Chapter 8: It’s Happening

“What a beautiful sunset,” Zipp said as she sighed a little, she brought a cup of lemonade to her lips and took a sip.

“Yeah, it sure is,” Hitch said as he sat next to Zipp at the beach.

After dating for six years now, both ponies became inseparable, they spent so much time together, not just as coworkers, but as lovers, going out on many dates and just simply hanging out together, enjoying each other’s company, but something was missing and Hitch wanted to fix that.

He managed to convince Zipp to go to the beach with him, something they have done many times, but this time, this time was a little different.

A crab came up to both of them, dressed as a little butler, and he made some crab noises which on instinct Zipp turned to Hitch, “No Herald, we are ok on drinks.”

Herald made a few other noises, at which Hitch nodded, “Alight, thank you for telling me.”

“Oh come on, when is he going to say it!” Pipp shouted, her, Izzy, Sunny and Misty along with Sparky were on top of the Brighthouse, all four of them with a telescope, Pipp had one for her cameras with a few lenses so that it could zoom in on the couple.

“Be patient Pipp, Hitch will say it in a bit, you just have to wait,” Sunny said as she patted the smaller mare.

“Well, at least the fans are liking the cute time.” Izzy said as she looked on her phone at the livestream, “There are already over fifteen thousand ponies watching.”

“Are the mics working, I told those crabs to make sure they are buried deep enough so that they won’t be visible, but also so the sound can still be captured,” Pipp said as she got right next to Izzy to watch the stream with her.

“Yup, everything sounds nice and clear,” Misty said as she was on the other side of Izzy also watching the stream.

“So, mind telling me something, Hitch?” Zipp said as she looked Hitch right in the eyes.

“Y-yeah, what is it?” Hitch said, a little shaky as he tried to look calm.

“Why did you ask me to come out here out of the blue? The view is nice and it’s very calming, but there's no special occasion, you know you can't hide anything from me, I am a detective after all.” She spoke softly as she leaned on Hitch, making it so that she was now right up against Hitch’s chest.

“Oh no, she is going to ruin the surprise!” Pipp shouted.

Hitch leaned back as Zipp inched closer to him, “W-well, can’t I just take the mare I love on a little date?”

Zipp moved in a little closer, she leaned onto Hitch and whispered in his ear, “I know you’re hiding something and I will figure it out.” She said as she then nibbled his ear.

As soon as she nibbled his ear, Hitch’s hind leg began to kick as if he were a dog who just got scratched on the right spot.

“The four girls and the dragon on the top of the Bighthouse instantly started laughing hard at this, the chat also started to flood with hearts and laughing emojis, showing that all the viewers were loving it.

“Z-Zipp, I told you not to do that!” Hitch shouted, but he wasn’t mad, his face was completely flushed, and wasn’t able to look Zipp in the eyes.

”Awwww, did my little Hitchie-poo get a little too flustered because of me? We have been dating for six years now and I am still able to get you to blush.” Zipp said as she kissed him on the cheek.

Hitch was about to say something, but a seagull swooped down and landed on his head. The seagull chirped a bit and Hitch’s eyes widened a bit.

Zipp looked at him puzzled and then out of nowhere, three crabs carrying a cake came to them and placed the cake in front of them.

“I told Pipp to wait till I gave her the signal.” Hitch hissed at the seagull, the seagull just chirped at him, and Hitched just looked right at the top of the Brighthouse with a scowl on his face.

Pipp knew he wasn’t able to see her from that distance, but she was able to see the scowl from the cameras and all she could do was smile nervously.

“This cake looks delicious, Zipp said as she got the knife from another crab.

“Wait, hold on Zipp, before you cut into the cake, I just want to know something,” Hitch shouted as soon as Zipp was about to make the first cut.

“Uuhh, what is it, Hitch?” Zipp asked quizzically.

“D-do you love me, as in, if you had the choice to be with me forever and possibly have a family one day, would you love to?” Hitch asked softly, he was clearly nervous and was not able to look Zipp in the eyes as he proposed the question.

At this Zipp laughed a little, before responding, still giggling a little, “You know very well that I love you very much. Would I want to start a family one day? I don’t know, but if one day I do decide to have a filly or a foal, I would love for them to be ours, plus we already have Sparky, he is practically my son by this point and I do love him as if he is my son.” Zipp nuzzled Hitch, which Hitch lovingly accepted.

With that said, Zipp then went ahead and started to cut the cake, but she was surprised as she felt something hard. Confused, she cut around the hard object and took it, she was shocked to see what she found.

“Well, why don’t we make things more official?” Hitch asks as Zipp took out a small box.

Zipp opened the box and saw a familiar-looking ring, “When I asked the Queen for her blessing to ask you to marry me, she gave me this ring and told me to give it to you once I felt like the time was right,” Hitch said as she looked at Zipp.

Zipp looked at Hitch in shock, as he got up and took the box from her, and kneeled down at her, “Princess Zepharyna Storm, would you do the honors of marrying me, officially joining both Zephyr Heights and Maretime Bay as one and allowing me to become your prince?”

Without hesitation, Zipp instantly tackled Hitch to the ground and gave him a massive kiss. The Sheriff of Maretime Bay was not expecting this reaction and was shocked by the sudden affection that Zipp was giving him.

As his mind caught up to what just happened, he leaned onto her and kissed her back, he wrapped his hooves around her and brought her closer to him.

Zipp feeling Hitch pull her closer to him, she let herself down onto him, now resting on top of him.

As their lips part, in a daze, Hitch looked into Zipp's eyes lovingly, “I take it that's a—” Hitch was about to ask before being cut off by Zipp

“It’s a yes, my prince,” Zipp said eagerly and with tears of joy in her eyes as she rested herself on him.

Hitch chuckled a little as he heard her call him “her prince,” but he didn’t mind; he just continued to hug his new fiance.

The four girls just watched the two in the livestream, they squealed at the couple, especially Pipp who was just celebrating the fact that her older sister was actually going to get married and not be a lonely grumpy mare.

As Zipp laid on Hitch, she then brought her mouth close to Hitch’s ear and spoke, “It’s a good thing you asked me to marry you, because now it’s a good time to tell you, I’m pregnant.”

At this, Hitch froze, and the girls at the Brighthouse also froze, with Pipp nearly falling from the air, thankfully Izzy caught her with her magic, and the chat also went quiet as everypony was processing what Zipp just said.
