Spike was nearby in case he needed to reach out to Celestia for help. The Golden Oaks library felt awfully quiet today, but that was exactly what Twilight needed for this spell to work. Twilight asked this for the third and final time today. “Are you positively positive that this is what you want?” Fluttershy gave a nod. “I do. I want to be brave, and strong, if only for a few minutes.” “Well, I did decide to study mind magic after Luna returned, she got me interested in it and a simple hypnotism spell was on the list. Now, I do need to warn you, I have not tested this out yet, nopony would volunteer and there are no villains to reform.” “Um... is the reform spell you mentioned mind magic?” “Of course it is, it removes the bad parts and encourages the good. It is also something that I was told was listed in the illegal dark magic list, but as we all know, magic can't be inherently evil, only used wrongly.” “Um...” “Anyway,” Twilight pet the top of Fluttershy's head. Looking around her library this was the perfect place for the newly appointed princess of friendship to do her studies. “, lets do some magic.” Twilight's horn lit up as she stared deep into Fluttershy's eyes. “Now, listen to my voice, focus on it, let my voice fill your thoughts.” “Yes.” “Good, now, you want to be brave, you want to be strong, you will become like the pony you feel is the bravest in all of Equestria.” Fluttershy blinked. Then smiled. “Is it done?” “Yes, now this only lasts for about a half hour and I can cancel it at any time. Also no trying to do sonic rainbooms.” “Why would I do that? That's not very piratical, Twilight.” Twilight blinked. Wait, she did the spell right, right? Make her the bravest pony, that was clearly Rainbow Dash. She watched as Fluttershy stood up and examined the room around them. She walked over to a bookshelf full of magical textbooks and began examining them. “You know, Twilight, I have always had a theory that magic was more than just what's in our horns. Or our wings. I suspect magic might go to our very core, even earth ponies.” Twilight stood up and followed her. “Well yes, there is the theory that even Earth Ponies have what's called inert magic, or low magic. They make plants grow stronger, have super strength, or even create potions with alchemy.” “But what about a pony's soul? Could magic stem from that?” “Hmm, well old theories do suggest as much, but soul magic was banned years ago as it was deemed too dangerous to practice or study.” “No magic should be too dangerous to simply study. Spike, take a letter, we need to ask Celestia to change a few laws.” Twilight gulped. “Spike, do not listen to her, she's not in the right head space for that.” “Twilight Sparkle, I am in the perfect head space for logical discussions on the study and application of all magic. As you said it yourself, no magic is inherently evil.” “Evil and dangerous are two separate things, Fluttershy.” “Preposterous, I have become the smartest, bravest, and most intelligent unicorn in all of Equestria. I will teach everypony the value of magic and study. Nopony should be left without a desire for greater education by the time I am done.” Spike looked at them opened his mouth, shut it, and walked away. Twilight was pretty sure he swore under his breath as he left. She'd talk to him about it later. For now she would have to deal with this. Twilight had to focus on the challenge ahead. The worst part of it was that she wasn't exactly sure who Fluttershy was even trying to act like. Was it Princess Luna? No, not enough darkness. Perhaps it was Egad... no he was a bit... robot focused. So who was Fluttershy acting like, was it possible that Fluttershy had friends that Twilight didn't know about? Secret friends? No that would be traitorous. Fluttershy nodded as she looked at one book. “Hmm, you might be right, Princess Celestia has always said she values friendship deeply, if we do an in-depth study on friendship, perhaps Princess Celestia will finally notice us and offer to marry us.” Twilight sat down, hard. From the kitchen, she could hear Spike erupting with laughter. This wasn't funny, this was a problem. The only pony that Celestia should notice was her! Twilight took in a deep breath and exhaled. “Fluttershy, you cannot marry the princess.” “I know that I am not good enough, nopony is good enough, but surely someone has to take her hoof in marriage and if its anypony it should be me.” “I swear I'm going to slap a filly.” “How horrible, Twilight Sparkle, you cannot physically harm a child. The kinetic force of such a blow would do far too much damage, not to mention the psychological and emotional ramifications of such a thing.” Twilight's horn lit up. “Okay, I am done with this. You are getting annoying.” “A spell, hmph, if it's magic you desire then it is magic you will receive. Prepare yourself for my spell!” Fluttershy lowered her head and... nothing happened... did she forget she was a pegasus for a moment? “Oh no, this is worse than that one time I walked through poison joke and my horn became limp.” Twilight rolled her eyes and unleashed the cancel spell upon Fluttershy. Fluttershy stood back upright, shook her head and then blinked a few times. Twilight smiled. “Feeling better?” Fluttershy nodded. “Th-that was fun, can we do it again sometime?” “I'll think about it.” Fluttershy giggled. “Okay, thank you for letting me try that. I have to go but I'll come back so I can pretend to be you again soon.” Twilight watched Fluttershy leave out the front door. Slowly mouthing what Fluttershy had just said... this... had a lot of implications. From the idea that Fluttershy thought of Twilight as the bravest pony to... Twilight stood up and only barely stopped herself from running out the door. “How did she find out about my plan to marry Princess Celestia?” The End Author's Note This cute little piece of nonsense was created thanks to two influences. One being an absolutely amazing story about starlight hypnotizing her marefriend miss cheerilee. Figured, well I might as well try my hoof at it then and make something. I like this, it was fun, easy, and cute to make. Back to making visual novels now.
