A short drop..

Starlights POV:

“What if they didn’t have too..?”

Starlight Glimmer said, as she hid behind a large jagged stone while looking at thorax. Landing infront of her was a large bug like pony with holes in their legs, their turquoise slit eyes staring at Starlight while growling. They spoke up as Starlight scrambled to get away, only to get caught by their tail getting grasped in their mouth.

“Ridiculous!”

The large pony like insect yanked her away from her cover and to a pair of changeling solders that quickly pinned her down before continuing what she was saying after leaning into her face.

“A changelings hunger can never be satisfied!”

As the large changeling walked away from her Starlight quickly spoke up in hopes of reaching an outcome that wouldn’t end with violence.

“Thorax left the hive then made a friend and shared love, now he doesn’t need to feed.”

Her words caused much confusion and questioning looks from the hundreds of changelings in the room, including Chrysalis, standing up without much resistance.

“You don’t need to live your lives starving all the time..!”

As you read the story a sudden crack in the screen opens up, a mysterious purple smoke entering your device before sealing up the crack…

Chrysalis POV:

Chrysalis was about to bring Starlight to her with magic when suddenly she spoke up, feeling completely lost in her actions.

“Do you think I would’ve done that if it was possible..? You claim that ponies will never need to fear us, yet when one of my changelings try…”

Chrysalis looked away, feeling angrier before staring at thorax.

“If it was that simple then we wouldn’t need to be such outcasts! We wouldn’t have to be driven into exile! We would have to worry about being slaughtered for existing! No… this is a fluke..! A fluke that will be examined properly..!”

Starlight let out a protested no as she reached for her, only to be held back by the same two changeling solders that held her down seconds ago.

With a quick glow of Chrysalis horn, she lifted thorax out of the sticky resin and into the air before slowly pulling out a small stream of love in a gentle way to determine if it was true. Thorax squirmed in her magical grasp as they spoke up in a pained voice.

“I can feel the love slipping away… I can’t hold on..!”

Chrysalis rose an eyebrow at the comment, hardly taking any from him as Starlight spoke up.

“Then don’t! Sharing love is what made you different in the first place. You should share yours with Chrysalis… Give her all of it.”

Chrysalis looked over at Starlight mouth open to explain what she was doing when a sudden force came from Thorax and launched her into her throne. The sound of Thorax metamorphosis covered the scream that came from Chrysalis, her chitin had cracked as a large crack formed in the throne. The ringing in her ears completely kept her distracted as her throne began to crack from magic. Looking up, Chrysalis eyes widened as her children gave their love to her and her throne which then exploded.

For several minutes, Chrysalis tried to regain her senses only to get up quickly. Shoving the broken stones of her old throne off her before hissing involuntary at Starlight only to go eyes wide at seeing the beards of harmony, rulers of equestria, rulers of the Crystal empire, a few other ponies and Discord with her changed children staring at her.

Before anypony could say a single word, Chrysalis shouted out loudly.

“How dare you do this to me…! Have you no loyalty to me..!?”

The changelings looked at eachother as they couldn’t decide on what to say which made Chrysalis furious.

“Fine! You don’t need me I get it! You all know what’s better for yourselves! I won’t waste my breath on this nonsense anymore!”

With a quick flap of her wings, Chrysalis flew off into the distance, hiding the fact that she was beginning to cry at their betrayal.

“Zzzz—Crash!”

Chrysalis sat up from her makeshift bed inside a very dark and damp cave, panting loudly as the clouds above the Everfree forest continue to cover the sky. With a groan, Chrysalis got up from the bed, before limping overt to a small reservoir of water inside the cave, before looking into the water. Her face was nearly completely thin and sickly as her dry and short mane was falling apart from her head and into the water. With a dry gulp, Chrysalis leaned down before gulping down the hair covered water without cleaning it out. Her pride as a leader was torn away from her by her children’s betrayal and after the mysterious incident that led her to being stuck without wing had drained any self worth and desire for anything but death. Chrysalis choked on the hair in her mouth that she drank before forcing it down into her stomach, which grumbled in hunger, as she began to look at her body. Where it once shined healthy with her majestic wings was replaced with an infected chitin, covered with old bloody medical wraps and lacking wings that could help the extremely thin Chrysalis fly.

With a sad sigh, Chrysalis walked up to the caves entrance to visit the guard that had been placed there since her discovery. It was a miracle that she wasn’t attacked but it would’ve been mercy that she did not deserve. The guard was a unicorn mare, shaking in her armor as they laid eyes on her. With a sad sigh, Chrysalis said softly.

“I’m not going to hurt you… in fact tell princess twilight that I’ll in ponyville tomorrow…”

The guard quickly ran off, wanting to get far away from the monster as possible and alert Twilight. Chrysalis waited a minute before sighing, looking at the creepy hollow tree that held a bundle of rope inside in case of emergencies. Chrysalis couldn’t help but use her magic and pull it out of the tree, fashioning into a noose before getting it attached to the strongest branch. With another glow of her magic, her body was encased in her magical aura before lifting her onto the tree’s branch. With the final bit of energy left inside her, Chrysalis wrapped the noose around her neck before her magical exhaustion kicked in and caused her to loose consciousness.

Twilight and her friends, except Fluttershy, were walking through a pathway through the forest, using a map to keep them on target. Applejack was the first to speak up.

“What do you think she wants to do In ponyville…? I reckon nothing good..”

Twilight nodded in agreement as Rarity spoke up on the matter.

“Well if she was telling the truth then why wasn’t she at ponyville..?”

Rainbow Dash flew in front of the group, locking hooves together, before giving her reasoning.

“I bet that overgrown bug wanted to escape! What a coward..”

Starlight looked at the group with a slight frown on her face, letting out a sigh before speaking.

“What discord did… still wasn’t right…”

Pinkie pie bounced up to starlight, wearing her trademark smile as she spoke.

“Discord thought they had hurt Fluttershy so he was just trying to show that he cares…”

The group had soon reached the last bush before going to Chrysalis’s hideout. Twilight spoke up, the group on edge.

“Ready..?”

The group nodded and with a determined look, Twilight and company passed the bush before entering the clearing. With a large gasp, Everypony saw a Chrysalis hanging from their neck at the large tree’s branch, slowly rocking in the wind as their malnourished and infected frame creepily made it seem that she was dead months ago. What really terrified them was seeing Chrysalis’s ,once menacing, eyes be a very dull gray and void of life.

Twilight looked at starlight, seeing the face of absolute horror on her face before hearing Starlight speak with terror in her voice.

“I…. I killed her…”
