Chapters Thanks to Batran for suggesting the Mann vs Machine for the sequel. Without him this story wouldn't be here. This chapter is just to show you all how the robots got here, and stuff like that.
It was a sunny afternoon on the base. Engineer was setting up his machines while the team prepared. The robots could be coming any second. Engineer set up his teleporter. He had experimented a bit and had come up with a newer, faster teleporter. It could take anyone anywhere in the blink of an eye.
Engineer finished it up and wiped the sweat off his face. He saw the damn robots in the distance. Then he noticed something. The teleporter was going to be right in the path of the robots. Engineer didn't mind about the robots using it. He was worried that they were going to destroy it.
Engineer's fears were for naught as the robots walked past it and did not give a damn. Engineer breathed a sigh of relief. Then he noticed something. One robot was gone. There were 6 robots before he went through. Now there were only 5. He had completely vanished. Then he saw it running for the teleporter. He was gone in the blink of an eye.
Engineer didn't care. As long as it's gone it's gone.
Oh little does he know.
So, yes it's short but don't worry. The usual chapters will be back to the magical 1000 words and above.

Scout woke up. Just another day in Ponyville. He gazed out his window, he watched the ponies frolicking around doing their usual business. Then, Rainbow Dash walked up next to him. And rested her head on his shoulder.
"Sleep well last night?"
Scout had moved in with Rainbow Dash about a month after they got in a relationship. Scout had demolished his cloud mansion, packed his things and moved in with Rainbow. All in all, he still got the good view. And he had a nice mare to spend most of his time with.
Scout nodded. He left the window and grabbed his gear. He put on his earpiece, his black cap and he was ready to roll. Scout thought of what he could do. Oh yea, absolutely nothing. Scout shrugged, there never was anything fun to do here. He had tried anything stupid there was to do. Done every deed there was and saved Ponyville from everything there was to save from.
"See ya later Skittles."
Scout leaped off the porch and headed to Sugarcube Corner to grab a quick bite. He met Pinkie Pie in there. Obviously, he said hi, grabbed his freshly baked cupcakes and flew off. He had his box of cupcakes in his mouth. He sat on a cloud and ate.
He stared at the blue sky above. Thinking about all the possibilities, he still hadn't completed some of his stunts yet. He could try and perfect them now. But first he'd need to calm himself down and choose the location he was going to do it.
Scout finished his cupcakes and took off. He flew high above the clouds. He was preparing to do his new signature move, "Drop It Like It's Hot". He did this by flying high enough, then flying downward so fast he would basically turn into a comet, and just before he crashed, he would pull up and slow down. He didn't know how much force it would put on his wings but he didn't mind.
Scout wasn't sure if his wings could handle the pressure. He checked them once more to make sure everything was okay and flew up to his target height, 30,000 feet. He would pull up right in front of town hall, this was sure to grab the attention of everypony.
Scout prepared. He let out deep breaths of air. He calmed himself down and refrained from thinking about crashing into the ground. Medic could fix any injury. But Scout wasn't scared of injuries. He was scared of failure .
Scout muttered a silent prayer and dived. The G force could have torn his face off. Scout kept his wings closed the whole time for maximum speed. He felt fire engulf him, it felt warm instead of burning hot though. He continued, the ground speeding towards him, Scout opened his wings in the last second, he flew through the town, a trail of fire blazing behind him making him look like the DeLorean from Back To The Future.
Scout slowed down and stopped. His body still felt hot though. He looked at his hooves. They were burning red, Scout touched a plant and it instantly caught fire. A grin started to form on Scout's face as he discovered his new ability. He put his hoof in a pond. The hoof instantly cooled down. Scout jumped in the pond and cooled himself.
Scout dried off. He saw a pony in the distance. He was blue and was swinging a bat like crazy. Scout raised an eyebrow. He was in the outskirts of the Everfree Forest. Nopony ever came here. Scout approached the pony and heard a robotic voice grow louder as he got closer. When he reached the pony, Scout was shocked.
This pony had blue eyes, as if his eyes were blue light bulbs. Scout observed the pony, it was blue, it had a half-assed paint job, and was swinging a bat like crazy. The robot turned around and saw Scout. He charged at Scout like a bat out of hell.
Scout leaped out the way and took out his Scattergun. With one shot he blasted the robot to pieces. Scout took as many parts of the robot and walked back to the town. He looked for Spy. The calmest one of them all.
Spy observed the robotic carcass for a while and made a conclusion.
"It is a robot."
"Ya don't say?"
Spy raised an eyebrow.
"I mean this is no ordinary robot. This was made to destroy Mann.co."
Spy saw the confused look on Scout's face and explained.
"These blasted machines have been attacking Mann.co recently. They wanted to plant the bomb, but so far the combined efforts of the RED team and BLU team have kept them out."
Scout couldn't believe his ears.
"So, you're saying the reds and blues are working together?"
"Exactly."
Scout didn't care about that. He wanted one answer only.
"Why are they here?"
Spy continued observing the carcass and muttered a simple answer.
"I don't know."
Spy and Scout knew what was coming. Scout thanked Spy and headed off. He went to look for Medic. Medic had way more experience when it came to these things. Medic had faught them before. Medic would know what to do.
Scout ran to the Hospital where Medic worked. Medic was in the lobby waiting. Scout produced the mutilated robot head. Medic went pale. He took the robot head and stared at it for a few seconds.
"How did you-"
"Found it near the woods."
Medic looked up. He looked kinda scared.
"Let's gather zhe team first."
In a matter of minutes the four of them were at the outskirts of the forest. Spy looked around and tried to find a way that the metal monstrosity might have used to come over.
"I cannot find anything that will be of use to us."
Scout gave up and said goodbye. Before he could walk away, he heard the sound of giant, metal footsteps.
Chapter 2: The First Wave
As I have mentioned before, I updates will be less frequent. But I will try my best. In contrast to my promise, I will finish this story by November, just in time so you guys can enjoy Season 3 of MLP.
Scout turned around to find one of the weirdest things he's ever seen. It was basically a bomb on two robot legs. It shook and had what could be considered a stroke. Heavy and Scout looked on in confusion, until suddenly Medic gave out an ear drum destroying yell.
"HIT ZHE DECK!"
Everyone dived for cover and the huge bomb blew up, leaving a crater almost the size of Rainbow Dash's home. Spy got up and brushed his suit. Still as calm as ever, Medic was panicking like a madman while Heavy and Scout tried to piece together what just happened.
"Um, what the hell was that crap?"
"It was a Sentry Buster." Spy calmly replied
"But we ain't no sentries."
"Exactly. I am quite confused as to why it might come here."
Spy looked at all of them with dead seriousness. Not many ponies can look menacing while wearing a ski mask, but Spy managed.
"Let us never speak of this again."
"Ditto."
"Da "
"I agree with zhe Spy."
The were about to part ways, but all of a sudden, a swirling blue portal opened up again. This time another pony stepped out.
"Cream gravy!"
The pony had blue fur, a hard hat and goggles. It was Engineer. Scout breathed a sigh of relief. Finally they have someone that can help them solve this mystery.Scout grabbed him by the shoulders and asked the question that was on everyone's mind.
"How the hell is this here?"
Scout produced the metal robot head from earlier.
"Dag-nabbit damn it! Those darn contraptions made it here already?"
Engineer decided to build a sentry, better safe than sorry. Engineer would stand guard for today, tomorow would be Scout's turn.
Meanwhile......
Fluttershy and Applejack were near the Everfree Forest looking for a lost bunny. When all of a sudden, they saw a blue pony. He seemed to be carrying what looked like a rocket launcher. Applejack took a step closer while Fluttershy stayed behind.
Applejack approached the pony, it immediately turned and fired a rocket. AJ dodged it, the rocket flew and missed Fluttershy by inches. Fluttershy yelped and hid behind a bush. Applejack turned her attention towards the maniac.
"What in tarnation?"
She noticed that the pony was metal. Had rivets all around and a horrible paint job. The robot was about to fire another rocket, but Applejack kicked him. It didn't really do anything other than give AJ a huge pain in the hooves. The robot tilted his head sideways and aimed.
Applejack knew this was the end, she was going to die thanks to a stupid robot pony. When all of a sudden, bullets riddled the machine. He collapsed, AJ looked up and found a blue pony in a hard hat with a shotgun looking down on her.
"You ladies shoulda' oughta' brought some menfolk with ya."
"Gee, thanks mister."
Engineer helped Applejack up. Engineer tipped his hat and went off to go build another sentry. Applejack couldn't help but feel a bit of blood rush to her face. Not only did this pony actually have the same way of speech as her, he saved her life.
Applejack shook it off and went to calm Fluttershy. Once Fluttershy calmed down they continued looking for the bunny. Eventually they found the little furball. Fluttershy thanked AJ and left.
Meanwhile......
Scout was soaring through the skies. Enjoying the fine weather, Scout decided to try and do as many barrel rolls as possible. What could possibly go wrong?
Scout hit the barrel rolls and was soon on the ground, stumbling around in a daze. He didn't remember doing barrel rolls to be so difficult. Scout threw up. Barely missing Rainbow Dash.
"Hey watch it!"
"Sorry Skitz!"
Scout decided to have some fun, he flew off into the distance and targeted Rainbow's cloud. He flew and kicked the cloud, Rainbow fell, screaming, but Scout managed to catch her before she turned into a grease spot.
"That was fun wasn't it?" Scout said with a chuckle
"You almost gave me a heart attack!"
"Easy Skitz, just a joke."
Scout let her down on a cloud and went to go check on Engineer. Upon reaching he found Engineer building as many sentries as possible. Scout raised an eyebrow and landed.
"Yo wassup?"
Engineer gave him a glance and Scout could see the stress behind those goggles. Scout knew that he wasn't messing around.
"Son, go get the team."
Scout went and gathered the team. When they arrived, a line of robots were already coming in. The sentries were doing a pretty good job. But some of the robots still passed through.
"Son, I'm gonna blow that dumb look right off your stupid face if you don't come down and help."
Scout flew down and blasted the robots. A sentry buster would come by once in a while, but the sentries would get to it before it could blow up.
Scout remembered fighting like hell. Medic gave him a Ubercharge once in a while, but he focused mainly on heavy. When the robots were destroyed, it looked like a junk yard.
"I was told we would be fighting men!" Heavy said with a laugh
Scout breathed a sigh of relief, before giant metal footsteps were heard once again. Scout waited, the footsteps got louder and louder until they seemed to be right behind them. Scout turned to find a huge metal soldier. He had a nuke on his back and a huge rocket launcher.
Scout could only stare in shock. The robot disregarded them and walked towards Ponyville. Scout took a moment to realize what was happening. Then he finally unfroze and ran to attack the behemoth.
Hope this chapter didn't feel rushed. If it did feel rushed I apologize, but I have to work on other fan fics too.
Chapter 3: First War of Equestria
Before we get on to the story, I want to thank batran for the chapter names. Most of them were suggested by him. And also a thanks to Menoshe for the story name too. Keep the comments coming. You guys are awesome!
Scout hopped onto the back of the giant soldier. He struggled to find a control panel or something, there was absolutely nothing. Scout decided to pull out his Scattergun and blasted away at the soldier's head. heavy blocked the machine, causing it to trip. Spy sapped the contraption but it was no use. Medic Ubercharged Heavy. Heavy kicked the robot so hard that it's head rolled off.
The team breathed a sigh of relief. Only to findout a new wave of machines had arrived and were making their way towards Ponyville. Scout yelled in frustration and flew towards the town. He found out all the machines were headed towards one entrance and one entrance only.
Scout flew and found out that two red ponies were holding them back. He took a closer look and saw that it was a RED Demoman and a RED Pyro. Demoman gave Scout a nod and went on with blasting robots.
Scout spotted Sniper and a group of Celestia's guards battling the robots too. Even Skittles and the gang were in on it. Twilight was doing her magic left and right, Rainbow Dash would fly in and kick a robot once in a while, Applejack was bucking like mad. Rarity was well, hiding along with Fluttershy. Even Pinkie was blasting robots with her party cannon.
Scout chuckled and flew off. he found a deserted street that was about to be overrun by robots. The only form of defence was Rainbow Dash high in the sky, Derpy Hooves and a couple of guards. Scout shrugged and charged. He fought like he never fought before. Dodging and bonking, rolling and blasting.
Eventually the robots were dead. Everyone was exhausted, but they were relieved that they're city wasn't under attack anymore. Scout looked for Medic to get patched up. Apparantly alot of ponies got hurt because there was a line over a mile long. Scout sighed and waited in line. Rainbow Dash went behind him and flashed him a cheeky smile. She looked okay, other than a few scratches and bruises, she was fine.
Eventually Scout got treated and flew back towards Rainbow's home. He went in and collapsed. He had excellent stamina, but he was exhausted. A whole day of robot battling was hard work. Scout climbed in bed and tried to sleep. He couldn't fall asleep at all, he knew the damn robots were going to strike again, and somewhere deep down he knew that his time was coming.
Eventually, Rainbow climbed in bed with him. He instantly felt his whole body relax. RD just had this kind of effect on him. Whenever she was nearby he would for some reason feel relieved and relaxed. He closed his eyes, ready to get a good night's sleep.
Scout woke up the next morning and ran towards the window. He found out there was nothing wrong and breathed a sigh of relief. Scout walked back to his bed and stared at the pony known as Rainbow Dash. She looked so peaceful asleep. Scout dreaded knowing that one day his time would come and he would have to leave her side.
Scout stroked her mane for a while and went to go put on his gear. Earpiece and cap ready, Scout headed out and looked for Engie.
Scout raised an eyebrow, Engineer flashed him grin. Scout waved and flew back, relieved that nothing was happening yet. Scout went to a nearby cafe and ordered some hay fries. He ate and watched the fields. Expecting a robot or two to pop out.
After lunch Scout went to Fluttershy's to hang out with Heavy. As soon as he arrived he found Spy knocking at the door.
"Wassup?"
"Zhe Engineer thinks another wave is approaching. We must be ready."
Scout let out a sigh of dissapointment and waited for Heavy. eventually the three of them headed towards the fields and found Engineer together with a bunch of REDs. One of which was Demoman, he flashed a smile at Scout, sure they tried to take over and Demoman had broken Scout's bat, but this was serious, they had to form an alliance or they would never win.
Scout and the others waited for the wave. And soon it came, this one seemed even larger than the last one. Scout fought hard, he lost sight of the others in the sea of metal. He heard Heavy somewhere in the distance say "More rubble, less trouble!" alongside would be Medic, Ubercharging Scout or anyone else occasionally. Spy was sapping bots like crazy, he looked pretty badass, not breaking a sweat. Blasting bots with his revolver and what not. Even Pyro was setting practically everything on fire, Sniper would pick them off one by one, Demoman would take them out with his grenades and swords.
When the battle was done, Scout was panting, and so was everyone else. They waited for anything else, and they heard the sound of huge metal footsteps. They couldn't help but notice that the footsteps were faster than the others.
Then a giant robot Scout burst through the portal and ran for the town. Scout hopped on it's back and began finding weaknesses for it. Scout found the control panel and pried it open. he ripped out the wires and eventually, the machine stopped. Scout leaped off the metal deathtrap, but the machine tilted ever so precariously and fell on top of Scout.
Everypony was silent as they heard absolutely nothing from the giant contraption. Heavy rushed over and picked the metal body up. Demoman ran in and dragged Scout out. They waited anxiously as Medic came in and checked his pulse. Medic checked his heartbeat, pulse, breathing, anything that would indicate he was alive.
Eventually Medic got up. He had a sad look on his face. He looked at Spy and shook his head.
On the day of the funeral, the pegasus ponies left a rain cloud over them, upon request from the Spy. They had played Coldplay's Viva La Vida because Heavy remebered Scout telling him about how when he died he wanted that specific song to be played.
Everyone was silent as they stared at the body of Scout. This wasn't a broken bat, but an actual pony. He had fought bravely, but his time had eventually come. When they lowered the casket, Heavy had tears rolling down his cheeks, but he kept a straight face. Spy looked on in sadness and left.
Rainbow Dash was the last one. She stayed and gave one last glance at the final resting place of her lover. She blinked back tears and flew back to her home. She entered the home and leaped on her bed. She let the waterworks out. She was expecting Scout to hop in through the window like last time, but no such thing. She buried her head in the pillows as sobs were heard across the night sky.
Yes, Scout is dead. This isn't his bat this isn't a joke. He's really dead. But the story isn't over yet.
Lulz Scout is dead. I don't know why you guys keep saying Scout will respawn, but here's the truth. Scout isn't in this chapter. Get the message? He's dead. Gone. Went to heaven. This chapter might be a bit shorter because I'm kinda lazy today.
Rainbow Dash woke up feeling sore and tired. She hadn't gotten much rest from last night, she looked at the picture that stood beside her bed. She remembered this portrait, it was when Scout had first brought her out on a date. On the picture Scout looked brave, confident, as if he was ready to take on anything in the world. Rainbow remembered those icy blue eyes, the way he would play tricks on her.
Rainbow Dash put the picture down and headed for the bathroom. She looked in the mirror and found out her eyes were still red and puffy from crying. She chuckled upon remembering her adventures with Scout, she always wanted to try new things. Either that or she was just really horny all the time.
Rainbow Dash shook it off and put on her brave face. She leaped out the door and soared through the sky. With the wind blowing in her ears, and her rainbow mane whipping around she flew towards Scout's final resting place.
Rainbow walked up to the grave and stared at it for a while. The tombstone simply said
Here lies Scout he ran fast and died.
Rainbow looked on, hoping for something, anything, to show that he was still alive. It was kinda ironic having his own giant metal twin crush him. Rainbow sighed and flew off to clear the clouds. She cleared the pesky clouds and earned another easy 200 bits.
Rainbow had pestered Medic to see if there was anything he could've done. But, Medic told her that his Medigun could heal wounds, not cheat death. After clearing the clouds Rainbow Dash went to take a nap on the clouds. In a complete reenactment of last night, she couldn't get any sleep. She tossed and tumbled, basically did everything that she could.
Rainbow Dash flew back to her home instead, she didn't want anyone to see the emotional side of her. She trudged into her home and went into her bedroom. She leaped onto her bed and let out the tears. She didn't want to see anyone, not Pinkie, not AJ, Not Twilight, not anypony. She just wanted to be alone.
Meanwhile......
Heavy and the team stood at the ready, the next wave could come at any moment. Then, a batch of robotic Demoman burst through and charged. Heavy's eyes glowed with hatred, He was absolutely merciless, bashing heads and basically causing all out hell.
The others were no different, they fought bravely and did not stop. Even Medic was kicking ass with his bonesaw. Engineer was seen smashing heads with his wrench, Pyro blasted everything except the other team, and Demoman was l;aunching grenades left and right.
By the time they were done, the robots had been reduced to nothing but scraps. They heard the familiar giant metal footsteps and they prepared. This time however, It was two giant Heavies, accompanied by a tank. The team was exhausted but they tried their best.
Basically speaking, they got their ass handed to them. They had already wasted their ammo and energy on the robots, but this was too much. Enginner tried to find a weak spot, Spy was trying to sap the thing, Heavy kept bashing his giant metal counterparts, but the machines simply shrugged off the bullets and forged on. Basically speaking they did not give a damn.
The team stopped and watched in horror as the giant metal monstrosities stomped towards Ponyville. Out of nowhere, a blue pony charged towards the metal giants in what could have gone down as one of the most badass moments in history.
One of the giant metal Heavies turned to blast him with his minigun, but the pony leaped and grabbed the huge gun, swinging it towards the other Heavy.
The minigun fired and the other Heavy was riddled with bullet holes, then he seemed to shift weight, causing the minigun to fire at the tank, the tank blew up in a enormous cloud of smoke, the Heavy stumbled for a while before collapsing.
The team stared, they gave a moment of silence for their unsung hero. The now probably dead hero who saved Ponyville.
Shortly afterwards......
Rainbow Dash had eventually cried herself to sleep, she woke up when she heard footsteps. Rainbow didn't bother to get up. Since Scout died nobody came here except Derpy. Rainbow sighed, she went tried to fall asleep again. Just as she was about to doze off, the sound of walls banging woke her up. She panicked, Derpy never came in her house. And Scout was dead, so who could it be?
Rainbow Dash froze when she heard the footsteps right outside her door. The doors flew open and Rainbow Dash could only stare at the figure in shock and disbelief, it was a completely black pegasus pony, he had a fit slim body and a familiar mane. Rainbow felt like she should remember this pony.
The pegasus gave a sly grin and took a step forward.
I told you he wouldn't be in this chapter.
Hey guys, sorry if the chapter is short and crappy. Feeling kinda off lately. The story will be on hiatus, but don't worry I'll try my best to finish it up by November.
Rainbow stared in shock at the figure that stood before her.
"W-what do you want?"
The figure gave a sly grin and shook like a dog, revealing blue fur, a cap accompanied by a yellow and black earpiece. The pony had a huge grin on his face.
"Dont'cha remember me Skitz?"
Rainbow stared at him for awhile before tackling Scout with a hug. Almost suffocating him. Scout chuckled and held her at arms length.
"Looks like somebody missed me."
Rainbow Dash had a glimmer in her eyes, she truly did miss Scout, but an important question was on her mind.
"How are you still here?"
Scout's grin seemed to grow larger.
"Respawn baby. Respawn."
Rainbow Dash assaulted him with another batch of kisses as Scout tried to defend himself.
"Easy Skitz, easy."
Scout stared into the rose red eyes of Rainbow Dash once again and let out a chuckle. Scout gave her a peck on the cheek before taking off. Scout soared the skies looking for his teammates. He found them at the portal waiting.
"Took you long enough." Demoman said
"The respawn times here are gonna kill me someday." Scout chuckled
"Anyways, good to see you back laddie."
They turned their attention back to the portal and braced themselves for the worse.
Hi there! Slingshot here. So, um, lately I haven't been able to write anything, no new chapters, no sequel, nothing. So I'm stopping Mare vs Machine. But don't worry, any one out there who wants to adopt the story and continue writing it is welcome. Just give me a message before you do.
Here you go guys. I decided that if i'm not going to continue this story I mind as well give you an ending. Be it a short and horrible one.
Scout and the team were waiting at the outskirts of Ponyville, They waited the next batch of vicious metal maniacs. And out they came. They basically flooded the whole field, Scout had traded in his bat for a Scattergun. As soon as the metal heaps of junk came out, they fired.
Not a single bullet was wasted that day as everyone fought for their lives. Scout didn't mind about the others. He had too much on his own hands right now. Scout had just finished blasting the wave before a new one popped out. Scout screamed in outrage and charged forth.
The sea of metal engulfed him, but not for long, he soon had almost all of them cleared out. The team cheered on their huge victory. But it was short-lived.
A rumble shook throughout Ponyville as the massive object made it's way through the portal. Everypony gawked in disbelief at the huge mass of metal. It barreled it's way into the universe. It was a huge blue carrier. it was probably a mobile factory, more robots poured out the thing.
Scout didn't have time to fight. He flew up to the cockpit where two robotic Heavies were manning the ship.
"KNOCK KNOCK CHUCKLENUTS!"
Scout bashed the glass open and burst into the machine. The two Heavies were programmed to man the ship, not fight, so Scout bashed one of the Heavy's faces into the control panel. The other Heavy continued steering the machine, Scout blasted him through the head and he went limp. The huge ship careened into a mountain and blew up causing a shockwave to ripple throughout all of Equestria.
Everypony made their way towards the ruined ship. The black burnt metal showed no signs of life. They waited for something, anything, but alas, nothing came out. Then, a single blue arm thrust out and everybody gave a cheer, the figure rose out the pile of scrap showing: A robot.
The crowd went silent as the robotic menace raised it's bat high above. Then, a hoof was placed on his neck, it was pulled backward, causing the head to be yanked off.
The blue pony known as Scout stood atop the pile of scrap. Scout was breathing heavily as he made his way down the remains of the metal monstrosity. His team congratulated him and gave him hoofshakes and pats on the back. Scout responded by passing out.
When he woke up again, he was in the hospital. Again. He looked around and found the Medic with a clipboard.
"So, what's up doc?"
The Medic raised an eyebrow and stared at him.
"Broken wings, fractured leg, and a major case of brain damage."
"WHAT!?"
"Just kidding. Your brain's fine. But I can't say the same for your body."
Scout sighed and slumped back into the bed.
"By zhe way, someone's here too see you."
Scout turned just in time to see the door opened. He saw a sleek cyan blue body emerge, accompanied by a beutiful rainbow mane and tender magenta eyes.
"Hiya Skitz."
Rainbow gave him a grin while Medic fled the room. As soon as he left, Rainbow climbed on top of him and gave him probably one of the most seductive looks in the universe.
"Now, lick."
