A Generous Amount Of Affection
Author's Note
This was my first time writing in second person and anything relating to romance. I hope I somewhat succeeded at it.
A Generous Amount Of Affection
Your day hasn't been great. You didn't get much sleep last night, you had a terrible day at work, that one coworker that you dislike had to come to work today, you had to work overtime and after all that, it just had to rain on your way home. On the only day that you didn't bring a umbrella with you. Oh, and you think you might have caught a cold.
You find yourself running past other pedestrians who of course had taken umbrellas with them. You can feel that the insides of your shoes are absolutely soaked. It really wasn't your day.
Luckily you live relatively close to your job so it didn't take long for you to find your apartment building. You quickly enter and sigh as you close the door behind you. Your steps leave wet splotches on to the floor as you ascend to the second floor where a familiar door greets your eyes. You fish your keys from your pocket and quickly insert them into the keyhole.
The door opens, letting you see the orderly apartment within, you can hear the sound of your girlfriend humming, a sign that she's hard at work. You quickly take your shoes off and take a beeline towards the shower. As you pass by a few pictures of you and your girlfriend that had been framed and hanged up on the wall, you barely hear her sweet voice call out to you from the living room. "Darling? Is that you? I hope you didn't get wet out there."
"I didn't." Is the only thing you can reply with, before you make your way to the bathroom and you enter the shower. Usually when she was humming that meant she was deeply in the process of making something, so you didn't want to ruin the moment for her. As the water cascades around you, your mind lingers on your girlfriend.
The question of how did you ever get so lucky rings in your head. She's so out of your league that sometimes it seems almost like a dream to wake up next to her. You chuckle at a particular memory, of you waking up next to her on the first morning you moved together. Her hair was an absolute mess when you both woke up, she of course had to fix it the moment she awoke but you thought it looked absolutely adorable.
Soon you were done showering, you dried yourself off with a towel and put on some fresh clean clothes. You decide to check up on your girlfriend, to see how she's doing. It's totally not like you want her attention or anything. Plus she's not humming anymore, which means this is the perfect time for a sneak attack.
You enter her workspace and slowly creep up behind her, your arms spread wide, ready for your glomp attack. As soon as you get close your arms wrap around her waist and you hug her from behind. You smirk as an audible squeak escapes Rarity's lips.
"Anon! You scared me!" She lightly slaps the back of your hand.
"It's worth it to hear that adorable sound." You give her a quick squeeze before she turns to face you.
The soft smile quickly turns to that of surprise at seeing your face. "Oh darling! You look-"
"Like a zombie who just awoke from a grave?"
"I was going to say not your best. Is everything okay?" She raises the back of her hand to your forehead. "Darling, you feel like you're on fire."
"The ladies do say that I'm pretty hot." You flash her a quick smile.
"What ladies?" Rarity raises an eyebrow in a questioning manner.
"You of course." You boop your girlfriend on the nose and she gives you a simple smile in return.
"Go to bed and relax. I'll make you some soup and get you a few glasses of water." As she leaves the room you get comfortable in bed. As you wait for your soup, your mind focuses on a particular memory. It was of the last time that Rarity got sick. You remember coming home late from working overtime and you saw her overworking herself on one of her dresses. She was quite the mess, and you ended up having to talk her out of overworking so she might get some much needed rest. You did your very best to get her back in health again. Your personal remedy included soup, medicine, water and lots of affection.
Your thoughts were broken by the sound of humming coming from the kitchen. It seemed that Rarity was in a good mood today, you do recall that she had just finished a big order yesterday and that she sent them to her client earlier today.
The humming grew closer and soon Rarity entered the shared bedroom with a serving tray of soup, water and a few small vitamin tablets. "Now eat up, I don't want to see you sick for tomorrow. It'll be the weekend after all, and we have some plans tomorrow." She gave you the tray and sat down next to you in bed, she placed her hand on your shoulders and embraced you in a sideways hug.
"As much as I like the attention I don't want you to get sick. I don't mind if you go back to your work." To be honest you'd feel terrible if you got her sick.
"I won't get sick, but if I somehow would, then we'd just have to spend tomorrow here. Alone, just the two of us. Looking out for each other while we were sick. Besides, I was just making that dress for fun. I don't have any responsibilities for today." She leaned in a bit closer and gave you a peck on the cheek.
"But what about the plans for tomorrow?"
"Darling, spending time with you is all I need. Besides we can always push them back a bit. It's not going to be the end of the world if we do."
You felt Rarity rest her head on your shoulder as you turned on the TV that rested on a small cupboard opposite to the bed. You and Rarity both spent the rest of the night watching trash TV programs and enjoying each others company.
