What is my Future?

Whatever It Is, I'm Not Ready

“...Dazzle me more sweetie, work those hips! That dress is for the new mares of tomorrow, not your grandmother! Don’t be shy, dearie!” Commanded the older white unicorn. The models she oversaw posing for the pseudo-camera dragon with the cardboard box in his hands. The mares walked down the carpet, showed off yet another gem of a dress tailor made by the element of Generosity.

One after another, each mare with the physique of a goddess stopped right up to Spike and did a little hairflip or a kiss to the camera. Posing in such a way to show off their greatest assets while still preserving their inner beauty. Or whatever it was that Rarity was yelling at them about. The past few carpet drills had been especially long and grueling. Spike could see it on the mares’ face that perhaps calling a break would be in order. Therefore, the rather in-shape dragon made a hand signal to Rarity, who took a little too long to finally notice but when she did-

“Alright, water break! Let’s take a moment to cool down. I expect nothing less than perfection from all of you,” Rarity, after she signaled Spike to follow her, made her way to her personal, makeshift office space made from a fold-out table and some wall dividers. Spike watched as Rarity grabbed a little water bottle from her mini fridge as he took a seat in one of the office chairs.

“I’m glad you approved this break. We’ve been at this for over three hours and my thighs are burning from having to crouch so much,” the toned dragon laid back into the swivel chair, and gave a deep sigh. He took a hand and wiped his forehead.

“Oh you’re still so young. Cursed dragons and their ability to age so slowly. Oh, to have that youthful strut I once had!” She said, putting her forearm to her head and pretending to crash back into her chair, and by consequence accidentally having water be spilled atop of her, prompting a laugh out of Spike.

Spike looked over at Rarity, who was leaning back into her chair. A dead-sort-of look in her eyes as she looked at the ceiling fans above. “Heh, Spike. You want to know something about this building we’re in?”

Spike looked at her, “What is it?”
“This building and I are the same age. And you look at the rafters above, all the dust and cobwebs, truly a hideous sight, don’t you agree?”

Spike raised an eyebrow. “Uh, what are you talking about?”

“I’ve heard whispers from the other fashionistas. This place is so old and dingy… This place is so passé. This place is so past its prime… Like me…” her voice began to crack as she began to tear up.

Spike was no stranger to Rarity’s crying. She had done so so many times, and yet, Spike had the sense that this was something truly deep.

“Oh Spike, what I wouldn’t give to be like new! To be that hot new mare on the block!” By this point, Rarity was really choking up. Spike needed a moment to really think about his next words. He knew this was a delicate subject for her. Spike had been warned by Twilight that Rarity was going through a bit of an ‘internal crisis’, but Twilight was unable to really specify to him what it was. Spike was no stranger to it. He knew Rarity since he was a little dragon. It was something he thought he had grown accustomed too.

But now that he now was one of the adults trying to reason with one of her ‘moods’; this felt so much different to when he was a little dragon.

Spike chose his next words ever so carefully.

“Rarity, you know as well as I do that these are the same snobs who get the newest phone and tech the second it drops. The same ones who one second will dance gleefully to one song and call it bad because someone against them wrote something nasty about the singer the night after. These hoity-toity types are so quick to forget the classics; don’t you agree?”

Wow, Spike didn’t know where he pulled that from, but he was almost impr-

“Spike, have you never heard of ‘playing into the crowd’? Yes, I agree that the younger mares and stallions of the day are impulsive, but that still doesn’t change the fact that my style is feeling tired…”

“Is it your style that’s tired, or is it you; is it your mind that just needs a moment to push away all this negativity and just to enjoy yourself. Come ooooooon! Where’s that pretty smile? Or are you going to tell me smiles are… Pass-Eh? How do you say that word?”

Spike stood up, acting as if he’s going to reach over that desk, which causes Rarity to shirk away, seemingly annoyed. “Spiiiike, I don’t wanna smile right now!”

“Are smiles in such short supply you can’t spare me one? Damn! That sucks…” Spike says with a chuckle, teasing to reach over to her.

It was then they were met face to face. For all that Rarity complained of her age, Spike wasn’t put off at all by the older mare. She still had done her make-up so well. She was still so fair-faced. She still radiated an air of beauty with those eyes like a blue ocean.

It was then that Spike had something of a flashback.

No. More like a moment of Deja-vu.

When he was a short, little dragon… all those times he got to be alone with Rarity. The way his heart flustered…

Those were hatchling thoughts then, he thought, and yet… Did he ever grow out of it?

He had his flings; crushes; dates; moments of love, or at least, it felt that way. And yet, he never really could find a rush like the one he found with Rarity.

The dragon cleared his throat as he pulled away. Stopping that line of thinking in its tracks.

“Sorry, I went too far, didn’t I?”

Rarity, who seemed to be blushing herself, shook her head. A smile creeping up on her face. “No no! You’re fine, Spikey-Wikey. I know you’re just trying to make me feel better.” She gave a soft sigh. “Oh, how the years pass, but you still seem like that little baby dragon. I mean, look at these…”

Spike winced as Rarity now was the one in his face, squeezing at his face. Despite all the years, her grip was still as strong as steel. “Hey!” he chortled.

The two laughed it up for a moment. A new sort-of air filled the room. Gone was that anxious feeling. A feeling that was almost… nostalgic.

The moment sadly had to be cut short once the ringing of a cell phone could be heard. The older mare practically jumped off him as she quickly went to answer the phone.

“Yes, Miss Dress Frills!”

A pause… And a look of disappointment.

“Rescheduled?! The biggest summer wear debut since Celestia-knows-when and the big wigs want to push it back because of streaming scheduling conflicts?”

Another pause…

“Okay and who’s fault is that? My girls are-”

Rarity lightened up… and a bigger smile began to creep on her face.

“EEEE! The Olde Mare Inn? As in THE Olde Mare Inn? All of us? Will you-know-who be there?”

Rarity jumped like a filly.

“Y-yes! I will go tell my staff right away,”

Spike chuckled before asking “Good news, I assume?”

“Very! Boring streaming contracts basically fell through at the last minute but we were picked up by some new networks and as a gift for the admittedly nightmare-ish transition to a new venue, the big wigs are letting me and my team stay in the best penthouses at the Olde Mare Inn! Manehatten’s most exclusive hotel where truly only the most elite of the elite of ponies get to stay,”

Spike looked at her a little wide-eyed. While he couldn’t exactly put his finger on why moving hotels on such short notice, even if it were the nicest hotel on the planet, would be such an amazing thing to hear but seeing Rarity happy was all Spike needed to know.

“I mean I didn’t mind our old hotel. It had a nice view of the city! The beds were just fine,”

“It’s not about the hotel service, it's about being right at the epicenter of culture and good taste. So many of the best designs ever featured by ponykind were showcased at the convention center it hosts. So many celebrity stories, so much pop culture ephemera. So much history! So much culture! It was the first hotel ever built in Manehatten, after all!”

Rarity scurried past Spike, who was still trying to digest the fact that they were going to be changing hotels and all the stuff he was going to probably move.

Spike laid down, face down on the bed…

His body ached. He groaned and huffed hard…

Despite being cold blood, he could swear he was building a sweat from it all.

“What are these ladies putting in those damned suitcases?” He growled as indeed, Spike, wanting to alway be the gentleman, helped Rarity and her team move enough suitcases to fill a bedroom from one luxury hotel to another. Multiple trips going back and forth while Rarity and her team were off doing interviews and things of that nature. Thank heavens that the hotel staff took pity on him and helped him move stuff to the corresponding rooms. He did not even have time to really enjoy the lavish hotel.

Spike laid into the bed, still in his athletic pants and shirt… The bed felt exceptionally soft, he practically sank into it almost like quicksand. The blankets were smooth like silk. Spike rotated in bed, looking out to the suite. Finally, he had a moment to really look at where he was staying the night.

The ‘Suite’ was more like a three bedroom apartment. Two separate floors, a modern design with all the glass decoration. The marble kitchen and an opulent ambience with the lighting that shined and refracted from crystal lights. A room that could only really be compared to Celestia and Luna’s sleeping quarters. Speaking of which, a massive painting was upon the ceiling. The sun and the moon in a yin-yang formation, with the artist’s interpretation of Celestia and Luna upon it. No doubt a painting from the noble times.

“Mmm… At least this bed is nice…” Spike mumbled as his blinks began to slow. He got his workout in for the day. He was ready to take a nice, looooooon-

A door opened, the clacking of hooves on the ground as a familiar “Spiiiiiiike!” rang out.

Spike groaned awake, struggling to climb out of the comfortable bed he was in as he sat up. “Yeah, what’s-”

Spike’s face went into a blush, did his eyes deceive him? Was she wearing, was she wearing-
“Oh dear, there’s this state-of-the-art spa facility and it even has a jacuzzi especially made for dragons. We’re only going to get so much time to relax, so go throw on something quick.”

“That would explain the bikini, heh,” muttered Spike as he rubbed the back of his neck with a hand.

Rarity wore a blue bikini, with gold rings holding up the fabric. If the thin wear was not enough to make his mind think about that, the rings were quite big and left parts of her hips and rear ever so exposed. Just being able to see that cutie mark of hers was enough to get his heart racing.

“I’m going for their Neigh-Pon Style Massage so I’m just wearing whatever, too,”

How could she just say it's whatever? One outfit and it was like he was right back to that little crush. But the feelings were far more intense. One moment he was exhausted and the next, it felt like life was once again breathed into his body. Like it was ready to really go for something. Something so carnal, something so primal within him…

“Okay”

So many ideas in his mind, and despite being alive for some 50-ish years, there just was no adequate words to say. A dragon’s mind ages as slowly as their body, and it only gets slower from here. He physically is 19 now, but he technically won’t be in his 20s for another few decades.

You would think with all that time he would be happy, but he knew that the window to show Rarity those deeper feelings were so painfully short. He had to do something, but the timing just wasn’t right.

Then again, when is it ever the right time?

Not right this second. He needed to do some changing first.

It took a lot of willpower to hide his… ‘excitement’, so to speak, while walking with the mare. To his relief, when he exited the bathroom in their room, she had taken the liberty to wear a fine, blue satin robe. Her hands firmly in her pocket as he found it much easier to not have those primal, naughty thoughts.

The elevator stopped, and they were on the ‘relaxation’ floor. Walking down a hallway with calming music, they were now out on an outdoor patio. The blazing summer sun bearing down on them.

“The spa is over here, past this pool area…”

An infinity pool that stretched so far and wide and a massive jacuzzi that were both empty. Multiple pegasi security guards on standby that doubled as lifeguards.

After a brief walk past the pool, they were now at the door of the spa. Spike had been on these spa trips before, and with all the mane 6 he might add. But never before had something that was rather commonplace now had such a distinct undertone. For as much as Spike tried to tell himself that this was just another day at the spa with the girls, he wanted something more than just to get his scales polished.

But he had to stop that line of thinking. He was handed a generic towel robe with the hotel’s logo on the chest. A zebra stallion in a masseuse’s garb beckoned him closer. “Listen Spike,” Spoke the zebra with the thick Zebrani accent. “Come this way, we have a special sauna for you,”

The dragon with the toned physique was briefly taken out of his hormonal hypnotized state to walk with the zebra. A reprieve from himself as he stepped into the sauna.

“Oh, and Mr. Spike. One thing. This room is magically barriered and can withstand the temperatures of magma. So please, by all means, you can turn the heat up and melt the rocks in there if you want. The room can handle it.”

The zebra opened the door to the sauna. A seemingly barren, metallic room that made him feel a little uneasy. A magic laser passed over him. “Being detected: Dragon,” Spoke a monotone voice. The room began to transform around him. Somehow extending out and from beneath him the center of the room appeared to turn to rock. Lava began to fill what looked to be a jacuzzi, martini glasses filled with liquified gems.

Spike looked around him. This was no longer a drab metal room, but now was a volcano on the side of a mountain that overlooked a small pony town. Spike could swear the ponies below looked so real. They were outside barbecuing and playing in the sprinkler.

“Well, may as well, while I’m here,” He remarked as he put the robe off to the side. He looked down at his shorts… and a blush began to form. He had an idea. A dumb one? Maybe, but… it had been so long since he could do this kind of thing in the buff. He had grown a taste for this stuff, but with Smolder, unless she was in that kind of mood, doing this was impossible.
“Is… are there cameras or surveillance?” He mumbled.

“No sir. We take our clients’ privacy very seriously. If you are worried about me, I am simply magical intelligence that wishes to provide everyone the best experience. Are you satisfied with this response?”

“Y-yeah, I think so… So I can just…” Spike proceeded to remove his lava-proof swim trunks. His erection was right up to full. The heat, the freeing sensation, brought him back to not-so distant memories. Just a few weeks ago he and Smolder, the two of them, were going at it.The feeling of her all over him.

As he sank into the lava, memories of Smolder came into his mind… But for as much as they had shared, he could never really get into her heart. He remembered that night, that night he tried to make what they had something more than just friends…

But she laughed it off. Saying it was those damn ‘pony’ feelings getting in the way of their ‘fun’.

He took a long sigh, grabbing at a bottle that was especially designed to stay cool even at these volcanic temperatures. Spike took a sip, and gagged. Struggling to swallow down the drink.

“I… I don’t drink! I’m-”

“Approximately 60-70 years old, telling by bone density. In terms of years. But I can completely remove the alcohol, if you so choose,”

“Uh…” Spike looked down at the frigid drink. Aside from how strong it was, the taste of the liquified gems wasn’t that bad! “Maybe just make it a bit less stronger, and I think I’ll be just fine!”

A few too many drinks for a first-timer later…

The toned dragon was dozing off in the jacuzzi… and the magical intelligence spoke up.

“It appears you are sufficiently inebriated. For your safety, I will now begin exiting procedures and contact the Spa assistant on duty. Please make sure to fill the survey as you make your exit,”

Spike’s reaction was delayed, but it was a realization of horror when he heard the word ‘exit’.

“W-wait! Let me at least-”

Suddenly, the room began to blast cold as the jacuzzi was undone. Everything in the room warped back into its original form. The heat seeped out of the room. Everything was back to room temperature, which felt insanely frigid to Spike.

Oh, he was definitely going to be leaving a low rating for this M.I.

Suddenly, the door swung open, prompting Spike to cover himself up. It was the zebra and-

No.

NO NO NO NO NO! This absolutely could not be happening right now!

“Rarity!” He yelled as he instinctively went to cover himself up with his hands. His speech was still slightly slurred.

Suddenly, his big towel robe is thrown at him by the zebra, who somehow was not laughing at all of this. Talk about professionalism.

“I apologize, the magical intelligence still needs some working out, Haha!”

Spike, now dressed in a panic, practically sprinted his way out. There stood Rarity, who looked to have had a few too many herself.

“The M.I. got you too, huh? Guess that’s the future, huh?” Spike said. He tried so hard to laugh it off and play it cool after being caught with his pants down, literally.

“What? Me? No! The message finished a little too quickly for my liking so I went to the bar on the next floor. That’s just how it goes, you know?”

Rarity looked a little out of it.

And it was right at that moment another memory activated. Another

He remembered what his ex Sweetie Belle always did say Rarity gave off Wine mom energy, and he never saw that until right this second.

“I think we’ll be taking our leave. I don’t think we’re much for surveys right now,”

The zebra simply smiled and nodded. “Have a nice rest of your day!”

The two of them were now back in their suite. Two beds with a fair bit of distance and a privacy curtain that separated the two.

Spike laid in bed. Still a bit tipsy from the drinks he had. Perhaps M.I. should not be giving alcohol out like that. Spas and alcohol do not mix, he learned. Look at what it did to the two of them. Well, mostly him.

The only thing that brought him relief at this point was the fact that he didn’t have to pay for any of this.

Suddenly, his curtain opened, and it was Rarity.

“How are you holding up?” He asked as he went to cover his nuts.

“Fine, just… trying to relax before the big day tomorrow,” She said with a sigh. “I didn’t even want to drink…”

Spike perked up, Rarity was going to speak her mind.

“But then I saw the handsome stallion, Ridgeworth, the stallion from all the police TV shows, who always plays the undercover cop, you know! Normally I wouldn’t ever dare to go anywhere dressed like this but he was also dressed like this so I went over there. We talked and we started drinking and talking about what brought us here and all the things we do,”

Spike nodded, for as sure as the sun was bright, Rarity even at this age was still something of a go-getter. The more things changed, the more they stay the same, as goes the say-

“He only wanted to get in my pants, the jerk. Spike…” She let out a long sigh, now sat upon the bed. Spike being reminded that she was practically naked. That robe of hers was so tight and form fitting. Even in her older age, those curves only seemed to be enhanced…

“I’m at my wit’s end. Love just comes and goes. You’d think by my age I’d have it all figured out like Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich,”

There was so much on her mind. So much he should say but his mind wasn’t for logical talk anymore. But he needed to try. He needed to do this for her. So he mustered what little bit of wisdom he could muster, and said

“I… I know how it feels. I’m not that far off from you guys, I know I don’t seem it but… Finding that relationship is difficult, it really sucks,”

“What are you saying, dear? All those thousands of years you’ll live, you have so many more chances than me. I had to get things right and I just couldn’t. I never could make it work!”

“Rarity! I… I know! And I wish I didn’t have this curse! I wish we were closer in age, I…”

He sat up… balling up his fist. Sucking in air in his teeth. He could sit there and lament his state of mind, but he soldiered on and instead decided to sit with Rarity. She looked so miserable. So vulnerable. And he so badly wanted to fix it. She looked at him silently. Now it was her turn to listen.

“I remember… so much. I’ve had my fair share of partners too, baby. But only two are really worth discussing here. Smolder and your little sister, Sweetie Belle. Did you ever know why I couldn’t make it work with either of them?”

Rarity shook her head. “Why not?”

“Let’s start with Smolder. She’s a wild one. A true dragon to her core. She has that spirit that I just never grew up with. And maybe I could have grown into it, but her heart… was never there. She only saw me as someone to roll around with but never commit to. True to her upbringing to the bitter end… and I just couldn’t love her because she couldn’t me,”

Rarity nodded. “I know that feeling too well…”

“It sucks, right? And it’s easy to get lost in the ‘fun’ but then you want more and then she wants to go steal gems from diamond dogs immediately after cleaning up. It’s jarring,” He said with a soft chuckle.

“And what about my baby sister? Don’t tell me she’s a terrible person Spike, because I swear I’ll tell Twi-”

“No no! Nothing like that. With her it was… almost the opposite of Smolder. We were a cool couple and everything seemed just fine but then her singing career made it impossible to get any privacy because she started getting so many hits. All those concerts basically drained her and we were almost never physical. She just was too tired to really do a relationship. And I tried, I really did. I always felt like I was so close to finding that happiness with her but eventually… She knew this was too draining for us both and we split. And now, boom, that’s how your boy here ended up single for the past couple decades,”

Rarity shook her head. “I told her so many times to follow her heart. I’m happy she has a successful career, I practically raised that girl… But you two always did look cute together,”

Spike shook his head, “But honestly, there’s one lady who’s been on my mind. More than the both of them combined,”

“Who? Who could you… Oh, OH! Spike I… It’s,” Rarity looked away.

Well, the cat was out of the bag now. It is now or never, Spike.

“I know, it's the age… But I’m tired of running around playing games, I want to settle down, even if for a brief moment in this life of mine,”

“Dear, what’s going to happen in one decade? Or two? I’ll basically be a grandmother then. You won’t love me then,”

“No, that’s a lie! I will! I do now. Rarity! These feelings have NOT gone away. I’d swear on everything that if I had you, I would only give myself to you. Even when time passes, I will still dedicate myself to you. I don’t want to move on, Rarity, I want to make this work! PLEASE! Rarity, let’s try and make this work,” Spike was starting to get emotional in his voice. The alcohol only made controlling his feelings exponentially harder.

And then-

Suddenly, Rarity grabbed his face, they looked eye to eye. Spike tried to hide emotion, but she wiped his face off.

“Spike, you’re one of the sweetest guys I know. Maybe in another life we could have made this work. But I have to be realistic, and I don’t want to break your heart even more than it is now. But Spike, I will give you this,”

Before he could even react, he nuzzle came right up to his, and before he could even process it, they were locked in a kissing embrace.

She practically threw herself upon him. Her chest now laid bare against his. Her soft nipples against his tough scales. When had their robes been undone?

Who cared anymore? This was an oasis of bliss in a sea of inevitability.

His hands grabbed upon her cutie mark, groping and feeling her up. That soft body, such soft fur on soft skin. Those sultry blue eyes that dipped into his soul.

So many kisses in this long life of his, but not one could even match Rarity.

She was a divine angel. His divine angel.

Their sexes began to rub against one another. It took all his might not to bust right there. All that grinding… It was too much!

He pulled back from the kiss. Despite being the cold-blooded one, he felt like he was going to melt right there in that bed.

He huffed so hard. All that experience under his belt but he looked every part of those 19 years in the face.

“My entire life in your eyes is the equivalent of a summer’s night in mine. But just for this one moment of time, we can pretend we’re equals. That sounds like the most exquisite ending, would you not agree?”

Spike nodded dumbly. He was practically hypnotized by her. This moment was everything he wanted and more from life.

Rarity sat up over Spike, her crotch aligned with his… but instead of going straight for the fun, she switched up and now her thighs squeezed around his cock.

“Oh, you thought you were going there, young man? Oh no, a lady doesn’t just give that up on the first date. You are going to have to work your way up to that~,”

Spike’s cock, despite not truly penetrating her, still felt so tightly snug in between those experienced thighs of hers. As well, he could feel her heat against his balls. It may as well have been the real thing in his eyes.

“Now, bounce me up and down~” She commanded.

Spike wasted no time, throwing his hips up so hard it made her move. She looked down at him with a smirk. A sort of smug energy coming from her as he passionately slammed and fucked her. His hands firmly on her hips as plap sounds filled the room. The feeling of making love to his life-long crush made him so sensitive.

Every part of his body felt good. His ears were ringing. His breath was hard and panting like a dog in need of water.

It was too good. Far too good. His body quaked and trembled as Rarity tried to give him a stopping gesture, but it was far too late.

The horny dragon humped away too fast and too hard, clearly too lost in his own sense of pleasure, and before Rarity could make an objection, he busted his load straight into the sky. His cum shot up so high that he swore it almost reached the roof with the celestial sister paintings. Shot after shot of his load painted her thighs in an extra layer of cloudy white.

Rarity looked down, rather impressed at the sight. “My, I’m surprised you’re not a father yet. Do you always shoot so much?” She said with a snicker.

Spike looked at the mess he made with a… disappointed look. All that buildup. Half of a lifetime waiting for this moment… and to finish so early. He looked away.

“I know it’s not your first time. You’ll get plenty of chances to make this right for you, Spike. I had a lot of fun. It’s been a good minute since I’ve had pleasure like this, darling!”

That smirk… that beautiful smirk of hers….

“Y-yeah… I know. I promise I’ll make this perfect next time!”

By this point, they had separated. Spike popped his muscular back. Groaning as he got up.

The two of them would wash up. The event for tomorrow was going to take up all of their time, but Spike knew that even if it were just for this weekend, this one little glimpse of happiness…

This little glimpse of happiness would be one he was going to cherish the rest of his life.

Author's Note

Gonna be honest, I had some trouble with this one.

Sparity has never been my forté, nor is it something I personally seek out.
I really did try and give my best effort to make the story have some subjects that really do touch into life.

The real big challenge in my personal opinion is trying to split the difference between Spike's physiological age and his mental age. Dragon's age slowly but mentally, they take time to mature. I made Spike the age of 19, but the only way I felt I could reasonably do that without getting into potions or magic spells was to also age the cast, around the times of their future selves.

Freglz, if you're reading this, I hope you loved it, my dude.
