“Oh my beloved subjects it’s been so long since I’ve seen your sun-loving faces.” Nightmare Moon said, overlooking the crowd of terrified ponies staring at her instead of her sister.

“What did you do with the princess!?” A cyan colored pegasus mare said loudly before flapping their wings and launching off to attack her, thankfully a orange colored earth pony grabbed the Pegasus’s few strands of rainbow tail with their teeth before holding them from charging in.

”Am I not royal enough for you? Don’t you know who I am? Does my crown no longer count now that I have been imprisoned for a thousand years.. Did you not recall the legend? Did you not see the signs?” Nightmare Moon asked the crowd as she looked at them, her inner thoughts plaguing her of being forgotten by time, when suddenly a purple unicorn shouted out her response. “I do! You are the mare in the moon..- Nightmare Moon!”

The crowd of ponies gasp in disbelief and horror at hearing the identity of the alicorn being revealed and adding to their fear. ”Well well well.. Some pony does remember me, then you do know why I’m here..-“ The unicorn stammered before Nightmare Moon continued, “Remember this day little ponies for it was your last as this moment forth the night will last forever!!” Nightmare moon cackled evilly as lightning struck around her.

—A Hour Later, The Ruins of the Ancient Royal Pony Sisters—

Nightmare Moon looked on in horror as the stones of the Elements of Harmony turned into necklaces around five mares behind the purple unicorn while creating a tiara on her head as the group rose in the air from the artifacts. Soon the room shook from the power before a magical rainbow beam flew into the air before arching down towards Nightmare Moon. ”Nooooo-!” Nightmare Moon screamed as the vortex wrapped around her body before burning the flesh and soul from it’s host before exploding in a bright light. Luna felt her head throb as the voice in her head was gone and with wide eyes, shot up her head as she saw her old armor in disheveled pieces around her. Fear began to creep into Luna’s mind as being alone again on the moon and left completely empty as the shell of who she was, is completely lost.

Luna paranoia was cut off as a large white alicorn stood above her, looking up to see her older sister staring at her as blood drooled out her eyes. The words coming out of her mouth caused Luna to back away from her. ”You worthless Worm! You don’t deserve to be wearing my sister flesh.. Take… it..OFF!!!”Luna backed away from her even more as suddenly she was grasped by the horrifying demon.

”Luna! Are you ok!? Please calm down.. you’re safe now..” Celestia said, keeping a firm grip hold on her younger sister as the rest of the ponies stare in confusion. ”C… Celestia… Is… is that you…?” Celestia hugged her sister tightly as she was finally reunited with family.

—Several minutes later, Ponyville Square—

Luna looked at the townsponies, Straightening up her pose as every pony could see her and felt as if they could see every imperfection and would scream out her as a fake at any second. The small bundle of flowers on her neck didn’t help her mood at all as Celestia spoke with her prized student, all the while a voice in her head whispered fears and paranoia to send her into a spiral. ”Who are you..? Your not even worth being Celestia’s sister wearing that skin like a suit.. your nothing but a fake…” Loona let a few tears fall as the voice was right and it made her wonder why she was left to be in this strangers body. Celestia saw Luna and smiled softly, thinking it was feeling loved by the ponies of Ponyville before taking her leave and taking her and Luna home back in Canterlot. The only pony to notice something wrong with Celestia’s sister was the town’s clutz, Derpy Hooves.

—Fifteen Minutes after leaving Ponyville, Canterlot Courtyard—

After landing in the courtyard Celestia led Luna around the castle, showing their new home. ”Its so great to have you back Lulu, it’s been far too long…” Celestia said as she turned to see Luna, only to see her staring out a window near the entrance of the castle. Celestia frowned slightly at seeing her little sister ignoring her before walking up to her. ”Luna come on… I know it’s been a thousand years since our fight but that’s in the past… please.. don’t hide behind your emotions again…” Celestia pleaded softly before Luna looked at her, her eyes filled with regret and sorrow. ”Am I really home..?” Luna said, the complete isolation and lack of any kind of entertainment had broken her mentally. Even when Discord was causing so much chaos it wasn’t even remotely close to being very dangerous, after turning him to stone he was placed in the vault for a few years to keep from being accidentally released or even killed by some pony with a grudge. Even after all that, Celestia and I would talk to him from time to time and hope to him change, he at least had someone to talk too.

Celestia hugged her sister tightly, holding her tightly and began to speak however it went unnoticed as Luna began to smile and hug her big sister back. They stayed like that for a few minutes before separating and continuing the tour.

—Twenty minutes later, Luna’s room—

After the tour and getting into her new room, Luna waited for a few minutes before walking up to the vanity table near her bed before getting a good look at her face. He eyes were a dark sapphire while she had dark bags under her them, her mane wasn’t flowing like her older sister and her body was a deep sea blue. Luna hated the thing in the mirror and despised it intensely before raising a hoof and smashing it into the vanity mirror, leaving the image to be distorted and cracked. Luna grabbed a piece of the glass, that was big enough to do the job, in her light blue magic before walking to the farthest and darkest corner of the room before sitting there. With a deep breath, Luna began to cut into her forelegs with the glass shard and watch as her alicorn body heal the injury quickly before doing it again and again and again. Luna would not sleep at all that day nor will she find comfort in the silence and loneliness she felt in her heart and soul.
