Heart Souls: The Loss of Harmony
Chapter 43
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe sun, ready to set, as the sky turned orange. Ponies from the streets prepare the town's nightlife, as some stores would open and some would close, others prepare for work, and others would go home. Guards change shifts, while others finish up their day.
" It's peaceful." Bright reminisced and watched the village from a bench near the fountain, alone.
He'd see ponys greet each other and have a day of peace, not worrying about war and chaos.
A mare would approach and sit beside him. A fellow knight who had a soft voice.
" This is the future we were fighting for, is it not?" Bubbles asked.
" A future we have not achieved. Yes." was his reply.
Bubbles would lean at his side and hold his hoof. "This place, it's perfect, is it not? It's tempting to stay here instead of the world we live in." She then looked into his eyes, trying to look for answers. "Is it selfish to stay?" she asked.
Doubts in his mind still cloud his judgments. Who should he really trust?
He'd give a hug to Bubbles and try to make her feel safe.
" I'm sorry. To tell you the truth, I too wish to stay. But we have a duty."
"I know... I just... wanted it off my chest. My duty as a knight is still my priority. Our priority." She'd give him a look of confidence and give a heartfelt kiss to Bright.
" Thank you."
At the school of friendship, students began to go their separate ways, except for Cross and Bluebell, who are still finishing up for their enrollment.
"Do we really have to go to school and work as well?" Bluebell asked while lazily filing up her enrollment papers.
" If we want that spell learned, that's one of her requirements. And aren't you excited? Not only are we students of the school of friendship, but we are personally being lectured by Starlight Glimmer herself!" Cross excitedly explained.
" I am excited about Starlight Glimmer, but not going back to this school," Bluebell pouted. " So what do I write in my birthplace and birthdate?" she asked.
Above Filthy Rich Manor, a lone pegasi sits atop the building, watching the sunset. Memories, good and bad, would be remembered, making him wonder what the point of all this.
The cold breeze of the night would slowly try to lull the pegasi to sleep, making him yawn and heavy-eyed. But the stallion would stubbornly stay awake and wait for the night to come.
Clank.
He heard something falling from behind.
There she sees Apple struggling to climb up the roof.
It took Treasure a bit to process whats happening before taking action. "... Holy shit, Apple!" He quickly fluttered towards her and carefully lifted her up beside him.
The mare was shaken and would look to her master, thankfully. " T-Thank you kindly for your rescue."
" What're ya thinkin!? You could've gotten yerself killed!" He scolded the mare.
" Forgive me! I didn't mean too. I mean... Even though you said you wished to be alone. I was still worried and wished to check upon you. Maybe perhaps I could accompany you? That is, if you... You don't mind me?" She sheepishly asked.
Treasure could only look at her in wonder and question her motives. But she was already here, and the view would be a waste if ye viewed it alone. " Fine, let's watch the night together then."
The two sat together and watched the sun slowly sink at a distance.
"... Hey, Apple. I know we haven't talked a lot and we aren't really that close and all. But..." Treasure somewhat stopped and reluctantly continued what he wanted to ask. Perhaps he was shy or thought he was intruding, but one thing is for sure: a lot is going on in his mind. " Never mind..."
The mare would lean at him, which caught Treasure off guard, as he looked at her, Apple was flushed in red. He knows it took quite the courage for the mare to be this brave and forward.
" I-I... I don't mind... Whatever that is you want to ask of me that is," the flustered mare insisted.
Hearing that, Treasure felt relieved in a way. He doesn't know why he felt relieved, but he felt something heavy has been taken away from him. He continued to look at the mare in awe and wander, making him more curious about her. The mare, in return, would try to hold her look towards him, making her heart beat even faster, turning the mare even redder by the second.
The stallion noticed that he had been staring at the mare for quite a while now, which made him embarrassed at how he acted in front of her. " AHMM. Um, sorry. I didn't mean to stare at you for that long." The stallion flustered.
" I... I don't mind," she said, but in actuality her limit of embarrassment was already overflowing.
The stallion would try to look away and look at the distance once more, trying to calm down and subside the awkward situation he put himself into.
" Hey, Apple... Do you really like the name I gave you?" he asked. But the mare seems to take long to answer.
He sees the mare looking at the distance as well, contemplating the question he asked.
" At first, honored. But as time went on with everyone, it became important to me."
The two looked at each other again, stealing a glimpse of what they really felt with each other.
The lights from the village would soon light up one by one, grabbing the two's attention.
" Is it selfish to ask? Why are they not like us?" Apple pondered.
" I too think it's unfair." He looked at the village with mixed feelings.
" Perhaps it is selfish... Sometimes... Sometimes it's okay to be selfish, right?" He asked.
The mare would hold Treasure's hoof and look at his eyes deeply. Eyes locked, and both slowly drifted close to each other.
" Then... Can I be selfish for a bit?" she asked.
Treasure would just look at her. He neither agreed nor denied, but his body said otherwise.
As their lips closed in,
" AAACHOOO!!" Apple sneezed, ruining the emersion between the two.
She couldn't forgive herself for ruining this special moment that she courageously built up for. She was sad and embarrassed for putting them in this now awkward situation. She wished that she could shrink to the point that she'd vanished. But before her thoughts would bombard her with worry, something warm wrapped around her.
Treasure's wings would give warmth and protection from the night's cold embrace.
Treasure would give the kiss to Apple and make memories viewing the charming lights of Ponyville at night, while Quilt, who was alone looking through an open window beneath them, contemplating the decisions and actions she has taken, stares at the same Ponyville, glared by light.
