To the west, the hives, united under queen Chrysalis, hunger for love and vengeance.
Equestria is as unstable as it has been for centuries. As the Industrial Revolution remakes all, old wounds fester, and complacency and pacifism is the norm in much of Equestrian society.

Prince Blueblood knows none of this. He does know he is bored out of his mind; and that he does fancy the idea of being an army officer.

Ignorance will not last; nor will it protect him, his family, or Equestria. Soon he must rise to occasion to face all of these threats.
