Celestia took a seat on one of the stools, giving it a minor squeak as her weight settled on it. It had been a while since she adopted this magical disguise: a cream coated mare with a golden mane with a braid and a blue streak, and a white dress that hugged the curves of this new stockier body more than she thought.
The squeak reminded her that this stool was far from her throne. She had come here, cloaked in anonymity, seeking a taste of ordinary life, a reprieve from the constant pressures of royalty.
While she knew she had given herself quite the figure with how many eyes were on her, the squeak reminded her that it was far from a throne. Tonight, she was not Princess Celestia, beloved ruler of Equestria, but simply a mare looking for a moment of normalcy.
And some fun.
She grumbled for a second as she settled her weight, but put up a smile when the bartender, the handsome unicorn stallion with a light orange coat and white mane, approached.
"What's a pretty mare like you doing alone at a place like this?" he said.
Celestia opened her mouth, as if getting ready to politely address him as just a fellow citizen, and therefore almost forgetting for the real reason she was here.
She then relaxed her posture and smiled.
"I could say the same for you. You're quite dashing yourself, but yet..." she replied.
The bartender let out a snort. "Please. I've seen too much around here. Dating is past me."
"Somepony like you? I'll bet you've got a couple mares over the years though."
Despite his sly face, Celestia could spot a blush attacking his snout. It made her own smirk transform into a genuine smile. She looked around the rest of the place, getting a feel for it.
As quickly as it came, the bartender's blush faded, and a look of unease crept onto his face. "Um... where are my manners?" he asked, nervously trotting closer. He extended his front left hoof forward, his voice turning to a formal tone. "I am Thunder Run, the bartender and owner of the Gleaming Horseshoe. What can I get for you?"
Celestia paused for a moment. While she knew her Alicorn constitution wouldn't let her get properly drunk as these ordinary ponies, that didn't mean she couldn't take a load off her back and enjoy a buzz. Even then, in a bar as high class as this, that was not a question to take lightly. She gave the shelf above the countertop a long look, taking in the array of liquids in all manner of bottles. She was hardly one to down a few shots and call it a night, at least on her own.
She then took a good look at the menu of drinks posted on the wall just to her side, which described their cocktails with such vigor and detail. There was such a wide assortment of drinks called "Canterlot Shilling" and "Equestria Colada", along with names that referred to a dozen different Equestrian cities, that she had trouble choosing one.
Finally, she decided on an old classic. "Surprise me," she said.
"Surprise you, eh?" Thunder Run chuckled. "That's the spirit. Let's see... how about a Moonlight Mare-I-see? It's got a couple fruits and juices, but also a touch of the harder stuff. We'll top it off with a fancy umbrella and even add some dry ice if you want."
A touch of the harder stuff? Celestia was fairly familiar with most alcoholic beverages, so the term was no surprise. What caught her ear was the reference to the "hard stuff" as being part of a mixed drink, not as an additive to a softer drink like ale or a cider. She definitely knew that she could handle it, but she was here for a reason...
"What about something stronger?" she said.
"Stronger?" he said, his eyebrows arching and his face leaning forward. "Something tells me that you don't get drunk that easily."
She merely giggled at this. "It doesn't hurt to try," she added with a wink.
His mouth opened as he rolled his eyes and cocked his head. "Well, there's a number of hard drinks I could make for you," he said, walking away. "I could throw together a Black Widow for you. But as tempting as it is, that might be too strong for a fine mare such as yourself."
He picked up a bottle, shaking it a few times. "This right here is the strongest stuff I have, and if I remember right, only three ponies in here have ever tried it. One of them passed out. Then again, I think one of them had more than one glass... you'd have to have the guts for it."
While she was pretty sure she was still the most powerful being in the world, she had to give props to him for his dare. Little to his knowledge, though, her guts weren't going to fail her tonight.
"So what's the price on that stuff?" she asked. "Is it a pretty bit?"
"Not only that, but the hard stuff's the highest proof," he said, "and since you're in the mood to taste the worst it's got to offer, we'll start out with a shot."
"Oooh, a shot!" she said, trying her best to play the role of the intrigued customer. "How many should we make it?"
"Ten."
Celestia almost lost her smile. She wasn't expecting that answer. "Ten?! Are you nuts? A pony could die drinking ten shots of that stuff!"
Thunder Run only gave her a wry chuckle in reply. "Heh... I thought you were feeling risky."
"Oh, I am feeling risky," she replied. She adjusted herself on the seat, extending her neck, ears perking and tail flowing. She leaned forward, her soft rosy eyes fixated on Thunder Run as her voice grew sultry.
"I want twenty," she said.
He lost his confident smirk and his eyes went wide. His brow wrinkled as he seemed to think through what her request meant. Finally, he nodded. "All right, you want twenty," he said. "We'll make it an even twenty. And then, I promise you... your mouth is going to fall open, and we'll end this game right there."
"Is that right?" Celestia said as he turned away, collecting the needed equipment. "So it'll be a bet of sorts?"
He looked over his shoulder for a moment, raising an eyebrow. "Sure, you can make it a bet," he said, opening a bottle and pouring liquid into a small glass.
She put on her best evil grin, now becoming more enthusiastic about the challenge ahead. "Then I bet you that I can do all twenty."
He put the bottle down and held the glass in his magic aura emitted from his horn. Turning towards her, his face had turned more serious, and he sighed.
"Mare, don't say that like you've been drinking this stuff all day," he said.
"Excuse me?" she replied, tilting her head.
"If you're going to act all innocent," he said as he put the glass down before her, "you could at least make your bet something you actually want, and not just a challenge, like that silly pegasus last year..."
Celestia took a moment to examine the glass, which had a few droplets of its contents pooling at the bottom, and was now resting on a red napkin. It looked no different than a regular glass, and it certainly wasn't giving off any strong scent. Was this really the hardest stuff the Gleaming Horseshoe offered, and yet it was still so tame-looking?
"Look, if you don't want to do this, there's plenty of other things you can have," Thunder Run said, "but don't bet these many shots of straight Neighclear, all right?"
"But I want ten shots of straight Neighclear," she said.
"Yeah? So if you manage to drink them without falling over, what do I get out of this?"
Celestia was now contemplating what kind of bet she could make that would appeal to this stallion. She still wanted to make sure that she didn't make any promises that she couldn't keep, and it would still have to be within reasonable boundaries.
But this was her night, and nobody really knew who she was...
"Let me finish every last one of the shots," she finally said, looking Thunder Run in the eye, "and I'll let you watch me drink them. That's what you'd want, isn't it? The show of the century?"
"The show of the centur—" he started, but cut himself short, his eyes squinting and his brow wrinkling in a mix of incredulity and desire. Finally, he gave her a firm nod. "Yeah. That would be a nice treat. All right, I accept your bet, Golden."
"And I accept yours."
He waved the next eleven glasses behind the counter, settling them neatly next to the first. Once he'd moved the first glass close enough, Celestia lifted it up, gently swirling it and examining the thin layer of the drink coating the sides. She was now finally able to smell the alcoholic scent from the clear liquid. While it was now stronger than the last one, it was nothing compared to what was to come.
The other glasses soon moved themselves next to the first one, each landing on a spare space of the countertop with a soft clack. Celestia raised her first glass towards the ceiling, as if giving a toast.
"Cheers."
"Yeah, cheers," Thunder Run said with a nervous chuckle.
Celestia then took her time, taking her first sip and feeling the harshness of the drink slide down her throat. She wasn't going to show it, but she had to admit, this was nothing like she had ever tasted before.
Still, this was nothing to the likes of the Princess of Equestria.
The glasses disappeared, one by one, and Celestia licked her lips and wiped her muzzle after each. With each drink, she'd come up with something else to say, but once they grew larger in quantity, she figured silence was best.
At the sixth drink, Thunder Run, while not a big fan of conversation before, was growing more and more awed by what he was watching. Each empty glass slid down the counter, and he could only bring himself to stare and catch them, as the speed of their travel had slowed tremendously.
But it was only at the tenth where Celestia pompously asked for more, a smug grin spread across her muzzle, and it was the twelfth when she finished the last one and looked Thunder Run straight in the eye.
"Satisfied?" she asked.
He said nothing, staring dumbfounded at the now-empty glass that had been filled only moments ago. His expression grew more agape and his eyelids lowered as his head and shoulders sagged.
"Y-y-yes," he finally managed.
"Great! And, quite honestly, not as bad as it could have been. The fruits weren't mixed in as well as I would have liked, but it's not anything that a better-trained bartender couldn't do. Don't you think, Thunder?"
It wasn't until she waved a hoof in front of his muzzle did he finally blink. He quickly shook his head and the astonishment faded to a distant memory.
"All right, you won the bet," he finally said, rolling his eyes, a small laugh escaping. "It was nice playing along, but now I've got real customers that are waiting."
"You know," she said, leaning closer towards him, "maybe later you and I can play this little game again." The smirk she put on was the smuggest smile she could muster, and she tilted her head and batted her eyelashes at him.
"Yeah, well... maybe," he muttered, smiling back.
Celestia knew he meant it as a polite way to brush her off, and was probably not considering a potential rendezvous with her. And in a way, she was disappointed with herself.
Because if she didn't have her plans set, she could have perhaps had more than just a fling with him.
Regardless, the two ended their conversation and Celestia began to look around the very bar, and found that she was drawing a great deal of attention from the other patrons. Whether it was from her amazing feat of consuming a score of Neighclear shots without any major fuss or from her teasing Thunder Run, the sheer amount of interest was enough to make her cheeks burn.
It took some willpower, but she finally brought her gaze down and averted her eyes from the crowd. There had to be more to do in the bar, especially with how fancy the place was. Maybe she could go and do karaoke, or maybe go dance?
She looked behind her, getting a good view of the dance floor, and the pair of couples currently on it. With all her wisdom, she didn't consider what those two were doing. They were moving their hooves and bodies to the music, which was quite catchy, but as the song was in the middle of a bridge, the dancers were sharing some quick words.
She returned her focus towards the table, putting her head in a hoof as she continued to think. When was the last time she danced in a public venue like this? And when was the last time she was able to talk to somebody without formality?
The booths she saw were mostly full, leaving few available for her. Still, the closest booth was just across the way, and it seemed to be occupied by just one stallion in particular. Maybe if she hurried, she could maybe...
"Miss, are you all right?"
The sound of Thunder Run's voice made her snap her attention back towards the bar, and she immediately shot back a question. "What do you mean?" she asked.
"I mean you drank a lot of shots just now, and you're acting like you're ready to pass out. Can you even walk over to the booth by yourself, or do you need an escort?"
Celestia let his concerns roll off her, and gave a giggle. Despite a small buzz finally beginning to affect her, she was quite sure it was only because of how long it had been since she drank something this strong. If she was an ordinary pony, there was no doubt she would be more intoxicated than she currently was.
She looked over at the booth in question, and now she could see that it was the same pony she had eyed earlier. A timid looking stallion, one that looked awfully cute, sitting by himself, and was probably waiting for a friend.
"I assure you, I'm fine," she said, sliding off the stool. She landed gracefully on the floor, but immediately stumbled and put a hoof against the counter. The flow of her dress followed the motion of her sudden move and flared outward, and Thunder Run only chuckled at her performance.
"If you say so," he said.
She lifted her other hoof up, and once her dress finally rested, she stood firm and puffed out her chest.
"Quite the tall... stool."
Before the bartender could even respond, she trotted her way over to the booth, approaching from behind, and promptly sat herself down in the open spot right next to the stallion, despite him sitting at an otherwise occupied table.
"U-uh, can I help you, miss?"
Getting a much closer look at the stallion only made Celestia's smile widen. He had an adorable cream coat with a short, bronze mane and tail. His soft brown eyes looked so cute, with their hue complimenting hers. His outfit, meanwhile, was quite nondescript, a simple tuxedo suit.
She struggled to find an adequate response. "You're really handsome," she said.
Normally, it'd take a lot more of an icebreaker to get a stallion to loosen up, and perhaps let loose and have a little fun, but Celestia couldn't help but notice the faint blush across his snout. It was an attempt on her part to convey what she was looking for tonight, and it seemed he was picking up on it.
That, and there was already a good bit of her mind that just wanted to get to the fun part, and this cutie just might help do the trick.
The stallion's cheeks began to redden, and he sunk down and curled his head away. "U-uhm, r-really? This is the first time I've heard that."
His flushed expression turned crimson as her eyes trailed lower, seeing the bulge that had begun to appear, straining against his trousers.
She had him where she wanted, and he was definitely the type she was looking for tonight.
"And this is the first time I've met such a charmer," she whispered, her voice husky. "What's your name, handsome?"
"My n-name?" he asked, finally managing to bring his gaze back up.
"Mhm."
"Sunshower."
"Sunshower, Sunshower..." she repeated, placing her hoof over his withers, and scooching her body closer to his, "such a beautiful name for a pretty stallion. It sounds like rain during the summer. It's so relaxing, so... soothing."
"Well, my sister's named Sunbeam, so I guess it fits..." Sunshower replied, looking a bit nervous, but also oddly flustered.
"Your sister?"
"Yes, we're twins, my sister and I," he answered. "She's a pegasus, so the weather connection seems a bit off, but she was born on a sunny, windy day, so..."
"Yes, yes, your sister sounds lovely," Celestia interrupted, making a dismissive motion with her free hoof. "But let's not worry about your sister, because that would be just rude, now would it?"
"Oh, s-sorry," Sunshower said, still nervous. He fidgeted his forelegs, tapping his hooves on the table.
"No, no, don't apologize," Celestia cooed, scooching even closer. "So, Sunshower, this is your first time in the Gleaming Horseshoe? From your lack of company, it seems that you came here by yourself."
This time, no response from him, only a quick nod.
Normally, Celestia would never be this forward, not when being her usual self, nor when in disguise. Yet with everything building up in the last decade of being Princess, she was craving a release, a distraction, something to clear her mind. The idea to mingle with the commoners was both a frightening and exciting prospect, and when a particular young stallion showed up at her sights, she realized she couldn't waste a perfectly good opportunity.
"Well, you'll be glad to know," she said, now right up against him, her warm breath brushing his cheek, "that I came here to have fun. I just want to have a good time, with somepony, well, like you. That doesn't sound too bad, does it?"
She could have sworn she could hear a gulp escape him. "N-not at all, G-golden Feather," he said.
Celestia distanced herself slightly.
"Wait... how do you know my name?"
"W-well," he said, a brief, embarrassed laugh escaping, "the bartender over there called you it a couple times."
Celestia's alarmed expression relaxed as she rolled her eyes and looked over. Thunder Run was facing towards a customer, talking, but looking right at her and Sunshower. He caught her stare, and then suddenly averted his eyes and looked down, chuckling and shaking his head. She could only guess what was going on.
"Oh. Right. He did," she replied, not really caring what the stallion was talking about. "Well, I'll make it clear. I want a pony just like you, Sunshower. We can do so many fun things together. Would you like that?"
"Y-yes," he finally said.
Celestia leaned a little closer and brushed her muzzle against his cheek. Considering his nervous demeanor, the closeness probably seemed a bit unwarranted, but she wanted him to feel secure and comfortable. That, and she never had opportunities like this in the past, and wasn't really sure what the limits were in a public area.
"That's good," she murmured, slowly brushing her cheek against his. "You're quite cute, you know. Absolutely adorable, and it's making me just want you even more."
She felt his shiver, and she immediately pulled back. She studied him, taking a good look at his body language and the look in his eyes. At first, she wondered if he was afraid, but then he flashed her a nervous smile.
"You're a bit drunk, aren't you?" he asked.
"W-wha?"
Celestia pursed her lips and let her jaw hang. She wasn't drunk, was she?
"It's okay. I'm not much of a drinker either. But you seem a bit, um... under the influence, Golden. Is there anything I can do to help?"
The young stallion was genuinely concerned for her. Celestia had already forgotten that he had a pure soul, but her mind was too focused on whether there was truth to his word or not. Even if she was disguised as Golden Feather, she still had the constitution of an Alicorn.
Or was he right and she was, indeed, slightly inebriated?
"Help me?" she finally asked. "Hmm... well, I may know of one way."
With a gentle shuffle of her hips, she nudged one thigh up against his crotch, and her flesh, thinly veiled under her dress, brushed up against his member. She could feel its firmness as the pressure built up.
Sunshower took in a sharp breath through his nostrils, and his eyes widened. He stiffened up, his shoulders raised and his legs tightly pressed against the table. It didn't take him long to relax, his legs loosening and a tiny moan escaping.
"You seem so eager for it," Celestia said. "Do you think you could help me in a, hmm, physical way?"
Sunshower looked down from her eyes, then up again.
"Y-y-yes, if... that's okay," Sunshower replied, his speech slow and his breathing rapid.
"Mmm, and you do sound so eager." Celestia grinned.
She slid her hoof up his foreleg, resting her fetlock on his withers and continuing to caress his cheek with her muzzle. With the amount of buildup this poor young stallion had accumulated, coupled with the contact and warmth she was applying, Celestia imagined he'd be all over her in mere moments.
However, he remained mostly stationary, except for his heavy panting. While it was evident that Sunshower was eager, it was apparent that his shyness was keeping him rooted, and despite the bulge pressing against his trousers, it seemed he hadn't grown much.
She still had a way to go.
She smiled and stroked his chin. "You've gotten so quiet, dear. Why not tell me a little about yourself? Something you're good at, or something you like to do."
"Really, I'm not good at much," he stammered, his eyes darting. "I'm a delivery pony, and it's not really the greatest job. The only reason I'm even here is that I had a delivery in town today and I wanted to have a drink. This place is supposed to be the best in the city."
"That's wonderful," Celestia gushed, bringing her other forehoof up his cheek and holding the sides of his face, keeping him level with hers. "Where's your favorite place you've been for a delivery?"
"Hmm, well, usually places within a couple miles are the usual run," he explained, "and it's not like we deliver outside of the Canterlot a lot. Sometimes they have me go down south to Ponyville, and that's when I meet some really interesting ponies. There's this one mare, an old, blind granny, and sometimes I go and visit her. It's hard to believe, but she's a huge fan of the royal family, and has a whole bunch of photos and artifacts that are really cool. Some are from before Equestria was even founded."
"Ooooh," Celestia giggled, stroking her hooves along the sides of his muzzle. While in truth, she wasn't quite so interested in what he had to say, it was getting harder and harder to keep track of the details. "I'd... like to meet her sometime. That sounds so fascinating, especially meeting ponies from such an ancient time."
"I'm pretty sure she lives in Ponyville, and since we're not that far, you could go check her out. Her name is, uhm, what was it again?" Sunshower asked, his voice trailing. He hummed for a bit, trying to recall the name.
Celestia didn't bother, her head nodding and her eyelids lowering. She continued to rub her cheek and muzzle against Sunshower's, and even snuck in a peck on his ear. The stallion, although not giving back the favor, continued his story. That was, until Celestia planted a hoof on his lips.
"And when will I get to see your package, Sunshower?" she murmured.
He blinked a couple of times, and gave a weak cough.
"Come now, you're a delivery stallion, you know?" She shot him a cheeky smile, and a wink.
"Oh."
She slowly dragged her hoof down his neck, pausing to stroke his chest, before sliding down even further, and finally ending at the bulge still beneath his trousers. She lightly pawed at the spot, teasing the fabric with her hoof.
"I'd like to see you give me a -hic- delivery..." she purred.
She then brushed her hips against his, and used the weight of her body to force him to the wall. Her hoof slid forward, now completely covering the clothed tip of his shaft.
"Now," she whispered.
"I, uh, Golden, not here. It's... too crowded."
She glanced at the busy dance floor and bar, and nodded. She knew what he meant. She then turned her attention to the restrooms and caught a glimpse of the other pony entering through the door marked for mares.
Sunshower saw where her gaze was at however, and quickly objected.
"No, not the bathroom," he muttered. "At least, not there... it's too dirty."
"Ah, well... that's true," Celestia replied, her voice slurring ever-so-slightly.
"What about... my place? It's not too far, just a couple blocks from here. We could spend the night there."
She paused for a moment, allowing her mind to digest his words. That, or her inhibitions were slowing.
"That sounds perfect."
As they both trotted down the street, the stars above them twinkled in the night sky. With the sun having set not long ago, she knew that her sister's shift was over, and that there should be nopony outside the castle and likely very little activity in the streets.
She could be herself.
Even the light of the nearby gas lamps didn't obscure the beauty of the stars and moon, as they were nestled in a cloudless patch of sky. The brilliant shimmer reflected off her coat and dress. However, she noticed Sunshower didn't quite have the same luck.
Despite the romantic notion, Celestia wasn't focused on her work. Instead, her sights were focused solely on the adorable stallion trotting in step next to her.
Something about the atmosphere was... extremely beautiful to Celestia. Everything was just so pretty, and she could swear she had never seen this street before. Celestia was still coming to terms that this was real, and happening. For her, it was a miracle that a stallion had allowed her to follow him home.
Unbeknownst to Celestia, or to her magical disguise as Golden Feather, there was a strut in her trot. A strut she didn't intend, one that was a result of her own inebriation.
And a brief, magical flicker in her mane.
"Huh?"
Sunshower looked at her in surprise, his muzzle parting and his eyebrows raising.
Celestia, in turn, only gave him a sly, yet forced smile, not knowing that the tiniest shimmer had just appeared within her braided, blonde mane, and then vanished just as quickly as it had come.
"Come now, you don't have to be scared," Celestia teased, unknowing while flouncing forward. "We are alone now, aren't -hic- we?"
The pegasus nervously paid it no heed, and trotted ahead.
Celestia chuckled at his timidness. "So, you've got a place just ahead," she said, "isn't it? Just a couple blocks, no less?
Sunshower kept trotting, the noise of his hooves loud in the now-quiet and dark street.
"Don't worry, darling, -hic- I can be a bit pushy sometimes, but not always."
Celestia sighed, a puff of condensation forming from her breath. She really hoped the little amount she had to drink didn't make her too unpredictable, or worse, drive him away.
She galloped towards him and pulled up next to him.
"What's the matter?" she asked, the breeze blowing her mane and tail behind her. "Do you have second thoughts? Is it me?"
She began to pout as she walked.
"No, no, nothing like that." Sunshower giggled, waving a hoof dismissively. "It's just... oh, never mind."
"What's on your -hic- mind?"
"Well," Sunshower said, "It's just that... I d-didn't expect to be bringing a mare home tonight."
"Aww, what's wrong, you never had a -hic- mare?"
"No...? I, er, uh, don't know how to... really, uh..."
"I don't think I'll bite, you know." Celestia chuckled.
Eventually, they both reached Sunshower's apartment, a door that matched many others on the block. Sunshower's was no different, and he quickly opened the door and led her inside.
The dim hallway was lit only with an occasional hanging lamp. To the left, she could see the stairwell leading up the floors. However, he had his hoof placed on the door that read '1', and opened it, allowing her to enter first.
"Please, come in."
It took a few minutes before the oil lantern Sunshower had taken to light his way into the apartment had illuminated the entire living room. Celestia could clearly see the couch, a sofa chair, and a bookshelf. The wallpaper looked fresh, with barely any imperfections in its patterns.
She immediately made her way to the couch, plopping herself down on a cushion, the padding letting out a sigh.
She then beckoned him forward with a hoof.
"Why, come and -hic- sit here, will you?"
Sunshower did just that, joining her on the sofa.
"You know, you're quite cute." She blushed.
She carefully drew his head up and rubbed his mane between her hooves. Even if it wasn't her intent, there was a buzz deep beneath her that was orchestrating the situation, and was becoming increasingly vocal.
"I wonder... is there something in my mane?" She smiled as she examined his hair, and then his face.
"N-no."
"Good, 'cause I wouldn't mind if you're checking me over, and what have you..."
There was a gleam in her eye, one of joy, and even a bit of lust, and it made the stallion nervous. But excited, as his shaft had grown and poked at the front of his pants.
Finally, he scooched closer on the sofa, seating himself next to her and pulling her close.
"Oh, you're so -hic- adorable. I'm sure you have some business there."
Without hesitation, she touched the bulge gently, but firmly, and began to stroke the covered flesh.
"And this is your package?"
She stroked it a few more times, the cloth rubbing against the sensitive flesh. The pegasus shut his eyes tightly and moaned, shuddering.
"Y-yes..."
She continued to stroke it for a few more seconds, and then stopped. Sunshower's breath hitched, and then let out a small sigh as she removed her hoof.
"P-please... continue."
Celestia smirked.
Her grin grew wider, and she winked at him. Sunshower, still looking somewhat perplexed, said nothing and only stared at her with a bewildered expression.
She then closed her eyes and leaned forward, closing the distance between his snout and hers. Almost involuntarily, he drew himself towards her, his muzzle pressing upon hers gently and tentatively. Both breathed softly, exhaling, their breaths heating each others' snouts and upper lip as her left hoof settled against his neck. He grew stronger with confidence, lifting his snout just slightly before setting it softly down as before as his tongue parted his lips.
