Author's Note

Hey everyone. Sorry, it’s been a while. I’ve had a bit of writers block with my bloodborne story, so to try and get my creative juices flowing, I’m starting a new story! Hope you enjoy.

Prologue: the air grows warmer around you

Deep in the jungle, far from any civilization’s, there lies an arena. Within, the ground is littered with scorch marks and broken arrows, as well as the occasional bone. Within the center of this arena, a lone being stands. Upon itself is a suit of armor, forged from the remains of the devourer of gods. On its back, a pair of green feathered wings, and in its hand, a large, purple straight sword with a fanned cross guard, and a single purple gem in the center of the hilt. Within its other hand, a single, cracked egg. As it looks to the sky, it tightens its grip upon the egg, shattering it. As the pieces of shell fall to the ground, the air begins to warm around them.

Within canterlot castle, a young unicorn girl prepares for her entrance exam. Even with her parent’s comforting words, she is still incredibly nervous. Her lavender eyes shift around, as she quickly re-reads the exams rules. She does not want to even risk thinking about messing up. Within the next hour, she would be in front of the judges, where she will perform whatever they require for the exam. She tries to calm down by doing some breathing exercises, and continues her wait.

The being jumps back, as a large red drake lands where it once was. The dragon looks up, straight into their eyes, before he speaks.
“Terrarian, chosen to destroy the empire of my master. You have faced much, and come out victorious. You have beaten dangerous horrors, from the eye of Cthulhu, all the way to the devourer of gods itself. But you shall go no further. I shall stop you, and ensure that my old friend’s empire does not fall today!”
With that, the dragon takes off once more, and the terrarian grips their weapon tightly, before flying up after him.

Two hours have passed, and twilight grows more anxious. She has seen several students enter before her, and every time one of them comes out, they look dejected, as if they failed. Her anxiety steadily climbs, and the breathing exercises have lost much of their effectiveness. She closes her eyes, and tries to clear her mind, but before she is successful, the door to the testing chamber opens. A unicorn stallion, looks directly at her, before calling her name.
“Twilight Sparkle? Will you please come this way?”
Her parents quickly give her a hug, before getting up. She takes one last deep breath, before hopping off the chair she had been sitting on and heading towards the door.

Flames fly past the terrarian’s head, as they launch another projectile towards the dragon. As it pierces his flesh, he begins to fall from the sky, and the terrarian follows. The dragon crashed down with a thud, as the they land nearest it. They begin to walk over, thinking the battle was over, but stopped after a few steps. The air had begun to warm up again. Within a few seconds, it went from uncomfortably warm to downright boiling, as the dragon began to stand up again.Fires begin to sprout in the jungle, as a strange melody begins to play from no where. The Dragon finally stands up again, and his eyes begin to burn with a fury unlike any other.
“I will not fall to the likes of you. I am Yharon, last of my kind. DIVINE DRAGON OF REBIRTH! AND I WILL NOT LET YOU DESTROY ALL THAT HE AND I HAVE BUILT!”
A fiery tornado appears from the dragons mouth, before enveloping the terrarian.

Twilight now stands before a panel of judges. They look at her with contempt, before one of them begins to speak.
“Good morning young Twilight. Today, you shall be taking your entrance exam to Celestia’s school for gifted unicorns. Should you pass, you will be accepted into the school, and taught by the best mages and scholars the world has to offer.”
As the first once stops, another one begins to speak.
“For your exam, you shall be tasked with only one objective. However, your performance must be exemplary.”
“For your exam, you shall be tasked with hatching a dragon egg.”
As the final judge states this, an egg is wheeled in, and her eyes shrink to pinpricks.

The terraria man is engulfed by another jet of flames, but manages to hit the dragon in return. After an hour of fighting, both are reaching their limits. Yharon’s front right leg is half missing, and an eye hangs out of its socket. As for the terrarian, their arm is half cleaved off, while their armour is almost completely charred to the point of uselessness. Both realize it is their final chance to end this, and begin to charge. As they collide, a massive roar fills the air, and is heard almost all around the world. At this, a king upon his throne sheds a single tear.

Twilight stares at the egg for a moment. She has to hatch a DRAGON egg?! Her fear begins to bubble up, before she swallows it all back down. Her look of slight fear is replaced by a look of determination. The judges look on, noting down her reaction. As she walks up to the egg, her horn begins to glow, and she begins to channel mana through her horn.

The terrarian lands, before quickly chugging a health potion. As his wounds begin to mend, he walks up to the drake, now lying on the ground, with a sword pierced through his heart. He tries to breathe, but struggles on the blood now filling his throat. As he lays there dying, he looks to the sky, tears filling his remaining eyes.
“Forgive me, Yharim. My… brother. I failed. They have ascended… beyond our control. There is… nothing we can do. Goodbye, my old friend. Now… I finally… am reunited… with… my… kind. ”
With those final words, what little life was in the dragons eyes fades, before he bursts into flame. Within seconds, all that is left is ashes, and a pile of assorted gear. The wind picks up the ashes, and takes away what is left of the resplendent phoenix.

After 5 minutes of constant usage, her horn begins to fizzle out. As her magic dies on her horn, tears begin to form in her eyes. She sighs, and turns around.
“I’m sorry for wasting your time.”
The judges begin to nod, before writing something down as she walks away. Before she gets to the door, the judges call her back. She turns around, wondering what else they have for her, before a massive explosion echoes from outside.

Within the afterlife, a powerful soul appears. At first it just sits there, but then, a huge burst of magical power suddenly occurs. The soul, as powerful as it was, was naturally drawn to it, and began to float towards it. When at the epicenter of the magical flare, it observes some sort of creature, pouring an impossible amount of power into what appeared to be an egg. Before it could do anything, though, the soul began to be drawn to the egg. It attempted to escape, but the force drawing it in was to powerful. And as the soul is pulled into the egg, all of its Memories were ripped away.

Twilight had almost no idea what was going on. one moment, she had witnessed a massive rainbow explosion, and the next, she was having a magical flare. However, this time, instead of going everywhere, for some reason, her magic was being drawn to the egg. Before she blacked out from the strain, she noticed something happen to the egg. It had began to crack, and a small, purple feathered head with green eyes was poking out, looking directly at her.
