I crossed my arms as I leaned against my locker, listening to Rainbow rant again about the upcoming Friendship Games. In all honesty, I’m just in it to raise hell and break the status quo. What better way than to beat our asshole rivals?
“Did you see me out there?” Rainbow grinned and slammed her locker as I jumped. “The entire school was hype as fuck. It’s kinda cool to see us all banding together to kick the Shadowdolts asses!”
“I wouldn’t necessarily state it like that but yes I concur darling,” Rarity agreed and we all looked around at our classmates giving us thumbs up. “Especially with us all on the team along with Trixie, Lyra, Bon Bon, Flash, Sandalwood and Derpy, we’re pretty much a what’s it called? A powerhouse?”
“That’s it,” I confirmed and nodded. “While I may not have been interested before, I definitely am now. But we gotta keep magic out of this. We don’t want to be called cheaters and them not thinking we truly won fair and damn square.”
Rainbow nodded with a smirk and I rolled my eyes, knowing she wasn’t listening. As much as I love that girl like family, her ego was massive and definitely got to her head at times. I’d just remind her later and pray to every God Applejack managed to keep her reined in. Because I might not be able to.
I tucked my math book under my arm and with a sigh, I went on my way to my most boring class of all time. I hoped to God I didn’t dream of equations and calculus when I slept tonight. Let me tell ya, sleeping and dreaming of fucking math is the worst God damn thing ever. It’s like your mom hearing you have a wet dream about a crush and confront you about it the next morning.
I won’t confirm if I’m speaking from experience or not. That I’m gonna be leaving entirely up to you all.
I stepped into my classroom and snuck to my seat quietly next to an already snoring Flash and I rolled my eyes before nudging him with a boot.
“Wake up Sleeping Beauty,” I taunted with a playful grin as a few classmates laughed. “It’s time for class.”
“Gee thanks for that,” Flash scoffed and yawned behind a hand.
“You’re welcome,” I commented and clicked my pen.
“Are you ready for this math test?” Flash asked and I froze, giving him a worried look. I hadn’t heard anything about a math test but Miss Cheerilee did like springing surprise tests on us all from time to time to test us.
“What test?” I demanded after a moment of silence.
“Oh there’s no test I just wanted to screw with you for waking me,” Flash said casually and I heard Strawberry snickering behind me.
“That was fucked up and you fucking know it.”
I ignored Flash laughing and rolled my eyes with a smile. I’m surrounded by morons.
I plopped down on Fluttershy’s bed as she let out an eep before she went back to her homework as I gave a sigh.
“Long day?” Fluttershy asked as she briefly watched Rainbow and Applejack playing a video game at the foot of her bed.
“You have no idea,” I groaned and stretched out on the bed next to her. “I’m surprised you’re hosting this time around. I thought Pinkie was this week.”
“Pinkie had to pick up a shift at work for Doo Wop who is sick today,” Rainbow called out with a grumbled signifying she had lost her game. “Something about party cannons and being expensive I think?”
“I’m gonna take her word on that one,” I mused and cracked my neck. “How does the Friendship Games even work really? Do we go to different schools or is it always between Canterlot High and Crystal Prep?”
“Always between us two. We were at their school four years ago when we were in eighth grade. And yeah, we obviously lost then but we are gonna win this year. Make those stupid Shadowdolts regret every coming onto our turf,” Rainbow said as she clenched her fist. “Even Octavia is all for it and she doesn’t even really do sports. Trixie is scarily on board too. She hates them just as much as we do.”
“Glad we can all bond together over mutual hatred of someone that isn’t me,” I commented dryly as they all gave nervous chuckles. “I’m kidding, relax. But yeah, it’s kinda nice to see everyone teaming up for this. The Illusions are working with everyone fairly well with minor arguments and Pixel Pizzazz is somehow keeping Photo Finish is check. Surprisingly.”
“Shocker.”
Photo Finish was always a bit aggressive about taking pictures. Just last week she and the other two Snapshots had cornered me in the classroom to get my picture taken. And she had taken about ninety in the span of thirty five seconds. Talk about annoying the hell outta me. I’d never wanted to shove someone out of my way as much as I did then. Talk about getting in my personal space.
“I have a weird feeling about the Friendship Games,” I said suddenly and they all looked at me curiously.
“Is this some sorta pony thing ya are referencing?” Applejack asked and rolled her hand in the air. “Because if so, Ah thought we were keeping magic away from the Games like you and VP Luna wanted.”
“No this isn’t. You know that feeling in your gut when you can’t help but feel like something bad is about to happen and there’s nothing you can do about it?” I asked and they looked at each other before nodding slowly.
“Yeah I do,” Fluttershy agreed after a moment. “I get like that all the time. And every time I’ve been right so trust your gut. What do you think will happen that’s bad at the Games?”
“Do we lose?” Rainbow asked worriedly as she and the others continued staring at me. I only wish I could answer all there questions. All I know is I felt like some bad shit was gonna go down and no matter how hard we tried to stop it, we wouldn’t be able to do so. Maybe this is some unicorn magic unknowingly telling me to get ready. Who knows? Because I sure as hell don’t. All I can hope is that it’s something we can easily resolve without it getting way out of hand. And beat those who are our rivals for life.
But I was gonna quickly find out how wrong things were going to go during these Games. Some days, I really hate being right all the damn time.
