//-------------------------------------------------------// Sunset Takes Sonata Out To Taco Bell -by Nudistsquid- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// A Romantic Taco Tuesday //-------------------------------------------------------// A Romantic Taco Tuesday Sonata has seen many things in her long, long lifetime. She’s seen humanity evolve, she’s seen empires rise and fall, she’s seen languages invented and discarded, the beginnings of centuries long cultures and institutions. But nothing, nothing has ever been as wondrous to her as what laid in front of her. She picked up the artificially colored orange taco shell, gazing at it like it was a long lost artifact retrieved from Atlantis (great city by the way, shame what happened to it). “So.....it’s a taco shell made from....” “Doritos, they’re a popular tortilla chip.” Sunset answered, unable to hide the growing smirk of amusement on her face as she watched her girlfriend gaze in utter awe at her Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Taco. It was getting some strange looks from the other Taco Bell patrons, but Sunset didn’t care, this is exactly what she loved about hanging out with Sonata. She just seemed to be fascinated by everything in the human world in a way her comparatively jaded sisters or even Sunset herself didn’t, and it wound up making her appreciate this world just a little bit more too, even something as silly as a Doritos taco. Sonata sniffed the taco, letting out a moan that made Sunset’s face heat up a little. She then took her first bite. Sonata’s senses were overwhelmed, the flavors! The chewy, savory texture of the beef! The crunchy lettuce serving as an excellent contrast and the cheese, always a necessity for any good taco. But the shell, the shell. It was an explosion of flavor, Sonata felt herself enter a state of utter euphoria as she let the dusty cheesy orange seasoning dance upon her taste buds, it was better than anything she had ever eaten and trust her, she has tried nearly every cuisine from every culture imaginable . Sunset watched Sonata devour the rest of the taco, which-being from Taco Bell- started to fall apart almost immediately after the first bite, the structure of the taco shell unable to support the wetness of the beef and lettuce. But Sonata didn’t seem to mind. “OH SUNSET!” She roared, bits of taco shell and beef flying from her mouth. “THIS IS THE BEST GIFT ANYONE HAS LIKE, EVER GIVEN ME!!!!” She screamed so loud that it echoed through the restaurant, earning more nasty looks from fellow customers with Sunset giving a hurried, awkward apology. But it didn’t do much to diminish the job she felt from her girlfriend as she immediately grabbed the second taco and housed it in one bite....which has to really hurt but Sonata seemed too deep into her cheesy, dusty bliss to feel it. One comment from her did give Sunset pause however. “Wait.....I mean, Sonata don’t get me wrong I’m like, really happy that you’re enjoying this this much but, this is really the best gift you’ve ever gotten? In the like centuries you’ve been alive, this three Doritos Locos combo meal from Taco Bell I bought for twelve bucks is the highlight of your life?” Sonata was washing her second taco down with a big gulp of her sugar free Baja Blast, letting out a content sigh before turning to her girlfriend. “Well....I mean. I love my sisters and all but....” She started playing with her blue ponytail, a tick she always indulged in whenever she was forced to talk about a topic she wasn’t comfortable with. “You know how they are, they're not really like the....sentimental type.” Sunset immediately hopped off her side of the booth to sit right next to Sonata, wrapping an arm around her as she nuzzled her big, strong, loving girlfriend. “Holy shit like, with how long the three of you have been alive for, they’ve never given you anything?” Sunset asked in disbelief. “Like, you’ve told me that for a long time the three of you were all any of you had, they never once like, did anything for you?” Sonata shook her head, complete with a little sniffle that broke Sunset’s heart and made her want to go have a Totally Friendly Chat with Adagio and Aria later. Sunset thought back to her first few years in the human world after arguing with Princess Celestia, how she felt completely unloved and alone as she tried to navigate a world and culture she didn’t understand and seemed actively hostile towards her. And now she imagined trying to do that for literal centuries. Sunset and Sonata nuzzled each other for a bit longer, Sonata loving just how warm Sunset felt, she really did live up to her name. “I’m glad I have you despite our, you know, rocky start.” She gave an awkward laugh which Sunset joined in. “Honestly, most of my closest friendships started with one of us trying to kill the other so you know, it’s not that unusual.” Sunset chuckled with Sonata snorting in kind. “But....” Sunset continued. “You’re extra special since you’re not just my friend but my....” “GIRLFIREND!!! They both shouted in unison as they affectionately nuzzled each other’s faces, which was such an adorable sight that even the rest of the Taco Bell customers let it slide. Sonata then eyed her final taco, and had an idea, giving Sunset a mischievous smile. She started to gently munch on it, being much less sloppy than her last two tacos. As she got to the center, she paused. “Oh nooooooo, I think I’m starting to get too full, if only a big brave strong girl would possibly help me ouuuuut!” She hammed it up in a way that make Rarity proud, looking to her girlfriend as she played the helpless damsel to the hilt. Sunset immediately knew what she was trying to do and was happy to indulge. “Oh no, I can’t have my girlfriend succumb to her taco troubles, I will save you my love!” She exclaimed in a deep, exaggeratedly cheesy voice. She then bit the other end of the taco, with Sonata biting her end as they quickly ate it together until there was no taco left to block their lips from hitting each other. They both stared, Sunset’s sea green eyes looking into Sonata’s magenta orbs. They spent a moment just gazing into each other. And then they proceeded to sloppily make out in the Taco Bell booth. It was a more romantic location than any five star restaurant ever could be, and they were both grateful to have someone who understood that.
