MLP Ninjago Girls: Origins
Chapter 1) The Legend of Ninja-Go
Load Full StoryIt was a beautiful day in the lands of Equestria.
The people in the area were tending to their crop fields, without noticing a mysterious figure walking along the path next to the crops.
This person was an elderly woman, with grayish-white hair and two purple and magenta strands, purple eyes. Her clothing consisted of a white robe, with a six-pointed magenta star symbol on the back, an oriental straw hat, and a bamboo staff that she used for support.
The mysterious old woman stopped for a moment to look around her, while she focused her gaze on the small and only building in the area, before resuming her path there.
The building was a sort of blacksmith shop, which had two floors with elegant sloping roofs and a sign at the entrance showing a drawing of four weapons: a scythe, a pair of nunchucks, a shuriken, and a sword. The first floor contained the forge, shelves where samurai helmets and swords were displayed, as well as a small telephone hanging on the wall. There was a bed in the far corner near a large window, and a set of stairs leading to the second floor.
The person running the place was a teenage girl with bright green eyes, and long magenta hair with red, yellow, and light blue streaks. She was wearing a white shirt, red shorts, and an orange blacksmith's apron.
Her name was Sunny Starscout, and she was currently trying to forge a sword, using the heat of the forge, an anvil, and a hammer.
"To forge the perfect weapon, you first need the right metal and a high temperature" Sunny said to herself, as she picked up the newly heated sword and placed it in a bucket full of water "You cool it down... and... READY!"
But, upon taking it out, Sunny ends up sighing, disappointed to see that her sword had somehow ended up bent.
At that moment, she was interrupted by laughter.
Those laughs belonged to a teenage male, approximately three years younger than Sunny. He had short moderate turquoise hair and moderate brown eyes. He was wearing a light amber shirt and long black pants.
That man was Hitch Trailbrazer, Sunny's younger brother... and the only family he had left since the death of her parents.
"You've done it too fast, Sunny" Hitch said, advising his older sister "Be patient. If Mother were here, she would have said..."
"I know: No matter how much fire you have, experience can't be gained in a day" Sunny replied, as she put the folded sword back into the forge to heat it up "That might work for you, Hitch, but I'll be a BETTER blacksmith than Mother ever was".
At that moment, the mysterious old woman entered the store, observing Sunny and the helmets and armor displayed there.
"Hmm... your metal is loud and heavy. Useful in hindering and useless in the art of stealth" the mysterious old woman said, drawing Sunny's attention and touching a samurai helmet with the tip of her staff "Tools for a samurai… but nothing for a ninja".
"A ninja? Ha, sorry but you won't find ninjas in these lands, old lady" Sunny replied in a mocking tone, before pointing seriously at the store's sign “And the store is called The Four Weapons, not The Four Stealths. Buy something or go somewhere else to hurl your insults!"
The mysterious old woman sneered a little.
"Ha! Wow, what a shame" the mysterious old woman said, as she walked past Sunny "I thought I found something special here..."
The two siblings looked at each other, wondering what the mysterious old woman meant, while Hitch gestured for Sunny to show her around.
Listening to his brother, Sunny walked over to another shelf with another samurai helmet.
"If you're looking for something special, I could…" Sunny said.
But when Sunny turned around, with the helmet in her hands, she was surprised to discover that the mysterious old woman... had disappeared without a trace.
"Huh? Where is she?" Hitch asked, as surprised as his sister.
"She was…" Sunny said in surprise, before sighing and going back to forging her sword "Bah, forget it".
However, the same question was going through her head: Who was that old woman?
A few hours later, the growers were still working in their fields… until something strange caught their attention.
Mysterious black clouds began to gather in the sky, obscuring it, when suddenly... a group of living SKELETONS appeared, riding various customized cars and motorcycles!
Aboard the largest vehicle, known as the Skull Truck, there were three skeletons that stood out from the others.
Two of them had larger skulls, one with spikes and a metal patch screwed over his right eye, while the other still had both eyes red and a gray metal helmet over his head.
Their names were Kruncha and Nuckal.
But the third skeleton that was with them... was the one who stood out the most from the trio.
He had a large head, with two scars over his red eyes (one went through his nose area) and a large brown spine. He wore brown chest armor, a cloak that covered his arms, and a red cloth belt around his waist.
"Oh oh! Leave it to me!" Nuckal begged, excited "Oh, please, please! I'm dying to go down there!"
"Listen, you fool, you're already DEAD!" Kruncha scolded, before pointing to the third skeleton that accompanied them "You try to control yourself before Master Samukai!"
Then, changing his tone, he spoke to the third skeleton, named Samukai.
"With all due respect, boss, but…" Kruncha said "Last time you said that I could go the first".
"Sorry, guys, this time I'll go..." Samukai said to his two henchmen "Remember what we're looking for and find that Map. ATTACK!"
With that said, the skeletons headed towards the crop fields.
The growers, ready to defend themselves and counterattack, charged toward the approaching vehicles.
"BOO!" Samukai shouted.
At such a shout, the cultivators became frightened, turned around and fled, while the Skeleton Army ran past them, ignoring them and heading towards… Sunny and Hitch's store!
In the store, the two brothers watched as the skeletons approached, with Hitch hiding behind a table and with Sunny coming out dressed in iron chest armor, a samurai helmet in one hand and a sword in the other.
"What are those things?" Hitch asked, scared.
"I don't know... but I won't let them touch our home" Sunny said, as she put on her helmet and unsheathed her sword "You wait here for me".
Leaving the store, Sunny used the sword to fight some approaching skeletons, managing to decapitate one, before attacking another, without seeing that the skull of the one she decapitated jumped behind her and bit her on the leg.
"OUCH!" Sunny shouted, before glaring angrily at the skull on the ground, which was laughing "Oh, yeah? Take THIS!"
She kicks the skull, launching it like a soccer ball and flying to land behind the store.
At that moment, while two skeletons applaud for the extraordinary performance of Sunny, Hitch sneaks up from behind, with a wooden bo in his hands, and perform a stealth attack against the skeletons.
"Hitch?! I thought I told you to wait for me!" Sunny scolded, surprised to see her brother joining her.
"What I what?" Hitch asked, standing next to Sunny, as the skeletons began to surround them "And let you have all the fun?"
Then, the two brothers continued their fight against the rest of the skeletons.
What the brothers did not know at the time was that, while they were fighting the skeletons, Kruncha and Nuckal had taken advantage of the opportunity to sneak into the store without being seen.
The two began to search the place... as if they were looking for something specifically.
While they searched, Nuckal picked up one of Sunny's samurai helmets and put it on his head, trying it on.
"You're not looking hard enough!" Kruncha scolded, as he threw another hoof, hitting Nuckal in the head.
"OW! It’s you who doesn’t look hard enough!" Nuckal shouted, as the two began to fight, slapping each other.
In one of those blows, Kruncha crashed backwards into a wall, activating a kind of domino effect, which knocked down the sign at the entrance of the store.
Both Kruncha and Nuckal stopped when they saw something behind the sign: some sort of open scroll showing the locations of four weapons that appeared to be made of gold.
"THE MAP!" they both gasped, realizing that they had found what they were looking for.
Back outside, Sunny had finished off the last of the skeletons, when she sees Samukai approach her.
Sunny took a battle stance with her sword, but Samukai chuckled, before removing his cloak… revealing that he had FOUR arms, with a dagger in each!
"Oops…" Sunny said, as she backed away a bit as she realized how outmatched she was.
When Samukai attacked, Sunny used his sword to block some of her attacks, before he used his daggers to disarm her and then kicked her to the ground.
Sunny tried to get up, but she watched as Samukai approached her, while he spun his daggers so fast with the intention of ending her life.
"Nice try, brat… but you are too weak" Samukai said to his prey "Any last words?"
"Only one!" a mysterious voice suddenly said "NINJAAAAAAA-GO!!"
Suddenly, a kind of small tornado made of purple energy appeared and pushed Samukai back.
Sunny watched in amazement as the mysterious tornado hit Samukai a few times, before stopping spinning and transforming into someone unexpected.
It was the mysterious old woman she attended to in the store a few hours ago!
As Samukai recovered from the attack, he growled angrily as he recognized the old woman who had attacked him.
"Sensei Twilight Sparkle!" Samukai growled "Your Spinjitzu looks rusty".
"Nothing like a bone to deoxidize it, Samukai" Twilight responded.
At that moment, Samukai noticed Sunny and a water tower standing behind Twilight.
He chuckled, before throwing his daggers straight at Twilight, who dodged them without a problem, only for them to hit the legs of the water tower, causing it to start to tip over… right where Sunny was standing!
"Oh, no...!" Sunny said, as she saw the water tower falling.
"NINJAAA-GO!" Twilight shouted, as she used her Spinjitzu, saving Sunny from being crushed by the water tower.
Unfortunately, taking advantage of the distraction, Samukai returned to the Skull Truck, with Kruncha and Nuckal already on board and the map in his possession.
"Remember: Opaline Arcana says to take the boy!" Samukai ordered, while pointing his daggers at Hitch, who was still fighting some skeletons.
At that moment, the name Samukai mentioned made Twilight look at him with concern.
"Opaline!?" Twilight said fearfully.
Then, Kruncha got on some kind of machine that was in Skull Truck, and fired a kind of bone claw at Hitch.
The claw grabbed him, and as they pulled him back, he screamed in fear.
"SUNNY! HELP ME!" Hitch shouted, as the rest of the skeletons began to return to their vehicles.
"HITCH! NOOOO!!" Sunny screamed, as the skeletons escaped with her brother.
In the end, as the skeletons walked away the way they had come, the only thing that could be heard in the air… was Samukai’s evil laughter echoing on the horizon.
"No…" Sunny said, as she fell to her knees, feeling like she had lost "They took Hitch…"
"I told you" Twilight said, as she hit Sunny’s hoof with her staff "Useless".
Seeing Twilight, Sunny stood up with an angry look.
"ARRGH! You could have done something!" Sunny shouted "You could have used your Twinjitzu, your…"
"Spinjitzu?" Twilight said, corrected her.
"Yes! But you haven’t done NOTHING!" Sunny said, before turning around to go where the skeletons went "I’m going to get my brother back!"
"Where they're going, no mortal can go. That four-armed skeleton was Samukai, King of the Underworld" Twilight said, stopping Sunny, who looked at her confused "And if it's true that he's carrying out Opaline Arcana's orders, then things are worse than I had imagined".
"Opaline Arcana?! Underworld?! WHAT'S GOING ON?!" Sunny asked, totally confused "What do we have that's so important?! And why did they take my brother?!"
"What's important?" Twilight asked, as her mind began to remember “And what if I told you what is everything that Equestria itself is?”
(Flashback)
Long before time had a name, Equestria was created by the First Spinjitzu Master, Celestia Solaris, using the Four Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu.
A woman with long green, light blue, and pink hair meditated around four weapons made of gold.
The Scythe of the Earth, the Nunchakus of the Lightning, the Shurikens of the Ice, and the Sword of the Fire.

Weapons so powerful that no one can control all of their combined power.
Celestia is then shown disappearing and being replaced by two teenage girls: one had hair similar to Twilight's, but with a hint of dark blue, while the other had long hair that was light magenta and pale light grayish opal.
When she died, her two daughters swore to protect them.
The older sister is then shown with her moderate colbalt blue eyes changing to bright red and a face full of anger.
But the older sister was consumed by the Darkness and wanted to possess them.
Then the two sisters are shown fighting on top of a platform on the highest mountain in Equestria, and in one of the attacks, the eldest sister fell off the edge, getting lost in the darkness.
The Battle between the Sisters broke out, and the older sister was defeated and banished to the Underworld.
Then the younger sister is shown collecting the Golden Weapons and hiding them in secret places, while shadows of enormous winged lizards made of earth, ice, lightning, and fire rose at the entrances to the hiding places.
Peace returned, and the younger sister hid the weapons, but knowing her eldest sister's insatiable thirst for power, she commissioned a guardian to protect them.
Finally, the younger sister is shown drawing a map with the locations of the Golden Weapons and giving it to a woman with cherry pink hair with red and yellow streaks and olive green eyes.
And out of fear of dying, she drew a map so that an honest and pure-hearted woman could hide it.
(End of flashback)
"That honest and pure-hearted woman… was your mother" Twilight finished narrating.
As the story ended, Sunny couldn't believe that her own mother was the protector of something so important.
"The older sister is Opaline Arcana" Twilight said "And I need to find those weapons before she does".
It was then that Sunny realized something.
"You… are the younger sister?" Sunny asked, while Twilight nodded "So you've come looking for the map?"
"No. I came for something more important" Twilight said, as she pointed her staff at Sunny "You".
Sunny was shocked by this.
"Since my sister can’t cross over to this world, it’s obvious that she’s made a deal with Samukai. If she were to gather the Four Weapons, not even I could stop her a second time" Twilight explained "But you, Sunny Starscout, you have the Inner Fire. I will train you to control it, use it, and become a Spinjitzu Master".
"Look, I'm flattered that you think that..." Sunny said, before turning around to go after the skeletons "But I have to save my brother, not get into sisterly rivalries!"
At that moment, Twilight jumped up and kicked Sunny, pinning her to the ground on her back with her staff.
"Haha. You're a slow learner, little brat. You're not ready to face me with even my pinky" Twilight said, as she wiggled her pinky finger and held Sunny to the ground "If you want to get your brother back, you must control the fire that burns inside you. Only when you become a Spinjitzu Master, will you be able to face… Opaline Arcana".
Knowing that and that Twilight was right, Sunny sighed.
"Fine" Sunny asked "When do we start then?"
The next day, Sunny was struggling to climb a huge mountain with just her bare hands, trying her best to keep her balance and not fall, while Twilight did the same effortlessly and with great ease.
Once at the top, Sunny stopped for a moment to catch her breath, only to see something extraordinary: at the top of the mountain, there were doors with high walls around them, leading to a huge building.

"How long will it take me to finish training?" Sunny asked after recovering and seeing Twilight walking towards the doors "Aren't we in a bit of a hurry? They have the map!"
"Patience" Twilight said, before opening the doors.
As they both entered, Sunny saw what was inside, leaving her confused.
"You'll be ready when you're ready" Twilight said "Not a minute before".
"A monastery?" Sunny asked confused, after analyzing the structure of the building "You expect me to learn how to fight in a place of peace?"
"Not to fight, to train" Twilight said, as she approached a small statue of a dragon made of gold "To be a true ninja, you must first learn to see what others don't see".
"But there's nothing here" Sunny said, still confused.
At that moment, Twilight lifted the dragon statue, revealing a hidden red button. And when she pressed it, the area changed.
Sunny was surprised to see how the empty area of the courtyard transformed into a training ground with many rotating wheels around each corner of the course, with wooden planks and posts connecting to each other.

"Wow!" Sunny said, totally surprised, before jumping on one of the wooden posts and doing the crane pose "Is this going to teach me how to do that cool move?"
But then, just then, the pole came down, confusing Sunny and worrying Twilight.
"Oh, no…" Twilight said.
At that moment, the pole rose, launching Sunny into the air, who screamed as she crashed into the rotating device in the center of the area and landed on the ground, in front of the monastery door.
"Your training is very simple: finish the obstacle course before I drink my tea" Twilight explained, as she sat in front of the entrance and placed a napkin on her lap "Then we'll see if you're ready".
Then, she took her freshly poured cup of tea and drank it while Sunny remained on the ground, confused by the instructions.
"You suspended today" Twilight said, before setting her cup down and doing a cartwheel into the open room behind her "Tomorrow you’ll try again".
"Suspended?! But I haven’t even started yet..." Sunny tried to say, totally confused.
But before she finished speaking, Twilight closed the door.
"Patience" Twilight said.
All Sunny did at that moment was sigh… knowing that this was going to be more complicated than she thought.
The next day, the training circuit was set in motion as the machine in the center spun, as did the four wheels at each corner, while the wooden beams moved.
Before starting, Sunny decided to carry a wooden sword, since she mastered that weapon better. Then, she started running around the circuit while Twilight poured her tea into her cup and watched.
Sunny dodged two of the dummies in the first part of the circuit, before another one knocked her down.
"Suspended" Twilight said, disappointed.
On her attempt on the second day, Sunny tried again, only to end up in the sword wheels, which made her a little dizzy.
"Suspended" Twilight said, as she poured more tea into her cup.
When she tried again on the third day, Sunny was being tossed into the air by the wooden poles that were going up and down.
"Oh, suspended!" Twilight shouted, wincing in pain at the sight.
On the fourth day, Sunny tried again, only to be hit by a ball and chain and thrown against one of the monastery's walls.
"And suspended again!" Twilight said, as that happened.
On the fifth day, Sunny was determined to beat the test. She ran up and knocked over one of the dummies, before kicking another and jumping onto the next obstacle. Twilight watched as Sunny did a somersault over the wheel of swords, before jumping over the beams that went up and down with ease.
Unfortunately, when she tried to balance on the sticks that moved sideways, Sunny was knocked off her feet halfway by the sandbag on the center machine, sending her flying through the air and landing right back where she started.
"And… suspended" Twilight said, as she set her cup down.
The next day, Sunny, full of focus and determination, was ready to take on the training circuit and complete it.
As soon as Twilight grabbed her napkin, Sunny quickly jumped onto the circuit, knocking over two mannequins before jumping onto the spinning beams.
As Twilight poured her tea and stuck in two sugar cubes, Sunny did her flip on the spinning sword wheel before jumping onto the beams, where she could see Twilight about to take a sip of her tea.
Only this time… she was prepared.
Quickly, Sunny threw her wooden sword towards Twilight's cup, spilling her tea.
Soon, she jumped past the third wheel of axes, while Twilight quickly prepared another cup.
Then, when Twilight looked to see how Sunny was doing… she was surprised to find that he was no longer in sight.
"One sugar cube… or two?" a voice asked next to her, on part of the steps.
That voice belonged to Sunny! She had managed to overcome her training!
Twilight was impressed by this, as she placed her cup on the floor and walked into the monastery.
"So, will you teach me some of the Spinjitzu you've been telling me so much about?" Sunny asked.
"You've already done it. Your Final Test is tomorrow" Twilight said, before closing the door and leaving Sunny bewildered "I advise you to sleep".
Later that night, three mysterious ninja girls, dressed in masks and black outfits, were outside and lurking around the roofs of the monastery.
Despite wearing masks covering their heads, their eye holes could be seen: the one with nuncakus had eyes of a moderate orchid color, the one with a pair of shuriken had eyes of a moderate cyan blue, and the one with a scythe had eyes of a moderate spring green.
Together, the three ninja girls entered through the roof of the monastery and landed silently on the support beams, where inside they saw Twilight fast asleep, while they walked into a room that still had the lights on.
In that room, Sunny was wearing red pajamas and brushing her teeth in front of a mirror, not noticing the ninja girl with nunchucks land in the room and hide behind the entrance door.
Luckily, Sunny didn't notice, as her mind was thinking about the last thing Samukai said to her when he defeated her days ago: You're weak.
"Oh, yeah? Take this!" Sunny said, as she picked up her toothbrush and imagined herself fighting Samukai "And this!"
The second ninja girl landed in the corner of the room, with her shurikens in her hands, while Sunny spun around as if she was doing Spinjitzu.
"And THIS!" Sunny shouted, stopping from spinning and pointing her toothbrush forward.
But when she did, she was surprised to find herself face to face with the third ninja girl, holding her scythe.
In the end, it didn't take long for Sunny to realize that she was surrounded by three ninja girls, leaving her in a trapped situation.
"Uh-oh…" Sunny said.
