PROLOGUE

A cool breeze rustles the grass in a field beyond the outskirts of Ponyville. Aside from the sound of a nearby lake and the chirps of early birds, it is a quiet morning.

Before long, a small white rabbit hops up on a small hill and then brushes its little ears. It’s on the move, as if fleeing from something; as it huffs for a quick breath, it’s suddenly caught off-guard by a loud strike of energy.

The rabbit shuffles back, watching as two additional arcs of energy flicker into existence infront of them - clearly coloured red - before immediately dissipating, a curious and strange sight to see. Still, not out of the ordinary considering how much magic flies around Equestria.

Another arc occurs - this time catching a miniscule patch of the ground on fire. The flames are small and don’t last long, proceeding to die out incredibly quickly, leaving nothing in its wake but a tiny burnt section of grass.

It’s not too long after that the sounds of trotting hooves approach.

“Angel, where’d you go?” quietly calls Fluttershy, as she turns her head back and forth, glancing around desperately, looking for the rabbit. Spotting them on the small hill, she races up for him.

The rabbit glances up at the yellow and pink pony, who grabs one of her legs and points at the burned area. Fluttershy glances up at it, another energy arc manifests as if on cue, causing a yelp to leave her mouth instinctively.

She looks down at Angel, who shrugs and makes an expression of confusion, neither of them really know what they’re seeing here.

“Oh… t-that? I-I, don’t think it’s anything… Maybe somepony is just nearby, practicing their magic.”

Angel tilts his head, glancing around quickly - nope. Nopony is around.

“…Come on, let’s get back home… You’ve run quite far…”

The rabbit and pegasus turn to leave, walking away from the site. While her main focus had been to find where Angel had run off to, the sight of the strange energy arcs stuck in Fluttershy’s mind - just who, or what, was doing them?

No matter- she’s got Angel back now, so she pushes all thoughts of the energy to the back of her mind.

As the two make their distance, the unseen energy arcs continue,becoming more and more formed. The shape of a red sphere of energy begins to manifest on top of the hill, slowly growing in size as arcs hit the grass - more and more burnt patches forming.

It’s not long before the sphere intersects the ground, and promptly, a pony suddenly jumps out of the sphere, landing in front of the sphere of energy as it disintegrates. Red-coated, with a blue mane,a pair of green headphones and with closed eyes, this new pegasus carries a sword in his mouth, which he drops to the newly formed patch of dirt under him.

He’s noticeably dizzy and stumbling a little bit as he gets his bearings, falling onto his back and letting out a groan. Through a dazed perspective of his surroundings, he slowly opens his eyes and sits up, rubbing his face with a front leg - some red energy arcs fly from his mane as he does.

“Finally! Our teleporter worked. Hah. Oh wow! We’re awesome..!”

Glancing around, seeing the mountain ranges and nature beyond, his gaze becomes fixated on the distant Ponyville, and not long after - a yellow and pink pony and her little rabbit. His face morphs into a grin, reaching his head back down to pick up his sword - “…and it looks like I’m getting lucky!”

I'm counting this in the '10 Chapters' count, for the record. It is a very short prologue just to get the ball rolling. Chapter 1 is where it really gets meaty :D
