s head, Rarity saw what looks to be a trail of some sort into the woods that came from the left side of the house and past the fence.’Hmm maybe a hiking trail?’ she thought to herself. Sweetie Belle jumped out of the vehicle with pep in her step.“Wow this is our new home!?” asked excitedly looking upward. Rarity taking hold of Opal before getting out. Looking upward as well “The house is simply gorgeous.” commented. The cat just meowed, rolling her eyes at the noise. Waiting to be put down. Sweetie Bell looked at her mom who was opening the garage door.”So Is it true we won’t be sharing a room anymore mom?” she kind of had a sad look on her face. “Yes, that is what Mother said before we left.” Rarity said while gently petting Opal. Cookie went to her daughters “Sorry doll, but Rarity is right. Now that you two won’t be sharing a bedroom anymore, you’ll have your very own rooms. Now come on let’s get our stuff from the moving truck hm? Oh Rarity, you can put Opal into her carrier, and set her down in the living room. Then come back here and help please.” Rarity did what she was told. Magnum was talking with the movers while opening the truck with them. Most of the furniture of the previous apartment was already inside and set up. All that was left were personal items of the 4 family members. A few hours later, near dusk. All the boxes were out of the moving truck, and in the house. Rarity was now in her new somewhat empty room. She was on her bed scrolling on Snapgab. She saw some of her friends posting pictures with each other without her. Rarity sighs as she was more heartbroken that none had reached out to see that she was okay, but she knew they’re busy with their own lives. It still somewhat left her fustraided. “I guess they're just busy or maybe I did something wrong?.” Rarity asked herself out loud. There was a knock on the door, Rarity jumped a bit then composed herself. ”Come in..” Rarity said The door gently was pushed open to reveal only to be her mother, Cookie “How you holding up dearie?” Rarity’s mother asked, gently closing the door behind her. “I’m fine, Mother..” Rarity lied, having her knees to her chest, tossing her phone onto the bed. “Come now.. I know that face. There is obviously something wrong. Do you want to tell your mom about it?” Cookie joined her daughter on the bed then wrapped her arms around her eldest. Rarity was slightly embarrassed with the contact, but she silently returned the embrace anyway. “It can’t be about your new boutique? It is?” Cookie asked “What? Oh no! No. I’m entirely grateful. Thank you so much.” she grins and then her grin faded back into a frown.” It’s just…” she sighs” All these new changes.. I have never moved before. I never had to make new friends, and now neither Coco nor Suri haven’t messaged me. I just wanted to let them know that ‘hey, I’m here.’ and I haven’t gotten a message back. I've known those girls almost all my life, and now they don’t seem to care… Was it something I did? Have I said something wrong? Was I…Was I not good enough to be a friend?” a tear slipped down her cheek. “Oh darling! Don’t you ever think like that! You are good enough! If those girls haven’t bothered to message you back. Then they aren’t being good friends to you. I’m honestly quite shocked that Coco and Suri have not messaged you back.” Squeezed her daughter in the hug and sighs. “Trust me dove, you'll find new friends. I promise. Don’t let other people get you down. It’s just sometimes… friends will come and go. Think of yourself like a tree, and some of your leaves have fallen, but those leaves will be replaced by new stronger leaves. You understand dear?” Rarity sniffed and nodded “Yes I understand.” “Promise me one thing. Never think of yourself any less. You’ll meet lots of people tomorrow. I promise you’ll find at least one friend. Just be yourself hun, and you’ll go far.” Cookie moved a stray strand of hair out of Rarity’s face. “ Okay.. I promise, Mother” Rarity sat up, feeling slightly better. Then she gave her mother a genuine smile. Whipping a few stray tears from her ivory cheeks. “That’s my girl.” Cookie kissed her daughter’s forehead, now releasing her from her embrace, and stood up from the bed. “Dinner will be just a moment. I’ll call you down once it’s done. See you soon dove.” Then she exits the room before gently closing the door behind her. When Rarity thinks she was truly alone “Mother is right. Some people will go while others will stay...” Rarity said to herself then frowned more “Still doesn’t make it any less sad…, but I can’t just sit around and be depressed all my life.” She stood up from her bed. Rarity decided to make herself useful and unpack her remaining items in her room and conjoined bathroom. She looked at some of her boxes. She decided to start with her bathroom first. Taking her main toiletries like deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, and her lavender perfume out first, and put them in their respected homes. Rarity found her toothpaste and toothbrush. She was just about to finish her task of putting them away, but a loud shrill voice called out. “SIS, DINNER IS READY!” Sweetie Belle called from downstairs. “Coming down!” Rarity called back. Quickly putting down her toothbrush into a cup she had. Then hurrying down the stairs. When she entered the kitchen. She saw her mother, pulling a large bowl from the microwave. On the counter were 4 emptied cans of ‘Chef Doyard’ spaghetti and meatballs. Cookie noticed her eldest daughter’s presence “Hehe sorry, I didn’t have room in the car for much food besides cans. So we’re having microwave spaghetti and meatballs for supper. Tomorrow, I’m definitely going grocery shopping.” Cookie chuckled. Rarity chuckled along “That's quite alright. Is there anything you need me to do?” she asked “Sweetie is already setting the table, but you can fill everyone’s cup with water.” Cookie asked as she started putting the numbers. “Yes Mother.” Rarity went to carry on her task. With all waters filled and table set. The Belles finally sat down and began supper. “So how do you girls like your rooms?” Magnum asked his daughters. Filling his bowl. “It feels like a fresh start” Rarity simply stated, taking a bite. “It’s cool, I wish I got to choose my room first.” Sweetie Belle crossing her arms. Glaring at her sister. “The perks of being an older sister” Rarity uses her finger to play with her hair. Cookie smirked, “Well tonight the older sister is doing the dishes.” Both Magnum and Sweetie chuckled a bit at Rarity. Rarity gave the rest of her family an annoyed look. Then she looked back at Cookie and sighed “Yes Mother.” “Are you girls ready for school tomorrow?” Magnum asked “I’m nervous and excited at the same time. I just hope I make friends. I guess.” Sweetie Belle said. “I’m sure you will, darling. You are adorable.” Rarity smiled, taking a drink of her water.” As long as you don’t get tangled with the bad sort. You’ll be fine.” reassured her. “Thanks sis.” Sweetie smiled back at her older sister. “I would say the same to you, Rarity.” Cookie chuckled Rarity Scoofs “What? Do you think I get intertwined with the riff raff of the school?” “Well you are now at the age to be dating. Maybe a ‘bad boy’ would catch your eye. Your father would definitely not like that.” Cookie chuckled as Magnum choked on his water, and coughs. The rest of the family laughs. Cookie gently patted his back. After calming down from laughing “Hehe I for one have no idea what you are talking about.” Rarity smirked with half lid eyes, resting her head on her hands.”To answer your question, Father, I’m ready for school. Just nervous meeting new people here. They probably won’t be like Manehatten kids like Sweetie and I grew accustomed to.” “You’re probably right about that dear. Just be polite, but still be yourselves.” Cookie said resting a hand on Rarity’s shoulder. Sweetie Belle nodded in agreement. Then took one last bite of her spaghetti. “I’m done, may I be excused?” She asked. “Clear your bowl and place it in the sink hun.” Magnum said, wiping his dark brown mustache of any marinara sauce with a napkin. “Yes sir.” Sweetie Belle carried her bowl and glass to the kitchen sink. Then skipped off to her new room. “I better get started I guess.” Rarity said as she and her parents finished their meal, and carried the rest of the dishes to the sink. After dishes were washed, now back in her bedroom. Rarity stripped out of her clothes that she wore for the day, and hopped in her new shower. She let the warm water go down her body as she washed her hair and pale body. Stepping out and grabbed a towel to dry and wrapped herself with. Next, She combed out her purple hair, and blow dried it. As she was brushing her teeth. Rarity looked at herself in the mirror. Taking the toothbrush out and spit into the sink. Wash her mouth with water. She gave a confident smile and said “You got this, Rarity. Just be yourself and everything will be just fine.” Then turned to her suitcase that was in the bathroom.”I better get an outfit ready for school, tomorrow” she chooses an outfit that is simple but fashionable. She flicked the light off, and changed into a light blue nightgown. Turning on her fan. Then slipped under the white covers of her new bed. Pulling her yellow and pink sleep mask over her eyes, and finally dozing off to sleep…. ____________________________________________________________________________ At the crack of dawn, a rooster had sung his morning song. Then came the blaring sound of an alarm clock that was on a nightstand next to the bed. The cocoon of blankets began to stir. A toned hand reached to the noisy clock, and finally turned it off. Rising from the bed revealed to be a girl named Applejack. The 2nd eldest of the Apple siblings. She groaned as she stretched and popped her back and neck. Standing up from the bed. Taking a mighty yawn, and walked over to her door. She quickly opened it to find her younger sister, Applebloom and older brother, Big Macintosh had their doors opened to get to the only upstairs bathroom. Applejack gasped “Oh no ya don’t!” Started running to the bathroom Big Macintosh smirked and half shifted into his werewolf form to beat his two younger sisters. His fangs protruding from his mouth and ears sharpened. Some facial hair started growing around his face as he ran. Applebloom yelled at her brother “that’s cheating Big Mac!” “EeNope!” Big Mac who was now faster made it to the bathroom at the end of hall first and swiftly shut the bathroom door and locked it. Causing the two girls to stop “Ugh! It’s not fair that he can transform and we can’t!” Applebloom crossed her arms growling. Applejack was also frustrated that she too couldn’t transform yet but sighed “Ah know but we’ll transform eventually. We just have to be patient.” rubbing the back of her head. “Well Ah have to wait longer since Ah’m the youngest!” Applebloom looked down, grumbling. “Ah know, but at least you have a few more years without worrying about the full moon. For me Ah have to be since ah’m near… or could be near transforming.” Applejack Giving a look of slight discomfort. Despite it being really rare, some members of the Apple family couldn’t shift into their wolf form. Sometimes the gene will skip a generation. Applejack and her brother were born only a year and a half apart. Mac transformed at the age of 16. While she hasn’t transformed yet. Now being at the age of 17 and a junior of highschool, Applejack knew she should have transformed by now. Every passing full moon she felt more and more like a failure in her family’s eyes. Causing her a slight depression. Applebloom noticed her sister’s discomfort “Hey.. you’ll transform Applejack. Ah just know it.” laying a hand on her shoulder. Applejack smiled a bit “Thanks Applebloom.” Rubbing Applebloom’s head. Then rested a hand on her sister’s shoulder. Applebloom smirked and yelled “...Race ya to the downstairs bathroom!” and then raced past her sister. “Hey!” Applejack ran after her.” Get your fleabitten hide back here!” she growled Both of the sisters’ eyes glowed as they ran. Applebloom reached downstairs, ran past the living room, and raced into the kitchen where the other bathroom was. Reached the door, went inside, stuck her tongue out and then locked it.” You snooze, you lose, Sis!” Applebloom’s muffled voice called out. Skidded to a halt in front of the bathroom.” Ugh!!!” Applejack exclaimed, stomping her foot down. “What in the world is that racket?!” an older woman who was still in her apple printed nightgown entered the kitchen. “Oh good morning Granny. Uh did we wake you?” Applejack asked, rubbing the back of her head nervously. Granny Smith, the Apple family monarch. The grandmother of the 3 siblings. She rolled her eyes at Applejack. “Wakin’ me from my beauty sleep ya did. It’s like you pups are bayin’ at the full moon! Makin’ all kinds of racket!” Granny said, having her arms crossed glaring at her eldest granddaughter. “Ah’m powerful sorry, Granny.” Applejack gently kicked the wooden kitchen floor. Looking downward like she was caught stealing a treat from a cookie jar. Granny lost the glare and started laughing ”Aw shucks young’n. Ah’m just messin’ with ya. No harm done. Ah needed to get up anyhow. Ah’ll get started on breakfast. Ya need to get ready” Turning around to the kitchen counter is getting started on cooking. Sighed in relief “Yes, Granny” Applejack exited the kitchen to get ready for the day. About an hour later, Applejack was ready for school and walked down the stairs only to start smelling pancakes. She entered the kitchen where the smell only got stronger. “There is my other grand pup! Hehehe come on, these pancakes are gettin’ cold.” Granny Smith said as she was flipping another pancake onto a plate. Applejack went to her seat at the kitchen table where food and siblings were waiting. Taking a seat next to Applebloom. “Now Big Mac, Applejack, tonight is a full moon. Ah want you both of your tails back here before dusk“ somewhat dropping her normal behavior into somewhat seriousness. Looking at her grandchildren. “Eeyep” Big Mac taking a bite of his pancakes. Applejack sighs and poking her pancakes with a fork. “Ah’ll be here… “ then took a bite. “Applejack, you know any full moon now that you’ll transform.” Granny looked at her granddaughter with concerned eyes. “Honestly, Granny, Ah don’t think Ah will. It’s been a few months since my 17th birthday. If Ah was gonna transform, Ah would have done it by now… Ah think this is my last full moon hiding. Ah pretty much given up at this point.” Applejack in a frustrated tone. Then took another bite of her pancakes. Applebloom and Big Mac looked at each other with uncertainty. Then back at Applejack. “Hey.” Granny went over to the table and rested a hand on Applejack’s shoulder. Applejack looked up at her grandmother “Ya know my cousin, Aunt Apple Rose was also a late bloomer. She turned when she was 17 as well. She was plum, worried about not being able to transform. Just give it some time sugarcube.” Applejack sighed but didn’t respond. Instead she took out her phone to check the time ‘6:43’ “Aw shoot! We gotta go!” She quickly wolf down her pancakes. The other siblings checked the kitchen clock and did the same. Gathering their bags and then went out the door “Bye Granny Love ya!” All 3 voices rang out. Granny went to the door, smiled, and waved back. “Be good ya hear!? Love ya’ll!” then closed the door, and went back to eat breakfast before getting morning chores done and heading to work.… ____________________________________________________________________________ While being surrounded by a group of fellow students, Rarity was looking around the pickup stop with a messenger bag that was filled with new school books including her sketch pad. Standing next to Sweetie Belle, Rarity was somewhat nervous about this new school, but she was going to make the best of it. Sweetie Belle looked just as nervous as her sister, but she still had a bright smile on her face. A young girl around Sweetie’s age was walking up to them “Hello, my name is Scootaloo. I haven’t seen you before. What’s your name?” This girl had a purple pixie cut with a black and cyan jacket that matched with her boots. Her shorts were green in color. “Hi, my name is Sweetie Belle, and this is my older sister, Rarity. Nice to meet you.” Held out a hand “Charmed to make your acquaintance, Scootaloo.” Rarity said, holding out a hand as well. Scootaloo took both Sweetie’s and Rarity’s hands and shook them individually. “Nice to meet you both. Hey Sweetie Belle, I have another friend that's gonna join us soon. Do you wanna meet her?” Sweetie Bell looked at her sister. Not wanting to leave her sister behind without permission. Rarity's eyes widened,’Oh’ then her face melted into a smile as she kind of knew what her sister was asking. tilted her head towards Scootaloo. ‘Go on.’ And with that Sweetie turned back to the young girl “Sure!” She started walking along with her new potential friend. “See ya Rarity!” Rarity waved to her sister “Have fun Sweetie!” Then pulling out her phone to check the time. Then she heard scuffles of the woods behind her house. She looked from her phone to see 3 students walking from the trail she saw yesterday. One student looked like a senior. He was tall with copper red hair. Had 3 pink freckles on each side of his face. Wearing a cuffed red and brown jacket with a green apple on each side of his collar, with a white t-shirt underneath with jeans on. Odd how he wears red and white sneakers instead of boots. Next seemed to be another younger girl who was walking to Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo. She was wearing a bow behind her head, assuming to keep her red hair from her face. Her outfit consisted of a green shirt with cropped jeans with yellow rain boots on. Last, was a girl around Rarity’s age. She had blonde hair that was tied into a very low ponytail with a red band. On her head was a weathered stetson hat. She was wearing a green and white blouse with a denim skirt. Around her waist was a dark brown belt. On the belt buckle was a red apple. ‘Must be the Apple family kids by their attire.’ Rarity thought to herself. Then she looked up to see a classic yellow school bus driving down to the end to pick up the local neighborhood highschool and middle school kids. The bus stopped in front of Rarity and opened the doors. Rarity went up the steps and sat near the back, by herself. The rest of the kids followed suit and sat where their friends were sitting. Getting settled in her seat, Rarity took out her phone and started thinking of designs for her shop. All she could hope for was that today will be a good day. Occasionally, Rarity would look up to see the girl with the stetson hat. Not sure why she kept looking at her. She just went back to her phone. ____________________________________________________________________________ About an hour later, everyone was now off the bus and on school campus. Applejack, who was heading to her locker. All of sudden was pounced on by an obnoxious pink blur. Now being crushed in a vice grip hug. “APPLEJACK! Have you heard the news!? Have you heard the news!?” Pinkie Pie excitedly asked. “Uh no! Pinkie, Ah’m not sure what you’re talking about! What news!?” trying to breathe. She shut her eyes tight as the pain shot through her nerves and bones. “We have two new students! Oh this is so exciting! It just makes me want to scream!” Pinkie finally let go. Skipping around the winded cowgirl. “Woah..” Applejack stumbled back a bit and took a few deep breaths. She finally replied “Really? Well it makes sense it is a new year and all. So do you know these people yet?” she asked, chuckling knowing full well there is going to be a party in the near future. “Nu-uh! I got to find these people! Otherwise there wouldn’t be a party, and if there is no party then this fanfic will die, and all of us will be in limbo!!!!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed. “..What?” Applejack looked at her confused as her pink sugar obsessed best friend now had 3 heads instead of the 1. “NO TIME TO LOSE, AWAY!” Pinkie yelled and sped past Applejack causing her to turn into a mini brown, blonde, green, and blue twister Applejack finally slowed down in her spinning. Very dizzy ”S-see ya at home mec then! Ugh!” falling on her knees. After that weird but honestly expected interaction with Pinkie Pie. She finally made it to her locker and grabbed her English text book. Now down the hall, Applejack walked into her class to sit next to another one of her best friends, Rainbow Dash, who was snacking on a golden delicious apple before class started. “Sup AJ!” giving a brash chuckle as some apple bits sprayed from her mouth as she talked. Applejack paid no mind to it. “Hey RD. Supposedly we have two new students today. According to Pinkie.” “Yep! That's what I heard.” spinning the bitten apple on her index finger “I hope we get new players on the soccer team.” finally taking another bite. “You always want new players for the team.” Applejack chuckled “Hey, last year we lost to the stupid Shadow Bolts. This year will be different!” Rainbow crossed her arms as she chewed a bit and swallowed. “You gals lost last year cuz you couldn’t keep your grades up and you had to be benched. Being one of the best players and all. Well also Spitfire was sick that day.” Applejack said “Ughh don’t remind me. I’ll keep my grades up this year..” Slouched in her chair “If you ask nicely, Ah’m sure Twilight might be able to tutor ya. Besides, don't you want to get into college.” Giving Rainbow a smug look “Well yeah I do, but we’re in junior high we can talk about that stuff next year. I just want to keep my grades up for soccer” Rainbow stated “Hehe Whatever you say RD” Applejack said resting an elbow on the desk. “So.. what do you think these people are like?” Rainbow Dash taking another bite. “Hopefully people that don’t cause much fuss.” Applejack answered “Yeah, We don’t need another Lightning Dust situation” Rainbow Dash said “Still can’t believe you dated that girl. What in the world were you thinking?” Applejack rolled her eyes at the memory of last year. Where a Vanhoover transfer student came here. Dash asked Lightning out after only knowing each other for a few days. Lightning dragged Rainbow into a dangerous situation where Rainbow almost got expelled. “Hey most players on the soccer team were dating at the time, and.. I kind of felt left out.”Rainbow admitted “Just be glad she got expelled and not me” “It was because Fluttershy and Ah were the ones who got you out of that situation” Applejack gave her a deadpan look. “Yeah yeah I know and many thanks to both of you..”Rainbow rolled her eyes then held her thumb under her chin, thinking” Y’know, I’m still surprised that you haven’t gotten yourself a date.” “No need for one sugarcube. Just busy on the farm. Besides, Ah don’t think anyone would want to go out with a country gal Ah guess.” Applejack rested her arms on her desk. “Oh come on Applejack. You always sell yourself short. You’re a pretty girl. I’m sure someone will ask you out. Have you thought about asking someone out?” Rainbow asked, taking another bite. “Honestly not really. Ah never had a crush on anyone before. Ugh why is all this dating nonsense just so darn complicated?” Applejack rested her head on her arms. “Hey, it's only highschool. Besides, who knows about the future.” Rainbow smiled and patted Applejack’s shoulder.” But you know I’ll never leave you hanging. I’ll be there for any advice you need. I’ll be your wingman..er.. woman.” She winked. “Says the one that had gotten into a relationship 4 days after meetin’ a person, but thanks Rainbow. Ah’ll let you know if Ah have a crush or something.” Applejack lifted her head and rolled her eyes. Ignoring the first part of that statement. “No problem!”Taking one more bite, now the apple is only a core now. She spun the apple again , and then chucked it across the classroom, and right into the trash can that was next to the door.”Yes! Bamb!” Taking a hand making it into a fist and pumping it downward in victory. Unfortunately resulting in hitting her funny bone on the desk.” Yeowch!” Rainbow exclaimed. A couple students clapped and then winced at the pain that the prismic girl was experiencing. Applejack winced as well.”Ouch. You alri-“. Then the bell rang. Everyone took notice. A few students who were standing went back to their seats. A few stragglers entered the classroom door and reached their seats as well just before the teacher arrived. Despite being supposedly human. Applejack can make out the two perfume trails that she picked up with her sense of smell. They were coming closer and closer to the classroom. One was the familiar cherry blossoms that the teacher wore, and the other was an unfamiliar scent of lavender. With also her sense hearing she can make out the two sets of shoes walking just outside the classroom wall. Mrs.Cheerilee walked into the class with a girl that Applejack had never seen before. Applejack looked at the new girl with curiosity. This girl had long curly dark violet hair with Ivory white skin that Applejack ever saw. Her eyeshadow from what farm girl could see from a distance was a light blue. Her outfit looked simple but with some elegance to it. She had on a light blue shirt with the sleeves that only reached to her elbows. She also had on a purple skirt with 3 diamonds on. Her purple boots that had a single diamond on each that pulled her whole outfit together. ‘Wow.. Ah mean..She seems fancy..probably one of those popular types..’ Applejack thinking to herself. “Lame..''Rainbow Dash, who was rubbing her elbow, whispered and sighed as her dreams of having a new athletic buddy to hang out with was crushed into pieces. As this girl looked nothing like a fellow athlete. Applejack rolled her eyes at the comment, but continued to smile. Still looking at the new girl in awe. “Good Morning Class,” Mrs. Cheerilee said as she said every school morning.” Today we have a new student. Please let all of us give her a warm welcome. Go ahead and introduce yourself dear.” Looking at the alabaster girl who was standing and looking quite nervous. “Um yes, Hello, My name is Rarity Belle. I recently just moved here from my hometown, Manehattan. It’s very nice to meet all of you.” Rarity ended her introduction with a slight curtsy. Most of the students clapped. Causing the fashionista to slightly blush. “What a beautiful name, Ms. Belle. Now how about you go and take a seat betweeeeeen…”Looking around the room “ these two.” Walking over to Applejack and Rainbow Dash. Rarity nodded and followed her. Applejack and Rainbow scooted away from each other to make room for the new girl. Where Rarity took her seat between them. “Now girls, I would like you two to make Rarity feel welcome here at CHS. Do you girls understand?” Mrs. Cheerilee asked, “Yes ma’am.” Applejack tipped her hat to her. “You got it Mrs. C.” said Rainbow Dash, winking and clicking her tongue. She smiled “Now that’s settled. I have to ask Principal Celestia something. I’ll be back in a moment!” Mrs.Cheerilee said as she walked out of the classroom. Applejack smiled, turning to Rarity “Well Howdy Ms. Rarity. My name is Applejack. “ held out a hand to shake on. “Hello, it’s very nice to meet you, Applejack.” Rarity gently took Applejack’s hand and shook it. Then turning to the other girl. “And I’m Rainbow Dash! You probably heard of me. Afterall I am the best athlete.” Also holding out a hand to shake. Rarity chucked “ Not to say that I have darling, but I’m charmed to meet your acquaintance as well, Rainbow Dash.” Rarity smiled and shook the athlete’s hand. Letting go “So you’re from Manehattan huh?” Rainbow asked. “Why yes. I was born and raised there. I must say Canterlot so far is a quiet town compared to the noise in the city. Honestly it’s nice not to hear constant honking at 3 a.m. especially when you have exams the next day.” Rarity answered and chuckled at the last part of her answer. “Ah honestly don’t know how city folks get by with all the noise.” Applejack chuckled “Well being born there, you kind of have to learn how to tune things out.” Rarity said as she turned back to the farm girl. “Heh makes sense” Applejack replied then she wanted to ask a question “Have you heard the Oranges? The family who has that factory around those parts?” “Why yes. I never met them before, but Mother would usually buy their oranges or orange juice. Why do you ask darling?” Rarity asked “Well my Aunt and Uncle Orange are the founders. Ah used to live with em’ for a couple weeks. Then moved back to the farm. Homesick and all y’know.” Applejack said not exactly wanting to explain as to why she was there in the first place. “Oh I understand what you mean. It will take some time for me to get used to being here from now on and not be back in the hustle and bustle of the city. But I think I can manage.” Rarity was curious about the two girls between her. So she wanted to continue getting to know them better. “So are you both from here? Any siblings perhaps?” Rarity asked. Turning to Rainbow who looked about to say something. “I was actually born in Las Pegasus. Moved here around say…Kindergarten I think. That’s when I met AJ and the rest of the girls. Oh and I do have an adopted little sister, Scootaloo” Rainbow Dash said, pulling out her English text book. “Oh I already met her at the bus stop. I unfortunately didn’t see you.” “Yeah I take my car to school. Squirt usually rides the bus, because of Applebloom.” “I think I did see this Applebloom at the bus stop along with you, Applejack. I saw you exit the trail behind my house.” Rarity turned back to Applejack. “Oh so your family bought that house. Hehe Ah guess that makes us neighbors.” Applejack laughs and continues “Anyway yeah, the trail leads back to our farm, Sweet Apple Acres. My lil’ sister, Applebloom, my older brother, Big Mac, and Ah live there with our granny, Granny Smith.” “I have a little sister named Sweetie Belle. She actually goes here as well, but she’s in middle school. Oh and of course we live with our parents too. ” Rarity laughs. “ I didn’t think we lived close to each other darlings.” Looking at both girls. “Yeah, all of the girls live in the same subherb well safe for Applejack. So you’re neighbors with me,Flutters,Twi,Pinks,Sunny, and Aj” Rainbow said, Rarity had to bite her tongue from correcting Rainbow Dash’s incorrect grammar. “Oh yeah, we have other friends as well. If you want, you can meet them at lunch time. Would you like that?” Applejack asked “I would love that, darling.” Rarity smiled at the farm girl. Applejack looked into her beautiful cobalt eyes. Butterflies fluttered in her gut. Then she smelled the perfume of her teacher who was coming back. Clearing her throat. “W-we better get our books out, sugarcube.” Pulling out her English text book from her bag and putting it in front of herself. “Very well.” Rarity had done the same with her new book. Mrs. Cheerilee entered into the classroom “Alright now that settled. New school year, new problems I suppose.” She chuckled, “Now I want you all to turn to page 3 of your textbook…. ____________________________________________________________________________ Rarity had to unfortunately separate from her new acquaintances for a couple of classes, but eventually she saw them in front of two sets of brown double doors with windows showing that it was the cafeteria inside. Applejack and Rainbow waved her over. Rarity waved back and walked over “Hello girls. I’m assuming this is where we go to eat for lunch.” Pushing one the double doors open “Hehe Yep! Now this is where the cafeteria is. My Granny is actually the lunch lady around these parts.” Applejack said to Rarity “Here follow me, ah’ll even pay for your food.” Rarity stopped walking, being taken aback “What? Oh no no you don’t have to do that. Darling. Afterall we just met.” she smiled, having a hand to her cheek. “Nonsense! It’s your first day of being here and Ah want you to make yourself feel welcome here sugarcube.” Applejack resting a hand on her shoulder then letting go. “Then at least let me buy your lunch back.” Rarity said. “No, you don’t have to do that. Let me buy your lunch.” Applejack said walking passed Rarity and turned to face her. “Um girls-” Rainbow said, concerned but she was ignored. “But that wouldn’t be fair if you bought both our lunches.” Rarity explained. “But today is your first day of school here. Ah’m supposed to make you feel welcomed here.” Applejack’s face started to melt into a frown. “Uh so am I…Girls?” Rainbow said, rolled her eyes, but again but once again was ignored. “And you have darling. I feel very welcomed,”Holding a hand to her chest and continuing “ but like I said we just met. So I don’t want you wasting any money on me” Rarity started frowning as well. “Helloooo!?” having a hand in front of their faces, but to no avail. “Rarity, this ain’t a waste at all! Ah want to do this for you!” Applejack started to get upset. “ I still say you don’t have to!” Rarity putting her hands on her hips. “Anyone home?!” Rainbow Dash asked then she noticed they were causing a scene. “Well Ah’m sorry for trying to be friendly-like!” Raising her voice, Applejack glared at the fashionista. Her eyes glowed a bit in anger, but due to the lighting no one noticed. “Well I highly appreciate it, Applejack, but there is No. Need!” Rarity glared at the farm girl back. “Oh brother..” Rainbow rolled her eyes and grabbed both of them by the shoulder “GIRLS!” yelled on the top of her lungs. “WHAT?!” Both the farmer and designer both glared at her. Rainbow released Rarity’s shoulder and pointed to the rest of the cafeteria.Where it was now dead quiet. Both Applejack and Rarity followed Rainbow’s hand. Students all around staring at them. Both blushed with embarrassment, and turned away. Both of them had their arms crossed and were not looking at each other. Some students shrugged and went back to their lunch. A couple giggles can be heard. “Jeez, what are you two, an old married couple? It’s just lunch. Take a chill pill, and let's get some grub.” Rainbow headed off to the cafeteria line. A few seconds passed and both girls turned to look at each other. Finally Rarity sighed “I guess she is right… Sorry for yelling like that.” “Yeah… Ah’m sorry too, sugarcube. It's not like me to lose my temper like that. Are you sure you don’t want me to buy you lunch?” Applejack asked. Her eyes didn’t glow anymore. Rarity sighs again “I suppose you can…. Thank you Applejack” Walking towards where Rainbow Dash was walking and Applejack walking behind. “Your Welcome, Rarity” Applejack smiled. “But I would definitely have to do something in return for your generosity.” Rarity said then looked up and down at the farm girl.” Would you like a new outfit, Applejack?” “What?” Applejack asked confused “ I actually didn’t mention this before, but I make clothes for my business, and I thought maybe you would like a new outfit..for buying my lunch for me.” Rarity said, trying really hard not to sound like she was bragging. Applejack scratched her temple under her hat “Well..Alright, but Ah don’t think buying lunch is the same as making a whole new outfit, sugarcube.” Picking a lunch tray. Looked at the lunch menu, and saw that the main dish was chicken sandwiches today. “Well I always try to be generous to those around me. That’s what my grandmother taught me to be when I was younger.” Taking a lunch tray as well and a few food items. “Hm that’s nice” Applejack smiles, doing the same. “ My granny will always tell me honesty is the best policy. So I always strive to be honest. Right Granny?” looking up to see her grandmother “What did you say young’n?” Granny looking up from the cash register. Then she looked at the new face she hadn't seen before. “And who might you be, honey?” “Granny, This is Rarity, she is new to CHS. Ah’m buying her lunch today.” Applejack said, placing a hand on Rarity’s shoulder. “Well nice to meet ya Rarity. Ah’m Granny Smith, but you can call me Granny. Since you’re my granddaughter’s friend and all.” She gave a wrinkled smile and a wink at the young girl. Then placed an apple each onto the 3 girls trays just as she always did. “Nice to meet you too um Granny” Rarity awkwardly grins at the older woman. It felt strange calling someone else Granny who wasn’t her own grandmother. Applejack gave some money to Granny Smith. “Now remember Applejack.. before dusk.” Granny said sternly and quietly, taking the cash from Applejack’s hand. Applejack gave a somber look.”It’ll be alright.” Granny gave her granddaughter a gentle smile. Rarity, who was following Rainbow. She had heard what was said. She slightly turned to look at the grandmother and granddaughter. ‘Dusk? Hm I wonder what that is about’ but she decided it was a family matter. Applejack followed after her. Her somber look vanished, and gave into a small grin. ”Alright you two we got food let’s get to the table. I see the other girls.” Rainbow Dash said walking towards a table with a couple of girls that were already there. Rarity and Applejack walked behind. The trio reached the table to see four other girls. “Hey guys, we were waiting for you.” A girl with red and gold hair said “ So who is your sparring partner, AJ?” looking at the new girl with a smirk. Remembering seeing them bicker earlier. Applejack looked at Rarity who was next to her and said “Gals, This here is Rarity. She is a new student at CHS. Rarity, this is Sunset Shimmer.” “Hello!” Sunset melted into a grin. “Twilight Sparkle.” “Hello there!” Twilight looked up from her book, and smiled. Her glasses somewhat slipped from the bridge of her nose, so she adjusted them again. “Fluttershy.” “Eep!” a pinked hair girl hid behind her long bang, and then composed herself. Moving the bang out the way “H-hello…” then she smiled shyly. “And then last but definitely not least” Applejack chucked “ Is- wait where did she go?” The rest of the girls looked around. Then a pink girl appeared right in front of Rarity.“Hi! I’m Pinkie Pie! It’s so great to meet you!” Having a hand out. “Wah! Oh” sheepishly chuckled “Hello to you too, Pinkie Pie.” Rarity took her hand then Pinkie shook it very fast “I’m -Rar-ity. Ni-ce t-to me-et y-you” couldn’t actually say her introduction with Pinkie’s fast paced handshake until Applejack grabbed on and put a stop to it. “Alright Pinkie that’s enough. You don’t want to scare the poor gal?” Applejack asked, chuckling. “Oki Doki Loki!” Pinkie Pie let go, and skipped back to her seat. Applejack looked at Pinkie then realized she still had Rarity’s hand. Looking up at Rarity. They both let go with a hint of blush on both their cheeks. “Sorry about Pinkie Pie. She always has high energy.” Applejack rubbed her own shoulder. “That’s quite alright darling. I understand” Rarity said, looking to the side, and then back to the table. “Hey you'll eventually get used to it” Sunset Shimmer said “ Have a seat girls.” All 7 sat down and began eating their meals. Fluttershy who was hiding behind her pink hair again, and then looked at Rarity “Wow, Rarity you have a pretty outfit..” she said meekly. “Oh! Why thank you. It’s Fluttershy is it?” Rarity asked Fluttershy nodded shyly, and moved the strain of hair. “I say you have a very pretty outfit as well. It’s adorable. Did you make it?” Rarity asked. “Oh yes. I've been taking an interest in sewing recently. I even made my pet rabbit a sweater.” Fluttershy said. “Why, that's marvelous. I also make outfits as well for my business. Maybe one day you can come over to my house and maybe make an outfit together or two. Maybe you can help me make Applejack’s new outfit since you know her better.” Rarity said excitedly. “That sounds nice..” Fluttershy smiled a bit. “Outfit? Applejack, you’re getting a dress?” Sunset asked and then chuckled a bit. “Hey, she is just repaying me by paying for her lunch and all. Unfortunately she won’t take no for an answer. As long it’s not a ‘fru-fru’ dress it’s fine by me ” Applejack giving Sunset a glare. “Yeah AJ has never been into anything fancy. Last year, for the Fall Formal she showed up in her ‘work duds’” Twilight Sparkle taking two of her fingers into quotation marks. chuckling softly in her hand. “Hey my dress’s straps snapped…and okay maybe it was a bit too tight on me.” Applejack blushed “Besides it’s not like ah was on a date with anyone.” “Well maybe this year I can design you a dress“ Rarity smiled and then grabbed her apple and gently bit into it. “I’ll have to give that a thought, sugarcube.” Applejack said. “Psst! I’ll pay you 20 bucks to make the fanciest dress for AJ.” Rainbow leaning towards Rarity half whispering. Obviously the rest of the group was laughing except for a certain farm gal. “Oh brother..” Applejack said, rolling her eyes while taking a bite of a chicken sandwich. “Don’t worry Applejack. I promise I will make something you like, even though 20 dollars does sound nice.” Rarity chuckled “I’m assuming you like something rustic?” “Well..as long as it ain't fancy. Ah’ll be happy as a dog chewin’ on a bone.” Applejack smiled as she pulled out one of her countryisms. She took off her hat and gently placed it on Rarity’s head. “Oh.” Rarity smiled and blushed “I-I shall try my best darling.” She gently took Applejack’s hat off her head and placed it back on its owner. Then ran a hand over her hair. “Oooo I bet it’s gonna be a rootin’ tootin’ outfit!” Pinkie said excitedly. “Well as I said, I shall try my best. After all, it’s been about a month since I made something new. With all the packing what not.” Rarity took a drink of her water. “Oh yeah, Rarity is from Manehattan.” Rainbow Dash said, taking a bite of her own chicken sandwich. Twilight who was taking math notes before looking up at Rarity to ask. “Really wow. That's a couple states away isn’t it?” “Why yes it is. My mother and father decided to move us to Canterlot.” Rarity said, looking around the table. “Us?” Fluttershy asked, playing with her hair. “Oh I have a little sister, Sweetie Belle. I thought I saw her a moment ago. Oh I see her with Scootaloo and Applebloom.” Narrowing her eyes. As she found her target and waved. The rest of the girls next to her followed her gaze and waved as well. Scootaloo noticed and said some unheard words, pointed to the table, and waved back.. The other two middle schoolers turned in their seats and waved back to where the juniors were seated. Applejack chuckled “Y’know Ah feel like your sister fits right along with those two” “I think you’re right, Applejack.” Rarity smiles “OOooo Rarity! Do you think this Saturday that you and your sister can come over to Sugarcube Corner?” Pinkie asked with stars in her eyes. Everyone safe for Rarity rolled her eyes. “Um… I unfortunately don’t know where that is darling, but I can look up on my phone. If my parents say yes. Then we would be happy to attend.” Rarity giving a small grin. Eyeing Rarity “Just a warning. If you can make it. It’s gonna get pretty loud.” Sunset chuckled, eating part of her lunch. “Well jeez I hope so! This is gonna be the Loudest..Craziest..Funniest..Greatest.. And most of all SPECTACULAR PAR-” Pinkie Pie was cut off by Rainbow Dash’s hand covering her mouth. “Don’t you want to be a surprise?” Rainbow Dash smirked while the rest of the girls laughed. As they settled back down the bell rang indicating that lunch was over. Removing Rainbow’s hand. “Awww! I wanted to get to know you more Rarity!” Pinkie gave Rarity the puppy eyes as the fashionista was gathering her trash. “Oh so have I, but I’m sure we share some classes with you all.” Rarity standing up along with the other girls who were about to throw their trash away. “Ah’m sure we do, come on we don’t want to be late for our classes.” Applejack said, leading the group to the trash cans and the cafeteria doors…. ____________________________________________________________________________ The rest of the school day was uneventful, Rarity had gotten to know more of 6 girls that she had met throughout her classes. She was now getting on the bus. Seated near the back again. A moment later, a hand rested on her shoulder. Rarity jumped a bit, and looked up to see those emerald green eyes and white freckles that she now associated with Applejack. “Hello again.” She grins “Hehe Howdy again.. Is this seat taken?” Applejack asked, having her book bag slung over her shoulder. “Oh none at t’all. Please have a seat.” She scooted over to the window to allow Applejack to have a seat. “Well Ah honestly consider us friends at this point so why not?” taking her seat. Pulling her book bag onto her lap. “As have I. You and the other girls have been so kind to me today. I’m also glad I wouldn't have to sit on the bus by myself this week.” Rarity said “Yeah Ah just usually sit with my brother, but he is not a guy with words so Ah just usually be on my phone. It’ll definitely be a nice change of pace with someone Ah can actually talk to.” She smiles at Rarity. Both of the girls felt the bus moving as they were talking. “Speaking of phones.. would you like my phone number?” Rarity asked “Well you don’t have to ask me twice.” Applejack chuckled, digging into her backpack. Found her phone and pulled up her contacts. “Here is my number.” leaning over to let Rarity look. Rarity copied the phone number that was on Applejack’s phone and texted it. Shortly after, a notification appeared on Applejack’s phone. “There we are.” Rarity smiled at Applejack “Do you mind if Ah add you to our group chat?” Applejack asked. “I don’t mind at all, but you should ask the other girls first.” Rarity added “Just did and they said yes.” Having the group chat between the girls pulled up. Showed it the Rarity. Then Applejack turned her phone to herself and added Rarity. Rarity’s phone buzzed with multiple messages of numbers she didn’t recognize. Mostly sporadic text from one number. “I think I know who Pinkie Pie is.” Both Rarity and Applejack laughed, Then she put everyone into her contacts. “Thank you. I’m glad you see me as a friend” grinning “Same here, Sugarcube” smiles back. Then they felt the bus stop, and they were back to the cul-de-sac bus stop. “Welp we better get off the bus. Otherwise we’ll be chewing the seats for food. “ Applejack chuckled as she got up from her seat. Rarity chuckled along,“ Well lets hope we don’t get stuck then.” also getting up from her seat. Following Applejack and other students outside. She looked around, looking for her sister. “Rarity!” Sweetie Belle ran straight first to Rarity and gave her a great big bear hug. Her sister stumbled back a bit from Sweetie’s sudden weight.. “Op! Hehe Sweetie Belle, How was school?” returning the embrace “Oh it was great! I have two new friends, Applebloom and you already met Scootaloo.” Sweetie Looked over her shoulder to Applebloom. Who was talking to her older sister. The older girl noticed, and decided to walk over to the two The Older farm girl spoke first. “Howdy, You must be Sweetie Belle. Rarity talked about you some. Name’s Applejack.” Applejack held a hand out. “Nice to meet you, Applejack. Applebloom talked a lot about you and your brother.” Sweetie let go of her sister to shake Applejack’s hand. “And you must be Rarity. Name’s Applebloom.” Held a hand out as well. “Nice to meet you too as well, Applebloom.” Rarity shook the younger farm girl’s hand. “Rarity, Sweetie Belle!” The group looked over at the Victorian house and saw Magnum and Cookie waving to them on the front porch. Both Belle sisters waved. Then Cookie motioned them to come with her hand. Rarity gave a slight frown. “Oh I’m terribly sorry darlings, but Sweetie and I must be going. We shall see you both tomorrow. It was very nice meeting the both of you.” Rarity said wishing this meeting didn’t end so soon. “Aww!” Both of the middle schoolers groaned. “Hey Hey now. Don’t you worry ya’ll. You’ll get to see each other tomorrow. Ah promise.” Applejack put a hand on her sister’s shoulder. “That's right.” Rarity smiled and took her own sister’s hand “Come along, Sweetie. Goodbye Applejack, Applebloom.” Rarity led Sweetie Belle to her new house and parents. “Bye y'all. See you tomorrow!” Applejack waved. “Bye Sweetie Belle!” Applebloom did the same. Both Rarity and Sweetie waved back and went inside with their parents. Once the Belles entered their home through the front door. Applebloom turned to Applejack.” Ah like Sweetie Belle. She is very nice. Rarity seemed nice too.” “Me too Lil’ sis. I honestly didn’t see Rarity and Ah getting along in the beginning, but that girl had some real fire in her.” Applejack chuckled. “Sweetie seems like a sweet lil’ gal too. Did You and Scootaloo treat her well?” “Of course! In fact, Sweetie Belle came up with an awesome idea. We formed our own special group! We call it ‘The Canterlot Movie Club’ or ‘CMC’ for short. The name was my idea.” Applebloom chuckled, “ What do you think?” the young girl asked with stars in her eyes. Applejack chuckled and rubbed her sister’s head “Aww. That's a swell idea. Ah’m happy that both of y'all are getting along.” All of sudden a deeper voice cleared his throat. The older farm girl turned and saw her brother at the edge of the woods waiting for his younger sisters. Applejack turned back to Applebloom. “Well we best be going as well. We got chores and homework to do before dark.” “Right!” Applebloom started following her brother and sister down the trail… ____________________________________________________________________________ The Belle Family was seated at the dinner table. As they were digging into their salmon. As Cookie said last night, she went grocery shopping earlier in the day, and decided salmon and broccoli with cheese was a healthy dinner for her family. “So how is school today, dears?” Cookie asked Rarity decided to speak first. “Oh today was a wonderful day, Mother. I actually made 6 new friends.” she said happily. “Oh wonderful honey.” Magnum smiled at his eldest then turned to his youngest. “And what about you little lady?” “I made two new friends! Their names are Scootaloo and Applebloom. We came up with a name for our special group. It’s called ‘The Canterlot Movie Club.’ or ‘CMC’” Sweetie Belle said as she stuffed her face with fish. “Oh Sweetie, don’t eat so fast. You’ll choke.” Rarity sighs. Sweetie rolled her eyes but complied. Then swallowed. “It’s great you two made friends. So Rarity, who are these 6 friends? You haven’t given their names yet.” Magnum asked “Hm? Oh right. My apologies. Their names are Rainbow Dash, Sunset Shimmer, Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Applejack.” Rarity was a bit more happy as she said that last name. She honestly didn’t know why. “Wow.. See I promised you, you’ll make at least one friend, and look at you now, you made at least 6.” Cookie said, as she took a bite of broccoli. “Honestly I’m quite happy with all of them. Including Applejack. We may have gotten into a bit of a spat today” Rarity said, chuckling in her hand. “Hehe Yeah Rarity and Applejack made a whole scene in the cafeteria.” Sweetie said as she took a sip of her sweet tea. “A scene? What type of scene?” Cookie asked, a bit concerned. Rarity sighed and told the truth.” Applejack wanted to buy me lunch, but I thought it was a bit much just to make me feel welcome. So we went back and forth about it. She definitely wouldn’t take no for an answer. I swear that girl is stubborn.” Rarity laughed gently “Hmm reminds me of a girl who is also stubborn.” Magnum whipped his mustache of cheese, “Who are you referring to?” Rarity asked out of curiosity. “You of course Sis!” Sweetie Belle laughed. The adults of the room laughed along. “Oh I’m not that bad.” Rarity crossed her arms and stuck her nose in the air with a “Hmph!” “No you’re right… Your terrible dear!” Cookie laughed. ”I wonder who is worse? You or This ‘Applejack’?” Rarity scoffed and rolled her eyes and then realized she had something to ask. Losing her annoyed dermitter “Oh I have something to ask. You see. Pinkie Pie asked me to attend an outing at this place called ‘Sugarcube Corner’. Sweetie Belle is also invited as well, and I wanted your permission. So Mother, Father would it be alright if Sweetie and I attended?” Cookie and Magnum gave each other a look. The gentleman titled his head to his two daughters. Cookie, who got the message and began “Well of course you have our permission, but we do want to let you know that on Thursday morning, your father and I have to go back to the bakery in Manehattan, and oversee it for a few days. Then we’ll be back by Sunday.” Cookie finished “W-what!?” Rarity asked “Huh?!” Sweetie said both at the same time. “But Mother, I never looked after Sweetie Belle for that long before.” Rarity nervously said “Why would you have to go back to Manehattan so soon?” “Yeah and How come Rarity has to look after me anyways? I can look after myself.” Sweetie crossed her arms and glared at her family. “Well… yes we believe you can with your ‘wonderful’ cooking skills, but you’re still a child and someone still has to look after you.” Cookie explained as she whipped her mouth with a napkin. Rarity shuttered at the thought the last time her little sister tried to cook a surprise breakfast in bed for her. Even though it was a nice gesture it still gave her the shutters on how bad it was ‘I still wondered how in the world you can burn juice…’ then she looked at her father who cleared his throat. “And as for your question as to why. Some of the managers are having trouble running it. As your mother is the founder and CEO. We have to go back from time to time.” Magnum explained. “But Dad, why do you have to go?” Sweetie Belle asked “Well… being a retired football player has its perks. Plus your mother and I would like have a bit of a vacation…” resting a hand on his wife’s shoulder “If you get my drift.” Giving a wink and a kiss on Cookie’s cheek. Rarity blushed in embarrassment and sighed “I really did not need to know that…” Sweetie however was just confused “I don’t get it.” She whipped her hands on her skirt “I’m done. May I be excused?” “Sweetie Belle! How many times have I told you not to wipe your hands on your clothes?!” Rarity raised her voice a bit. “It is a crime against fashion, and you know it.” As an example, she wiped her mouth and hands on her napkin instead. “It’s going in the washing machine anyway…” Sweetie said bitterly Cookie chuckled and rolled her eyes at her two daughters and how different they are from each other. Then she turned to Sweetie “You may, dear.” Sweetie Belle smiled and took her dishes and silverware into the kitchen. Cookie turned back to her eldest. “See you're a natural already.” “Natural at what, Mother?” Rarity asked, taking her last sip of tea. “Being responsible dear. Obviously teaching your sister manners and teaching her what’s right and wrong. That is a very admirable trait for an older sister.” Cookie explained. Eating the rest of her salmon. Rarity blushed and eyed her mother “Well I learned that from the best.” chuckled. Cookie finished her meal and got up from her seat, and kissed Rarity on top of her head. “Thank you dear. Now I’m sure you girls have homework to do. So I’ll do the dishes tonight. Are you done,Rarity?” “Oh yes. Thank you Mother. Have a nice evening to the both of you.” Rarity said as she got up from her seat. “We love you.” Cookie said as she finished her fish. “Goodnight Hun. Make sure you have your homework done.” Magnum said. “Love you too. I’ll make sure.” Rarity said, Gathered her dishes, and placed them in the kitchen sink. went towards where she left her messenger bag that was in the living room. She went upstairs and into her bedroom. She still had to empty some boxes, but it could be done later. Rarity got out the math homework she was assigned. She wasn’t terrible at math, but she wasn’t too keen on the subject. Luckily that was the only homework as assigned. After that was finished, Rarity sent another text to her ‘friends’ who were back in Manehattan. After about 20-30 mins of mindless watching videos on the internet waiting for a reply back. She gave up for the night, and decided to get ready for bed. After her shower and her nightly routine. She got dressed in her blue cotton pajamas. Just before she slipped into bed, she turned off the lights. Out her window she noticed how beautiful the night sky was. Due to less light pollution. She finally saw more stars then she ever did when she was in the city. “How beautiful…” She opened her bedroom window, and stuck her upper body out. “Hm I definitely do a whole fashion line inspired by this.” Looking upward she saw the full moon. She sighed and rested her arms, and head on the window sill. Taking in the fresh air. All of a sudden. A powerful howl echoed through the night. Shaking Rarity to her core. ‘What on earth...’ End of Chapter 1 Author's Note Hello! My name is FlyingCougar42, and this is my first public fan fiction. Cougar here! It’s been a minute since chapter 1. I’m finally working on chapter 3. I did actually intend for this chapter to be a bit longer, but I thought against it later on as I really don’t want to lore dumb on you guys on everything about this story lol. Anyway this does have themes of depression and a tiny mentions of blood and death towards the end. Just a bit of warning. Anyway this chapter to gonna focus on the Apple family and Applejack’s ‘Transformation Blues’ Now for the werewolf forms for those you love 80s cartoons. The ‘Half’ werewolf form is based around the 1986’s teen wolf cartoon series. The whole series is on YouTube for free if you are interested. The ‘Full’ Werewolf form is based on most modern depictions of werewolves. Such as digitigrade wolves with short tails (Think of a furries lol) . Some human qualities will stay such as hair/fur color, freckles, moles or such. Anyway, this is all I have to say as to now. Hope you guys enjoy! See you next time! Transformation Blues Chapter 2:Transformation Blues 28th of August, Monday 3:36 p.m After the Apple sisters said their goodbyes, They started following their brother, Big Macintosh, to the hiking trail that led back to their home, Sweet Apple Acres. Applebloom jogged up ahead to catch up to her brother while her sister, Applejack silently followed along as she kept her eyes on the ground as she listened to her little sister’s telling of her day to their brother who only says very little.”Oh you should have seen her Big Mac! Diamond Tiara was so angry at Sweetie Belle for defending Scoots and Ah. Ah never seen Diamond so mad!” Applebloom chuckled. “Hehe Eeyep.” Big Mac gently smiled as he kept walking. “Hey, we should invite Sweetie and Rarity over to the farm one day. Right Applejack?” Mac only responded by nodding. After a moment of only birds chirping. When Applebloom didn’t get a response back,”Applejack?” Both Applebloom and Big Mac stop and turn to see Applejack walking with a depressive look on her face who wasn’t paying much attention to her surroundings, and passed her siblings. Big Mac grabbed her shoulder, and Applejack woke from her stupor. “Hm? Oh sorry y’all Ah’m just thinking. What did you say, Bloom?” Applejack asked as she rubbed the back of her neck. “Well..Ah did ask if maybe we can invite Rarity and Sweetie Belle to farm sometime. Are you alright sis? You seem down.” Applebloom said with a frown. “What- Oh Just hunkydory! And of course we can invite Rarity and Sweetie sometime, but really Ah’m fine.” The older sister lied as her nose scrunched up, looking side to side, and the fakest smile that anyone could see. Applebloom and Big Mac looked at each other, and then both chuckled “Applejack, you’re by far the worst liar Ah ever heard. Right, Big Mac?” The younger sister asked. “Eeyep. You can’t lie for the life of ya.” Big Mac said in his deep voice. Applejack sighed and nodded “Yeah..you’re right.” She gave back a frown.” It’s just about tonight..” she said somberly. She looked back where they came from to make sure no one overheard their conversation. Of course both siblings understood what she meant. Applebloom went up and hugged her big sister. “Well Ah believe in you.” Wrapping her arms around Applejack’s sides.” You can do it.” “Eeyep.” Smiled downward to both of his sisters. He wrapped an arm around Applejack by her shoulders. Applejack took glances at both of her siblings and sighed. Her spirits were lifted a bit.”Thanks y’all.” She smiled as she wrapped her arms around Applebloom.” Come on before Granny loses her hair wondering where we’re at.” Dragging her sister playfully. Big Mac nodded as he kept his arm around Applejack as they walked. Applebloom giggled as she made her legs go limp as her older sister dragged her along. Around 15 mins on the hiking trail, the siblings finally reached the peak of the tall hill that showed the beautiful view that showed all of Sweet Apple Acres.”Ah think Ah see Granny.” Applebloom said as she stood up and let go of her sister. Applejack squinted and then smiled. Sure enough, there on the farm house porch was Granny Smith doing light sweeping with an old broom.” Yep and we better get down there. Ah’m sure you got homework lil’ sis” Eying Applebloom. The youngest Apple scoffed “Hey don’t you two have homework?” She asked looking up at her older siblings. “Yes, but we gotta get our chores done before dusk. You should know about that by now.” Applejack crossed her arms as Big Mac passed them and headed down the trail. Not getting involved. Matching her sister. “It’s not fair… You guys get to stay up late and do homework later. All because Ah’m 12.” Applebloom turned around and pouted. Applejack frowned then slightly chuckled.”Well if Ah don’t.. well y’know… at least you won’t be alone in doing homework and going to bed at the right time.” Opening back her eyes into a look of shock and turned back around.“What?! No way! You will transform! Ah just know it! Come on, you got chores to do!” Completely forgetting her own little episode, and went around and started pushing her sister to the farm house. “Woah Nelly! Easy Bloom. Ah’m going, Ah’m going! What happened to not being able to do homework later!?” Applejack asked as she was being pushed. “Quiet you! You got chores to do!” Applebloom called out continuously, pushing her sister to walk down the hill. Eventually, the two sisters made it up to Granny. The old woman looked from her task, and smiled “There you two are! Mac is already on the tractor. You can take the side by side and meet him at the west fields, Applejack.” “On it Granny. Gonna change my clothes first.” She hurriedly went past her grandmother to go inside and change into her work duds. She nodded, then turned to Applebloom.”Alright lil’ yougin’ Ah’m sure you got homework to do.” Granny sweeps some of the dirt off the porch.” Ah’m gonna get started on supper. Yer favorite, Ribeye!” She chuckles “Ooo Ah love full moon suppers! Ah’ll get my homework done!” Applebloom sped past Granny, and followed her sister inside to go to her own bedroom to get started on her homework for the afternoon. Once in her bedroom, Applejack locked the door behind her, putting down her book bag on her bed, and immediately dug into her closet for her denim bibs, and a good old plain white t-shirt. After changing, she exited out of her room. She immediately smelled beef coming from the kitchen. The Apple family usually has these ‘Full moon suppers’ as they call them. Every full moon they eat some sort of meat like beef, chicken, venison, pork, or turkey for dinner. Most everyone of the Apple clan enjoyed these days, but to Applejack those were the only thing that she enjoyed on full moons. She went down the stairs and exited the screen door, and headed to the garage where the side by side was. Taking the key from the wall mounted key holder. She got into the vehicle to begin her chores for the few hours left of daylight. ____________________________________________________________________________ “Man, Ah’m tellin’ ya, Big Mac. We sure got a lot of apples today.” Put the last basket of apples that could fit into the trunk of the UTV. Whipping her brow of sweat and dirt. “Eeyep.” holding up a high five. Which was reciprocated with a cloud of dirt of the two gloves clapping together. He looked up at the sky, seeing it was close to dusk. “You better get these back to the barn, and wash up. Supper will be soon. Ah’ll get the rest.” Turning to the rest of the few full baskets that were on the ground, “You sure Big Mac?” Applejack asked “Eeyep.” he simply said, “Alright then see you at supper.” She pulled off her gloves, and put them in the passenger seat. Putting the vehicle into drive. Big Mac waved as she drove back to the barn. Where the apples can be sorted and washed out later. Applejack sighed as she exited the vehicle. As it was getting closer to dusk. She could see the moon coming into view as it got closer to being night. Whenever she was old enough to stay up with Granny Smith and Big Mac for their monthly transformations she used to be so excited, but the next 3 years of disappointing nights had passed. Honestly nothing was changing her mind about tonight being her last hiding. Applejack gently closed the barn door, and headed into the house. Getting a whiff of steak, her mouth watered. “Hey Granny, Ah’m back! Ah’m gonna wash up!” she called from the front door. “Welcome back sugarcube! Steaks are almost done! After you're finished, go check yer sister please!” Granny called back from the kitchen. “Sure Granny!” Applejack called as she was climbing up the stairs. Once she reached the upstairs bathroom , and took a quick shower to wash the dirt and grime of the day. As she dries herself off with a towel, and gets dressed in a simple shirt and shorts for tonight. Exiting the bathroom, she went over to the room at the end of the hall where Applebloom resides.” Applebloom?” She knocks on the door with a wooden decorative white and pink apple blossom. “Come in.” A muffled young voice can be heard. Applejack opened the door and then scoffed “Applebloom look at this mess!” Looking around in disbelief. Dirty laundry, toys, and papers were scattered about the room. “What? It’s not that bad..” Applebloom shrugged as she put her finished homework inside her bag. “Not that bad?!” Applejack repeated, tipping her hat back. “Ugh Applebloom…” she shook her head as she deeply sighed. “Well Ah came here to check on ya. Did you get your homework done at least?” Applejack asked, crossing her arms, leaning against the door frame. “Yep! Just finished.” Applebloom smiled, hopping off her bed. “So when Granny checks later, you’ll have it all done?” Applejack smirked “Of course! Ah promise.” Applebloom said in confidence “Good. Now clean all this up. Supper will be ready soon. Ah gotta do some math homework.” Applejack motion to the messy room. “Ugh no fair! Ah was hoping to text Sweetie and Scoots.” Applebloom complained.” Can Ah clean during the weekend?” She asked pleadingly “No can do, sugarcube. Otherwise the BO would get so bad, you’ll have to sleep in the guest room instead. Ah’m already losing’ my sense of smell just by standing’ here. Besides, if you ever want to invite Rarity and Sweetie Belle then you better have this room clean.” Applejack laughed. “You can text your friends after supper and dishes are done.” “Ughh fine..” the youngest grumbled as she picked up a dirty shirt. Applejack simply smiled and closed the door, and went to her own room. Pulling her bookbag off her bed to her desk to work on her homework. There was only silence about the room. She liked some noise to accompany her otherwise she’d probably go mad. Outside at least there were sounds of nature Applejack could have relied on. So she pulled out her phone out of her bookbag. Just about to put on some country and old pop songs. Applejack unlocked her phone to where it was still at messages. Where Rarity texted her phone number. The farm girl started thinking about the fashionista that came from Manehatten. Sure she was kind of dramatic, cared little too much about her appearance, but Applejack and the others weren’t treated like they were lesser than her like Applejack thought they would be. Rarity was kind, polite, and heck, very generous. Applejack is still shocked that Rarity would offer her to make an outfit just for buying her lunch. Then Applejack started thinking how beautiful she is. Her violet curls, her ivory white skin, her face, voice, but most of all her beautiful cobalt blue eyes that Applejack could definitely get lost in- ‘Huh?! What? No. Rarity is just a friend and you’re not attracted to women or anyone for that matter … Ah think… Whatever. Ah gotta get my homework done.’ Applejack frowned at herself. She curbed her romantic emotions, and turned on some music to focus back on her math homework, but before she could even get started. “COME AND GET IT! SOUPS ON Y’ALL!” Applejack’s grandmother called out. She sighed in both relief and frustration as she wanted to get her homework done before supper, but what can she do? Turning off her music that was playing, and then rushed out the room. Applebloom was right at her door with a smile on her face. “Time for ribeye sis! Woohoo!” Applebloom exclaimed. “Hehe yep. Time for some steak!” Applejack smiled as she watched her little sister go down the hall, and down the stairs with excitement. The older sister chuckled and followed her sister to the kitchen. Seeing her two granddaughters “There you are. You two ready to dig in?” Granny Smith said as she laid the last plate for herself, and then sat at the foot of the table as she always did. Applejack sat down at her seat “Yep, looks mighty good, Granny.” Eying the steak and mash potatoes that was in front of her. She always loved Granny’s cooking. Always homemade, and cooked with TLC. “Ah can’t wait!” Applebloom said, sitting down next to her sister. “Hey, where’s our brother?” she asked, putting her napkin on her lap. “He’s washing’ up.” Granny turned in her head towards the bathroom door. “Ya better hurry up in there, Big Mac! Yer food is getting’ cold!” She called out to her grandson. With the sounds of a toilet going off and washing of hands, a young man steps out. “Eeyep.” Mac who turned off the bathroom lights, and closed the door behind him. Went to sit across from Applejack. “Alright now we’re all here. Let’s pray. Applebloom would ya like to the honors?” Granny gently smiled and winked at the young girl. “Yes ma’am.” Applebloom waited for everyone to bow their heads, and close their eyes. Applejack took off her hat, and held it to her chest. Then she closed her eyes like her brother and grandmother. Applebloom saw everyone was ready “Dear Faust, Thank you so much for the wonderful food you blessed us with and thank you for having the opportunity for all of us to come together as a family. Oh and thank ya for blessing us with some new friends, Rarity and Sweetie Belle. Amen.” “Amen.” The rest of the family said “Let’s dig in!” Granny Smith said happily. Taking her fork, and starting cutting into her steak. looking over at her eldest granddaughter who was putting her hat back on. “So Applejack, how was your day? Ah know you made friends with that Rarity gal today. What's she like?” Applejack smiled as she thought of her interactions with the fashionista “Well she‘s nice and polite Ah guess.” She chuckled “Stubborn as a mule. Hehe For buying her lunch, Ah guess she’s making a dress for me, as she makes dresses for her business at least that's what she said.” Cutting into her steak, and taking a bite. “Well that‘s real nice of her. So she’s one of those clothes maker whatcha-ma call-its.” “Fashion designer, Granny.” Applejack gently chuckles. “Oh phooey! Same thing!” Granny replied back. The only response was an eye roll from the cowgirl. “Don’t you roll your eyes at me lil’ lady!” She mock glare, and then tilts Stetson down on Applejack’s face. Both of them laugh. Then turned to her youngest as Applejack tilted her hat back up. “So what about you Applebloom. What’s this Sweetie Belle like?” Granny asked. “She’s actually cool! She may not be cool in the way Scootaloo is, but she’s awesome. Sweetie actually stood up to Diamond Tiara unfortunately Ah guess that made Sweetie a target of her bullying..” Applejack made a quiet sigh. She knew that Diamond Tiara and her sister always had a rivalry even when they were young kids. Granny Smith sometimes had to go to Filthy- Mr.Rich and Spoiled about their daughter's behavior, but it usually fell on deaf ears as Mrs.Rich didn't care much for the Apple family despite being business partners. Mr.Rich didn’t like how his daughter behaved, but usually just went along whatever his wife wanted to keep the peace in his household. Applejack wasn’t sure how their marriage survived for so long if she was being honest. “Applebloom, Ah’m sorry Diamond bothered you and your friends again. Just try to ignore her. She ain’t worth it.” Granny said, taking a sip of her water. “Yes Granny.” Applebloom cleared her throat.” Anyway, Sweetie Belle came with a wonderful idea. We decided to make ourselves into a group. We call ourselves ‘The Canterlot Movie Makers’ or ‘CMC’ for short. The name was my idea.” Taking a bite of her mash potatoes. Applejack smiled at the idea even though the name was kind of odd. Granny beat her to the punch.”So you’re makin’ movies?” The matriarch asked. “Uhh Ah’m… Ah’m not sure. Ah couldn’t find anything that would match CMC…Maybe that would be our career path someday” The youngest said, her eyes filled with hopes and dreams. Deciding to tease her little sister a bit “Yeah as a movie monster werewolf.” Applejack chuckled as she nudged her sister with her elbow. “Hey! Y’know Ah could be an actress and Ah don’t need to be a werewolf to do that!” Applebloom glared at Applejack. Pushing her back. Starting a mini wrestling match between the two. “Alright, alright. Let’s settle down. Don’t tease your sister, Applejack.” Granny Smith lectured. “Yes Granny.” Applejack sighed as she took another bite from her plate. In the corner of her eye she can see her little sister sticking her tongue out at her. “Ah saw that..” Granny eyed Applebloom. Immediately the young girl went back to her dinner. Satisfied, she turned to her grandson.” What about you Big Mac? Did you see Sugar Belle today? “Eeyep.” “Still treating’ her like a princess?” “Hehe Eeyep.” He beamed “The Fall formal is a month away. You gonna ask her?” “ Er- Eeyep.” Big Mac nodded with a slight tint of blush. “Good!” Granny Smith beamed as she turned to her left. “Applejack, Applebloom. Got anyone in mind for the dance.” Applebloom scratched the back of her head nervously.” Well…there’s one boy Ah like ‘Tender Taps’, but Ah dunno if he likes me back.” She looked at Granny with sad eyes. Even her bow looked droopy. Applejack looked over at her sister “Oh come on, sugarcube! You’re a sweet young gal!” She said as she rubbed her sister’s head. Messing her hair up a bit.”Ah’m sure he likes ya back. Don’t you two spend time at school?” “Ah mean yeah we do. Ah do consider us friends. Heck Ah helped him with his stage fright last year for that musical.” Applebloom said, running her hand through hair fixing it back up. “Then Ah don’t see what’s the issue youngin’. Ah’m sure Tender will ask ya to the dance.” Granny Smith smiled at the youngest, and then turned her attention to her other granddaughter. “What about you Applejack? Any young buck caught your eye?” Applejack's eyes went wide a bit. Looking side to side. “Um no. No one caught my eye Granny…” taking a drink of her water. Her mind went to a few students at Canterlot High, but her mind landed on Rarity. ‘Well…She is beautiful, but she is just a friend…’ “Oh pfff! There got to be one good lookin’ kid that caught your fancy.” “Sorry Granny, but there isn’t anyone.” ‘It wasn’t really a lie..was it?’ Applejack thought to herself as she ate her steak. Granny Smith didn't press her any further so decided to move on. She remembered something important.”Ah need to check the calendar to make sure two can go to the dance.” Eying her two eldest. She got out of her chair, and went to the calendar that was on the pantry door. Rolling her eyes and sighed.”Granny. This is my last full moon hiding, remember?” Applejack asked. Granny took her eyes off of the calendar, and to her. “Applejack.. Ah still say you should give it more time honey. You could transform tonight after all.” “Yeah Applejack! Ah seriously think tonight is the night!” Applebloom said excitedly. “Eeyep. Ah think so too.” Big Mac said with a small smile. Applejack looked at each of her family members with smiles on their faces. She sighed once again and said, “Okay.. Ah somewhat think so too.” She rested her elbow on the table holding her head up. Having a small smile on her face. Granny went over and patted Applejack’s shoulder.”That’s the spirit!” She smiled,”Let’s see if you two can go..” Going back to the calendar lifted to the 2 pages to October. For what she saw, she gave a frown seeing it was a full moon on that night of the fall formal. “Applejack, Big Mac. Ah’m sorry, but you do have a full moon on that night.” Big Mac gave a frown, but didn’t say anything. Applejack knew he was upset. Being a werewolf always had its pros and cons, but then she remembered the countermeasures that could be taken to prohibit transformation. “But Granny.. Can Mac wear the silver bracelet?” She asked while raising her fist and pointed to her wrist with her other hand. Big Mac looked at Granny. He didn’t show much emotion, but Applejack could see there was hope in his eyes. Granny thought for a bit. “Well he can..” Big Mac smiled “But remember. It isn’t healthy to keep your wolf inside all the time. You’ll know what will happen.” Big Mac, Applejack, and Applebloom frowned. They had heard stories of past members of the Apple Clan losing themselves if they had their wolf bottled up every full moon coming around with the useful but dangerous silver bracelet. The bracelet only has so much power. If the wearer doesn’t transform at all for at least 3 months or more. They would lose themselves to their animal side completely, and they wouldn’t know of their actions. That’s where humans get the horror stories of werewolves from. “But one night wouldn’t hurt.” Granny gave back a smile to her grandchildren. Big Mac smiled. He was back to looking forward to asking Sugar Belle to the dance. Granny went to her seat and sat back down.”Reminds me of when your grandfather took me to the Fall formal.” She placed her napkin back onto her lap. Applejack looked over to a picture on the wall of her late grandfather, Papaw Applejack and Granny Smith looking at each other in their best Sunday clothes. Whom she was named after. The yellowish man in the photo was a balding older man with a dark red grayish mustache. Who was wearing the same hat that was on her head. Both him and her father looked so similar to each other. According to Granny. He was a very sweet and caring man. He was so looking forward to grandkids as her mother was pregnant with Big Mac at that time. It’s sad that none of the Apple siblings got to meet him as he died a little bit after her parent’s wedding in a tractor accident. “Wait, Ah thought you weren’t able to go with Papaw.” Applebloom gave a confused look. “Oh yeah Ah didn’t, but Ah never told ya why Ah didn’t go. Now did Ah?” The older woman smirked. “Huh. Ah don’t think you ever did Granny.” Applejack commented.”Why didn’t you go?” The farm girl asked “That’s because your papaw discovered a little something about me that night” With her orange eyes glowed, An aura of the same color surrounded her, and shifted to her half-wolf form. Her ears, teeth, and nails sharpen. Fur grew on her arms and legs. Her voice sounded a little raspier than before.”Let’s just say your great granny wasn’t paying attention to the moon cycle.” she chuckled once she finished. “You changed in front of Papaw!?” Applebloom exclaimed. “Yep and it wasn’t in this way either.” Granny gestures to herself. “Don’t want to rip my clothes tho right now.” “How did he take it?” Applejack asked curiously. “Well he fainted faster than a bullwhip crack Ah tell ya’s. Never seen a man faint like that hard before.” She laughed then her expression changed into a frown. “When he came around. Ah explained everything to him..” “You explai-, but Granny ain’t that against the rules?” Applejack asked. Big Mac leaned in to hear her answer curiously. “Yes and once Ah finished. He went away and ignored me for quite a bit. My hide got tanned by my ma and pa.” Granny Smith gave back a smile. “Luckily he came back, and we made amends. We dated for a bit then we got married after graduating high school.” “That quick?” Applebloom asked “Ah thought you said we should wait for dating til we’re in our 30s” all of the siblings laugh. “Well! Back in my day, everybody was getting’ married!” Narrowing her eyes to her grandchildren “And you’re right none of ya should be datin’ right now. Do it when Ah’m dead and buried.” That made the siblings laugh harder. After a few moments of laughter, Applejack wiped a tear out of the corner of her eye, and calmed herself down. “Wait, Ah do have a question Granny. When should you tell your partner about being a werewolf anyway?” Granny shifted back to her human form. Her voice returned to normal. She put her hand under her chin”Well most of the family agrees that you tell it after marriage..” “Huh? But isn’t that like lying? Ah thought we Apples strive to be honest with folks.” Applejack said. “Ah agree with ya whole heartedly Applejack but it’s a family secret, and it should only be in the family. Ah got pretty lucky, but some members had to move because some folks threatened their lives just because of what we are. You 3 have to be very careful of who you choose to spend the rest of your life with.” Granny explained gently. “Yes Granny.” The Apple sisters said in unison. “Eeyep.” The Apple brother said. “Good.” Granny smiled gently. She looked up at the clock. The handles were pointing at 8:24. Then she looked at everyone’s empty plates. “Alright youngins. We have about an hour left before we gotta head to the cellar. Applebloom, is your homework done?” “Yep!” Applebloom smiled “Ah’ll check it in the morning. You’re on dish duty tonight.” The youngest nodded, and went around the table gathering all the dishes to be washed. “Applejack, Big Mac, Ah’m sure you got homework to do. Make sure you get that done.” “Yes Granny.” Both the eldest Apple siblings said getting up from their seats… ____________________________________________________________________________ Applejack sighed heavily, laying back in her desk chair. She finally got the algebra assignment finished. She really disliked math. At least basic math would actually help in life, especially work on an apple farm. ‘If you really want to be a math genius, and find out the stupidest ways to solve a math problem then go to college. Ah still say letter’s don’t belong in math. How about instead we learn how to do our taxes?,’ she complained in her mind. She looked over her shoulder at her rooster alarm clock. ‘9:48’ it read. Any minute now, she would hear her grandmother call her downstairs to hide in the cellar again, just to be disappointed. She honestly had no doubt she wouldn’t transform. Applejack knows that her family means well when they try to give her encouragement, but it doesn't make it any less disappointing when another full moon passes by while her brother, grandmother, and the rest of the Apple family transform while she is stuck being human. She knows it’s no one’s fault, but she can’t help herself to be envious. It makes her feel like a disappointment to the Apple clan. Obviously to any normal person being a werewolf would sound mostly a curse and should be grateful to be human, but to Applejack and the rest of the Apple family, it’s a rite of passage. A pup growing into a wolf so to speak. She sighed, deciding to put her homework back in her bag for tomorrow before she forgets. Her grades were average as she wasn’t as brilliant as Twilight or Sunset, but she can hold her own just enough to get by. Then she remembered the talk she had with Rainbow earlier today. ‘Heh Ah still say Rainbow needs to ask Twi-‘ “APPLEJACK! BIG MAC! It’s time!” Granny called out. The farm girl looked out her window. Where the full moon is almost high enough. Turning around, she looked at her father’s hat that was hanging on a coat peg next to her door on the wall. “Maybe tonight?” She asked herself. “Applejack!” Granny again called out. “Coming!” She quickly exited her room, and went down the stairs. Where she sees Granny and Big Mac who both had changed into disposable clothes such as simple shirts and shorts. While they were talking to Applebloom who was now in her apple printed yellow pajamas. Who had a bit of a pout in her face. “Alright youngins it's time to say goodnight to Applebloom.” Granny said once Applejack reached the bottom of the staircase. “It’s not fair! Ah wanna stay up with you guys!” Applebloom wined “If the weekend then Ah wouldn’t have an issue, but on a school night? You must be out of yer mind!” Granny chuckled. “But Ah wanna see Applejack transform!” Applebloom explained. Applejack gave a nervous smile “Heh you say that very full moon Applebloom.” “But Sis!-“ “No buts missy! Mind Granny now. We got school in the morning.” Applejack took her sister by the shoulder and led her to the stairs. Applebloom frowned sadly, but then a devilish smile went upon her face as she knew one of Applejack’s weaknesses. So she gave her the best puppy dog eyes look. Her bow went all droopy to sell it home. She knew her big sister could never resist that adorable face. ‘Ugh not that face…’ Applejack looked for back up from her grandmother and brother. Granny had an amusement grin on her face. While her brother was just whistling, looking elsewhere. She sighed deeply. “Look AB..”Applebloom perked up “Ah’ll tell you what? If Ah transform, Ah’ll visit your room for a moment. Whadda ya say?” “Hmm Okay… You promise?” “Ah promise.” “Pinkie Promise?” “Pinkie Promise.” “Do the whole promise. Pinkie Pie knows if you don’t do it” Applebloom said. Applejack rolled her eyes and obliged. “Cross my heart, Hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye.” Did all the motions related. Applebloom smiles in satisfaction. “Goodnight y'all! Love you!” she waved, and stepped on the steps of the stairs. “Love you too Goodnight Applebloom!” The rest of the family called out. The youngest took one last look and went up the stairs. “Y’know once she turns. Then you really wouldn’t be able to resist.” She chuckled at Applejack who only rolled her eyes. Then Granny took hold of her other grandchildren by their shoulders. “Come on time to get to the cellar.” Opening the door that leads to the basement. Applejack pulled out her red hair tie from her hair. Putting it on the small table that was next to Granny’s recliner. Her brother gestures towards the door with a wink and small grin. Applejack gave a small smile back as she went past him, her smile melted into a frown as she went down the stairs. Looking up to find her grandmother watching her. Glaring at her as she came down “Ah know those eyes..” Reaching the bottom. There were two doors in the small room, one was a regular wooden door that led to another bathroom. The other was a metal door that slides instead of open. “What eyes? These are the same eyes Ah was born with. Same eyes as my pa’s.” Applejack crossed her arms. Big Mac right behind her. “Yes you got dem green ol’ eyes, but Ah see doubt in ‘em.” Granny turned and slid open the heavy duty door. With a flash of green and an angry glare “OF COURSE AH-“ She stopped herself. Her Granny turned to her with an emotionless expression. Applejack knew better than to give in to her anger when talking to her grandmother. She took a deep breath “Sorry Granny…Yes Ah have.. my doubts about tonight.” Granny smiled.”No harm done sweetie, but Ah understand. Ah may not be a late bloomer like ya, but Ah knows what it’s like to be frustrated with the transformation blues.” She motioned her head towards the cellar. Applejack didn’t say anything and entered the cellar or ‘The Den’ They called it. Flipping on the light switch that was next to the door. The room was semi illuminated in a warm yellowish color. Bright enough to see, but dark enough to feel cozy. The floor was covered in a sheet of dirt where old tracks can be seen. In a little corner of the large room, was an grandfather clock and old sofa chair that had been through a lot over the years with the scratches on it, but was still sturdy enough to be sat on. Next to it was a bookcase with a few secret photo albums that never left the safety of the cellar. Another corner was an old wooden bunk bed that Big Mac and Applejack shared when they were little kids. At the back wall had a few large logs and a layer of dirt, leaves, sticks, or rocks. The Den was the perfect hiding place for a werewolf to be on the night of the full moon. Applejack went over to the bunk bed and sat down on the bottom bunk. Granny entered and sat in the old chair. Big Mac who was last to come in. Turned and slid the door shut behind him, and then sat down on a log. Looking over at the grandfather clock it was only a few minutes till 10.”Applejack?” Big Mac said, looking over at his sister. Startled a bit. Looking back at her brother.”Yes Big Mac?” “Ah still believe you can do it, but If not, you will always be my sister no matter what you may or may not turn into.” The almost silent brother said. “…Thanks.. Mac” Applejack said Both siblings exchanged smiles with each other. Granny Smith smiled at her two grandkids. “Oh!” Startling her, The grandfather clock started charming with those 10 bells. 1 bell rang 2 bells rang 3 bells rang 4 bells rang 5 bells rang 6 bells rang 7 bells rang 8 bells rang 9 bells rang 10 bells rang… Green and orange eyes started to glow. A green aura surrounded Big Mac while Granny Smith was surrounded by an orange aura.. Clothes ripping, bones cracking and lengthening, fur growing, tails appearing. Ears, teeth, and claws sharpening. Once the auras disappeared, instead of a young man and an older woman there in their place were two bipedal wolves. The green werewolf stretched her arms and shoulders place with a few pops, and sighed in her relief “Oh that feels so much better. Ah tells ya nothing better than a good o’ transformation for your back.” The red one nodded in agreement “Eeyep.” Big Mac doing the same with his limbs. He looked at his sister, hoping to see another werewolf in their midst, but instead was a human. A simple normal looking human teenage girl. Who was looking at her hands and arms. His ears went back slightly. “Oh Applejack…” Granny Smith gently said. Hearing Granny, Applejack looked up from her limbs to both of them. She could recognize some human qualities that still stuck with them such as Mac’s freckles. She looked at them both in great detail. Big Mac was taller than before. His usual height of 6,3 was now 6,8. As most werewolves usually have their height extended when they change into their wolf form. He had a shaggy red fur coat safe for his back and arms that matched his spiky orange bangs that reached down back and to his short tail. Unlike his grandmother who had a black nose, he had a brown nose that blended in with his red coat like Winona’s. Being an older werewolf, Granny Smith had a few traits that most elders had such as floppy ears, doglike whiskers, and graying around her face, but despite that her body can get around a lot better then her human form can. Her main fur color was a light green. The only markings she had was a snow white chest, belly, and tail. Her white hair bun still held neatly to the back of her head. The only thing that female werewolves don’t have in their transformation is their breasts so movements wouldn’t be restricted. They only stay in the transformation due to pregnancy and after the child is born for a year or so. Applejack decided to get up from her seat and went over to the door.”Welp, Ah’m gonna let you guys have a good moonlight stroll. Goodnight y’all. Love you.” Big Mac stood up. Picking up pieces of his torn clothes. Went over to his sister. Pulled her into a great big hug. “Oof! Ah’m fine Mac!” her voice was muffled by the chest full of fur. Big Mac shook his head. “Eenope.” He said sadly. He knew his little sister all too well, and he knew when she was trying to hide her true feelings. Applejack huffed and turned her head so she could breathe again. “Seriously Ah’m fine.” Looking up to her brother. Granny Smith eased out of her chair with her own torn clothes, and went over to the two. “Applejack, Ah’m sorry it isn’t the night.” She rested a gentle paw on Applejack’s shoulder. “But there is always next time.” Getting extremely tired of hearing that over and over again, but Applejack manages to keep herself calm and collected. “Granny, Ah’m fine. Just disappointed as usual. At least it’s my last night hiding so Ah won’t get my hopes up about it anymore. Ah’ll just be a human with some wolf-like abilities. Besides this could be good for business. Like if you need to do deliveries on a full moon. Ah can do them instead.” Big Mac eventually let go of her as she continued talking. “Ah’m just gonna look at the bright side of things about it, and move on now. Ah’m just gonna try to be the best Apple Ah can be. whether be a werewolf or a human..Alright?” She looked at both of them. Giving a small smile. Granny looked at her grandson and went back to Applejack. ”Alright sugarcube. Are you sure you don’t want to join us honey? A stroll might do ya some good.” “Ah’m sure. Ah’m plumb tuckered out from chores and homework.” She slid open the door.”Goodnight and love you…” Applejack said as she was going up the basement stairwell. “Goodnight and love you too.” Big Mac and Granny said in unison. Applejack silently went to the upstairs hallway. She heard the sound of the front door opening and closing. She stepped into the bathroom, and flipped on the light. Applejack decided to sleep in what she had on. She took her own toothbrush and toothpaste. As if she already had a rough night. There was barely any left. She sighed and tried to squeeze what was left onto her toothbrush. Wetted the bristles and brushed her teeth. While doing so, she looked into the mirror. Sure the girl in front of her seemed optimistic, but behind those green eyes she felt like such a failure. Applejack had depression. There was no other way of describing it. Right now there are so many things going through her head at the moment. Her parents, her family, no wolf form, school, college or lack thereof, running the farm, coming into adulthood, being a good sibling or friend, or figuring out who she liked. Just so many things that created a lot of stress that rested on her shoulders. Spat out the toothpaste, and washed out her mouth. Applejack looked back at the mirror once more and sighs. She tears her view away from it, exits the bathroom, and goes into her room. Shutting the door behind her. Getting under the covers. As she turned on her alarm for the next morning. A sudden deep loud howl rang out and shook Applejack to her core. Covering her ears as her hearing was hurting her. “Ugh! Not necessary, Big Mac!” she semi yelled in annoyance and jealousy. She grabbed her covers, and wrapped them around herself. She now felt guilty for being jealous of her brother. Not wanting to dwell on those thoughts. Applejack shook her head, and decided to get some sleep. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day, Laid her head down, and closed her eyes. Finally drifting off to sleep… ____________________________________________________________________________ Big Mac, Applebloom! Breakfast! Applejack groaned as she didn’t want to get up. She opened her eyes. She blinked a few times to sharpen her focus. What she saw confused her. She saw a cardboard box. Which was definitely not there last night. She lifted herself up, and noticed the bed she was on. Did not have any blankets or covers. All it was an empty mattress. She looked around. She saw more cardboard boxes around the room. All her stuff seemed to be missing. She got up from the bed, and went to one of the boxes, and opened it. Looking inside, and was shocked to find it was some of her things. Such as her alarm clock, her old stuffed dog, a couple of books, and ribbons. She took a whiff in the air. It was breakfast time. She looked at her bedroom door. Applejack exited out of her room and strolled down the stairs. She passed the living room, and went into the kitchen. “Granny?” The older woman in question looked back at Applejack in a shock expression, then her expression melted into a scowl, and turned back around to resume her cooking. That very much shocked her. “Granny? Is something wrong?” She had never seen Granny look so angry before. Ignoring her completely “Big Mac, Applebloom breakfast is ready!” Granny said, laying out only three plates, and sitting down afterwards at her usual place at the table. Her siblings entered the kitchen. When Big Mac and Applebloom saw Applejack standing there, they repeated Granny’s expressions, and went to their seats without a word. Big Mac sat where Applejack usually sits, and Applebloom sits next to Granny. “Huh?” Scratching her head confused and concerned. Why were they acting like that? Applejack decided to try again. “Granny, is something the matter?” She walked a bit closer to the table. Granny taking a sip of her coffee ignoring her once again. Then turned to her youngest with a smile “So Applebloom you ready for tonight. Your first transformation!” Applebloom looked at Big Mac and Granny with a great smile back “Yes ma’am! Ah can’t wait!” “Transformation?” Applejack asked. The other people in the room turned to glare at her. “T-that’s great Applebloom.” She nervously smiled rubbing the back of her neck. But in the back of her mind. She knew that didn’t make any sense. Applebloom was still too young to transform. It only starts around the ages of 14 to 17. Most prominent years being 15 to 16. Applebloom rolled her eyes and muttered “Thanks” as she stabbed her scrambled eggs with her fork, and brought it to her mouth to take a bite. Applejack sighed in relief for only a moment. ‘Okay so they're not totally ignoring me.’ She tried to find her words carefully. She had her hands behind her back. “Okay have Ah done something wrong? Why are y’all ignoring me, and why are my things in boxes? Just tell me please.” She asked pleadingly. It was a strange situation. When Granny or Big Mac were upset with anyone else for whatever reason they would be direct about it as to why they would be upset with a person. Only one would give the silent treatment was Applebloom, but that’s mostly due to maturity. Granny Smith swallowed her eggs and then asked calmly but sternly. “Applejack… Can you transform? Can the magic go through you so you can connect with nature, and help our apple trees grow?” “…No..Ah can’t.” Applejack looked down at her feet. “Then what good are you to us?” Granny Smith asked. “Ah’m sorry Applejack, but we don’t have room for mutants in the family.” She spat with venom. “ Your cousin, Breburn, is moving into your room. You can do whatever with your stuff. Ah don’t care, but you’re definitely not welcome here!” As she continued to talk she was getting more and more aggressive with her wording. Applejack was taken aback of what her grandmother had said.“Ah…” She just couldn’t find the words at first. As hurt as she was, she couldn’t bring herself to lash out. Not yet. She felt tears welding up in her eyes. “So Ah can’t transform.. is that it? Is that why you’re kicking me out?” Her voice was shaking at this point. Crack Everyone turned to look at Big Mac, who had a cracked white ceramic mug in his hand. Droplets of blood were leaking from his palm, and onto the table. His hand had half shifted in anger. Red fur covered his arm. “You should know that other reason…” Standing up from his seat. Mac turned to glare at his sister with red glowing eyes. Applejack felt fear with that. She took a step back. “A-Ah don’t..” she trailed off. “December 23rd 2007” He said sternly. He continued to shift into his half wolf form. Applejack softly gasped, looked down, and closed her eyes. She knew that that date represented. That was the day that Big Mac, Applejack, and Applebloom lost their mother and father in a tragic car accident. Applebloom was only a few months old when it happened. Applejack was 5 years of age. While Big Mac—or Little Mac at the time was 6. It was no one’s fault really. That day was particularly cold, windy, and snowy. Patches of ice we’re still on roads where the salt trucks haven’t been that afternoon. Applejack was in the backseat of the car with her stuffed dog that she got as an early Christmas present. Buttercup, her mother and Bright Macintosh, her father, thought it would be nice to do some last Christmas shopping as lately Applejack felt being left out due to the new baby. Granny Smith volunteered to babysit Applebloom while Little Mac went to his Cub Scouts Christmas party. So it was just Applejack and her parents on a peaceful afternoon drive. That was until the tires started to slip on the ice, gaining no traction. Young Applejack started getting nervous. She hugged her dog, and began to whimper as her stomach turned from of the movement of the car. Buttercup reached from the passenger seat to take hold of her daughter’s hand to reassure her that everything will be okay. Bright Mac must have shouted something, and then her mother, out of pure motherly instinct, shifted and leaped towards the back seat to protect her daughter from the upcoming tree— Crash! Applejack couldn’t remember much of what happened afterwards. Either she was knocked unconscious or her brain reused to remember the trauma. All she remembers is waking up in the hospital with a white cast on her arm, and a white bandage on her cheek where glass had cut it. A few days after getting out of the hospital. She was in a little black dress in front of two coffins being lowered into the ground somewhere on Sweet Apple Acres… The teenage girl looked up to see her older brother in full wolf form. His eyes glowed a blood red. His teeth were bared. In a raspy voice. “Applejack… you were the reason my parents aren’t around anymore. If you hadn't been around my parents would be alive… “He growled as the wind picked up from somewhere. “Ah honestly wish you were the one that died in the accident. At least we wouldn’t have lost them, and now you can’t even transform. You’re no Apple… You are just a disgrace and a disappointment to the family!” He yelled at the top of his lungs. The wind got so bad that the backdoor opened up revealing only a black void. Tears were running from her eyes to her ears as the wind was blowing hard. It had gotten so bad that Applejack was sliding backwards now. “Wait please!! Ah.. Ah’m sorry!!” She struggled to keep her stance up. Finally was pushed into the void by an invisible force. The only thing she saw was her family with glowing red eyes staring daggers at her. Then the door slammed with a loud boom- End of Chapter 2
