It went without saying that Discord hated normal.
He just didn’t see the point of it all. To hold back and pretend to be mundane and plain seemed so...pointless. He didn’t understand why anyone would be okay with stagnation and boredom. To live a day, or even an hour where one could predict exactly how it would unfold. No surprises or chaos, just...predictable normality. There was very little that he could hate more than that. Which made it all the more impressive that he agreed, just for one evening, to be normal. Or at the very least, resist the urge to cover every building he sees in polka dots.
Had it been anyone else, he would have dropped them in a vat of grape jelly just for SUGGESTING such a thing. But no, that would go against Fluttershy’s wishes. Tonight would be “just a nice, simple date,” just like Fluttershy wanted. The quiet pegasus made her request and she asked so nicely with that beautiful voice of hers. Words spoken by her always sounded so delicate and gentle. Discord couldn’t say no.
So tonight would be exactly that. Tonight would be simple. Tonight would be mundane.
To get ready for the date, Discord had to dig deep into his wardrobe, avoiding the chaotic costumes and the obnoxiously colored clothes to find the best outfit for their “nice and simple” date. He dressed up in a tailored suit, elegant and refined and made of the finest midnight blue fabric; an expertly pressed shirt, white and immaculate; and a pale yellow silk bow tie expertly tied around his neck. Completing the ensemble was a suave top hat, perched confidently upon his head while a yellow satin ribbon encircled its base. In one hand he held a sleek ebony cane, banal and boring in its design, but elegant in its mundanity and tastefully adorned with an intricate silver design etched into the handle. As he assembled his outfit in front of the full body funhouse mirror that twisted his reflection in hilarious and exaggerated ways, he knew he achieved his goal. Nice and simple.
When he arrived at Fluttershy’s cottage to pick her up for the evening, the quiet, yellow pegasus dazzled him with her outfit for the evening. It consisted of a dress made of a luxurious lavender satin, draped gracefully over her figure with its gentle form. Delicate embroidery decorated the bodice, shimmering with tiny glass gemstones that twinkled in the light while a flowing skirt cascaded down in gentle waves, creating a mesmerizing display of movement. Her hooves were slipped into a set of white silk stockings and stylish black pumps. Her pink mane, normally loose and free flowing, was bundled up in a fancy bun for the night with a rose gold tiara perched on her forehead. She really did everything in her power to appear as fancy as she could. Almost like a pretty princess in Discord’s eyes.
Tonight he treated Fluttershy to dinner at one of the fanciest places in town. Le Poney d'argent prided itself in all those fancy things that fancy restaurants prided themselves in. High class service, and big, flashy titles and prestigious reviews that...to be perfectly honest bored Discord to tears. It was something about stars at least, he was sure of that.
Despite his disinterest in it all, even Discord could recognize the impressive lengths the fancy restaurant went through to tend to its customers the moment the two entered. The air was filled with a symphony of enticing aromas, a harmonious blend of savory spices and delicate fragrances so incredibly expensive it felt like you had to pay just to smell them. Dancing in the air with the song of smells was music played by a small string quartet accompanied by a grand piano in the corner. Soft, warm lighting cast a gentle glow over the elegantly arranged tables, creating an ambiance of refined intimacy. The walls were adorned with expensive and ornately carved wood panels with the occasional fine art of some well trimmed Canterlot garden to add a splash of color to the sea of browns and earth tones.
The waitstaff, dressed in impeccably tailored uniforms, moved gracefully between the tables, their attentive presence adding to the seamless service that satisfied a customer’s every need. Each plate that emerged from the kitchen was a work of art, meticulously presented with precision and flair. The delicate clinking of silverware against fine china resonated over the quiet atmosphere, accompanied by the quiet chatter of prim and proper ponies. It seemed, even to Discord’s uncaring eye, that every element was thoughtfully orchestrated to create an unforgettable experience of fine dining.
Waiting at the entrance to greet the pair was an older blue unicorn stallion standing behind a podium made of a dark wood. He was well dressed and as straight laced as the thin mustache that floated on his top lip. Just as elegantly dressed as the rest of the waitstaff, this stallion managed to carry himself in a most head-host sort of way with the confidence that working in this position could bring. This confidence, however, was immediately shaken to its core the moment he saw Discord walking in.
Looking up from the podium, the stallion - whose name was Silk Ribbon if Discord cared enough to ask - expected nothing more than a typical couple coming in to be seated for a typical meal. Instead what he saw was a quiet mare charmingly transformed by her attempt at formal evening attire accompanied by...trouble. Discord looked like he was up to no good even under all those fancy clothes. For a moment Silk Ribbon's poise quivered before he gulped and straightened up behind the podium. “D-do you...have a reservation for this evening?” he ventured with the usual line, as he silently hoped that this imminent disaster could be turned away at the door.
“Table for two,” Discord grinned with an exaggerated bow, “I believe you’ll find us under Reginald Whimsington?”
“Oh...” was all the classy unicorn could say as his eyes peered downward at the open book in front of him. There was a moment of refined panic in Silk Ribbon’s eyes before he cleared his throat and looked back up at the draconequus. “Yes Mister...Whimsington, right this way...”
Grabbing some menus and putting on a brave face, Silk Ribbon ushered the couple deeper into his restaurant. He tried suppressing the torrent of emotions that were bubbling in his chest as he led the pair to their table. He just hoped nothing bad would happen. No, he begged that nothing bad would happen. Please please don’t let anything bad happen, he screamed in his head.
The table was set for two with impeccably clean table settings that gleamed in the flickering candlelight. Even the crisp, embroidered linens that covered the tabletop exuded a sense of pristine elegance. The seats were just as fancy and indulgent as the rest of the restaurant with plush, egg shell white cushions.
“Your...waiter will be right with you,” Silk Ribbon said with a bow. It was a gesture and a line he had likely played out a thousand times as maitre d’, but this time he seemed to rush it in any way he could just so he could get out of the area as quickly as possible. Once he parted ways with the couple, he made a hurried walk straight for the kitchen, the only safe haven he could think to hide in.
As Discord and Fluttershy settled in and browsed the menus filled with fancy, curly type, activity around them started to shift. The once refined and elegant atmosphere grew tense as their presence started to attract attention. It wasn’t that seeing the two enjoying a fancy meal wasn’t allowed or broke some sort of social rule, it just got a lot of ponies worried. Worried that at any moment their fine china could start dancing on the tables or the building would suddenly start floating in the air.
Other diners who were in the middle of their meal or enjoying a lovely sobremesa found themselves cutting their own plans short so that they could leave the restaurant before things got...chaotic. New arrivals stopped at the door when they spotted the lanky draconequus across the way and politely made plans elsewhere. Even the wait staff, normally at the customers’ beckoning call, did their best to avoid the table all together except on those rare occasions when they absolutely had no choice to walk past the pair. Unbeknownst to the dating couple, the activity in the restaurant had noticeably slumped.
It was several minutes later before their waiter for the evening showed up at their table. It was a young, auburn furred earth pony who was thrusted over to the table as an unwilling sacrifice to the impending chaos. To say the waiter was nervous or flighty or skittish would miss a perfect opportunity to use the word “skittanxious”. Springbloom was most certainly skittanxious. He practically oozed skittanxiousness. If one had to look for an example of skittanxiousness to properly document the word, Springbloom would be Figure A. His steps were jittery, his breath like a hunted squirrel. He impulsively tugged at his vest as he stumbled his way over to their table. Fluttershy couldn’t help but feel sympathetic toward the young pony.
“G-good e-e-evening,” he stammered out as he fumbled for his pen.
Saying Springbloom was out of his depth was an understatement. Having held this position for a mere two months, he found himself facing his greatest challenge yet. Discord. Memorizing wine vintage lists and navigating complex table arrangements were NOTHING compared to taking an order from the Chaos God himself. He felt like prey under the draconequus’s gaze. A potential plaything for the unpredictable creature.
The waiter's skittanxiousness reached new heights as he attempted to maintain a semblance of composure. His hooves trembled ever so slightly and beads of perspiration formed on his forehead. The chaotic aura emanating from Discord seemed to amplify his nerves, creating a palpable tension in the air.
With a sort of deep breath, Springbloom gathered what was left of his wits and attempted to regain his professional demeanor. "O-our drink m-menu offers a w-wide variety of options," he said, his voice betraying a strong trace of nervousness as he stumbled his way through the usual script. “T-tonight might I r-recommend our signature S-Silver Spritzer or a refreshing fruit-infused cocktail?”
"W-we'll just start with some water please," Fluttershy said in her most patient, polite, and understanding tone of voice which, despite her best efforts, couldn't help but sympathetically leech on the young pony's nerves. She was getting some second hand skittanxiousness just watching him work.
"Wine," Discord then said, raising a paw, "a bottle of your finest Eldritch Ambrosia."
Eldritch Ambrosia was a vintage of a rare list of drinks known to some as "chaos wine". It was a drink not many knew even existed. The process of creating such a drink was a mystery all its own, but many scholars theorize magic had something to do with it. And that was sadly the most they could agree on. Flavor profile, color, viscosity, and texture was said to vary greatly from vintage to vintage and apparently changed frequently between pours.
"I-I'm afraid w-we don't h-have that vintage available," Springbloom was forced to admit, bracing himself for something awful.
"Not a single drop of it?"
"N-no sir..."
"Fine, we'll just have the waters," Discord frowned, "...and a chocolate milk!"
"Verygoodsir," was what the waiter quickly sputtered out the moment he heard the request. He didn't bother writing it down and instead darted away from the table like a rubber ball.
“He seems like a nice colt,” Fluttershy quietly said a few minutes later.
“M’yes, a bit all over the place it would seem,” Discord replied with a raised eyebrow, “seems like this job is working him ragged.”
As the pair settled into their plush seating, they engaged in some light small talk while they waited. They spoke of a variety of topics from the weather to the new dresses at the boutique. Fluttershy had some lovely facts about spring flowers she happily shared and Discord returned with some references to a musical that was touring Canterlot around this time. It was really remarkable just how seamless one topic flowed into the next. There was never a pause between the topics or even awkward silences. Just pleasant, friendly conversation.
Discord remained shockingly cordial and charming throughout all of it, Fluttershy was pleasantly surprised to find. She couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride for her friend, knowing that not too long ago, such a normal and enjoyable date would have been unimaginable for the chaotic and unpredictable Discord. He truly was putting forth a genuine effort to remain plain and simple. If only Fluttershy knew just how many chaotic thoughts he was having by the minute as the overly fancy and needlessly decadent atmosphere surrounded them. And obviously, he felt resisting the urge to cause all the silverware to dance or change up the menu items to something more interesting or snap away every single piece of fancy dress and leave these regal ponies naked was a worthy achievement all its own.
It was just a shame that all this restraint left him pent up and impatient.
“Just where is that waiter with our drinks?” Discord huffed.
Almost on cue, the nervous Springbloom came skittering out of the kitchen, carrying a large pitcher of water made of clear crystal. He carried the heavy thing with careful hooves, finding an uneasy middle ground between dutifully rushing over to the table and ensuring not a drop of water left the container. His steps were shaky, small, and hasty as his eyes remained glued to the container of sloshing liquid in his hooves.
He was so focused on this task, however, that he failed to keep track of where he was going and in a blink of an eye he suddenly found himself running into the table.
Multiple things happened at that moment. The icy water that Springbloom so painstakingly carried over to the table spilled out on Fluttershy’s fancy dress. The few ponies who remained in the restaurant looked up to the noise and gasped as they watched the accident unfold. A few harsh piano keys were struck as the string quartet’s music abruptly halted. The sudden noise also startled a group of doves perched outside the restaurant, causing them to take flight in a flurry of feathers which caused a nearby street performing mime to drop his invisible box routine in surprise, but that was cause of less concern.
Fluttershy could only gasp as she was so suddenly doused in icy water. She was positively drenched, all down her front, from her chest to her legs. Ice cubes and water trickled down her wet and ruined dress, gathering in a large puddle beneath her on the hardwood floor. Suddenly the room grew cold and tense.
Discord was glaring daggers at Springbloom who was still staring at the mess he'd made. The poor pony shivered and shook with fear, his ears lowered and his eyes wide in panic. It was clear that he was too scared to move.
“I-I’m s-so sorry! My my sincerest apologies!” Springbloom stammered out what he could as color drained from his face. His ears drooped flatly on his head as a look of terror and embarrassment fell over his pale pony face. In a desperate attempt to salvage what remained of the pitcher, he even donated his own towel to aid in mopping up the mess.
“You clumsy idiot!” Discord snapped, “why don’t you watch where you’re going?! You could have seriously-” Only his words trailed off as he glanced down at Fluttershy. The smaller pony shivered as she tried to dry herself off with her single cloth napkin.
The impatient scowl started to soften on Discord’s face as he watched the meek little pegasus try to dab away the puddle of water that soaked into her dress. He was livid that their wonderful night was ruined by this inexperienced waiter and he had half a mind to enact his revenge, but all that didn't feel so important the more he looked at Fluttershy. Shivering and hopelessly wet...
Perhaps...they could still salvage the evening...
“Leave us!” Discord waved the waiter off who made a mad dash out of the area, “and I’ll take my chocolate milk with a crazy straw!” The pianist cautiously resumed playing a slow, melancholic melody as the other patrons exchanged bewildered glances. Discord meanwhile looked over to Fluttershy, his angry frown starting to turn into a subtle smirk as devilish ideas formed in his mind. “Oh Fluttershy, you’re all wet!”
“It’s...not that bad,” the little pony replied, “it’s just water. I’ll be...dried off in no time.” Still she attempted to sop up the mess with her napkins. The delicate satin fabrics that made up her dress were left discolored and stained. She'd probably have to throw it out at this point which rather disheartened her. She quite liked this dress.
Discord leaned into his palms as he watched the little pegasus hurriedly dab at the large wet spot. Even all panicked and flustered, she still managed to look so cute in her little dress. He was already getting an idea of how he could turn this situation around and have a little fun doing so.
"Why don't I help you with that?" the draconequus suddenly asked. With a wave of his paw, Discord magicked the wet spot away, simultaneously mending any ruined fibers the cold moisture might have frayed. With a superfluously showy twinkle, the area was repaired and brought back to its most pristine state.
A small smile started to grow on Fluttershy's face as her dress was brought back to life. Relief and happy surprise lit up her face. She was just about to thank Discord for his good deed, however, that wasn't the end of his magical meddling for the evening. With a much more subtle wave of his other hand behind his back, he started to weave another spell, this one focused around Fluttershy’s crotch.
Muffled by the layers of delicate fabric that made up the skirt of the dress, there was a faint tinkling sound. The sound was subtle, almost as subtle as the magical changes Discord was adding to his date’s attire. Making magical adjustments as faint as a drifting cloud, Fluttershy's panties started to inflate around her. She rose a tiny bit in her seat as a diaper started to appear, growing in thickness from a thin pull-up to an embarrassingly thick diaper fit for the heaviest of bedwetters. It was fortunate that the skirt of the dress kept all the bulk concealed.
A blush started to spread across her face as she felt herself subtly rise up on a pillowy cushion. She couldn’t help but squirm as the feeling of the diaper started to awaken something deep inside of her. She looked up at Discord with a mix of shock, embarrassment, and a touch of awkward pleasure. Discord’s grin only seemed to widen as she visibly resisted the urge to squirm.
“D-Discord!” Fluttershy exclaimed in a strained whisper as her thighs squeezed tightly around the thick and cushy diaper. “I-I told you no magic tonight!” she squirmed and looked around the room in an embarrassed fit. “S-someone might see!”
“Let them,” Discord smirked, scanning the room himself, “if they try anything, I’ll turn them into a chair!” He puffed out his chest nobly before smirking down at the flighty pegasus. “Why don’t we get out of here and whip up something quick at home. No more of this fancy stuff.” He leaned in closer. “Maybe I can whip up some of my famous macaroni and cheese. I know a certain little Cottontail loves her macaroni and cheese.”
Fluttershy bashfully squirmed at being called ‘Cottontail’. It was a nickname Discord used on her when they played their cute diaper games at home. It wasn’t a secret name or even all that embarrassing, but it represented a rather private side of her that she didn’t plan on drawing on tonight. Macaroni and cheese was also her favorite meal to have when she was being babied. Discord knew what strings he was pulling.
“Tonight w-was supposed to be our...fancy night out,” she responded, her conviction already starting to waver slightly.
But Discord’s meddling didn't end there.
“Why Fluttershy,” Discord then cooed softly, "you've gotten so fidgety all of a sudden. Does someone need to go...potty?" He snickered, his eyes glinting with mischievous pleasure. He waved his hand again, this time causing a star-like twinkle to float around Fluttershy’s bladder.
The magical effects were immediately felt. In mere moments her bladder became achingly full. Her face turned red as she squirmed in her seat, trying to hold back the sudden and dire need to pee. The fidgeting became more pronounced and exaggerated the longer she struggled to hold back the inevitable.
Finally with a soft whimper, after only seconds of holding it back, she was forced to let out a small stream of pee, soaking the front of her diaper. Underneath her regal dress she could feel the warmth quickly spread across her crotch. Down it collected around her rump, inflating the thirsty layers of the diaper there. Paradoxically her body rewarded her with feelings of relief even as she continued peeing herself in the middle of the fancy restaurant. Once it started, she couldn’t stop it. She didn’t want to stop it. Her legs kicked and squirmed under her as the diaper inflated with urine. Her cheeks burned with shame and embarrassment and yet she couldn't deny the thrill that ran through her body at the realization of what she had just done.
Discord watched the whole thing with great interest. The surprise, the brief panic, naughty relief, and forbidden pleasure. No one flooded a diaper quite like his cute little Cottontail. He grinned, “why must we pretend to be who we aren’t? I can think of a dozen different things we could be doing instead of waiting around for some bumbling bus boy to bring us our food.”
“It...was...supposed to be...our fancy night out,” she responded weakly, subtly leaning in her seat to feel the freshly warmed diaper squish against her.
“We could...paint some pretty pictures with my special chaos watercolors. We could play dress up and see just how many outfits I can get my little Cottontail in before she starts fussing,” Discord mused, “I would even sit down for a fancy little tea party. I know how my little Cottontail enjoys those!”
“A-are you ready t-to order?” the squeaky voice of the waiter was back, cutting straight through the mood and interrupting the intimate flow Discord was having.
Scowling at the interruption, Discord sharply held up a paw and snapped his fingers as a spark of chaotic energies crackled off his fingertips. In a single instant, the multicolored lightning shot through the waiter’s body, causing him to freeze where he stood, pen fixed on top of his notepad, mouth stopped half open and in mid-sentence. The only thing that remained fluid were his eyes which blinked and darted back and forth in panic.
“Better,” Discord sighed before turning back to the bashful Fluttershy, “so how ‘bout it?”
“B-but our...fancy night out...” Fluttershy muttered in a small voice, squirming sillily in her seat. It was as if she sought reassurance in this, even if the idea was starting to seem less fun as time went on.
“We can be fancy and have a little fun,” Discord grinned, holding up a claw ready to snap, “just say the word...”
Fluttershy’s resistance was breaking down and Discord could sense it. Every time she looked up at him she appeared less and less firm about her idea of a ‘perfectly normal date’. The more she sat there wallowing in her soggy diaper, the more she felt uncomfortable in her lavish dress. The longer she sat there, the more she realized how exhausting it was to pretend to be fancy.
Finally, bashfully looking down at her lap, she spoke up with a small voice, “I-I guess...w-we can still have a little bit of fun while we’re here...”
Discord’s face lit up, “if it would make my little Cottontail happy!”
“N-nothing too harsh now!” Fluttershy said as she shifted in her seat, her soggy diaper squelching under her weight, “no mean tricks.”
“No mean tricks,” Discord repeated with a smile, “your wish is my command.”
"A-and o-only if we eat first," she said with a soft voice, “I’m still kind of hungry...”
Discord grinned wide, "of course, little Cottontail."
With a snap of his fingers, the world around them started to slow down. Time itself grinded to a halt as the ponies around them slowed down to statue-like stillness. Waitstaff were suspended mid-step, customers in mid-sentence, even the steam off the hot food was stuck motionless in the air. A surreal silence enveloped the frozen scene, rendering everything in the area immobile yet clearly conscious. Amidst the stillness, the eyes of the ponies around them remained the only indications of activity, blinking and darting with surprise and awareness.
“So we’re no longer interrupted by rude ponies,” Discord explained with a devilish grin, throwing a glance at their waiter Springbloom who stood by the table as frozen as ever, “but I know my little Cottontail sometimes likes...a bit of an audience.”
The smile on Fluttershy's face grew bashful as she squirmed in her seat, her diaper getting all squishy.
“First things first, we need to get that pretty dress off so it doesn’t get any messier,” Discord said before waving his hand in the air.
Like being undressed by a dozen invisible hands, Fluttershy felt her regal outfit glow and then magically pull itself off of her. Her silky stockings and shoes slowly slid down her legs until one by one they gathered in a neatly folded pile beside her. Her dress was delicately popped up over her head, its many layers of embroidery and fabrics kept perfectly intact and unwrinkled. The rose gold tiara, of course, was kept in place on top of her cute little forehead.
What was left was Fluttershy’s very soggy and very swollen diaper which was left proudly on display now without all those fancy clothes in the way. A plain white diaper stained yellow which was so puffed out and inflated it looked like it was going to burst.
And it was just the cutest thing Discord had ever seen.
“What a soggy little girl!” Discord happily exclaimed, “look at that soaked diaper!” He then glanced over at Springbloom who, despite being frozen in place, had a noticeable blush on his cheeks. "Hold this for a second, won't you," Discord absently said as he handed off the pile of clothes to the frozen waiter, draping it all over the pony's outstretched hoof. “Now who’s hungry?”
Another wave of his claw caused Fluttershy’s chair to rumble and morph. She gasped a tiny bit as the dining chair began to stretch around her and mold into elongated dimensions. The legs became tall and thin as a tray began to form in front of her, solidifying into a fancy looking highchair.
A pony-statue named Tiramisu dressed in a chef’s jacket and apron came sliding out of the kitchen. Holding a large metal pot in her oven mitt covered hooves, she was magically dragged through the frozen restaurant until she stood beside their table. The delicious scents of gooey cheese and macaroni bubbled from the pot, tantalizing Fluttershy’s taste buds.
“Just in time!” Discord chuckled as he magicked up two fancy bowls and started scooping large spoonfuls of the stringy cheesy dish into them. “Open wide, little one,” he cooed as he floated the spoonful of cheese and noodles closer to Fluttershy who gladly accepted the offering in her own reserved and bashful way.
The pasta was nothing short of delicious! The rich and creamy cheese sauce, a velvety blend of four different cheeses all mixed into a melt-in-the-mouth flavor. The slight chewiness of the buttery pasta coated perfectly in the sauce. Even the herbs and spices sparingly used mixed perfectly in the bowl, producing a delicious yet familiar flavor. After only a few more bites, Fluttershy finally realized it was Discord’s special recipe! Likely with all the extra side effects to go with it.
The meal filled her up wonderfully. The warm and hearty meal satisfied both her hunger and her inner little in a comforting way. As she savored every bite of the delectable pasta, she couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment wash over her. The nervous of wearing a diaper in public fell to the wayside as she melted into contentness like the gooey cheese that bubbled in her filling tummy.
