Previous ChapterNext ChapterOf course it couldn't be that easy. As you start to feel as though you're getting closer to your destination, a new group of ponies marches out from behind one of the dunes. They're lead by a lone mare. "You. Soft little thing. Just put down whatever you have and we'll let you trot on your way."
You blink at the strange pony. "I'm sorry, but I've got things to do. Like right now."
"Last chance." The pony snaps her hooves. A unicorn draws his horn and lifts you into the air with his magic.
You squeak, thrashing around in the air. "Hey! I don't even have anything worth talking about! I just need to get some hair for a party."
The mare blinks at this announcement. "Hair?"
"Yes! From a worm. A tatzlworm, specifically." You try to get your hooves on the ground, but you remain hovering. "Please? C'mon!"
The leader stares at you like you're insane. "What do you need that for?"
"I have no idea, I just needed to make it happen. It's a request from Pinkie Pie!" You tilt forward, still in the air. "Pink, earth pony, used to bear an Element of Harmony?"

You glance around nervously. "I'm not asking you to get it for me, just... can I go past? Please?"
The leader huffs. "I suppose that'll be fine. Look, if Pinkie learns we let somepony go up against the worm without our help, and we knew about it, she'd cancel all our birthdays! Forever!"
You pull a face. "Yeah, I know the feeling. Thanks. I'll tell her you were real helpful. Oh, and that I met a nice pony called Shaggy." You smile warmly.
The leader waves you onwards and falls in aside you. "I meant we're coming with you. Let's go take down a worm. I didn't even know they had hairs."
You consider it, but she seems intent. "If you really want to, but I don't think I'll need more than a bit of fur. I'm not gonna cut it."
She eyes you as you hike up one of the dunes. "It's a worm! How much 'fur' do you expect on the average worm? Let's go."
