A Shimmering Tale

Sunset’s POV:

The soft but annoying sound of a repetitive noise filled Sunsets ears, causing her to slowly open her eyes.

“Beep-“

“Beep-“

“Beep-“

Sunset vision was blurry as she stared at the white ceiling, not understanding what was going on until a sinister chuckle caught her attention.

”finally awake… Good!”

Sunset quickly sat up despite the bruises and aching pain of her body protest, her eyes widened in fear and dread as the form of Sunset Shimmers demon was standing at the end of her bed.

”Nothing to say… awww I’m sad that you have to strength to greet your friend”

The demon lied with a sadistic grin, which got a response from the flaming redhead.

“Your not-“

Sunset began to say before the demon cut her off in which made her furious at this uncaring incarnation of hell.

“Real…? Ha! I’m your real you.. the one who saved you from all the pain from your youth.”

Before Sunset could respond the door opened up slightly, a dark tan man with a dark brown hair style and wore a coat with a hourglass on the lapel of it. The doctor saw Sunset sitting up and what appeared to be in a middle of an argument.

“Ah the mysterious patient… how are you feeling this afternoon..?”

The doctor walked up to the hospital bed, looking at her as Sunset looked at him as he continued.

“My name is Doctor Hooves but-“

Sunset interrupting the doctor with a strange request.

“Can you please take her away..?”

The demon chuckled coldly, giving a similar answer as the doctor.

”Who is her?~”

“Who is her?”

Doctor hooves looked around, not seeing anyone else in the room but the patient herself. Sunset pointed at the end of the bed, exclaiming loudly.

“The demon at the end of the bed!!!”

Doctor hooves looks at the end of the bed, seeing no one else there before looking back at her and responding.

“Does this demon come from your childhood or recently?”

Sunset growled, the memories of meeting the demon and listening to it for many years as it gave her nothing but pain a misery, before responding with a nod.

“Ever since I was little…!”

”And will be with you till the day you die~”

The sounds of a pencil writing on a notepad as Doctor Hooves looked at her with concern. Just before Sunset could continue doctor Hooves spoke in an empathetic tone.

“Miss you must understand that it’s a figment of your imagination and… your tumor…”

Sunset looked up at Doctor hooves as the color in her face drained out of her in shock.

“Yes.. you heard right a tumor. It is located on your frontal lobe which has also been found to be on the border between the frontal and Temporal lobe. So I need to ask a few questions to determine the best course of action…”

Sunset Shimmer could not believe what he heard, having a tumor in her head and why did it matter what a lobe was it’s still her brain, and could not dare to listen to the questions that were asked until two questions caused her to listen.

“Have you felt feelings far too fast and/ or at such higher than normal..?”

“Have you had any traumatic experience in the months and/ or years prior your suicide attempt..?”

Sunset felt sick to her stomach as incidents of her past slowly trickled into her mind that refused to stop.

Flashback

Sunset was shoved to the ground as a tall unicorn stallion stood over her, the stallion was a thin built with a slight yellowish orange color coat with a reddish orange mane and tail, his cutie mark was lit camp fire, his eyes were a dark blue that bore into sunsets light turquoise eye.

“You little shit stain! You have no rights to ask me for forgiveness after what you have done!”

The unicorn stallion shouted at Sunset, making the younger mare cringe as the stallion slammed his hoof down onto the wooden floor which caused it to crack. Sunset looked away in fear, seeing a small colt on the floor that was crying loudly. Sunset began to speak up in an attempt to explain what happened.

“S… sunburst just wanted a cookie..-“

As Sunset began to explain her actions the stallion slapped her across the face before hearing her out. Sunset’s vision went white as a shrill scream from the stallion was the last thing she could remember.

FlashBack End

Sunset looked up at the doctor, only to see he was gone. Looking around the room, Sunset saw a small paper plate of a pre sliced Cucumber sandwich with a small paper cup of water. With a gentle smile Sunset picked up a piece of the sandwich before taking a bite.

—Reception—

The time was 7:18 pm, A small group of people were sitting in the small chairs while waiting for the doctor to return to the group after the diagnosis of Sunsets condition. Sunset Shimmer was diagnosed with Schizophrenia and Personality Shift Disorder from the stage three tumor. The group of people there were all familiar; Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Vice-Principal Luna and Derpy Hooves.

The group said nothing for a long while until a soft voice came from the shy teen.

“S…. She can’t be that sick… can she…?”

Fluttershy asked, on the verge of tears as Rainbow Dash held her tightly before responding.

“It’s not your fault flutters… we were being rash and frankly what I said was uncalled for…-“

Rarity spoke up, cutting off the egotistical teen with her own voice that cracked from sheer despair.

“What we all said was uncalled for.. we had no way she was suffering from a stage three tumor… and where it was and described what it affected made more sense of what happened..”

The girls nodded, looking up as the doctor came back with a soft smile.

“She’s awake now… would you like to see her…?”

The doctor said as the group talked between themselves for a bit before getting a response.

“I’ll go first…”
