Pinkie's 4th of July extravaganza
What's so special about today?
"Rainbow dash! Wake up!!" Pinkie screamed at the top of her lungs, startling the blue pegasus off the cloud she was sleeping on.
"Ah! Jeez pinkie, what is it?" Rainbow asked as she hoverered over to where pinkie was standing.
"What do you mean what is it? It's July fourth dummy! C'mon! I need some help preparing the party!" Pinkie responded as she placed a hat on rainbows head and began hopping away.
Rainbow took the hat off and inspected it, seeing it was a top hat with red and white stripes, and white stars.
"July fourth? What's so important about today?" She asked herself as she started to follow where her friend was headed.
"Looks like todays gonna be rather slow" Spike said as he walked beside twilight and stared at a list.
"Alright, so, what's the first thing in the list?"
"Uh, were supposed to-" Spike began to say, but stopped when he was interrupted by singing.
"Ooh saay caan you seee!" Sang a voice who they recognized as Pinkie pie.
They looked over to where the singing was coming from, and saw their friend hopping towards them.
She was wearing a cape, with white stars over a blue background on the top, and vertical red and white stripes on the bottom.
"There you are Twilight! Here, you can help by hanging these up!" Pinkie exclaimed as she suddenly shoved a large amount of cloth onto twilights face.
Twilight caught them with her magic, and upon further inspection, they were actually multiple folded flags.
Twilight fully unfolded one of them, seeing fifty white stars over a blue box on the top right, and the rest of the flag being adorned with thirteen red and white horizontal stripes.
"Pinkie, what are these flags supposed to represent?" Twilight asked, making pinkie giggle.
"There the American flag dummy!" She said as she placed a hat on top of twilights head and hopped away.
...
"The what?" Spike asked as rainbow dash slowly approached them.
"Nghh! A little help?" She exclaimed as she struggled to push a large wooden crate.
"What's supposed to be in there?" Twilight asked as rainbow stopped pushing.
"Pinkie said their.. american made patriotic fire works, whatever that's supposed to mean" rainbow answered as she read the label on the box.
"Hold up, am I missing something? What's America supposed to be?" Spike asked as twilight gathered all of the flags in her magic.
"I don't know, did she tell you?" Twilight responded as she gestured to rainbow.
"Nope, I'm as lost as you are, apparently it's got something to do with today, and a party, but, I don't know"
"Well, hopefully she'll explain later, for now, let's just help her out, c'mon Spike" Twilight said as she headed towards the nearest flag pole she knew of.
Mayor mare sighed as she sat in her office.
The day had been rather boring, and she hoped she could do something interesting later.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock on her office door.
'Knock knock knock.
"Who is-"
"Texas!!" Pinkie pie screamed as she burst through the door and red, white, and blue confetti filled the room.
"W-what?" Mayor mare asked as her mane got messed up and she held onto her desk in a death grip.
"The state!" Pinkie said as another mare ran up to the room.
"I'm sorry mayor mare, I tried to tell her to make an appointment, but-" The mare started to say, before pinkie interrupted her.
"But then I said that I didn't need an appointment because this party is too important!"
"You've done party's before haven't you? What's so important about this one?" Mayor mare asked, making pinkie grin.
"Because today is the anniversary of America's independence!! And I need everypony's help to make the best party ever!" She exclaimed as she pounded a hoof on the desk.
"The independence of.. what?" Mayor mare asked as pinkie placed a piece of paper on the desk.
"Here's the national anthem, can you get some pony to sing it during the party? Thanks!" Pinkie said as she suddenly zoomed out of the room.
...
"What just happened?" Asked the receptionist.
"I'm not sure..." Mayor mare responded as she grabbed the peice of paper.
...
"Can you find some pony to sing this? It's, actually not that bad for a fake national anthem" Mayor mare said after she read the anthem.
"Sure"
"You want to.. borrow some of my bald eagle's?" Fluttershy asked as pinkie stepped into her cottage.
"Yep!"
"Can I ask why?"
"Why? Because it's the national bird of the United States duh! Did you forget what day it was?"
"Um, July fourth?"
"Yes! And what does July fourth celebrate?"
...
"The American independence!" Pinkie exclaimed as rarity walked up to the cottage.
"Is this a bad time?" Rarity asked, making pinkie rush up to her.
"Not at all! You can help with some of the decorations! Remember, red, white, and blue"
"Oh! A party? Who's birthday are we celebrating today?"
"We're celebrating the birthday of The United States of America!" pinkie said proudly as a bald eagle landed on her back.
"Oh, mr bird, what are you doing here? I thought you were sleeping" Fluttershy asked the bird, who turned around and gave her a response.
"You want to celebrate? Um, ok"
"Im sorry but, what exactly is, America?" Rarity asked.
"Only the best country in the world!" Pinkie exclaimed as she left the cottage.
Rarity and Fluttershy just stared at each other.
"A pinkie pie thing?" Rarity asked.
"I think so.." Fluttershy responded.
"It's actually a nice looking flag..." Twilight said to herself as she hanged up the last flag she had at her tree home.
"Twilight! Are you done? Great!" Pinkie exclaimed, making twilight turn around and face pinkie, who was pushing a large box.
"What's in there?" Spike asked.
"The state flags!" Pinkie answered as she tipped the box over, and a huge amount of flags fell out.
Twilight and spike stared blankly at all the flags.
"What's up with all the flags?" Spike asked as twilight levitated a random one over.
It was simple one with a red X over a white background.
"There the flags of all fifty American states of course!" Pinkie said as twilight levitated another flag over.
It was a one with a white palm tree and crescent moon over a dark blue background.
"Pinkie, you keep talking about this, America, what exactly is it supposed to be? And why is today so special?" Twilight asked, making pinkie gasp in surprise.
Pinkie quickly approached twilights side and whispered into her ear.
"I can teach you"
"Uh"
"Great!!" Pinkie screamed as she pulled a large book out of her mane and opened it into the first page.
"The United States of America is a country in the northern part of the American continent-" Pinkie started to ramble as twilight stared blankly and spike placed a claw on his chin.
"It is made up of fifty states, forty eight of those being part of the same landmass-" Pinkie continued to ramble.
"Pinkie" Twilight said as pinkie continued talking.
"It was originally thirteen colonies under the control of the British-"
"Pinkie"
"Eventually, the Americans of the colonies had enough, and started what would be known as the American revolution-"
"Pinkie!" Twilight screamed, making pinkie immediately stop talking.
"Uh huh, uh huh, I guess that makes sense" Spike said, making twilight eye him blankly.
"No it doesn't. Pinkie, this, kingdom your speaking of, it doesn't exist"
"I'm pretty sure it does, otherwise, why would we be celebrating it's independence today?!" Pinkie exclaimed as she bounced in place.
"If it exists, can you name some of its cities? Maybe the princess could know something... Even though it's not likely"
"Ok!" Pinkie exclaimed happily as she started to list off cities.
"Manhattan, Filladelphia, Baltimore, Las Vegas, Dodge City-"
"Pinkie, th- you're just naming Equestrian cities" Twilight said as she facehoofed.
"No I'm not, there american cities, you said to name cities from the United States, so I'm naming some of their cities!" Pinkie said as twilight sighed.
"You know what? Let's just get this, independence party over with" Twilight said as she picked up the flags with her magic and started to hang them while pinkie bounced away.
"You want.. Three hundred hay burgers?" Asked the stupified clerk.
"Yep!" Replied pinkie pie, who alongside her cape, now wore the same hat she had given out and glasses that were in the shape of stars, and had led lights on them.
"...Why?"
"To have a classic American meal during the party!" Pinkie said, making the ponies behind her start to murmur.
"There's gonna be a party today?" One stallion asked.
"What's an American meal?" Asked a mare.
"Apparently it's a bunch of burgers" replied another stallion.
"Uh, ok... Well, it's gonna be like, one thousand bits, you know that right?" Asked the clerk.
"I know" Replied pinkie, still with a smile on her face.
...
"Sure, just, wait about an hour or something, and we'll, uh, just, take them to the party"
"Great!" Pinkie exclaimed as she zoomed out of the building and the clerk spoke up to the rest of the patrons.
"Yeah, were sold out"
"I figured" Replied a stallion as he left the fast food restaurant.
"We're celebrating what now?" Applejack asked as she, rarity, and fluttershy walked over to the library.
"We're celebrating.. Americas birthday" Fluttershy said, making applejack give her a confused look.
"And who exactly is this, America?"
"We don't actually know darling, but, apparently there important, since pinkie seems to be really going all out for this party..." Rarity said as they reached the ponyville town square.
The entire square was decorated with a large amount of red, white, and blue.
There were flags, tables already set up, decorations, and ponies already present.
They eventually spotted the rest of their friends, and walked over to them.
"Hey girls" Twilight said.
"So do any of you know what exactly were celebrating?" Rarity asked, making twilight groan in response.
"We're celebrating the independence of a kingdom that doesn't exist"
"Of course it does silly!" Pinkie exclaimed as she appeared behind them.
"Now, I'm pretty sure we've got everything set up! All that's left, are the guns!" Pinkie exclaimed happily as she ran off again.
...
"What's a gun?" Fluttershy asked innocently.
After a while, pinkie returned, pushing yet another large wooden crate.
"I wonder what that one has" Spike asked as pinkie struggled to push the crate.
"It must be those guns she was talking about" Rainbow said as she flew over and helped pinkie push the crate.
"Thanks dashy! Now, twilight, rarity, I'm gonna need you both for this part" Pinkie said as she gestures towards the top of the crate.
Both mares looked at each other for a brief moment, then lit their horns and opened the box.
"Great! Now, levitate every item inside, point them towards the air, and then wait for my signal!" Pinkie exclaimed excitedly as twilight and rarity magically grabbed every item inside.
"Good gracious, what are these things?" Rarity asked as the items floated over to them.
"Pistols, rifles, shotguns, snipers, you know, your typical American weapon!"
"W- weapon?" Fluttershy squeaked timidly.
"Don't worry fluttershy, it'll be fun!" Pinkie exclaimed as twilight pointed most of the weapons to the air.
"Ok, I've got them lined up, what are we supposed to do?" Twilight asked.
"When I give the signal, just press on all the triggers at the same time!" Pinkie said as she ran off yet again.
"I'm actually kind of excited to see where she's going with this" Rainbow dash said, making applejack stare at her blankly.
"What?"
After another moment, pinkie returned, and started setting up what looked like a small podium in front of twilights tree house.
Her friends watched as she finished the podium, and hopped onto it, holding the flag of America, as they had found out, while still wearing her red, white, and blue attire.
She stroke a pose, then looked over at the puzzled group of mares.
"Ok guys! I'm about to give the signal!" She said with an excited squeal.
"Darling, what do you think is gonna happen?" Rarity asked.
"I have no idea" Responded twilight.
...
...
"Kilometer!!!" Pinkie pie screamed, and, taking that as the signal, twilight and rarity triggered every gun they were holding with their magic, causing quite literally the loudest bang they had ever heard in their lives.
All five mares immediately covered their ears from the sudden pain, while coincidentally multiple fire works shot into the air.
As the fireworks exploded, and the mares got their bearings back, they noticed that pinkie pie was smiling widely, while the flag that was on the flag pole she was holding and her cape flapped in non-existent wind.
A bald eagle had also perched on her mane.
"A gotta say, this is the most patriotic I've ever seen some pony. Are you sure this, United States isn't real twi?" Apple jack asked as pinkie started flailing her flag around.
"WOOOOO!" Pinkie screamed.
"I- I'm not sure, Maybe the princess will know something..."
"I- is the loud bang over?" Fluttershy asked as she peeked out from behind her mane.
"Yep! Now c'mon! Party's just getting started! We gotta eat now! weee!" Pinkie exclaimed as she started bouncing over to the tables.
The rest of the mares just looked at each other for a moment.
"Well, I don't know about you guys, but if this is how America celebrates it's independence, than I
count me in!" Rainbow said as she flew over to pinkie pie.
