Equestria Girls: The Poisonous Friendship
It was a bright sunny day in the city of Canterlot, people had walked around the area and the school of Canterlot High had been further crowded with incoming students heading to the entrance.
Inside the school, there were many students walking around the hallways going there one way. But among them all, there was music playing in one of the rooms. The person playing this music was none other then the Rainbooms themselves. They eventually stopped playing and the girl with pink skin and poofy pink hair said.
"Wow! That was amazing!"
"Amazing? It was AWESOME Pinkie Pie!" The girl with blue skin and rainbow hair emphasized with excitement. Her name was Rainbow Dash
"Darlings, no offense but can you lower your voices? It's still a classroom and music class will start soon." The girl with white hair
"Rarty's right you two, plus the cover we performed isn't even finished yet." The girl with purple skin and navy blue hair that had noticeable pink streaks.
"Plus even though we won the battle of the bands, this song cover CHS is promoting is the next level especially since it can be released worldwide." The girl in the blonde hair and cowgirl hat added, she was Applejack.
"And we may have to be a bit more creative on this song we're doing this time as well." The girl in pink hair added. Her name was Fluttershy.
"There's also the rules on the Cover poster. We have to follow those too." A girl with yellow skin and red hair that had yellow stripes said. She was the reformed bully Sunset Shimmer.
"By the way, which song should we remix or remake?" Rainbow Dash asked
'That's the bigger question RD. Plus we have to make sure it's proper with the lyrics and tempo." Pinkie replied.
As the girls conversed, there was someone who was overhearing their conversation. It was a boy with purple skin and green spikey hair and green eyes. It was none other then Spike Sparkle, Twilight Sparkle's adoptive little brother. He only gave a look of dismay as while he had good vocal skills, that area was already taken in the girls band. However, he lacked talent on a instrument. Knowing it was out of his control, he only walked out the area.
As Spike walked in the halls, he looked at the poster and saw it's rules
1. Song cover must be in the person's voice
2. Can be done physically or submitted online at the CHS page.
3. Song can also include dance choreography if instrument is an issue.
4. Song can also be based from a famous show or movie.
5. Some lyrics in your song can be created based on the original.
6. The winning song will be announced on the day after all performances both digital and physical.
7. Animations and use of animating is allowed as long as it is used appropriately.
Spike only gave look of dismay and walked away. As he did, he went to the library and used one of the school computers to help make some animations in the meantime as he did this to kill time. He managed to create an impressive animation of a character who almost looked like him. The avatar Spike created on his animation looked to be under torment from seven female figures covered by black shadows.
"This sucks." Spike said in dismay.
As Spike animated, he looked and used the web browser to search for a song that he could use but found none. However, as Spike looked, he saw a song that was on the Number One animated hits list. Upon looking at the title, it was a song he was actually familiar with. It was a song from his favorite adult animated show Hazbin Hotel. The song was called Poison.
Spike continued animating and finished and said "Now for the choreography."
(At the Sparkle Home)
Spike was at home and as he sat in his room, playing some video games. However, as Spike was playing, he was suddenly shook from loud sounds coming from the garage in the yard. Spike turned his gaming system off and looked out the window and slightly frowned.
It was his adoptive sister performing with her friends in the yard and they managed to finish their song. He looked down as he knew how famous they were and tried to get his mind off it and gave a look of jealous frustration. He closed his window and after they left the garage. Spike used a mic and began to work on his vocals. While it hurt it actually made some progress. Spike then moved some of the stuff the girls left. He began to get ready and set his phone to record and began to dance to the song he chose at the library.
Spike, having found a black shirt, dark green pants and black shoes had began to dance and somewhat provocatively move his body around but made sure it was not that suggestive and as Spike danced and sang, he sang
As Spike sang and danced to the beat of the song using different lyrics due to some being curses or suggestive, he began to slowly shed tears and the camera continued to record his moves and singing.
As Spike continued to sing, he continued to dance more and sing with more emotion and slowly shed some tears. However, Spike made sure he didn't do anything that suggestive as he continued dancing.
Spike eventually finished his song and dancing and stopped recording. He then said
"I hope this works."
As Spike worked and edited the song. He added some effects to the song and used the animation he did at school to put his voice and dancing to create his music.
"Spike! Is everything ok in there?" Twilight Velvet, Spike's adoptive mother said
"Yeah mom, I'm fine." Spike replied
"Ok sweetie, just tone it down. Your father's a but busy." Twilight Velvet said
After that, Spike added some finishing touches and said
"This may feel harsh, but at least it fits my songs theme."
Spike then considered posting it on the CHS page but gave a look of hesitation...... Until he said
"Well, better safe than sorry."
(The next day)
At Canterlot High, the day of the cover song event was underway and a bunch of students were attending. They went to the gymnasium. And there were many who performed. Spike meanwhile went to sit in the audience at the far back of the seats.
The first who attended were Snips and Snails who worked in their rapping and had some applause.
The next was Trixie and the illusions who has actually shown a great performance and this time with a proper new song compared to the same ones they played previously.
Then the next group was the Dazzlings. They had shown to be equally on par and talented in vocals with their song Under our Spell.
Then, the next turn was of none other then the Rainbooms. Who sang their legendary famous song Shine Like Rainbows.
The audience applauded and cheered as Principal Celestia got in the stage and said
"Thank you all for performing. However, there is one last performance that a young student here decided to upload digitally. Quite surprisingly, he was the only one to do so. Here is the student's song!"
Principal Celestia went to the screen player and began to play the video.
The audience watched in anticipation at who would be on the screen and after a few seconds the song played.
The video showed a familiar green haired young boy in an all black shirt and shoes with dark green shorts with chains in his hands. The music started and the person revealed their face. It was Spike and he stared to sing and dance.
The Rainbooms looked also and gave shocked looks at who it was.
"SPIKE?!" They all said in shock at who the person was in the video.
The scene began to surprise the audience as they saw Spike dancing and showing quite amazing skills as some of his movements depicted him being held down, hurt, talked over or ignored by seven female figures that looked familiar. This left the audience a bit shocked and intrigued and amazed at his singing.
Sunset Shimmer, upon seeing the female figures mentally or emotionally hurting Spike, gave a closer look and said in shock.
"Wait? Is that us?!"
This also caused Twilight and the others to look closer and give looks of shock upon seeing the female teen girls in the video torment Spike who vaguely resembled them in particular.
As Spike sang, he watched himself sing and gave a look of dismay as the audience saw his eyes well up a bit as he sang, seeing the female girls torment him, with the one in purple hair pushing him down and the fiery red haired girl smirking and verbally abusing him.
"Wow, the kid looks hurt." One student said in worry
"Yeah, those girls are totally wailing on him!" Another added
"Plus those mean girls must be worse if he's describing them like this." A female student added
To the Rainbooms, they were left speechless at how Spike was seemingly describing them in his music video. Did they really hurt him this badly? They even saw flashing images of Spike being hurt and abused physically and verbally by them in some frames of the video. One even showed a familiar girl with rainbow hair pushing him down with a cold smirk.
Rainbow Dash only gave a look of disbelief at her video counterpart and said in defense
"I never do that to the squirt!"
This time as Spike sang and danced, the next few scenes show it wasn't just him being abused, the next frame showed him being chained down with the seven female figures only looking down on him in the background covered in shadows.
This song for more emotional and intense as Spike cried some tears from the abuse he was going through. This hasn't gone unnoticed by the students or judges, who looked quite surprised at his emotional state. Even the Rainbooms were in disbelief at Spike continuing to sing as more frames show the female figures degrading or abandoning him.
"Is this how Spike has been ever since?" Sunset said in worry
"Ah know we never acknowledged the little tyke, but I didn't know it was this bad." Applejack said in disbelief
"Oh the poor darling." Rarity said in guilt
More scenes show Spike either below chained as the female figures mentally abuse him along with with Spike dancing with good choreography and even doing a moon walk and flip as he sang his heart out.
This time Spike sang lowly and in a broken tone and voice as he looked at the ground with tears in his eyes and the final scene shows him burning a photo of him and the female figures with the camera zooming in on the burning picture burning away into nothing but ashes.
The video went black as the audience slowly applauded and gave Cheers at Spike's song. Spike meanwhile only looked down at himself. Eventually, the cheers died down and Principal Celestia came on the stage
"Now that surely was a performance. But there can only be one winner. The winner is.......Spike and his cover of Poison!"
The audience cheered as the Rainbooms were left surprised at Spike's video beating them. Spike however, was reluctant to come on stage but ultimately did so. He held the trophy as the audience cheered at his video performance. Spike then walked down off the stage and left the gym. As he did, he saw the girls but ignored them, but the moment they saw him, they went over to him.
"Spike, wait!" Twilight said
Spike however ignored them further and continued to walk away until Rainbow Dash and Applejack blocked his way
"Oh no you don't Spike, what was that about?" Rainbow Dash said
"What?" Spike said
"Tha song ya sent Spike." Applejack asked
"It's just a song. Not my fault you can't handle criticism." Spike replied
Spike's blunt reply shocked the girls as Twilight said
"Spike what's gotten into you?"
"Since when do you care?" Spike replied
The girls were left surprised at Spike's hostility to them and he said further
"I've always tried to get you to notice and care. But the reality is you never did. NONE of you cared. It's only fair that I show my talent my way considering I was practically nothing to you."
This left the girls speechless as Spike pushed Rainbow and walked out in a huff, leaving them in disbelief.
"Spike wait!" Fluttershy said in worry
They watched as Spike walked out.
(The next day)
At school, Twilight had got on the bus and saw the girls and sat next to Pinkie on the right side as she and Applejack were there while Rarity, Sunset, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash had been on the left side. Applejack asked
"Is Spike doing ok?"
Twilight only sighed and said in worry "I don't know, he didn't want to come on the bus and he looked pretty upset. In fact he only ignored me, Shining and my parents the whole day."
"I'm worried about the poor dear. I didn't mean to neglect him." Rarity said in worry.
As soon as the bus reached the school, the girls got off and entered the school of Canterlot High. However as they walked in the halls, they noticed some of the students giving glares of disgust or disbelief. This hadn't gone unnoticed by the girls who saw the looks of stink eye.
"Um what's with everybody?" Pinkie asked
"It's like they want to attack us!" Fluttershy said in fear.
As the girls walked in the halls, one student pointed at them and said
"Look it's those mean girls from that green haired kid's music video!"
"They have serious nerve showing up here!" A female student added
"Those Rainbooms should be called Rainbores!" Another said
As the girls were jeered at, they only gave looks of dismay as they were jeered at as they went to their classes. Rarity had even said
"I guess Spikey-Wikey's music video became TOO liked."
(A few hours later)
The girls were together and walking in the hallways.
"Well now what do we do?" Rainbow Dash asked
"I don't know. But I think we should talk with Spike and smooth things over with him." Twilight said
"I dunno sugarcube, Spike made it a bit clear he doesn't want us around him." Applejack said reluctantly
"Plus he might still be angry over us neglecting him." Sunset added
As they were going to meet in the music room to debate what to do. However, they were met with an unexpected sight....
Spike was in the room. And he was singing, only this time he was singing with more emotion and danced with some good moves such as a flip and somersault along with a spin.
(The part Spike sings is at 1:47. Song belongs to rightful owner. I will remove if needed)
A knock was heard and Spike saw the girls entering and giving looks of surprise at his singing said
"What do you want?"
"Spike! That was amazing!" Pinkie said upon seeing Spike's choreography.
"Doesn't really answer my question." Spike said
"Spike. we're here because of that video you posted for the cover song contest." Twilight said
"Again. It's just a song." Spike replied
"Spike, All the students were able to piece that those girls in the video hurting you was us. Plus it was evident when we saw it too." Sunset pointed out
"Is there something wrong Spike?" Twilight asked
"No." Spike said
"Spikey Wikey please tell us what's the matter." Rarity asked in worry.
"Forget it! You didn't care before! Why would you suddenly care now?!" Spike shouted.
"Spike we-"
"Oh! Is it because now that I sang that song of you guys hurting me your suddenly going from liked to now hated?!" Spike further shouted
"Spike calm down!" Twilight tried to say
"No Twilight! You made it clear they were your friends. I missed spending time with you but it was always them you made time for. NEVER me! Not to mention letting miss Queen Bee over there around! So if anything....wish granted." Spike said in anger, even pointing at Sunset, who gave a look of shame.
This statement shocked the girls and Twilight as Spike said "Now can you go away? I don't want to see any of you right now and I'm busy practicing."
The girls wanted to argue, to say something, but seeing that Spike didn't want see them. They left the room in silence. As they went outside, they only gave looks of guilt and sadness at Spike rejecting them.
"Oh man, I feel terrible for the poor darling." Rarity said
"Me too, I can't believe the squirt was hurt and we didn't know it." Rainbow said in guilt
"If only we can make it up to him." Sunset said in dismay.
The girls were left debating on how to make it up to the poor boy. As they did, Spike was seen in the music room practicing his vocals. As he did, some tears dropped from his eyes due to escalation before mixed with the emotion of the song.

This fic was somewhat inspired by Equestria Girls: Dragon Rocks - Fimfiction
I actually am a BIG fan of Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel and plan to make a story involving it soon. For now, I wrote this fic as I felt the song Poison could reflect on Spike's neglect and abuse.

The next few days later. Spike was in his room sleeping. As he did, his alarm clock on his phone had gone off.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
Spike groaned as he grabbed his phone and turned the alarm off. He slowly got out of his bed and yawned in annoyance.
"Another day of misery." Spike said to himself.
Spike began to first wash up and change from his pajamas to his normal purple shirt and green shorts. He then got up and went downstairs and saw Twilight talking to Velvet and Night Light. They turned and noticed Spike and went to their adoptive son.
"Spike? Sweetie? Are you ok?" Twilight Velvet asked in concern
"Son, we heard what happened." Night Light added
"I'm fine." Spike said as he sat down to eat dinner.
This only increased the worry of both adults as Spike ate, even Twilight and Shining noticed his bitter tone. Twilight then pulled her phone out and began to text on it.
Eventually, Spike finished his breakfast and got ready for school. He grabbed his bag and left the house, with Twilight eventually following.
(At Canterlot High)
Spike was in class listening to Mr. Cranky Doodle. As Spike wrote his notes, he also secretly began to write some ideas on his next cover song.
"Alright class, turn to page 10 pf your textbooks." Mr. Cranky Doodle said
The students did so and followed the lecture. At the same time Rainbow Dash saw Spike and texted the girls on her phone, which was in her hand under her desk.
(A few hours later)
It was lunch and the girls continued their plan, they were in the gymnasium and setting some things up.
In the meantime, Spike was in the halls texting his friend Thorax.
"Hey Thorax, you busy? If not, meet me in the music room."
As Spike walked to his destination: The music room. As Spike entered, he waited for Thorax to answer, until he saw the music classroom door open. It was Spike's friend Thorax. He wore black shirt, green white lined shoes and dark blue pants. Thorax had light blue eyes and dark black hair
"Hey Spike, you doing another song cover?" Thorax asked
Spike nodded and said "Yeah, this time it's a duet. You wanna join?"
Thorax was a bit reluctant but he ultimately complied and asked "what's the song?"
The Rainbooms were meanwhile almost finished setting up the stage and Pinkie said
"And done!"
The girls were done and looked at their work. The stage was set up there were tables with food along with some seats. There was also a large banner and the girls smiled.
"Now we need to get Spike here." Twilight said
"But how?" Fluttershy asked
The girls began to think on how to get Spike to see their apology to him. Sunset had an idea and said
"I have a plan girls."
Back in the music classroom, Spike and Thorax were busy singing another song cover. This time It was another song that had Spike a bit emotional. His phone was recording via on a podium and as Spike and Thorax sang, he did some choreography and dance moves with Thorax.

As they sang, Spike and Thorax decided to add some flare and used a smoke bomb (which Spike borrowed from Trixie) to create some smoke and the moment it dissipated, Spike wore a magician like costume while Thorax had a pink tuxedo.
They eventually finished and Spike finished recording the song on his phone and added some effects and editing on the video.
Thorax, despite his role, looked in worry upon seeing Spike's look said "By the way, are you ok Spike?"
Spike nodded and said "Yeah, why do you ask?".
Thorax in a tone of reluctance said with a worried look
"Ever since you won the cover song contest against the Rainbooms, you've been either sad or angry every time I mention them. And after that, when they started losing their fans, you started to make covers targeting them specifically."
Spike gave an unreadable look and after a few seconds said "They're not my friends. Not before. Not then.....not now."
Thorax gave a look of pity to his best friend and was about to say something...until the PA system Spike.
"Spike Sparkle, please report to the Principal Celestia immediately. Repeat, Spike Sparkle please make your way to Principal Celestia's office immediately."
Spike gave a look of surprise as Thorax also gave a look of confusion.
"Me? I guess the music video thing did go too far." Spike said
"You want some company?" Thorax asked
Spike nodded and they walked out the music room and made their way through the halls to the principal's office. As soon as they reached the office, they saw Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna with expecting looks.
"Hello you two." Principal Celestia greeted politely
"I assume you know why your both here?" Vice Principal Luna asked
Spike shook his head as Vice Principal Luna looked to Thorax and said
"Thorax, can you step outside for a minute?"
Thorax was reluctant but Spike gave an acknowledging nod and left the room. As soon as he did, they looked back at Spike.
"Spike, we were told your cover songs you've been posting had some material targeting some students here in CHS. Is this true?" Principal Celestia asked
Spike answered "No. Their just material to fit the themes of the songs I chose."
Vice Principal Luna however replied "Are you sure? Because we were shown the Poison song and those girls looked like the Rainbooms. Is something wrong?"
"That's just coincidental. I even had to add some warning texts. The cover song at the contest was a bit rusty." Spike answered with some denial.
Seeing that Spike was too persistent with his refusal, the two principals looked at each other and Principal Celestia said
"We had a feeling you would say that, that's why a student asked us if you could go to the gymnasium."
Spike was confused and asked "Why?"
Vice principal Luna said "We don't know but they said they want to see you."
Spike was confused and said "They?"
Spike was wondering who the two principals were talking about and asked
"Who was it?"
They didn't answer, instead they shrugged as Principal Celestia said
"We don't know, but they told us to tell you to go to the gym."
By this point, Spike left the office and saw Thorax, who asked
"So what happened?"
Spike replied
"I don't know, they said I had to go to the gymnasium since somebody wanted to see me."
Spike began to head to the gym with Thorax and as they reached the doors, Spike breathed a bit and slowly opened the door. As soon as it opened, the lights were off.
"Hello?!" Spike shouted as he and Thorax got in.
As they entered, the door closed suddenly.
"Huh?! Who closed the door?!" Thorax said in fear.
As they were more confused suddenly, the lights went on and suddenly the girls and students appeared and shouted
"SURPRISE!!!!"
"WHAT THE HECK?!" Spike shouted as soon as they all shouted.
"Hey Spike! Welcome to the party!" Pinkie announced with excitement.
"Party?" Spike asked
"Our We're sorry Spike and we hope you forgive us party! We made it just for you!" Pinkie Pie further explained
A large banner and a bunch of streamers flew in the air as the banner opened saying
WE'RE SORRY SPIKE!
Spike, believing it was a mere joke said while heading to the door.
"Yeah. I'm gonna go."
However, Rainbow Dash and Applejack managed to block his way.
"Come on Spike, at least give it a chance." Rainbow Dash tried to convince him.
"Please sugarcube, we wanna make this right." Applejack added with empathy
Spike wanted to go, but they kept blocking his path and Rainbow Dash even had to catch up rapidly as he tried to go to the exit. Spike, in frustration said.
"Fine. But after this I'm going."
The two nodded and began to lead Spike around. Thorax has walked with his friend and gave a look of interest and amazement while Spike gave a somewhat happy smile. As they had fun, the girls noticed Spike's joy return.
"Girls I think it's working." Rarity said
"Good, this way we can show Spike how sorry we are to him." Twilight said
The girls got ready for their gift to Spike and got their instruments.
As Spike walked around, he only wondered if this party they were throwing for him was genuine and got a drink of soda. As Spike drank it, he heard a microphone be tapped and saw Twilight and Sunset get ready to speak.
"Hello students of CHS! Today you might be wondering what your all doing here?" Sunset spoke on her mic.
There were some students who students while done gave some cold looks at her due to having seen Spike's music video, though some of the fans cheered a bit in turn as Twilight continued
"We're here to honor this party for a very special person to us. This is to show how sorry we are to him and to tell him how much of an importance he is to us."
The girls signaled a spotlight to aim at Spike, who was sitting alone until he noticed he was in the spotlight.
"Huh?!" Spike said upon noticing the light on him.
The other students looked at the confused green haired teen as Sunset said
"Spike, all your life we always took advantage of you and neglected you your whole life. You were always there for us but we were never there for you. This song is dedicated to you."

As the girls sang, Spike saw the students cheering and Thorax was also enjoying the show as well. He was a bit reluctant to join the festivities, until he saw the girls using screen player to show the moments he had helped them. For example, one showed Spike helping Fluttershy with her animals, another photo showed him with Applejack at Sweet Apple Acres helping around with Granny Smith, Big Macintosh and Apple Bloom. A few more photos showed Twilight and Spike bonding together and ended with them in a full photo shot together.
Spike saw the screen and gave a small smile but was left conflicted on the friendship he had with Twilight and the others and on the things they did to him. Eventually Spike, with a look of regret walked away, with the girls eventually finishing the song. The audience cheered and the Rainbooms bowed, until Sunset noticed Spike was gone.
"Huh? Where did Spike go?" Sunset said
The students and Thorax also looked and noticed Spike was gone from the gym.
"He was just here a second ago." Rainbow Dash added
"Maybe the little guy's in the bathroom?" Applejack said in curiosity.
"Or maybe he left." Rarity further countered
"I guess this didn't work. Let's go girls, we blew it." Twilight said in sadness.
"Twi come on we-" Pinkie tried to say, but Twilight cut her off.
"No Pinkie, we blew it with Spike. It's official, we were never his friend and we deserved it with that music video he posted of us at the contest. Let's go. Spike was right, we are frauds." Twilight said in sadness and guilt
The girls and students gave looks of pity for Twilight as she walked off the stage. Though just before the others could leave. The spotlights came on them. Fluttershy noticed this and said
"Huh? Why are the spotlights on us now?"
The girls were confused and wondered what was going on. Until they heard somebody singing. They looked at the person and suddenly, they came into view. They saw none other then Spike with a microphone singing.

As Spike sang the first part, he lended a hand to Twilight, who gave a smile back and took it as Spike sang, even some of the Rainbooms joined in too.
The song Spike was singing had touched the hearts of the students, including Thorax who saw his friend let go of his grudge. Eventually the song stopped and Spike said to the girls
"I forgive you."
Twilight, with tears in her eyes, hugged Spike. The Rainbooms also joined the hug and the fans cheered at their reconciliation. Eventually, they broke the hug and Spike said in guilt
"I'm sorry about the music video. I guess I let my jealousy and anger get to me."
The girls however smiled and each nodded with acknowledgement.
"It's ok Spike, we deserved it for how we treated you." Sunset said
"Plus we never should have neglected or hurt you that way. I guess we did kinda deserve it." Rainbow Dash added
"And from now on, we promise we'll treat as if you were one of us." Applejack promised
Spike nodded as the audience cheered at their friendship being renewed. Even Thorax whistled in approval and acknowledgement.
(After school)
Spike was back home and was a bit reluctant to speak to Twilight Velvet and Night Light. Until Twilight have a reassuring hand in his back. Spike then entered and said
"Mom? Dad? You home?"
The two adults looked at Spike and Twilight Velvet said
"Spike? Your home, is everything ok?"
"I am, but I need to say something important." Spike replied.
The two looked at Spike, waiting for his explanation before Spike sighed in some air and said
"I know sorry isn't enough. And what I did was wrong, from borderline slandering and defaming Twilight and her friends to ignoring you two, Twilight, Shining and her friends all at once. I know you don't want to forgive me but-"
Night Light however cut Spike off and said
"Spike, we weren't mad. We were a bit disappointed and worried after Twilight told us what was going on with you."
Twilight Velvet further said to Spike
"And sweetie, we understand you were upset, but what you did really hurt your sister and her friends."
Spike only gave a look of shame until Velvet continued.
"But we see you had a fair reason since Twilight always kept neglecting you for her friends. And we did too. We're sorry too sweetie, can you forgive us?"
Spike gave a small smile and nodded as he hugged his adoptive parents. Twilight watched the scene with a smile and said
