Nine years have passed since the defeat of Nightmare Moon and the restoration of the Elements of Harmony. Equestria has stood through a peace preserved by the princesses and the wielders of the Elements in all this time, but slowly as they grow less and less needed, Twilight Sparkle and her friends drift away from each other, growing more and more distant and indulged in their own lives as they were before they had come together for the first time.
Then to one fateful day, all their most horrid secrets come to surface in the face of a whole new breed of terror; each other.

Can they be reunited, so that once again Princess Celestia may raise the sun over a peaceful land?
