It was a fine day for a tea party. Then again, in Indestructible Diamond’s very considered and wise opinion, there was no such thing as a day that wasn't a fine day for a tea party.
Were you depressed? Tea would perk you right up! Were you excited? Tea would calm you down. If you were cold, it'd warm you up, and if you were hot, it'd cool you down.
Ah, such wise words to live by. Indestructible wished she met a man who shared the same wisdom. Anyone possessing such insight on tea surely had to be a wonderful person. It was too bad she had yet to find such a boy at Canterlot High.
It had taken quite a bit of wheedling, but she'd managed to persuade her older cousins, the Invincible sisters, and their half sister Indefatigable to approve all of her supply requests, and now she could finally give a proper tea party. That Pinkie girl, her heart was in the right place, but confetti and streamers did not make for a proper tea party. Humming, she laid out the teacups, teapot, and snacks on the table which she'd set up under the shade of a large tree in her cousins’ back garden. The weather was nice enough out here, with a nice breeze, clear blue skies and a bright shining sun. Now, the only thing remaining for the perfect tea party was, of course, her guests.
There was just enough time to double check her appearance, it wouldn’t do well to be under or over dressed. A glance at the hallway mirror revealed a pretty face with pale skin, brown eyes and equally brown long hair in a simple, straight style. Her ensemble consisted of a thin light pink jacket over a white blouse and blue jeans with brown heels. Despite her casual look, Indestructible looked absolutely stunning at the moment. Any thought of changing outfits was thrown out the window with the chime of the doorbell.
Her guests were here and on time.
Octavia Melody was the first one to show up along with Vinyl Scratch, the latter strolling in nonchalantly with a hand raised in greeting. And then finally Rarity and her sister Sweetie Bell, both giving Indestructible small, ladylike bows, and then gracefully taking their seats at the table.
With everyone present, Indestructible stood at the front of the table.
"Welcome! Don't be shy, everybody! We're all here to enjoy the marvelous beverage that is tea! Now, come on, everyone, drink up! There's plenty of tea, scones and crumpets for everyone!"
"Don't mind if I do! Cheerio!" Vinyl Scratch was already munching away on a butter-slathered crumpet by then, even as Sweetie Belle took a small sip of her tea, followed by a bigger one as her eyes widened.
“I apologize for Vinyl’s lack of decorum.” Octavia took a sip herself, then turned to Indestructible. "This is excellent tea, Miss Indestructible."
"Of course! I brewed it with every ounce of passion I had, after all!"
"Well, it certainly seems to have done the trick." Octavia said with a smile. "Now, is that strawberry jam and honey I see over there?"
As Vinyl polished off her fourth scone, Sweetie Belle was still eyeing her plate nervously.
"Now then! Why aren't you eating? These scones are delicious, I promise! After all, they were baked with the fires of my burning love!"
Sweetie Belle let out a nervous little giggle. "Sorry. The last time I had scones was when I tried making them for Rarity and I served them in a bowl."
"Don't worry! Just give it a try!"
Sweetie Belle nodded hastily, even as she each cut a small piece off her scone and spread some jam on it, before popping it into her mouth. As her eyes lit up, Vinyl didn't bother holding back her laughter, and neither did Indestructible.
"Try 'em with cream and jam next! You'll never want to eat them without either again!" Vinyl called out laughingly.
As Sweetie Belle started in on the rest of her scones in earnest, Indestructible leaned back in her chair, a steaming cup of tea held in front of her. Octavia was now chatting idly with Vinyl Scratch. Rarity sighed as she used a napkin to clean Sweetie Belle’s face of crumbs. Turning towards the older sister, Indestructible gave Rarity a small smile.
“And how are you today?"
"Quite well, thank you." Rarity answered after cleaning Sweetie Belle’s face of crumbs. "It's always nice to see people take an interest in the better things in life. Good weather, good food and good company.”
“This is so much fun!” Sweetie Belle said as she started bouncing in her seat.
"It is rather enjoyable, but a lady never bounces around in their seat. A lady keeps her excitement evident only in her speech, and she is always calm and poised." Rarity grabbed her teacup and politely sipped it.
Sweetie Belle wiggled in her seat as she copied Rarity's posture. She then grabbed her teacup and sipped it. Loudly.
"More tea, Rarity?" Indestructible asked as she picked up the tea pot.
“Yes, thank you.” She held out her teacup and watched as Indestructible filled it up. "Honestly, it's been a long week for me. I'm glad I have this chance to unwind." Rarity said before taking a sip of tea.
"A long week? Aren't all weeks just seven days?" Sweetie Belle asked after helping herself to more tea.
"No Sweetie. What I mean is that I've had a stressful week." Rarity answered.
"Oh! That makes sense." Sweetie Bell sipped at her tea. "Why was it so stressful?"
Watching the peaceful scene, Indestructible smiled. Now this was the proper way to spend a day. Yes, she still had her regrets and worries, as well as homework to finish for her math class, but here and now, she was going to enjoy her school days to the fullest in this new school, and one day with her sisters as well.
