Actually winning the contest feels like way too much of a gamble. Instead, you watch the other ponies trying to balance eggs on spoons and you keep your eyes on that tiara, waiting for the perfect moment. You don't have to wait long, it turns out. The winner catches a loose egg as it slips off her spoon, then tosses it into the basket as she loses balance.

As all eyes are on the basket, you leap up to grab the tiara right off the pony's head. You scramble away with your prize, grinning. "That was easy!" The last thing you see before you rush away is the irritated face of the queen as you flee into the crowd. A moment later, you're encompassed by an angry red aura of magic. You're dragged back towards the front.

"Caught you!" The unicorn, still hovering, plucks the tiara from your grasp. "I will not tolerate this treasonous behavior." She gets it back on her head. "Better. Now, for you." She gives you a little shake. "Time for punishments!"

You struggle and writhe in place, but you can't escape her powerful hold. It doesn't help that all the other ponies in town are watching and doing nothing. Not even a few hoots of support.

Her horn glows with malignant red energy, but you don't see much of it, at least with eyes that can comprehend it. A few moments later, she's hovering a helpless pet kitten in the air. "Nopony expects a cat to be loyal. At least you're not lying now, hm?"

You open your mouth to protest, but only a plaintive meow emerges. She drops you on the ground. The Queen grins wickedly as she rises above you. "There. Be happy in your new life." She waves her hoof. "This commoner is free to go."

This is not how you want your day in Ponyville to end.

The End.
