//-------------------------------------------------------// Swapping And Speechless -by DATONETWIxDASHFAN- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// -Insert Opening FiM Theme Here- //-------------------------------------------------------// -Insert Opening FiM Theme Here- It was a quiet night in Ponyville. The streets were calm and peaceful. The town square was lit up only by the streetlamps as the stars and moon were blocked by the clouds that floated in the sky. In the middle of the square was a panicking figure of a Unicorn as she rushed about. It was almost like she was looking for someone or something. She opened a trash can and looked inside but found nothing. She slammed the lip back on and kept looking until she saw something darting above her and crashing into the square's fountain. She rushed to it and saw a Pegasus pony sitting on top of the fountain, looking dazed and confused as stars swirled around her head. It didn't help that the Pegasus was squirting water from her nose as she knocked over and took the place of the statue's mare. The Unicorn rushed over and used her magic to lift the statue mare back into her place, and the water-spraying Pegasus was now being set back on the ground very carefully... THUD The Unicorn cringed as she watched the pegasus land face-first on the dirt ground, with stars swirling around her head again. The Unicorn was trying her hardest not to burst out laughing, but that's when it hit her as she felt her mouth and not feeling her lips... The Pegasus shook off the stars and was now rubbing her nose. She slowly got back up and saw the Unicorn freaking out and her magic becoming wild and uncontrollable with a rainbow aura around her horn. The Pegasus got up and rushed towards the panicked Unicorn, who was freaking at the loss of her mouth. The stars and moon finally appeared in the night sky as the clouds parted, the full moon illuminating the two figures. The Pegasus was Twilight, who also had no mouth, while the Unicorn was Rainbow Dash. Twilight rushed over to Dash, but her wings suddenly increased speed, making her crash into Rainbow. The two ponies crashed onto the ground as Twilight landed on top of Dash, their faces close together as their noses touched. The two blushed and muffled at each other as the magic continued to go wild around them, lifting or zapping things nearby. Twilight quickly lowered her head as a magical rainbow beam fired from Rainbow's horn and hit the statue behind, turning it into a Wonderbolt statue. Dash was panicking, but she couldn't understand why her magic was still raging like this. She smacked her horn like someone smacking a dying flashlight, trying to make the light work. But the more she did it, the worse the magic got. She didn't know what to do, and she became more scared of her new magic powers until she saw Twilight's wing snapping its feathers-like fingers at her, making her focus on her. Twilight was glad she got Rainbow's attention and was signaled to stand up, which she did. Both of them stood and faced each other. Twilight sat down and gestured for Dash to start breathing in and try to relax, as she knew that emotions are linked with magic. She didn't know what could happen if the magic was used with more extreme emotions and didn't want to find out. Rainbow took a deep breath and breathed out slowly...only to start freaking out again as she felt her breath hitting the wall inside of her mouth. Her magic started to freak out again, but she quickly snapped out of it as Twilight grabbed her cheeks and muffled her to calm down and breathe. Dash narrowed her eyes and pointed to her mouthless face. Twilight had a deadpan look and pointed to her nose, making Dash realize she could breathe in and out of her nose. She started to calm down, taking slow, deep breaths and releasing them through her nose as the magic settled down. The magic finally settled down, and Twilight released her hold on Dash. Dash started to feel embarrassed and rubbed her hoof against her head. She muffled about how sorry she was for freaking out and never realizing magic was tied to someone's emotions, as Twilight explained just now. Twilight understood her, as she knew Pegasus didn't have magic like Unicorns do, but they did have magic to walk on clouds. The two sat there, trying to remember how they got into this weird situation, until their memories hit them. Twilight remembered now that it all started in the afternoon when Dash dropped by and found her practicing her magic. Dash asked her why she was doing that, as she found magic very simple to use, as shown by how Twilight and other Unicorns always did it so easily with no signs of training. Twilight explained to Dash that magic is like a muscle that needs to be stretched and trained to get better and stronger. So, the more one uses their magic, the better and more robust it will become. Dash was intrigued by this and wanted to know how strong a Unicorn could get. She was surprised and even a bit shocked as Twilight lifted a heavy bookshelf without any problems, and then she showed how far she could toss it by throwing it up into the air. Dash was amazed at the sight, as she had never seen Twilight use her magic in such a way. The bookshelf came back down and was about to hit the floor, but Twilight used her magic to stop and place it back in its place. Twilight went on to explain how magic training is more demanding than standard exercises like Dash is used to and takes a lot of stamina, emotion control, and energy. She didn't know it, but that rubbed Dash the wrong way. Dash told Twilight that regular workouts are more demanding than magic ones because they use the whole body and are more fun and challenging. Twilight snapped, and she said that Dash couldn't know that until she did a magic workout herself. That made Rainbow's feathers ruffle up as she barked back and said the same about routine workouts. The two kept going back and forth until Twilight suggested a way to know whose training was more complicated and demanding. She remembered a specific spell that allowed Pegasus and Unicorns to switch their wings and horns with each other. Dash agrees to the magical swap, and Twilight recites the spell. Dash gets a smug look as Twilight's horn glows a dark purple. The two are engulfed in a white flash of light as their horn and wings pop off and fly to each other. Dash can feel her forehead getting heavy as her purple horn slowly becomes blue. Twilight could feel her back getting heavy as the new weight from Dash's wings was placed on her back. She opened her eyes and saw Rainbow's cyan wings slowly becoming purple. The two entirely switched body parts, which started their workout that each other gave. Twilight remembered how shocked she was and how highly demanding Dash's workout was. She needed to not only fly a certain amount but also work out the wing muscles and make them fly at a specific speed. Twilight had no problem flying at the right speed thanks to her wings belonging to Dash, but it was another story regarding the number of laps. She wasn't sure she could do the 50 laps that Rainbow could. Heck, she remembered doing three before she was a sweating mess. Dash remembered how her magic training went, and oh boy, Dash remembered how much her head hurt and how emotionally drained she was after doing Twilight's workouts. Dash couldn't do any spells like Twilight, only levitate, but that took so much focus and effort, and the more she focused, the more her head hurt. Even lifting a regular book made her tired and dead inside. The two finished their workouts and realized the other's method was more demanding. So they wanted to switch back and agreed not to question each other's workout methods ever again....there was just one problem. Dash needed to undo the spell but didn't know how. Twilight realized what she had done and tried to get Dash to undo the spell by teaching her, but as the sun started to set, Dash still couldn't do it. This caused Twilight to freak out and even begin to blame Dash for getting them into this mess. As she kept yelling at her, Twilight forgot that magic and emotions are linked and, with enough stress, can cause problems—which happened. Dash knows she's a hothead, and sometimes, her emotions can get the best of her. But she never expected her feelings to have this much of an impact. She started to feel awful at herself, believing Twilight's words about how this was her fault. She covered her ears and wanted to escape from Twilight's yelling, only to have her magic go haywire. The magic started to zap things, lifting objects and sending them flying. Some objects were zapped into a flower pot, while others were zapped into other random things. This made Twilight realize what she had done, putting all the blame on Dash for this mess. She quickly calmed her down and told her she wasn't at fault. As she spoke to her, Dash looked at her. Dash started to feel something she had never experienced before in her whole life. Dash started to have a panic attack. Twilight knew this and tried her hardest to get her to calm down. But every time she got close, Dash would run away, screaming at her to stay away. Twilight started to feel frustrated and scared as she watched Dash's magic keep going berserk. She tried her best to calm her down by telling Dash that this wasn't her fault and that she needed her to calm down so they could fix this. Twilight could feel tears forming in her eyes and a lump forming in her throat, as she could tell her words were having no effect. She had never seen Dash act like this, and it started to scare her. She watched her zap the reading table, which became a tree. She couldn't let Dash's magic keep going like this, or it could end badly. She had no choice but to tackle Dash to the floor and try her best to keep her pinned, hoping that would help. It didn't. The magic went crazy, zapping everything around them, as Rainbow's magic was being fueled by her fear of causing problems for others and getting yelled at. She could see and hear Twilight yelling at her, but Dash's running thoughts drowned out the words. As the magic kept going crazy, and Rainbow kept freaking out Twilight decided that drastic measures had to be taken and started to do the only thing that could stop Dash's magic from destroying her home or, worst, Ponyville itself. She needed to make Dash snap out of it, and the only way was to do something she had never done before or wanted to do...she had to slap her. Twilight knew that was a big gamble, as she could easily hurt Dash, and the last thing she wanted was to hurt her. So, with a deep breath and a quick apology, she closed her eyes and gave Rainbow Dash a swift but hard slap on her cheek. Rainbow Dash could feel the sting as her thoughts were being broken. She was now feeling pain in her cheek and her body being pinned down. She opened her eyes and saw Twilight sitting on top of her. Her face had tears running down her eyes, and she was saying something. Whatever it was, Dash couldn't hear it as her running thoughts returned to her, and only one thing kept repeating itself over and over. Shut up. Dash remembered how her anger flared and how she felt a burning rage fill her, as she had never thought Twilight would hurt her. She felt so betrayed; the last thing she wanted to do was stay pinned down like a helpless filly. She could feel her anger boil, and a strange tingling filled her horn. A bright rainbow magical aura filled the room, blinding them and sending Twilight flying across the room. Twilight landed in a heap on the floor. Her vision was blurred, and her head was spinning. She heard something and slowly looked up. Her vision was still blurred, but she could see Rainbow leaning against the wall and feeling the same way. She tried to call out to her, wanting to know if she was okay, but Twilight didn't hear her voice. It sounded very muffled like she had cotton in her ears. As the two ponies recovered from the bright light, they realized what happened as they saw each other mouths. They touched their mouths and didn't find it; it was gone. Twilight couldn't believe it! Dash used a magical spell to remove their mouths from their faces...she was so happy! Dash, a newbie at magic, pulled off a magical spell under so much stress. This means Dash can undo the swap spell. She wanted to tell Dash this but stopped as she could see Dash again having a panic attack. Dash was patting her mouthless face as her eyes were wide open, and her body was shaking. Twilight got up, stumbled, and slowly walked over to Rainbow. She was worried about her and unsure how to calm her down before Dash's magic started acting up again. But before any of that could happen, they heard their voices coming from their sides, making them look. Seeing their mouths on the floor, they just said random things. Before the girls could act, their mouths jumped to the windows and disappeared into the night. Twilight watched Dash run to the window, and with her muffled voice, she screamed for their mouths to get back here. Twilight hurried to Dash's side, wanting to tell her to calm down or another magical outrage could happen again, but Twilight suddenly felt herself going too fast and flying out of the window and into her trash can. Dash saw this, and for the first time, her emotions felt normal and not a mess. She started to laugh at the poor sight that Twilight was in. Dash knew what had happened to Twilight. She must have used her wings to hurry to the window by instinct since she wasn't used to moving around with wings on her back instead of using her teleportation spell. She quickly helped Twilight out of the trash can, and they could see their mouths hopping away into the main square of Ponyville. As they fully remembered how they got here, Dash lowered her head and felt ashamed. She had made this already messy situation worse. She had caused the two of them to lose their mouths, and now they couldn't speak or eat until they found their mouths. But Twilight, on the other hoof, didn't care about her mouth and felt so proud of Rainbow. As she remembered, Dash was not only able to pull a body feature removal spell but also do an animated spell. All that while under a lot of pressure and stress. Twilight started to jump around and cheer for Rainbow, as she knew what she did was a very advanced spell, and only a few ponies could pull that off. She kept hopping around her until she found herself flying in the air with her wings. Twilight quickly believed her instincts kicked in again. She slowly returned to the earth and patted Dash on her back, as she was so proud of her. Rainbow was shocked, not by Twilight flying into the air again, but by what Twilight was mouthing and telling her. Dash couldn't believe it. Twilight was telling her that she was so proud of her. She mouths back, asking why. Twilight explained through her muffling and wing gestures how Dash used two advanced magical spells while her emotions were tossed around, which was incredible. Rainbow could only watch as Twilight kept cheering and praising her, but Dash could feel a strange feeling building up inside her. It felt weird and unfamiliar, but it was warm and pleasant. That's when the horn started to glow, but unlike before, when her magic was going crazy, her magic was soft and gentle. Twilight noticed this and saw the warm glow. Soon, Dash summoned a box of tissues, and Twilight watched as Rainbow grabbed one and wiped her watery eyes. Twilight quickly realized what was happening as Dash was starting to control her magic now and hugged Rainbow tightly, who hugged her back and began to cry into her shoulder. After the two finally calmed down, they muffled each other, thinking of a plan to get their mouths back. Their ears perked up as they heard their voices somewhat not too far from them, leaving the square. Twilight and Dash headed to the source of their voices, but they had little trouble getting there. Twilight kept going too fast, thanks to her wings, while Dash kept teleporting because of her horn as she kept landing at different places across Equestria that she visited. Heck, she found herself back in the dragon's cave and trying to teleport back to Ponybille as the dragon unleashed a vast fireball toward her. Twilight crashed into a clothesline and spun around it so fast that she found herself wearing a dress with an ugly hat when it released her and crashed into the dirt street. Joining her side as she returned with her teleportation spell, Dash was covered in black soot from the dragon's fire. The two looked at each other and started laughing at each other. Twilight removed the dress and hat while Rainbow dusted off her scoot-covered body. They found themselves near the town hall, and Twilight recognized the small part of the area. She gestured this to Dash, who only tipped her head in confusion. Twilight pointed to the area with the long pink fence. Twilight could hear her voice before she could do any more gestures. The two turned to see their mouths on the grassy ground and reacting to how they first met when Twilight arrived in Ponyville...of course, their mouths were saying random words or phases, nothing they could understand. Twilight and Rainbow quickly ran to their mouths, jumping on them and holding them down. They finally caught their mouths and could finally undo both spells. Dash still feared that she wouldn't be able to pull off the spell, but Twilight reassured her that it would be okay, that she was beside her and would help her. Rainbow couldn't help but feel safe and secure at those words. Twilight started to mumble the spell to Rainbow as the two held their mouths. As she mumbled, Twilight's mouth began to speak normally, which caught them off guard. Dash listened as Twilight's mouth told her what she was trying to tell her back at the library house. She told her she was so sorry and didn't mean to blame her and put so much pressure on her. She didn't mean for this to happen and was ready to make it up to her for hitting her as well. She said she hated and regretted slapping her and even told her she would gladly take a slap on the cheek for making her feel so bad. Dash felt her emotions go haywire as her horn started to glow, and her magic began to spark with the tingling sensation again. As she held her mouth and watched her speak, she could feel mixed emotions: the anger of being slapped, the fear of her magic going berserk, and the sadness of causing trouble. But she shut her eyes, and her voice started to reply for her. Twilight listened as Dash told her that she forgave her for hitting her, as it was the only way for her to snap out of the panic attack. Dash also told her she shares half the blame for all this, not just Twilight. She shouldn't have let that comment about magic training and how more demanding it was than typical exercises get to her. She experienced the first hoof that Twilight was right, and her training was more challenging than what Dash was used to. She also told her she would never question her methods again, as it was demanding and tiring. Twilight was surprised that Dash admitted she was right, but she could feel a warmth in her heart as Dash's mouth spoke. Her horn started to glow again as she did, and they felt a strange sensation. With their voices finished speaking, their bodies were engulfed in a rainbow-colored aura. As the light faded, Twilight and Dash opened their eyes and quickly saw each other body parts returned to their respectful places. With the two entirely switched back and their mouths returned, they stood there, looking at each other. As they did, their memories of the day, everything they learned, and how they felt about the other hit them like a sack of bricks. The two blushed madly and couldn't stop staring at each other, the words of their voices echoing in their minds. After a moment of awkward silence, the two girls hugged each other. They leaned back and opened their mouths to speak to each other... Credits Roll (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6ZaCY0sToo&ab_channel=JustBronyM) Author's Note I always wanted to do a Bojack Horseman, no dialogue kind of story and trying to keep it the same form as the show. I dunno If I pulled it off or pulled off the whole "The wrong pony for the job" theme as Rainbow Dash undoing a magical spell is the wrong pony to ask. lol
