Why did it not work?

Spike walked up to the Carousal Boutique and rang the doorbell. Rarity called out "One moment!" " Okay!" Spike called gleefully. Rarity opened up the door. "What may I do for you Spike?" she asked kindly. "Would you like some cupcakes I made? They are your favorite flavor, Daisy." Spike responded. "Oh! Thank you I wish I could take them but I can't because I'm going on a date with Prince Blueblood!"  she said sadly. "Oh, okay." Spike said letting all his hope flutter away.
