Chris Levitated several objects around the table in the mess hall, Starla sat in the center of the table giggling in delight and Mia and her boyfriend sat across from Chris looking at the objects floating around them in a clockwise rotation. Among the objects was an hourglass which Chris manipulated the sand inside despite the position it floated in, an oriental metal puzzle that Chris was working on solving, and a glob of clay that was slowly being kneaded and shaped.
Mia and her boyfriend clapped as they watched the little show Chris put on. Starla giggled and clapped her hooves together and every so often would reach for one of the objects which would float just out of her reach causing another giggle from her. Colgate was busy in the kitchen preparing food, smiling as she heard the commotion in the dining area.
Mia smirked as she threw little origami figures into the air which Chris caught and added to her performance. “You certainly have improved Chris. Can you do anything else for us?”
Chris thought for a moment before nodding and her horn grew slightly brighter before an orb of light appeared in the center above Starla’s head. Starla took interest in the orb and tried to grab it with her forelegs and bite it to no avail, causing everyone around the table to laugh.
Tia’s boyfriend studied the orb with great interest before he spoke up. “Can you manipulate that orb, more than just moving it around? Light change the light density, color, and visibility spectrum?”
Chris chuckled sheepishly remembering her overcharge incident with it before. “Y-yeah. I can show you later outside and away from everyone one thing I figured out but otherwise yeah, I have figured out how to change its color as well as dim or brighten it.
He nodded and smirked. Oh, then I have something I would like you to try later. There is a test area to teach and instruct recruits on how to identify certain materials and chemicals some of which can be identified using certain types of light. I would like to see if you can modify your light can be altered to have the same effect.
Chris smiled and nodded. “Sure, that could be useful in the future.
Everyone settled down as Colgate arrived placing trays of food on the table along with several bowls and piles of vegetables. “Who would like a salad with their dinner?” She asked causing everyone to look at what Colgate had brought in confusion before raising hooves and hands.
Mia’s boyfriend was the one to voice everyone’s questions. “Where is the sal-” As he spoke Colgate raised a knife in her magic and smirked. “-ad… what the?” Before anyone could blink a bowl of salad was suddenly in front of each person. “How?” Mia’s boyfriend noticed the vegetables Colgate brought were just scraps now.
Chris bowed to Colgate. “You win Colgate. I lack the spells to compete against you and time.”
Mia sat there confused but her boyfriend’s eyes shot open in realization. “I don’t want to get on this gal's bad side. There is no way to defend yourself if she goes rogue.” Mia gave him a confused look in response but didn’t push the subject.
