Final dying roar
Chapter 9: an urgent warning
Previous ChapterNext ChapterA week has passed since Gilda arrived in town, and not much has changed. Gilda had gotten moved in well and found a job, thanks to Rainbow. After a second welcome to Ponyville party, Gilda was fully apart of the community. Spike was glad to see her be accepted, because she needed a break. Spike continued to work for the weather team, and even got a small raise. Twilight began to hang out with her friends more and more, growing closer every day. And Thorax decided to see if he could help Fluttershy take care of the animals, which she gladly accepted. For some reason, he felt a familiar sort of bond to her, but he couldn’t tell why. Things were going well for the town. But for a town like Ponyville, things never go truly right.
Spike laid in his bed, thrashing around as he slept. Flashes of images assaulted his Mind yet again, before he was once more plopped within that familiar room, with the murals carved into the walls. Knowing where he was, he turned to the throne once more, only to be confused. For the throne was gone, and instead replaced with a pile of bones, with a red robes figure sitting upon it.
”So this is where you were flung off to, huh? A little to TV-Y for my tastes.”
”Who are you? What are you doing in this room? And why am I here again?!”
”Again? So the tyrant was already able to get to you after all. Damn.”
”You mean that gold guy who gave me the creeps? Yeah, I met him.”
”Oh-ho, never expected you of all creatures to call him creepy! You really are different, aren’t you?”
”What the hell is that supposed to mean?and why are we here?!”
”Easy there ya turkey, I was about to get to it.”
”You see, I came here to warn ya about a couple of things. First, is the fact that a series of chaotic events is about to be sprung into motion, and it will lead to the north of a new immortal. And you, your little boy toy, and your sister and all her friends will be at the center of it.”
”So even more long forgotten myths and legends coming to life to try and destroy the world. Great, it’ll be a great day, just like it was last time! Hopefully without the impalement.”
”Damn, sarcasm. Never expected you to grow a sense of humor. Anyways, yeah, lotsa monsters, some long forgotten, some eerily similar, and one, really, really pissed off cumulus, with a taste for the finer things in life. Like gems, and slavery, and long walks on the snow beach.”
”Who isn’t?”
”Heh, I like ya kid. So I’m gonna not be that vague with the second warning, just for ya!”
”Gee, thanks.”
”No problem chicken boy! Anyways, Yharim’s killed the Terrarian.”
”Okay, what the shit is that supposed to mean?”
”It means that one of the few creatures that could stand up to him is now six feet deep. I would try and stop the dumbass, but he’d just drive me mad again.”
”Yeah, the crazy dictator killing his only real threat does sound pretty bad. But why do I have to worry. We’re literally worlds apart!”
”Yeah, about that. When he’s done with our world, let’s just say he’s looking at his neighbors plate.”
”Me and my big mouth.”
” Nah, don’t worry just yet. There’s another dimension between us and you. Besides, his plans here aren’t finished just yet. He still has to kill the last of the gods, and take over the rest of the universe. Just wanted to let you be able to prepare.”
”You make it sound as if he’s gonna conquer two universes in a year or two!”
”Yeah, cause he is. He may have lost most of his friends, including the orange chicken on the murals, but he still has the most powerful witch in the universe enslaved, as well as the genius and insane robot scientist with a giant godly death robot. Yeah, things don’t look to good right now.”
”Thats a massive fucking understatement!”
”Nah, it’ll be fine. After all, he’s gonna have to go against you!”
”WHAT.”
”What, have you not figured it out yet ya stupid bird? You’ve got powers. Incredible powers. And you’ve only just scratched the surface of what you can do. Should you get good enough, you could destroy worlds, and kill gods. Most importantly, you could free me.”
”And how am I supposed to do that?”
”Easy. I’ve got enough leeway and power to send you a book. It’s a book of the powers of… something similar to you. Y’should be able to learn whatever you need from it.”
”So, your gonna send me a book, filled with ancient power, in order for me to learn about my powers, so I can kill a multi-dimensional warlord. Let me guess, the reason you’re doing this is because you’re the god-tier witch he’s enslaved?”
”You’ve even got more intuition than I thought! Congrats, you guessed right.”
”Aren’t I gonna have to fight you? Are you worried I might kill you?”
”Nah, not really. Cause even if you kill me, I’ve got a back-up in place. Time magic fuckery can do wonders for avoiding a permanent death.”
And how do you know so much about me?! I’ve never met you before, but you seem to know more than I do!”
As Spike asks this, the room begins to shatter once more.
”Eh, you won’t remember most of this anyways, other than vague feelings, so I might as well tell you a bit. Your pow-“
But before she could finish, the room shattered.
As Spike awakens, he bolts up, covered in sweat. The memory of the dream meeting has already began to fade, as a concerned Thorax stirs awake.
”You okay hun?”
”Yeah, just a weird dream.”
”What was it about.”
”Thats the thing, I can’t really remember for some reason. All I know is that it’s given me a bad feeling. As if something has been put into motion, that could affect us all.”
Thorax gives his love a comforting hug, and kisses him in the cheek.
”It’ll be fine. As long as we’re together, we’ll get be able to get through anything.”
”Thanks Thorax, I needed that. I love you.”
”I love you too.”
As the two lie back down, embracing each other into slumber, they don’t notice the red flash of light, nor the book that falls into the fireplace. As it lands, golden magic sparks, causing it to be engulfed in flames. As the book burns, one would be able to see the title of it.
The last of the god- dragons: lore and powers of the resplendent phoenix Yharon: a study by King Yharim.
And if they listened closely, one might be able to hear the laughter of a tyrant.
Author's Note
A more foreboding chapter, hinting at what is to come. And don’t think that Spike will get those answers just yet! After all, the game has just begun.
