//-------------------------------------------------------// An Ancient Reunion -by Holocron- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Princess' Morning //-------------------------------------------------------// The Princess' Morning Equestria has gone through a lot over the years. There were unexpected times when the Elements of Harmony had to intervene. Without these elements, Equestria would not be able to survive and prosper. The rulers of this mostly equine society are the royal sisters, who ruled this land for over a thousand years. And while there were troubles, the land and its citizens survived and thrived in their unity and harmony. One of these royal sisters was an alabaster alicorn princess named Celestia. As she did every morning, she rose from her bed with a great yawn and headed for the bathroom where she did her normal morning routine. Running the hot water over her form, she cooed as she couldn’t stop herself and was slowly rubbing along her lucious, alluring body. This wasn’t just the feeling of a body that was blessed by some growth and time. But Celestia’s body was the envy of every mare in Equestria. Her height was superior to even the tallest stallion, standing over a head taller, and was used to having to look down on her subjects. Her neck was smooth and slender then ran down and led any eyes who gazed upon the rest of her body. Moving her hooves down to rub and clean herself, she reached her belly. It was thin and smooth, despite rumors of her gluttonous behavior when it came to cakes and treats. This only made her feel more pride in herself as she washed along herself. Cooing a little, the mare could feel the previous night’s aches and pains melt away with the water. And finally, her flank, an ass that made anyone with even half a libido to turn and stare; even for a moment. Stallions and mares alike couldn’t resist gazing at the Princess’ royal ass at least once. The stallions would often fantasize about what it would feel like, while some mares would switch between desire and envy. It was in the perfect shape. Big enough to wiggle and bounce between the casual steps she took, but small enough not to make any clapping sounds as she walked. “So good.” Celestia cooed, rubbing her body conditioner all along her alluring, beautiful form. It was a pleasure she had loved since her foalhood. “Nothing like a hot shower to melt all your worries away.” She was in such a good mood, the mare couldn’t help but hum a small tune as she did so. Finishing up the shower, she exited, walking back into her room naked; the remnant waters dripping off her curves. While she would’ve preferred to relax and let her body dry slowly in the glow of the sun’s light, plans for the day forced her to speed up the process with magic. Igniting her horn, the Princess’ body glowed and then dimmed, her body having been thoroughly dried. Once dried, Celestia looked herself over. It was always a lovely sight to see herself in the mirror. Doing a small twirl, she gazed at not only her voluptuous figure, but the grace of her large wings, how the feathers fluttered a little with each small flap. How her horn gave off a gleaming shine as if it was always well cared for and polished. And how her body looked to be at the peak of beauty and allure no matter what. “Now, I think I’ll make some breakfast.” Celestia nodded to herself, smiling as she looked herself over in the mirror. Before she raised a hoof to call her servants to action, she paused. With a playful giggle, she winked at herself. “You know, maybe I’ll do the shopping myself this time.” Walking over to the door, she had just barely opened it when a pair of royal guards stood at the rear. One was a unicorn mare, the other was a pegasus stallion. Their armor was freshly polished and ready to serve their Princess. Celestia smiled at the guards, but continued to walk; and the guards followed. The alicorn couldn’t help but hum a little, a little pep in her step as she trotted her merry way to the kitchens. Upon arrival, she saw the kitchen staff were hard at work. A number of pegasi, unicorns, and earth ponies. And while she tried to be sneaky, it didn’t take long for one of the staff to see her. This only caused a small chain reaction as the rest of the staff all but fell over each other as they stopped to see that the Princess had personally come to the kitchen. Thankfully, nopony was hurt as they all but crashed together. “P-P-Princess?! What are you…” One of the cooks asked, looking around to the others. But then, clearing their throat, they continued. “I understand we’re behind in your breakfast. But don’t worry, we’ll be finished very soon.” “Oh, there’s nothing to worry about.” Celestia said with a smile, levitating a cloth saddle bag over to her. “I was actually feeling like going out and doing some shopping for breakfast today.” The kitchen staff, along with the two guards beside her, gasped at her words, but she maintained her warm smile. “P-Princess…” One of the guards commented, leaning in close to the alicorn. “Are you sure about this? We can simply pick up any food you desire for you.” “No, no, I feel this is for the best.” Celestia replied, looking at the guards with a smile. “Besides, what manner of Princess would I be if I didn’t at least go out and see my subjects?” It was clear she wasn’t going to be persuaded out of this. It was a beautiful day outside with no clouds in the sky, perfect weather for a brisk morning trot. The pegasi that flew through the air ensured this superior display in the sky. Celestia couldn’t help but smile at the glowing radiance of this day. Even with her two guards at her sides, she walked along the streets with an air of warmth, kindness, and confidence. But this didn’t stop many of the citizens of the city stopping to stare, or giving a respectful bow to their monarch. “This is how a Princess should rule.” Celestia muttered quietly to herself. “Not from some cold throne with harsh eyes, but down here, on the street with her subjects.” After a period of time walking, she eventually found what she was looking for; a fruit vender. The stallion at the stall was a strong looking unicorn, clearly some earth pony must be in his blood with how strong his muscles were. But the grace and care he used when he used magic to move and adjust the fruits in which he sold. It showed how serious he took his job, and that he was the one she would buy products from. “Hello, and welcome to-” The stallion greeted, only to have his words trail off as soon as he saw who had come to him. “P-P-P-Princess Celestia?! W-w-what…” He cleared his throat, composing himself. “How can I help you today?” “I was looking to make a special breakfast, and want to have some fresh fruits.” Celestia greeted the vendor. “What would you recommend?” The vendor hesitated. The Princess, one of the four Royal mares, was asking him what he would suggest for her breakfast. His eyes quickly darted among his inventory. If he could provide the best possible service, not only would this satisfy the Princess, but the prestige of having done so would bring more and more business to him. Quickly, he gathered a number of different fruits, levitating them over towards the alicorn. “Here we are, apples from the orchards of Ponyville. Mangos and Oranges grown in the gardens of Manehattan. Cherries and Grapes from vineyards all the way from Appleloosa.” The vendor commented, showing off his wares to the Princess. Celestia only looked on. “Oh, and these are something you would find fascinating.” Putting the other fruits to the side, he presented a pineapple. “A special, tropical pineapple from the southern sea islands close to Mount Aris.” “My, my, that is a very expansive collection of wares you have.” Celestia smiled, which only caused the stallion to blush a little. “I’ll take them all.” “Yes, yes, of course…of course. That’ll just be…” The merchant paused, realizing he was about to charge money to the Princess. But she didn’t seem to speak up, so perhaps this was okay. “T-t-thirty bits.” “Sounds good.” Celestia nodded, opening her bag and levitated thirty coins to the counter. The vendor, a little wide eyed about it, quickly wrapped up what she wanted and handed them off to her. “Thank you very much. And have a lovely day.” With that, she placed the fruits in her basket and continued walking on. Now that she had the fruits, the next thing Celestia needed was grains. Continuing to walk along the streets, she eventually found who she was looking for. It was a pegasus mare, currently getting large sacks of various grains on display. Some were open, showing off the various seeds available. While others were bundled up in stalks. This vendor was further away from her surroundings, noticing Celestia before she arrived. “Princess Celestia?! So good to see a mare of your royal status out and about.” The mare greeted, bowing her head respectfully as she gestured with her hooves. “How can I help you? Are you interested in any of my grains today?” “I am. I’m in need of some cereal grain, as well as flour.” Celestia replied, maintaining her kind smile. “So how much can I get for twenty bits?” “Oh, let me gather what I can.” The mare responded, quickly grabbing a number of different grains and flours. After a few short moments, everything was presented. “Here you are, this is twenty bits worth.” Celestia rummaged through her purse and pulled out the bits. Levitating the food over to her, she placed it in her basket. Smiling with a nod, she turned to leave. The mare smiled back, still shocked that the Princess herself would come to her stall. It was certainly an experience no vendor today was going to consider. But this was only the second stop on the alicorn’s list. The guards at her sides followed behind, not letting her out of their sights as she continued her shopping. After her shopping, Celestia returned to the castle. Heading straight to the royal kitchens, she layed out all that she had purchased. Not only the fruits from the first stand, or the grains from the second stand, but other fruits such as bananas, kiwis, berries of many colors, as well as eggs and milk. It was enough food to feed half a dozen full grown ponies, and the alicorn seemed eager to get to cooking. Immediately, some of the cooks sheepishly approached her, but she playfulled waved her hoof at them. “Oh, that won’t be necessary.” Celestia commented, looking at the kitchen staff. “You all do so much, and I’ve bought many ingredients. So I’m thinking of whipping up something special.” The staff were speechless, but they didn’t disobey. Though they did help by gathering all the kitchen equipment the Princess would need for cooking. With the ingredients she got from the markets, Celestia began to prepare the batter for some pancakes. She levitated out a mixing bowl and set it on the counter. For the batter, she stirred the eggs, milk, and flour into the bowl. The magic that held the various tools and mixers caused the utensils to dance about, almost in a rhythmic pattern. All the while, Celestia hummed a sweet melody to herself. The kitchen staff had left the room by this point, not wanting to get in her way; but her two personal guards were given a full look at this performance. With the batter all set, Celestia moved onto the next step. Levitating a massive skillet over to the stove, she smiled at what she was planning. Heating up the skillet, she added some butter to it, savoring the sweet sounds of the sizzling before pouring the batter in. Taking a moment, she brought a pair of smooth edged spatulas and kept a close eye on these cooking pancakes. The faint wisps of cooking steam wafted upwards, making the Princess smile as she was getting ready for the next step. “Almost…just about…there!” Celestia commented, quickly using her magic to flick at the pancakes, flipping them and causing them to perfectly land back on the skillet. “There we go. Keep the flame steady, and keep them nice and fluffy.” Repeatedly cooking and flipping the pancakes, the alicorn eventually finished them, arranging them all on a massive smooth countertop. Quickly, her magic gripped at the various fruits she had purchased, bringing them over to her. She decorated the stacks with whipped cream and some fruit. Content with the results, she seperate two of them, while leaving the rest in the kitchen. “I’ll be dining with my sister.” Celestia said to the two guards, who were already starting to follow her. “By all means, please tell the kitchen staff to enjoy their pancakes. Oh! And be sure to enjoy yours.” The guards stared at her, shocked that she would even make food for them, but the look of the delicious breakfast was very enticing. “Princess’ orders.” Arriving in the dining room, Celestia had just barely sat down at the table, getting the plates of fruit and whipped cream pancakes over when she noticed Princess Luna walking in. It was the end of her nightly duties, and while this was breakfast for Celesita, her sister was coming to enjoy her dinner. Letting out a small yawn, the lunar alicorn was flanked by her two personal guards, a pair of bat ponies who wore silver armor that contracted against the golden armor of the day guards. "Good Morning, Celestia." Luna greeted as she appeared in the kitchen. “Looks like you did some shopping.” “Morning, Luna. Just some nice food for breakfast, the merchant was very friendly." Celestia greeted as she placed the artisan pancakes on the wooden table. “So how was your dream walk, and how was your sleep?” “Nothing much from my dream walk and I slept well.” Luna replied, as she took a slice of the pancakes. “What about you, sister?” Taking a bite, she let out a small sound. “Oh wow! They taste really good!” “Thank you, and I slept fine. I did my duty of raising the sun, and I was at the market getting the essentials. The ponies I passed by were preparing for Hearts and Hooves Day.” Celestia said, as she did the same. “I saw some romantic partners spending time together at cafés. I wish we could still have our own lovers to go to.” "Today is Hearts and Hooves Day?” Luna asked as she was eating her breakfast. “What does this holiday have to do with either of us?" "Well, we're immortal, and we've seen Equestria grow throughout our lives. Isn't there something missing in both of us?" Celestia leaned back a bit and tapped the table a bit before resettling herself. "Twilight did write me asking the question that could change things." "Really?" Luna replied, swallowing down some food before wiping her mouth with a napkin. “What did she ask you? Celestia brought out the letter that Twilight had written to her. While she was using her magic, she moved the scroll to Luna, who opened it with curiosity. Certainly, Celestia did not say such things so frivolously. Luna was reading the letter of her sister's former pupil, who now held the title of Princess of Friendship. But this didn’t mean that she wasn't writing letters to her former mentor with all manner of questions. And while Celestia was happy to help, this particular situation was a little more unique. Humming a little to herself, she read the letter aloud. Dear Princess Celestia, I am sorry to bother you, but do you think there are any alicorn stallions in and around Equestria? Nopony talks about them and there are hardly any documents mentioning any of them. I'm curious about them and their abilities. I know that there are only alicorn mares like myself and Cadence. Could we talk about this matter? Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle “Wait…what?!” Luna said, shaking her head in disbelief. “She actually asked you that?” The mare could barely contain the obvious look of shock. “Oh my, she actually did.” “Yes, she wrote that to me." Celestia commented, as she paused from her thoughts. Eventually her characteristic smile returned, if only briefly. "Should I tell Twilight the truth?” Luna’s face looked almost in shock at the question. “I know it’s been a long, long time since…since then. But she is an alicorn as well, and should know the truth.” "Well, sister, since there’s nothing we could do, we have to." Luna said as she finished breakfast. “There would be more questions from her if we don't do that. So you should prepare for this conversation you plan on having with her.” She chuckled a little to herself. “You know how inquisitive Twilight can get when she learns something new. Remember when we showed her the restrictive section of the Library?” "How could I forget, she was practically skipping from shelf to shelf, reading nearly a dozen books at once. But okay, I'm going to write her back. " Celestia said as she took out a sheet of paper and another quill to compose a new letter. “Let’s see…how to properly word this?” Taking a deep breath, she composed the letter. Dear Twilight, Thank you for your letter. That's something we should talk about sometime. Would you come to the palace tomorrow if you are available? This talk should only be between you, my sister, and myself. We will talk more about this after you arrive. Your mentor, Princess Celestia “This should be enough.” Celestia commented, sighing a little. Using her magic, she rolled up the letter, tied it with her seal, and sent it to Twilight.. "I hope I am making the right decision…" //-------------------------------------------------------// Twilight Sparkle learns the Truth //-------------------------------------------------------// Twilight Sparkle learns the Truth The sun burned brightly over the sky of Ponyville, which shone even more brilliantly against the Castle of Friendship; a crystalline palace that rested where once a great tree had stood. Doing her morning papers, Princess Twilight sat in her study. Numerous books and papers floated about her, almost flapping like birds as they moved about her head. At least half a dozen quills were busy writing about the numerous papers, all in a day’s work for a Princess. To anyone else, it would be too much, but Twilight loved every moment of it. She felt like this was her way to better serve Equestria. Battle monsters, defeating evil forces, or even solving friendship problems were plenty of ways to help out, but at the end of the day, it was the bureaucracy, the paperwork that truly made Equestria function. Twilight couldn’t get enough of it, even developing new spells that allowed her to split her focus nearly half a dozen times at once. Since taking her station, Twilight had fully delved into her duties and responsibilities; doubly or even triply so since founding her school. Treaties, contracts, pacts, and deals that were forged, written, and signed by numerous kingdoms were to be properly categorized, reviewed, and routinely updated. Now that the first couple years of the school have been more of a success than she had ever believed, so now she had to expand on it. Hire new professors, open the door to more students from foreign kingdoms, and most importantly, secure the funding for the school. “Let’s see…this works…this works…this works…this needs reviewing…I can’t approve this yet…this is too expensive…” Twilight pondered aloud, looking faster and faster through the papers. “Okay, so there’s a holiday coming in Griffonstone, I’ll need to send the griffon students home soon…not to mention the yaks want to send more students, but I don’t think I have more durable chairs for them yet…” As she was reaching the end of her papers, the magical crackling of a teleportation caused her ears to perk up. Looking up, a magically sent scroll floated in front of her. Seeing the emblem of Celestia, Twilight’s eyes lit up as she brushed aside her work to take the scroll. Opening it, she poured over the message, her eyes darted from side to side as she rapidly read it. “Oh my!” Twilight gasped as she finished the letter. “I need to get ready…like now!” Quickly, she rushed around the room, darting back and forth to try and get everything prepared for this meeting to come. “I need this…this…this…oh! Maybe this!” Rushing around, various items were magically flying through the air. A saddlebag, some scrolls, ink, pens, everything Twilight would normally bring to her meetings with Celestia. It didn’t take long for the Princess to take all this chaos and organize it into a proper storage before getting ready. But now for the next thing, how should she get there? Normally, the train would work, but this must be very important, so teleporting? “Then again, the letter said tomorrow.” Twilight pondered aloud, rubbing her chin as she was trying to figure out what she could do next. “Hmmm, okay, maybe I’m going a little overboard. But maybe not! Maybe this is so important, she said tomorrow to be polite and she needs me now!” “I think it’s fine.” Voiced the sound of Spike, who had been relaxing in one of the chairs, merrily eating some choice gems. “I mean, come on. If it was so important, she’d say something like ‘come now’ or something.” Munching on another gem, he continued. “If it says tomorrow, then go tomorrow.” “I…okay, okay, you’re right.” Twilight sighed, putting down her saddle bag. “But it doesn’t say what time tomorrow. So if I take the train, I can be there by tomorrow if I take the last train.” Spike facepalmed, rubbing his temples for a moment before eating another gem. “Look, Twilight, don’t worry about it.” Spike reassured his friend and surrogate sister. “You have mountains of papers to go through, today. And I’m sure if Princess Celestia said tomorrow, then she means tomorrow.” “You’re…you’re right, I know you’re right.” Twilight sighed, her wings going down in some sadness. “Alright, alright. Let’s just…finish the paperwork.” Sitting back at the table, she picked up doing her paperwork. “Well, this’ll just motivate me to get through these faster!” Spike only sighed, playfully rolling his eyes as he continued munching on his gems. The next day, Twilight wasted no time. Raising her horn, she teleported herself to Canterlot. More accurately, right outside the castle, the grounds didn’t allow magical movement in and out of the palace itself. As soon as she arrived, Twilight moved quickly into the castle, and through the halls. The letter didn’t mention an exact meeting place, but there were no doubts that the Princesses were in the throne room. Walking into the throne room, the princesses sat in their thrones as if waiting there all night for her. Celestia seemed a little tired, even yawning a little, though Luna maintained her composure. As well as this, there were almost no other ponies there, as if the guards and servants were asked to give the three of them some privacy for this conversation. All in all, it looked very suspicious, but Twilight said nothing. She waited for the Princesses to speak first. “Thank you for coming, Twilight.” Celestia greeted her student with a warm smile. Twilight smiled and nodded, greeting her back as she spoke. "You know why I want to tell you the news face-to-face, right?" There was an air of seriousness in her voice. "No, Why?” Twilight asked, looking a little worried. “Did something weird happen to Equestria, or was it something personal?" The mare’s voice sounded a little more worried; almost like a panic. Typical of her, she tended to quickly overthink about things whenever Celestia called her over. “Whatever it is, I’m ready for it.” "There's no danger, so calm yourself my student, but It might be both.” Celestia explained, taking a deep breath. “You see in the Tale of the Two Sisters, there is something missing in that tale.” Twilight’s eyes went wide, curious as to what the Princess was going to say. “When I was writing that tale, it was describing only me and my sister.” There was a growing sorrow in her voice, but she continued to explain. “To be honest there is more to this story than you might think." “What do you mean, Princess Celestia?” Twilight asked, her curiosity bubbling. “I’m sorry, but I…I don’t understand.” She had known Princess Celestia for many years now, and had never seen her so sad. “Please, take your time.” “Well, you see, there are additional alicorns to this story.” Celestia said as Twilight looked at Luna. “This version of the story was only kept between me and my sister until now.” “What about you, Princess Luna?” Twilight asked, unable to look away from Luna. “Did you know about this even when you turned evil and banished to the moon?” “Yes, I still remember it well, even though I was in that state." Princess Luna replied, crossing her arms a little; shivering slightly. It was often painful, and embarrassing, to think of what she was like when she was corrupted and evil. “Even now, I can still remember it.” “You see back in the ancient alicorn kingdom of Skyros, there were also two alicorn brothers, the oldest, Messis, and the youngest, Solstitio.” Celestia explained, pausing for a moment as she was detailing the past. “Unlike us, the royal sisters and our mastery of the sun and moon, these two brothers held mastery over the changing of the seasons.” Her voice sank a little, as the painful memory flooded more and more into her mind. “There was a time when the two brothers struggled to control the strange weather patterns and the nature associated with the seasons they represent.” “If…I’m sorry, this is just a lot to take in.” Twilight commented, shaking her head a little. “I…I just never knew. There’s no history of any of this.” Her mind raced faster and faster, trying to figure out some way to accept all of this. This wasn’t some misprint in a textbook, this was lost and forgotten history. “Why wasn’t this written down?” “This was intentional.” Luna explained, sighing a little. “It was a different time, and both of us decided to keep it more or less hidden away.” Gesturing to Celestia, she nodded. “Please, sister, continue.” It was clear that she wasn’t exactly keen on sharing this information, but it was too late now. “They tried to rein in the chaos, but It was too late, and one by one the brothers were trapped in prisons that were associated with their roles.” Celestia continued, her voice becoming more and more sorrowful as she spoke. “Messis was trapped in a prison of hardened tree sap, representing the spring and summer, and Solstitio in a prison of ice, representing the autumn and winter.” “So, Celestia, why did you have to wait until now to tell me all this?” Twilight asked after she gasped in shock. “Did something make you want to share this story with me?” For a moment, she tried to figure out what the Princess was trying to tell her. “Wait…are we in danger? Is something going to happen?” “Oh, no, no, no, nothing like that.” Luna commented, waving her hoof back and forth. “But please, let my sister continue.” While she often admired Twilight’s determination to get to the point, now was not the time. “Well, the feeling of loneliness during Hearts and Hooves Day made me want to express my emotions here today.” Celestia replied, sighing heavily. “It’s been a while since we last saw them and we are not sure when they will come back to us." “Were you two connected to them somehow?” Twilight asked. “Like…was it a friendly relationship?” The look on Celestia’s face made her raise a curious eyebrow. “Or was it something more? Oh! I’m sorry, I shouldn’t pry into that, I’m sorry.” “Well, we were friends with them. Their parents would visit ours and bring them along so we would have company.” Luna explained with a fond expression, almost blushing a little. “We would often play tag, hide and seek, or just shoot the breeze and entertain ourselves with our abilities. We were the best of friends and nothing further than that.” A small sigh escaped her lips as she reminisced. “We developed feelings for them, but didn't want to jeopardize our friendship by telling them.” “So do you still know where they were trapped?" Twilight asked. “Maybe there’s a way we can free them?” A look of excitement and curiosity grew across her face. “Maybe we can save them from their centuries of imprisonment?” “Well, we know where they are currently trapped, but the substances they are in are unnatural; not even the sun's warmth can do.” Celestia replied, her eyes fluttering a little bit as she spoke. “The substances were strengthened by an unknown type of magic." She let out a small and saddened sigh. “Alas, we have spent decades and decades working to undo the magic that binds them. Sadly, all have failed.” “But there has to be something we could do to free them?” Twilight commented, some hope shone in her voice. “I mean, you two wouldn’t be telling me about these two without there being some hope…right?” Her voice was rippling with hopefulness, she was certain there was some solution to this situation. “So one of the ways we could do this is to go to the Everfree Forest, around the Castle of the Two Sisters.” Luna commented, rubbing her chin. Looking over to Celestia, she could tell she was thinking of a solution as well. “When you get there, find out the magic that strengthens these solids and research how to counter it." “Are you perhaps thinking of the Tree of Harmony?” Celestia asked, to which Luna nodded. “It is true, the Tree holds a magic we do not fully understand, but we cannot rely on mere speculation and hope.” “Well, last time I checked, the Elements of Harmony have managed to defeat the most vile and wicked foes in Equestria on just speculation and hope.” Luna replied, glancing back to Twilight with a smile. “Besides, if anyone can rescue our ancient allies, it would be here.” “Be that as it may, I still feel this may be too challenging for Twilight.” Celestia explained, looking at her former student with nervous eyes. “I know I have asked many of you in the past, but this is…this is a lot to ask.” “I know, and I understand Princess.” Twilight replied, bowing her head respectfully. “But I’ve learned through my years and studies, that nothing is impossible through the magic and power of Friendship.” She was practically beaming with confidence, making the royal sisters smile calmly. “If you truly think this is something you can accomplish.” Celestia replied, looking at the mare with some growing hope. “I will put my faith in you.” “As will I.” Luna added, rubbing her chin for a moment. “Twilight, if you could give my sister and I a moment alone. We have some things to discuss.” “Of course, I don’t mind.” Twilight replied with a smile. “I’ll be in the library, studying what esoteric magic is. Even if it’s a little, surely anything can be of use for this.” Bowing her head, Twilight left the room, letting the Princesses sit in silence for several minutes. It was a little awkward, but perhaps there was some hope to be had in this. But still, the two mares only sat there, their minds filled with different memories of the alicorns. They thought of Messis and Solstitio, how the two would play together, and what it was like to be with them. It was a friendship that may have become more, but the cruelty of fate stole these stallions from them. “Tell me, Luna.” Celestia asked, her sighing breath and voice breaking the minutes of silence. “Are you truly certain that Twilight can recover them? You think she is able to free Messis and Solstitio?” “I want to believe, yes.” Luna replied, her voice was spoken with a blunt, directness. “I want to believe that she can do this. You have prepared her for many occasions, and she has defeated more than her fair share of foes.” “But this is something she has never done before!” Celestia snapped, only to compose herself sheepishly. “Vanquishing foes, cleansing evil, battling monsters, or even solving the occasional friendship problem are one thing. But this…this is different.” “I fail to see much of the difference.” Luna commented, looking over to the numerous stained glass windows that lined the walls of the throne room. “Your student had done more in her life than many of the heroes in myth and legend. If anyone can free them, she can.” “I…I understand.” Celestia sighed, accepting her sister’s resolve. “I will put my trust and faith in Twilight. She has never failed me, and I know she can accomplish anything she sets her mind to.” “Very good.” Luna nodded, feeling more content with her sister’s response. “For the time being, we should give Twilight everything she needs.” Getting up from her throne, she started to walk towards the door. “I shall take her to the library’s Restrictive Section. The ancient scrolls, tomes, and maps will be of far better use in her capable hooves.” “Alright, and I shall return to my duties.” Celestia nodded, remaining in her seat as she watched Luna leave the room. Before her sister closed the door, she called out. “Good luck, sister.” As she watched the door close, Celestia couldn’t help but feel a heaviness inside her. Her mind was still teeming with thoughts of the alicorn brothers. She missed their smiling faces, she missed the fun the four of them would have. It sent a small shiver down her spine as she longed to see her friends again. It had been so long and she needed to see them again. Not only to welcome back their ancient friends, but also the roles they filled. Since their departure, the pegasi had to manage control over the weather and the seasonal changes. In fact, it was Cloudsdale’s sole purpose when it was first formed; though this historic truth has been lost to time and misinformation. Celestia wanted to see them, but she missed Messis and Solstitio. She knew that Luna felt the same, and part of her was envious at how well her sister could hold in her feelings. Leaning back in her throne, she sighed sadly. But she still had the rest of the day’s duties ahead of her. Whatever journey this would take her former student on, whatever grand adventure Twilight and her friends would be on, Celestia had faith the young alicorn and her friends would be able to do this. And as the hope continued to fill her, she thought of where they were sealed away. Messis’ prison of hardened tree sap, residing deep in an ancient jungle to the far south. Solstitio’s prison of ice, located to the far icy tundras in the north. “This will be a challenge, and one I can only hope you can accomplish.” Celestia muttered to herself aloud. “Twilight, if you can pull this off, if you can free Messis and Solstitio…” The mare couldn’t help but hum a little as she let her mind drift into the fantasy of such an event to happen. “My friends…I hope I can see you both again.” Giving out one more sigh, Celestia rose from her throne. Luna was right, they should place their faith in Twilight. The Princess of Friendship had certainly done the impossible several times over, and so it would be foolish to underestimate her commitment and resolve. As well as this, sitting on her throne in worry wasn’t going to get anything done. Feeling a new sense of eagerness and peace, Celestia refocused herself on her daily duties. There was still plenty to do today. //-------------------------------------------------------// Solstitio and Messis //-------------------------------------------------------// Solstitio and Messis “Sister!” Luna shouted, bursting into Celestia’s private study as her sister was busy doing her royal papers. “They’ve done it!” “Wait, what? Who’s done it?” Celestia asked, but Luna’s expression was more than enough to tell her the truth. “Twilight…succeeded?!” Luna nodded, nearly straining her neck and jaw from her smiling. Tears started to form in the corner of her eyes. “I never…believed…we needed to see her. Where is she?” “She’s on her way, I had only received word from the guards that she had been seen in the city.” Luna replied, wiping some tears from her eyes. “She has both of them, Messis and Solstitio. They’re here!” “We need to prepare.” Celestia said, getting up so fast, the chair she sat on stumbled over. “Get the servants to work, prepare the guards, I want the kitchens bustling to prepare a banquet for our friends’ return!” Luna rushed off to give the orders to the rest of the castle staff, leaving her sister alone. Celestia pulled back up her chair, sitting and hunching over the desk. Holding her head in her hooves, she couldn’t help but mutter incoherently to herself. Her eyes darted back and forth as she was struggling to hold in all her emotions. But it was true, it had to be. Luna wouldn’t have told her if it wasn’t true. Still, she was nervous, her body was shaking as she wasn’t sure what she would do. It has been so long, what could she do? After a little under an hour, Celestia and Luna were now sitting on their thrones. Their gowns were even more regal than usual, and the guards were in full attention; even their armor and weapons had been freshly polished. It might seem a little overboard, but the sisters wanted to make the best possible impression for Messis and Solstitio. Patiently waiting, they were nearly at the edge of their seats as they awaited their return. Their hearts nearly flew from their chests as one of the guards walked from the door. "Your majesties, there are two ponies…alicorns who request an audience.” The guard reported. “They claim to know you both.” “Thank you, and please, let them in.” Celestia nodded, looking over to Luna with a smile. The guard nodded and left to bring the alicorns and Twilight to them. “Are you nervous?” “A little, it’s just been so long.” Luna replied, sighing a little. “Do you think they’ve changed much?” “I can’t even imagine what they’ve gone through.” Celestia sighed, looking sorrowful for a moment before composing herself. “Still, I hope we can make them feel welcome.” “I’m sure we have, sister.” Luna nodded, holding onto her hope. “For now, we shall take things as they come.” Celestia nodded, the sound of their guests approaching the throne room caused both their ears to perk up. Arriving in the throne room, Twilight, with a happy and eager smile across her face, was escorting two larger male alicorns at her sides. Celestia and Luna’s eyes widened, the two hadn’t changed in the slightest. Both stallions had gray colored coats, as if their bodies were made of smooth stones. Messis, the eldest of the two, had a long, flowing green mane and tail that matched his deep green eyes. Solstitio, the youngest of the two, has a shorter, bluish mane and tail that paired well with his sharp, icy blue eyes. They were the perfect representation of the Seasons in which they commanded. Though from the looks of the rest of their bodies, there seemed to be some sort of difficulty on whatever adventure Twilight went on to free them. Their clothes were not the same as they had before. They were dressed in robes, Messis’ was a mix of greens, oranges, browns, reds, and yellows, with golden leaf filigree along the lining. While Solstitio’s robes were blue and white, with silver snowflakes that ran along the edges of his clothes. Clearly these were well crafted, and no doubt Twilight had Rarity make them new, presentable clothes. "Celestia…Luna?" Messis asked as they saw them. “Look at you, look at you both! It’s been a long time.” "Yes, it is us." Luna answered, speaking calmly as she composed herself. “And it has been long. Far, far too long.” "Come here, group hug!” Celestia said, bursting out joyously as they all gathered and extended their front legs on each other's necks with tears in their eyes. “Luna, could you join us?" "I missed you two; looks like you two have grown taller than us." Solstitio said as his tears came out of his eyes. “Or maybe we just got shorter.” "We missed you two as well." Luna said as tears came out of her eyes. “Don’t worry, you’ll grow soon. I speak from experience.” “You actually did it.” Celestia commented to Twilight, having walked away from the brothers for a moment. Tears still fresh in her eyes as she looked at her former student with pride. “I…I never believed…and yet…I’m…” “It’s okay, Princess.” Twilight smiled, taking the chance to hug her former mentor. “I’m glad I was able to bring back your old friends.” “You’ve done more than that. But we can discuss it later.” Celestia replied, hugging Twilight back. “I’m sorry, but if you could give Luna and I some time to acquaint ourselves with our old friends?” “Of course, that’s no problem at all.” Twilight replied without hesitation; only a wide smile. “I’m so glad I was able to do it. And please, I’m just a message away.” “Thank you. Thank you.” Celestia whispered, her voice echoed with sheer joy and gratitude. Bowing her head, Twilight turned to leave. Composing herself as best as she could, she turned to look at Luna with Messis and Solstitio. “Luna, I think we should make this conversation a little more private?” Gesturing for them to follow, Celestia and Luna guided the two brothers towards the halls. Walking along this corridor, Messis and Solstitio’s eyes were wide and enthralled by all they saw. The stained glass that displayed the history that Celestia and Luna had experienced since their imprisonment. “I must say, this is more than I ever believed.” Messis commented, gesturing to the windows. “You two have done so much since we left.” “Honestly, I’m not surprised.” Solstitio commented. “If anyone was gonna hold a kingdom together, it would be these two.” Celestia and Luna blushed at their compliments. Eventually, the four of them arrived at Celestia’s study. Settling in, Celestia and Luna set up a table and some chairs for the four of them to sit. Sitting in their seats, the alicorns took a moment to still process everything that has been happening. Just the other day, the four of them were seperate, and now they were together again. Igniting her horn, Luna snapped her fingers, summoning a series of tea cups, sandwiches, and cookies. “Please, let us enjoy a nice meal as we talk.” Luna commented, looking at the others. “It’s been far too long, and I’m sure you two have so many questions.” “How are you doing, Solstitio?” Celestia asked, looking at him with concern. “Are you feeling well?” Her face held a look of worry. “I couldn’t even begin to imagine what you both have gone through.” “Doing good, Celestia, doing good." Solstitio replied, doing a small stretch and flex of his body. “I’m just glad to be free again.” “It’s been centuries since we last saw you.” Luna chimed in, looking between the stallions. “Do you need any help adapting to this time?” “Are you pulling my leg?” Messis asked, chuckling a hearty laugh. “It can’t be that different, right?” “Well, see for yourself." Luna said as she pointed her left forehoof to one of the windows in the room. Igniting her horn again, she conjured what looked to be some rift that gave the brothers a full view of not only the city, but it seemed to shift perspective to give the brothers a view of various parts of Equestria. “As you can see, the kingdom has expanded over the centuries.” Messis and Solstitio only looked at this rift with wide, surprised eyes. The last time they saw Equestria, there was only Skyros. Sure, this city, this Canterlot was certainly a strange capital for a kingdom. But to see the full scope of Equestria, it was more than the two had expected. After seeing the stained glass, they expected something, but it was still a lot to take in. “What is this?” Messis asked, tilting his head in confusion. “What am I even looking at?” “This is Equestria, and you two are in Canterlot right now." Luna said, playfully giggling. “Times have changed.” “Could we explore?” Messis asked with excitement. “I would love to explore it.” “Now hold on there, brother; The ponies in public most likely do not even know who we are.” Solstitio commented, placing a hoof on the stallion’s shoulder. “It takes a long time for the public to recognize us. That would be even harder without Celestia’s public acknowledgment." “Well, what Solstitio said is true; if you two fail to adapt to this world, the ponies would see you as nothing but being reckless.” Celestia nodded, agreeing with him. “We can help you get settled in this environment and time. Equestria will recognize you two as a result." “Hope what you said is right." Messis said as he smiled but expressed concern with the entire process. “Cause I wanna see what else has changed.” The following days were a slow experience for the four alicorns. Celestia and Luna wanted to ensure that both Messis and Solstitio were properly accommodated. The finest rooms in the castle, second only to the Princesses, were given to these brothers. Well furnished, stocked with everything they needed, the sisters were sure that any and every need for their returned friends were properly accounted for. As well as this, a number of royal guards were tasked with protecting Messis and Solstitio, despite them saying they didn’t need so much protection. Luna of course, agreed with them, but Celestia was insistent, unmoving in her decision. So for the time being, Messis and Solstitio had at least one or two guards with them at almost all hours of the day and night. After roughly a week, the four alicorn were sitting at the dining table. Celestia and Luna have done their duty for the day, lowering the sun and raising the moon. Messis and Solstitio were sitting, eagerly awaiting the meal that was to come. “I must say, so much has changed.” Solstito commented, looking around the table with a cheerful grin. Raising his goblet, he gestured to the wine. “Like this, I never imagined wine could taste this rich, this sweet. How is this possible?” “Well, brother, a pony’s tastes in food change with time.” Messis commented, being a little more modest in his comment. “And it’s hard to keep things perfect when time flies.” “I had the same feeling as well. Over time, I had different types of alcohol, and the taste changed for the same type throughout my life.” Celestia nodded, taking a drink. “In each period in history, adapting to new tastes is like trotting on stepping stones in a river. As for you two, you took a big leap across a pond." Everyone laughed at that joke. “So, Celestia, Luna, what’s it like being the only rulers of Equestria?” Messis asked, laughing as he put down his drink. “I’m sure after all this time, you two must have many stories for us.” "We've been through a lot.” Celestia said, finishing her drink. “There was a time when I stepped on Luna's sensitive side, and she was quite jealous. So jealous in fact, that she almost brought Equestria down with her." "I was jealous because I had my reasons, and I let them take over me." Luna scoffed, not wanting to discuss that exact memory. “But we should talk about other things.” As if on cue, the food finally arrived. Hot, steaming plates, bowls, dishes, and trays of rich looking food. Sweet desserts, tantalizing fruits, glistening vegetables, and other foods that could only be possibly described as regal and noble. Messis and Solstitio’s eyes went wide at the options, more impressed with the variety, and exoticness of the meal. Celestia and Luna only looked at them with a sense of pride, giggling at the brothers’ reactions. “Well, I’ll admit, I never expected food to look like this.” Messis commented. “What do you think Sol-” His words were cut off as his brother wasn’t just levitating food over to his own plate, but he was feverishly eating; all with a cheerful smile. “Amazing! I can’t get enough of this!” Solstitio declared, laughing heartily as he ate. Scarfing down the food as if he hadn’t eaten in years. “Celestia, Luna, this food is amazing!” Messis only shook his head a little before levitating food to his plate. “Isn’t it?” Celestia commented, casually and calmly eating her food. “Many of the ingredients come from not only the local farms, but many of the herbs and spices come from other kingdoms.” “I’m impressed.” Messis complimented, savoring his dinner with a smile. Unlike his brother, he was eating a lot more neatly. “I never would’ve imagined that culinary would be what truly brought the kingdoms together.” “It wasn’t the intention, but a lovely after effect.” Luna commented, only picking at her food here and there. She was still waking up and wasn’t very hungry. “It was through diplomacy, and shows of unity and friendship that established these alliances. The food was a happy coincidence.” “And because of this unity, everyone in Equestria can dine on such fine foods.” Celestia commented, smiling a little proudly as she explained. “If I recall, back when we were younger, only alicorns and nobility could enjoy such banquets.” “Oh yeah, I remember how expensive it was too.” Messis nodded, pausing to admire some of the food. “To know that this joyous flavor isn’t exclusive to the wealthy does make me happy.” “I know right!” Solstitio nodded, gulping down a heavy amount of food. “Everypony should feel this good whenever they eat.” The alicorn burst into laughter at the comment, filling the dining room with further merriment. As the meal was coming to an end, the four alicorns let the servants clean up the table, giving them room to enjoy the desserts that were on display. Pies, pastries, tarts, cookies, and cakes were all for the taking, and the looks of sheer joy as they enjoyed these tasty treats only made the sisters giggle. Celestia took her own extra large piece of cake, while Luna settled for smaller, bite sized apple pies. Messis settled for some sweet fruit tarts, and Solstitio seemed unable to choose and took a little bit of everything. “Not just the herbs and spices, but sugar has also become very widespread it seems.” Messis commented, shivering a little as the sweet taste tickled on his tongue. “I remember when my mother complained about the growing price.” “Oh yeah, I couldn’t have a cookie for weeks.” Solstitio nodded, chuckling as he was all but shoving a hoof full of cookies in his mouth. “So good.” “I’m glad you’re enjoying it.” Luna commented, gently wiping her mouth. “There’s this delightful bakery in the town of Ponyville. Sugarcube Corners. We should bring you there, the bakers there are among the best in Equestria.” “Oh? A town bakery, better than one in the city?” Messis asked, raising a curious eyebrow. “That’s certainly a tempting offer. We’ll have to go.” “Well, there’s also a lovely donut shop here in Canterlot.” Celestia added, finishing up her treats. “We can also go there as well.” “What’s a donut?” Solstitio asked, to which the sisters started laughing. “I mean, it sounds good. But what is it?” “It’s fried dough, often covered in powdered sugars, or sweet glazes.” Luna explained, still giggling a little. “Don’t worry, you’ll love it.” When the meal was finished, the alicorns, now well fed, left the table. Making their ways back to their chambers, the brothers were still marveling at the stained glass windows, statues, and other displays along the halls. But among the sights, the brothers couldn’t help but look at the sisters; namely, their manes and tails. Unlike them, their mane and tails didn’t move or flow like that, and curiosity was finally getting to them. "Luna, when did your mane start to move like that?" Messis asked as he felt intrigued by the appearance of her mane. “Last time I saw you, you had that shorter, blue look.” "To us, my sister and I did not know why we appeared this way, we are also taller than an average adult mare.” Luna replied, running her hoof through her mane. “I assume that has something to do with our magic." "We will grow taller than you two, you'll see!" Solstitio replied with a smirk. “Though, it’s nice to see you two have grown up. So beautifully.” Celestia gave them a smile as a reaction. "Come on Solstitio, time for bed." Messis said, yawning as he winked to the mare. “We’ll have to start up this discussion tomorrow.” Bidding the brothers a good night, Celestia and Luna continued to make their way to the former’s chambers. Both sisters were in a state of eager giddiness. The joy of the last week has been building and building for them, and now, after all this time, they could finally be with the brothers again. Messis and Solstitio were slowly adapting to the new age in which they found themselves in. And with the help of Celestia and Luna, there were no doubt that they would do well. Though as they were reaching the sun alicorn’s chamber, both sisters felt their faces blushing at words and winks that Messis and Solstitio had given them. Celestia couldn’t help but feel the winter alicorn’s eager and happy eyes sent a small warmth throughout her body. While Luna couldn’t help but feel a connection to the summer alicorn, and his cold, direct gaze was making her feel a shiver. For now though, they would keep helping their friends adjust, and consider these growing feelings at a later date. //-------------------------------------------------------// Catching up after so long //-------------------------------------------------------// Catching up after so long The following morning, Celestia's sun rose again. Messis rose from his slumber and left his bed. While trotting to the bathroom to freshen up for the day, he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror and discovered that his body had changed. His legs, body, and neck lengthened, making him taller than when he was first freed. His mane and tail changed from stationary and were now moving and sparkling. Overcome by surprise that he grew in strength and height. He all but galloped to his brother’s room. Messis desperately knocking at the door. “Solstitio, Solstitio! Open up!” Messis called out. After a huff, he pulled back, unleashing something akin to Luna’s old royal voice. “Solstitio! Wake your lazy flank up!” “What’s going on, brother, everything alright?” Solstitio asked after he opened his door, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "What happened to–” He paused, surprised by Messis’s new appearance. “I could ask the same about you, brother, and you have a beard.” Messis commented, chuckling to himself. “I believe our bodies are catching up to us.” “What do you mean, brother?” Solstitio asked as he went to the nearest mirror and peered at his reflection. “Wow, you don’t say. I have a beard.” He felt its texture, the beard had grown halfway down his neck. He had also grown in height to almost his brother’s current height. Solstitio also had a moving mane and tail. The royal sisters meet the two brothers in the dining room to have breakfast. Messis looked at his brother, shocked and amazed at what had happened to the two of them. It was like time had finally caught up to them. And while Messis was calm, or at least as calm as he could be, Solstitio was practically laughing. “Look at this! We’ve changed!” Solstitio cheered, practically skipping. “I can’t wait to see the look on Celestia and Luna’s faces.” “Well, before that, we should see how we can comb and brush this new mane.” Messis suggested joining his brother as they looked in the mirror. Running his hoof through his mane, he hummed a little. “It still feels like hair, but like a warm breeze as well.” “Your’s is warm? Mine feels like a slight chill.” Solstitio replied, rubbing his mane and beard. “Not that I don’t mind. I like the cold.” “Maybe something about our seasons?” Messis commented, pondering aloud. “Well, we should still try to make ourselves look presentable to the mares.” Solstitio couldn’t help but nod as she magically grabbed at a nearby brush. Brushing at their manes and beards, the brothers tried their best to work this new ethereal type of hair. It was strange. It behaved like regular hair, but was somewhat lighter, and flowed even without any wind or breeze. Curious, Solstitio magically grabbed at a pair of scissors, and when trying to clip at the hair, the scissors passed through. Clipping and snipping again and again, the scissors cut nothing. Messis only looked, trying his own hoof at this. Getting a hold of his own warm hair, he cut at it, but the scissors cut nothing. “Okay, maybe that explains why the two have such long manes.” Messis commented, putting down the scissors. “But there has to be something we can do about this.” “Yeah.” Solstitio commented, stroking his beard with his hoof. “I mean, I don’t want a beard so long that I trip over it.” “Maybe by that point, we’ll just float instead of walking.” Messis commented, contemplating what they could do. “For now, let’s just try to treat these manes and beards. We can ask them about how to cut and style them later.” Sitting at the breakfast table, Celestia and Luna were already sitting and enjoying themselves. Though both of them couldn’t take their eyes off the brothers. Messis and Solstitio were able to somewhat get their ethereal looking mane and beards to be more regal looking. The sisters couldn’t help themselves, the way both the stallions looked were just so handsome. Luna’s eyes were taking in the warmth of Messis mature looking splendor, while Celestia wasn’t sure which part of the cheerful Solstitio she enjoyed seeing more of, his shimmering eyes or noble beard. As well as this, the two brothers were taller, so much taller than before. Their heights were nearly a head taller than Celestia and Luna. It was quite the odd feeling. While Luna was still shorter than her sister, she was at least a little taller than even the most gifted stallions. But Celestia’s great height made her tower over so many that her size was measured more by the height of the bigger races. But to have two stallions even taller than them, they just couldn’t take their eyes off them. “So, boys, how is the breakfast I made?” Celestia said as she took a bite of her pancakes. “I hope I didn’t bother you with what I provided you again.” "They're delicious. What are these called?” Solstitio asked as he did the same. “I never had these things before." "These are pancakes. I cannot recall the first time I had them, but I know that Celestia is the one that made the best ones so far." Luna said as she took a sip of her tea. “Believe me, I tried, but they didn’t compare to my sister’s.” Her jokes caused Celestia to smile slightly. “Perhaps I could teach you then, dear sister." Celestia remarked as Luna nodded as if to say she'd like that. “But in any event, let’s keep eating. I’m sure you’ll find more amazing foods in the modern age.” Looking down at the breakfast, Messis noticed a mug of steaming liquid quite alien to him. "What is this drink called?” Messis asked, gesturing to the beverage. “I had never seen this hot brownish-black drink before." "That, that is called coffee, made from coffee beans. They were discovered a long time ago.” Celestia said, taking a moment to enjoy her own drink. “You two were frozen during that time, so try it, but the taste is something to be acquired." “You wouldn’t believe how much this was when it was discovered.” Celestia explained, sounding a little scholarly for a moment. “Because they can help give you energy without magic, it was a stable for the more early rising, hardworking ponies. This eventually led to a massive economic growth.” Taking a sip of her own coffee, she sighed. “Originally, they were quite expensive, but when we learned how to cultivate them, the prices dropped and now it’s enjoyed across all walks of life.” "Okay." Messis accepted as he drank his first sip of the dark liquid. This beverage tasted like he was drinking medicine, and the bitterness repealed him. He then took a few more sips as his taste buds adapted to the drink's taste and allowed him to drink it at a leisurely pace. "This is good, though a bit bitter. May I have some more?" “Of course, If you want, the bitterness goes away with some milk, sugar, or a little salt.” Celestia informed as she poured Messis another cup. “They can be flavored in so many ways. Why, some can even have lovely designs traced into the foam.” “This way is fine, but thank you. Breakfast is good. Sometimes I have a sense of nostalgia regarding food." Messis replied as he took the coffee and ate. "I remembered mom made something for me and Solstitio, a porridge made of hay, milk, and honey. Though I don't know what it was called then, it was certainly comforting." "Yes, I remember that as well. I miss her.” Solstitio said as memories flooded his thoughts. “I sometimes watched her cook." His lips curled into an almost saddened smile as he thought back to his mother. “Do you know how to make this porridge?” Celestia said, looking between the two. “If you want, we can put it together for you both.” “I think so, but it may not be the same as it was." Solstitio replied, wiping his face of any swelling tears. “But nah, it wouldn’t be the same. Mom just always knew how to make it perfect.” “After breakfast, you two can come with us to the courtyard to see if you remember your magic." Luna remarked as the brothers nodded. “I’m sure after all this time, you both wanna spread your legs.” “Sounds good to me. A little after breakfast exercise sounds good.” Solstitio chuckled, flexing a little. “But first, I’m going for seconds.” Messis playfully rolled his eyes as Celestia and Luna giggled under their breaths. After they finished their breakfast, the four trotted through the castle gardens. The size and splendor of many of these hedges, cut into the shapes of various animals. As well as a large number of marble statues carved in such a way, one would expect the statues to come to life at any moment. Continuing to walk, the brothers saw an almost ocean of flowers, gently blowing in the soft day’s breeze as if each colorful petal was waving a greeting to them. It was almost breathtaking and captivating. This was a garden that must’ve taken decades, maybe centuries to craft to such beauty. Eventually, the alicorn sisters brought the brothers to their destination. It was a section of the gardens that was only a series of benches, statues, shrubs, and decently sized rocks put into various arrangements. It was an impressive sight, the work of dozens of skilled gardeners. Celestia and Luna seemed confident in whatever it was they were planning, but Messis and Solstitio were still a little confused and quite curious. While still a well crafted area, it was noticeably less splendid compared to the rest of the gardens. “So, this should be far enough from anyone to properly see your magic in action.” Celestia commented, gesturing for the brothers to join them. “Since being imprisoned for so long, who knows what can happen. So we might as well play it safe.” “I was wondering why were were going so far from the main portions of the castle.” Messis nodded, looking around the area. “I think we’re…several hundreds of feet away from anyone who could be hurt.” “And if anything does happen, Celestia and I are here to make sure it’s contained.” Luna explained, gesturing to the area. “So feel free to relax and let it all out.” “Alright, Messis, show me what you got." Celestia said as she stood in front of Messis. “Don’t worry about holding back, I’m much stronger than I used to be.” Messis grunted and focused his energy as his horn took on a blue glow and his wings opened. With his glowing horn aimed at a hedge, he shot a pulse of blue magic at it. When his magic ray hit the hedge, it went from green to red through time. The alicorns stood there for a moment, watching in amazement at the magic. Even Solstitio was amazed with the magic his brother was producing. “That is impressive.” Celestia asked after she saw the hedge. “I guess nature is your thing, right?” “Of course, it is, Celestia.” Messis replied, nodding as he was amazed by his own magic. “The flowers describe their emotions with their petals, and so do the trees with their leaves or firs.” Luna was in front of Solstitio, who did the same as his brother, but his magic glowed amber like his own eyes. His magic ray hit the grass, then a patch of snow appeared over a patch of grass. As well as this, there was a small breeze, like a faint chill in the air as if a snow flurry came for only a fraction of a moment. Solstitio only smirked as he saw the little bit of snow, smuggly grinning as he looked to the others. “You know how to produce snow, do you, Solstitio?” Luna asked. “Having such cold magic can be pretty helpful on those hot, summer days.” Solstitio only playfully rolled his eyes at her joke. “Well, that is what I’m known for, but doesn’t snow come naturally from the sky?” Solstitio then asked with curiosity. “Not that I’m complaining, but wouldn't it be a violation of nature?” “Well, while you were frozen, we mainly had weather pegasi doing this seasonal weather." Luna replied with a smile. “That way, the weather can be a little more ordered and organized.” “You two don't know how to control the weather, or you don’t want to?” Solstitio asked in a serious tone. “Cause last time we walked these lands, the weather couldn’t be controlled.” “Well, I don’t know.” Luna replied while being serious. “I was not here in parts of Celestia’s rule." “But that’s a story for another time; we should focus on you two right now." Celestia said as she motioned for them to leave. “We can talk more about it later.” “Alright, it’s better to take things in strides rather than rush into it.” Messis commented, placing a hoof on his brother’s shoulder. “Come on, Solstitio.” His brother only nodded, following him as they left the mares alone. Now alone, Celestia and Luna sat on the nearby benches. They waited until both Messis and Solstitio were out of eye and ear shot before both let out small sighs of relief. It was like they were holding their breath this whole time and were finally able to breathe again. It was a strange feeling. Since seeing them this morning, the two of them looked just so regal, so handsome, both sisters couldn’t help but do everything they could to not think about it. “So, sister, how were Solstitio and his abilities?” Luna asked, hoping to change any thoughts in her mind. “He’s…he’s gotten very good. Being able to summon snow is no small feat.” “Solstitio’s powers were abilities I’ve never seen in any unicorn or alicorn today. And to do it so effortlessly too.” Celestia answered. “But it’s a power that he could learn and eventually master.” “Yes, the same goes for Messis.” Luna nodded, rubbing her chin as she pondered for a moment. “I was shocked by how the leaves change color by his magic.” She then sighed with a small blush. “He is kind of like me, and I feel so…so comfortable and safe around him." “I kinda get what you mean." Celestia said, then chuckled. “Messis has a lot of wisdom and is a powerful spellcaster. I also love how he talks.” She then sighed as well, matching Luna’s tone. “But there’s something about Solstitio. The cheerful smile on his face, it makes me feel so warm, and yet sends a pleasurable chill down my spine.” Luna couldn’t help but giggle at her sister’s words. “Are we making the right choice, sister?” Luna asked with doubt. “They have only been free for a few days, so putting so much responsibility on them so soon may be…overwhelming.” “I understand your concerns, and I agree.” Celestia nodded, sighing a little. “They will have to take on their roles sooner or later, but I do agree that we don’t have to rush into it just yet.” After leaving Celestia and Luna to their discussion, Messis and Solstitio were cheerfully walking along the halls. Occasionally, they paused to admire the impressive stained glass windows. It was quite the sight to see not only the splendor and beauty of this window, but the history that was displayed within it. They had been away for so long, and yet the more they looked on at these things, the more relaxed they would become. At least, that was how Messis seemed to be. Solstitio was all but giddy with excitement. “So, what’s going on, Solstitio?” Messis asked as he saw his brother faking his grin. “You are acting a little over excited right now. Are you ok?” “Nothing much, just trying to process what I’m thinking." Solstitio replied as he stared at Messis. “It’s just been a long day I suppose.” He glanced at his hooves for a moment. “And the magic we pulled off, it was certainly something.” “It was a bit of a surprise, yes. But is everything alright?” Messis sighed, looking at Solstitio with concern. “You can tell me. I’m your brother.” “Well, it’s just that there’s a feeling in me that feels weird." Solstitio replied. “I don’t even know how to describe it.” He then glanced over in the direction of where Celestia and Luna were. “Let me think. Hmm, that is the feeling of love, Solstitio.” Messis asked. “You have an infatuation toward someone?” “Wait…what?! No, I mean yes, towards Celestia.” Solstitio tried to deny it but couldn’t. “I don’t even know how to tell her the truth.” “Well, you are not alone.” Messis said as his mood changed from being positive to feeling doubtful. “I also have one." “Really, with whom?” Solstitio asked as his brother took a gander at the princesses. “Wait…wait…it can’t be…” “Yes, yes, it’s with Luna.” Messis replied, blushing as he looked at the mares. “There’s just something about her, I just can’t explain it.” “Maybe it’s the fact that she’s just as calm and composed as you are.” Solstitio chuckled, patting his brother on the back. “I know that reassuring smile on Celestia’s face makes me feel so warm inside.” “Funny, coming from your more winter affiliations.” Messis snickered playfully as well. “Though I’m not sure how to really approach her.” “Yeah, same.” Solstitio sighed, rubbing his chin. “Maybe we could ask Twilight for advice? She wouldn’t stop talking about Celestia and Luna when she and her friends freed us. So maybe we can try that?” “No, no. She’s clearly far too loyal to the Princesses. There’s no doubt she wouldn’t be able to keep it a secret.” Messis shook his head. “Besides, I’m certain even if she doesn’t tell Celestia and Luna, she’s bound to tell her friends. Like that unicorn…what was her name…oh yes, Rarity.” “Yeah, she seemed to love gossip. I think she asked us "how many questions about our era?” Solstitio chuckled, thinking back to the mare as she was fitting them for their royal regalia. “But we gotta tell them eventually.” “We do, we do. But…I just need more time to think.” Messis sighed, starting to walk further into the castle, his brother following. “Besides, after so many years imprisoned, I’ve gotten very good at thinking.” “Was that…was that a joke?” Solstitio gasped playfully, only to pat his brother on the back. “It must be serious if you’re able to crack a joke about it.” There was a brief silence, followed by an eruption of laughter between the two. //-------------------------------------------------------// Celestia and Solstitio's Date //-------------------------------------------------------// Celestia and Solstitio's Date The following days came and went, with the brothers still developing their newly rediscovered abilities, as well as the sisters working out how to help them adapt more and more to this modern era. And yet, with these days coming and going, all four alicorns were growing closer to each other, though neither were yet able to admit their feelings towards the other. Celestia and Solstitio, as well as Luna and Messis. These four were only a breath away from confessing their feelings, but slight worries crippled these efforts. It was on one such morning, Solstitio was walking around, when he noticed the coming dawn. Curious, he followed the light of this until he came across Celestia on a balcony. The solar alicorn looked absolutely radiant in the growing warmth of the dawn. The way the sun’s light as it cracked over the horizon made her mane and tail shimmer and sparkle in such a manner that Solstitio was at a loss for words. But this might be the perfect chance he was hoping for. "Morning, Celestia." Solstitio greeted, smiling at the mare as he trotted over to her. “Hope you slept well.” "Morning." Celestia replied with a warm smile. “And I slept well. Only just finished raising the sun.” “That is very impressive.” Solstitio nodded, marveling at the beauty of the dawn’s glow. "How long have you been raising the sun?" "Centuries, although I have to admit, I never had anypony closer to me.” Celestia replied, her voice sounding a mix of calm and nostalgic. “I know that I have a closer relationship with the sun, but that is nonsense." “I see.” Solstitio nodded as he hung on every word, working up the courage to admit something. He broke his silence. "Recently, something feels different about me." "What do you mean, Solstitio?” Celestia finished raising the sun, turning to him. “Is something bothering you?" "No, it's just..." Solstitio stopped in the middle of his sentence as he was lost in words, then blurted out. "Would you ever have somepony closer to you in life, I could be that." “What do you mean?” Celestia asked, confused by the vagueness of her friend’s words. “Is there something wrong?” Blushing profusely, Solstitio ducked his head and cleared his throat. “I was thinking…” Solstitio struggled to say as the words were caught in his throat. Sighing to swallow the last of his courage, he tried again. “Maybe you and I could go out on a date?" Celestia blushed brightly, her white muzzle was now the shade of an apple and she started to feel warm, her heart pounded in her chest as she tried to form her words. Was this it? Was Solstitio hitting on her? Was he confessing to her? The alicorn’s mind was racing as her eyes were darting about. She couldn’t stay silent forever, she had to say something to him. Solstitio was telling her his feelings, she had to return this bravery in kind. After a few deep breaths, she smiled. "What made you ask that now?" Celestia asked, she blushed a little. “N-not that I’m…well…oh my…” Blushing brightly himself, Solstitio cleared his throat to answer. "I didn't know if you were taken.” Solstitio replied, feeling a little more confident in his voice. “But since you said otherwise, I thought I’d ask.". "Well, I'm glad you talked to me about this.” Celestia nodded, smiling from ear to ear as she started walking, Solstitio followed from behind. “Yes, we can go on a date together." "Celestia, even though you have not dated before, are you good at dating?" Solstitio asked, looking sheepishly. “It’s been so long since I even thought about such things. I don’t want to ruin it by being out of date.” The mare nearly cooed at how adorable the alicorn looked with the blush on his face. "Yes, but it varies depending on the pony." Celestia answered. “I think we can take it slow, and then see where the day takes us.” Looking back at him, she couldn’t help but giggle a little. “So let’s have some breakfast, and then I can show you around Canterlot.” As Solstitio followed her, she thought to herself. ‘This is perfect! I get some time with Solstitio, and I’m sure Luna is going to have some fun with Messis today as well.’ Following a hearty and full breakfast, Celestia and Solstitio made their way into Canterlot. Wanting to be more private and alone, the princess ordered her guards to keep at a distance. Since there was no way for her to order them to leave the two of them alone all day, the best she could do was instruct them to be more hidden but vigilant. And while she liked the idea of Solstitio being out in his full splendor, but wanted his wings to be covered for his own personal protection. "Celestia, is this necessary?" Solstitio asked as he received a blue cloak from Celestia. “I mean, I’m not complaining. It looks really nice.” Looking himself over, he looked like an especially tall unicorn with an ethereal mane and beard. "Throughout my reign, ponies still do not know if alicorn stallions exist, we may reveal you two as a surprise when the time is right." Celestia replied with a wink. “Besides, I think you look quite stunning in it.” “I mean, I kinda stand out already.” Solstitio chuckled, looking himself over. “But I’ll do as you say.” Donning the cloak, he followed behind the princess. Canterlot was better than Solstitio thought. Even when he and Messis walked the streets with Twilight and her friends, the most they saw were just the main street. And even then, they were moving too fast to really enjoy the sights of the city. With Celestia at his side, the two alicorns were going to have a much better time. The cobblestone streets clopped under his hooves, almost echoing a little as it matched with the pace of the busy ponies starting up their day. Market stalls were setting up for the day. The shouts and calls of ponies trying to sell their wares. The sights, colors, smells, and even the way the breeze felt on Solstitio’s face was sending a shiver down his spine. For a moment, it reminded him of the bazaars and markets of Skyros. The way these ponies were working hard, the way they were toiling away to make their living, and yet the look of fulfillment and joy across their faces were beyond impressive to the stallion. "Things have changed around here, right?" Solstitio asked with a surprised look on his face. “So maybe it was smart to take it slow with them. Don’t wanna cause a scene if they see my wings.” "Yeah, society is like that, life changes constantly throughout my reign, ponies came and went, the changes in food, the list goes on." Celestia replied with a smile on her face. “Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it soon enough.” "Since I'm not very familiar with this time, could you guide me on this?" Solstitio asked. “With the splendor of this city, I don’t want to get lost.” "Sure, just follow me, and you will understand." Celestia replied. “But please, don’t go staring with your mouth hanging. Ponies might stare if you’re just standing there.” Following behind the Princess, Solstitio looked around to see not only what was happening on the streets, but the surrounding buildings. Skyros was a city designed around alicorns, and so with the mix of magic and flight, the architecture was designed to not only allow flight, but could be constructed in a way that almost defied contemporary laws of physics and structure. Canterlot was a different design altogether, not just in age, but in shape. Built not only with the idea of the three pony tribes coming together, the architecture reflected this. Some buildings were low and stout, while others were narrow and tall, and then some were seemingly decorated and built by magic. It wasn’t just a show of the unity of the three tribes, but also a metaphor of what earth ponies, pegasi, and unicorns could do when they worked in harmony. Solstitio was impressed, seeing such a marvelous blend of ponykind coming together like this. “Wow, this is what modern Equestria looks like, the buildings look so different.” Solstitio exclaimed with shock. “It’s just so much to take in. So different from Skyros.” “Yes, though this is just what the city looks like now.” Celestia giggled, looking back at him with a cheerful smile. “Why, only a few centuries ago, it was mainly columns, pillars, and more marble stones. But the expense became too great to maintain.” She then sighed a little, sounding more scholarly again. “And even before that, Canterlot was a mainly unicorn population before the unity of the three tribes. So this city is a testament of what ponykind can accomplish when they work together.” Trotting along the road, the two alicorns came across a bakery named, Fine Hooves Bakery. It was a quaint looking place, not too big or too small. Even having a more rustic looking log wooden exterior as opposed to many of the more brick styles that neighbored it. The scent of warm toast wafting through the air as Solstitio pushed open the wooden door as the two of them entered. The inside was just as cozy looking as the outside. The tables were made of fine carved wood, and there was a massive hearth and chimney in the far back that gave the place an additional scent of burning hickory. “Why, good morning, your highness.” The baker, who was a stout looking unicorn, greeted Celestia and Solstitio. Before he finished a thought, he gestured over to the tables. “By all means, sit, sit. Sit anywhere you’d like.” The two alicorns walked over to a nearby table while the unicorn approached them. “What can I start you off with?” “I wanted to show my friend around the city. And so I figured one of the best places to start would be a lovely place such as this.” Celestia answered with both worry and enthusiasm. “Anyways, we would like to have a raisin pastry, a croissant, and two small coffees please." “Would that be all, your highness?” The baker asked, magically scribbling the order on a pad. “We have a new shipment of chocolate biscuits from Griffonstone.” “Yes, thank you." Celestia said as she paid the bits required. “And we’ll consider the biscuits for another time.” “Amazing, such a warm place to be.” Solstitio commented, leaning in a little to whisper. “And that baker. I didn’t want to say anything, but he’s rather short for a unicorn.” “Oh yes, that’s right. This wasn’t a common thing back in those days.” Celestia nodded, leaning in to whisper as well. “Since the unification of the three tribes, many families and clans have interbred. Our friendly baker here is both a unicorn and earth pony.” “That’s amazing!” Solstitio nodded, smiling as he looked over to the baker. “Such a wondrous age to live in. Such unity was practically unheard of back in my time.” “Remind me to introduce you to this lovely family in Ponyville.” Celestia giggled quietly. “Both parents are earth ponies, but their son is a pegasus, and their daughter is a unicorn. Truly a gifted family.” The baker eventually returned with the pastries she ordered, moved them onto a well crafted looking wooden tray, along with the two coffees that were foaming at the top of two well crafted clay mugs. Celestia took them, handing Solstitio’s coffee over to him, along with raisin pastry. The stallion looked at it, curious about the flavor of such a tasty looking treat. Celestia couldn’t help but giggle a little, looking at the alicorn as if he were that curious colt she once knew so long ago. “So this is how ponies today spend their mornings?” Solstitio asked as he looked around the establishment and the baked goods with curiosity. “Looks pretty good, so I can’t complain.” “Yes, I suppose, but not all ponies do this, there are some that prefer to eat at their residence and some that prefer to go to these places on some days depending on their schedules." Celestia said with a gleeful smile. “Enjoy the pastries." “I’ll try.” Solstitio chuckled a little, lifting the pastry up to his mouth. “I mean, after the breakfast we had, I don’t even think I’ll have the room.” Celestia only smiled, sipping at her coffee as she watched him. Solstitio took a moment to admire his raisin pastry. Shaped like a swirl, flakey, and with raisins between the layers. It certainly looked very appetizing, and even without touching it, he could feel some of the warmth radiating off it; as well as the faint wisps of steam which caused the raisins to glisten a little. Swallowing his appetite a little, he took a bite of the pastry, crumbs fell, and he felt the texture, followed by its richness, sweetness, and acidity hitting his tongue. The pupils in his eyes shrank. “Oh, oh…wow…” Solstitio hummed, chewing and savoring the bite for a moment. “This is…just wow…” “Uh, are you okay?” Celestia asked, giggling only a little, but not wanting to presume he was joking around. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen anypony react like that.” Solstitio then shook his head side-to-side to get back to reality. “Yes, Just admiring the flavor." Solstitio answered as he continued to eat and speak with Celestia. “It’s so rich, and so warm.” Taking another bite, he couldn’t help but hum a little more. “I mean, don’t get me wrong. I normally love cold foods, but there’s something about a warm bite of something that just sends a shiver throughout your body.” “I know what you mean.” Celestia replied, calmly yet cheerfully eating her own croissant. “I’ve always loved these. It’s just butter in a warm and crispy roll.” She sighed, feeling a sense of joy that only sent more warmth as the food ran down her throat. Finishing up their meal, Solstitio quickly made his way over to the baker. The unicorn, who was just putting in various breads, pastries, and cakes in the oven, walked out of the back to see the alicorn looking at him with such a smile on his face. He had been a baker long enough to know what "look" meant. It was the sheer joy of another satisfied customer. Pride only filled the unicorn as he approached Solstitio. “Looks like you enjoyed the pastry.” The baker nodded, smiling warmly at the stallion. “Is there anything else I can make for you?” “Enjoyed it? I loved it!” Solstitio chuckled, looking at the unicorn with a cheerful smile. “That was one of the greatest things I have ever eaten. And I can say nothing but my highest compliments to you.” “Well, that’s pretty kind of you.” The baker smiled, rubbing his chin for a moment. “Tell you what. Since you enjoyed it so much, and of course, I can never dare charge the Princess for gracing my bakery with her presence. How’s about I get you two fresh loaves. On the house.” “Oh? Thank you, thank you!” Solstitio nodded, then a thought struck him. “If it would be okay with you, kind sir, I would like to see how such magnificent pastries are made.” “Of course, I would be honored to.” The baker replied, laughing merrily at the two. “Just so long as you don’t steal my family recipes.” Solstitio and the unicorn shared a cheerful laugh at the comment. “How’s about you coming back when I close as soon as the sun goes down? I’d love to show you everything I got.” “Sounds good.” Solstitio smiled, almost giddy with anticipation. “I can’t wait.” With that, both he and Celestia bid their farewell and left the bakery. Now back walking along the streets of Canterlot, he noticed the look on Celestia’s face. “What? You’re looking at me funny.” “It’s nothing, it’s just you’re quite the curious one when it comes to baking." Celestia said, enjoying her time with Solstitio. “Like a colt standing near the oven looking at and waiting for the finished product.” "Yes, I am curious, but my true passions were sorcery and knighthood." Solstitio laughed between his blushing. “And who knows, since Messis and I are relearning our magic, then we can see where that goes.” Celestia pondered for a moment what manner of treats Solstitio could make. Given his preference for colder things, maybe he could work towards pastries that added a pleasant chill when bitten into. Or perhaps the opposite, a warm bite of food that would push away the cold on the chilliest of wintery nights. Either way, Celestia couldn’t help but feel her own appetite being wet by the desire to try whatever Solstitio makes. "Everypony has their own talents and personalities that define themselves, they don't have just one.” Celestia said, looking at Solstitio warmly. “And who knows, maybe you can be a big strong knight someday.” “H-how about we move onto a different topic.” Solstitio asked, blushing as he looked away from the mare. "What do you like to do then, Celestia?" "Well, I like to cook when at the castle because I prefer not to have servants cook for me.” Celestia answered, her voice sounding so sweet and sincere. “Occasionally I may sing in the shower or at karaoke night in some clubs or bars, but when I’m not handling any political affairs I make the time to come out of the castle and socialize with the rest of my subjects." "Really, Celestia, I did not know you like doing these things." Solstitio replied with a chuckle. “Still, that all sounds lovely. Please, tell me more.” Celestia only smiled, more than happy to share with him. As the two continued to talk, the more they shared. The closer and closer the two of them were getting. Not only with the meal, but the company. Celestia and Solstitio were growing closer, and the more they learned about each other, the more this warm, pleasurable feeling swelled within their being. It was a good feeling, it was a pleasant experience. And for both Celestia and Solstitio, their date was nearly over, and it was impossible to tell which shone brighter, them or the blazing sun that illuminated the great city. //-------------------------------------------------------// Luna and Messis' Date //-------------------------------------------------------// Luna and Messis' Date The air was calm and comforting. Luna and Messis were sitting on a balcony, overlooking the night skies of Canterlot. A small table rested between them, each reading a book as they enjoyed a cup of soothing tea. The mare was looking through a book on the stars and constellations, a frequent topic she enjoyed reading, often laughing at how incorrect many so-called astronomers were. Messis was focused more on the reading of the Equestrian history he and Solstitio missed. It was all so fascinating, and he found himself often stuck in his books, rarely looking up. “It’s a peaceful night.” Luna commented aloud, glancing out into the darkness of the evening. The low glow of the city’s lights twinkled like the stars in the heavenly sky. “It’s also very rare that anyone wants to spend that time reading with me.” “You’ve been doing this alone? All this time?” Messis asked, his eyes still in his book as he levitated the cup of tea to his lips. “That’s so hard to believe.” “Well, it’s not like there are many who are comfortable staying awake all night.” Luna replied, chuckling a little as she was nearly finished with her drink. “Besides, I’ve grown quite used to the isolation, so it doesn’t bother me anymore.” “I understand that not many ponies are nocturnal anymore.” Messis replied, his tone of voice shifting from factual to more suave. “I was speaking more that I find it so hard to believe no one was kind enough to make the effort to spend the time with you. You’re a charming mare, so it only confuses me.” “Oh, well aren’t you a charmer.” Luna giggled, being thankful the book was hiding her blushing face. “Well, if you’d like, we can do something else.” Finishing her book, she closed it and placed it down on the table. “If I recall, you and Solstitio loved to play games.” “We did, or well, we still do.” Messis replied, calmly smiling as he finished his tea, but remained focused on his book. “But Solstitio enjoyed more athletic and outdoor games. I preferred more tactical and problem solving games.” “Perhaps a game of chess then?” Luna asked, giggling as she looked at the stallion. “I think the last time we played, we were betting on who could have the last cookie on the plate.” “It has been a long time.” Messis said, chuckling a little as he closed his book. “But if I recall correctly, I believe it ended in a stalemate when Solstitio snuck off with it while we were engrossed in the game.” “Well, no better time like the present for us to settle that stalemate.” Luna smiled, igniting her horn. In a dim flash of blue shaded magic a decorated, wooden box appears in her hooves. “I believe this set will do.” Placing it on the table, she ignited her horn. The box opened itself, the many well crafted chess pieces levitated out, almost dancing as they took their places on the board. Messis’ eyes almost gleamed eagerly as he was already formulating every possible strategy he still remembered. Luna was right, it had been a very, very long time since the two played, and he vaguely recalled the two of them were very competitive in these games when they were younger. “An impressive board. Far different from the simple wood and stone board we once played on.” Messis commented, adjusting how he sat in his chair as he hunched a little forward. “But it doesn’t matter what the board is, I don’t plan on losing.” Luna’s eager smile matched his, the two of them were ready to play. Luna laid back in her seat, her eyes staring off into space as Messis looked at her with an almost smug smile. The board between them portrayed the result of their game. The stallion had won, even as the mare had to nearly win. She never would’ve expected Messis to achieve victory, even as he had sacrificed his queen, and both rooks to do so. Letting out a clear sigh of exasperation, she wanted to congratulate him for winning, but her somewhat stubborn side didn’t want to. “Well, it seems you’ve waited all these centuries to lose.” Messis chuckled, poking a little fun at the mare. Luna only adorably pouted at the comment. “Well, since I don’t plan on leaving any time soon, we can play whenever you want.” Getting up from his seat, he stretched a little. “I believe the game has left me quite hungry. Perhaps we should have a meal?” “Sure, I think a little food will put me in the right mood.” Luna replied, smiling a little as she got up from her seat. “If I’ve learned anything, it’s that food always helps.” Messis smiled, gesturing to let her lead the way. No sooner had they arrived at the dining hall, the many kitchen staff got straight to work. They had expected Luna to want a meal at some point, and so the food was quickly prepared for the two of them. It was quite the banquet of food, bigger than the dinner the stallion had dined on before with Celestia and Solstitio. As soon as Luna picked up her knife and fork, she practically devoured her meal like a ravenous animal. Messis’ eyes widened a little in surprise as the normally calm and collected mare was eating so cheerfully and yet so sloppily. “Some things never change.” Messis sighed, chuckling a little as he looked at the mare. “Luna, you’re still terrible at hiding your feelings when you eat.” “What? No, no, that’s not it. I’m not upset at losing.” Luna replied, her voice sounding a little muffled as she was stuffing her face with food. “I’m just…just really hungry.” “Even when we were young, you always loved gorging on as much food as you could shove in your mouth whenever you’re upset.” Messis commented, almost smugly rubbing his chin. “If anything, I like it. It’s such a refreshing feeling. Like there was something I liked about you that hasn’t changed.” Luna blushed, stopping for a moment as she heard his words. Was this it? Was she flirting with her? She had almost never shown anypony this way she ate, often being a little embarrassed by it. Celestia was well aware of this habit, and was able to at best convince Luna to eat in a more dignified and civilized manner; but only in public. Messis didn’t mind, if anything, it made the mare look all the more adorable. He was a calm stallion, and it wasn’t just Luna’s equally calm composure that he found so attractive, but how she wasn’t afraid of showing her more emotional side. “Well, I better get to my own food, before you snatch it off my plate.” Messis chuckled, making Luna blush as he started eating with the same levels of savagery as the princess. “Maybe afterwards, we should make sure we still have all our fingers.” Luna giggled as she continued to eat. Following their meal, the two of them were sitting at the table, dozens of licked clean plates, bowls, dishes, and trays lay in stacks. Rubbing his stomach, Messis had to hold in a small belch as he settled in the delicious food. It had been so long since he could just let himself go like that, and it felt so comforting to do so with Luna. The mare seemed to feel the same, wiping her mouth with the silken napkin, putting it down over the last plate she ate off of. “Now that was a hearty meal.” Messis commented, leaning back as he patted his belly. “And I thought the dinner I had earlier was big.” “Yeah, the magic I use takes far more energy than you would think. So I prefer to eat as much as I can.” Luna replied, only to blush a little. “And thank you…for sharing it with me.” “Of course, I love spending time with you. Especially after so long apart.” Messis said, only to blush as well when he realized what he said. Clearing his throat, he composed himself. “A-a-anyway, what would you like to do now? The night is still pretty young.” “Hmm, actually, I think I have something in mind.” Luna said, a plan formulating in her mind. “The sky is quite clear, so let’s take a flight.” Messis bowed his head, gesturing his hoof for her to follow. Once they arrived back at the same balcony as before, the two alicorns spread their wings, taking flight into the cool night sky. The air above Canterlot was gorgeous, but once they were in the air, the view of all of Equestria was absolutely stunning. While one could see dozens of miles of the kingdom on such a clear night, alicorns had superior vision, and could see hundreds of miles. Messis could see the great farmlands, the dense forests, and just barely made out the faint glimmer of the Crystal Empire. “It’s quite the sight, isn’t it?” Luna said, giggling at the look on Messis’ face. “But I think the view is even better up there.” Gesturing up with her hoof, she pointed out some wisps of clouds that hugged higher than the castle. “This way.” Flying higher and higher, the two of them soared upwards until they were above these clouds. From there, the two sat, gazing out over the kingdom, and the view was even better than before. The frost covered mountains to the far north, the biting deserts of the far south, and the great seas that churned and flowed on both the east and eastern coasts of Equestria. The sight captivated the stallion, making his eyes shine like stars from the beauty. “I told you the view was better.” Luna laughed, playfully patting the stallion on the back. “Normal pegasi can’t fly this high during the day, the winds are too strong. And at night, when it’s calmer, they’re asleep. So I’ve spent many years seeing this view, alone.” “Well, you’re not alone anymore.” Messis said, his mouth moving before his thoughts. “I don’t think I could ever see anything like this again.” Nodding, he smiled. “Yes, the second best thing I’ve seen in centuries.” “Second best? After such a reaction, is this second best?” Luna asked, raising a curious eyebrow to the stallion. “And what, pray tell, is the best thing you’ve seen in centuries?” Messis slowly turned his head, and looked at her, compassion and devotion shone in his eyes. The mare’s face erupted into another major blush as she realized what he meant. “Oh…oh…oh my…I…I…” Struggling for a moment, she tried to compose herself. “H-h-how about another game?” “Sure, anything you want.” Messis replied, smiling warmly at her as she was still very flustered. “What do you have in mind?” “Hmm, let’s see…” Luna said, standing up. Smirking, she looked back to the stallion. “King’s pawn to E Four.” Spreading her wings, she took off into the sky. “You’re kidding me, we don’t even have a board.” Messis replied, leaping off the cloud after her. “What brought this on?” “You said it didn’t matter what the board was, so let’s try a mental one.” Luna giggled, playfully teasing the stallion. “I repeat…King’s Pawn to E Four.” “Fine, I’ll play along.” Messis smirked back at the mare. “Pawn to E Five. “Pawn to F Four.” Luna quickly replied. “King’s Gambit.” “Accepted. Pawn takes Pawn.” Messis said, maintaining his smirk at her. “Just give me a minute to get the pieces set, then we’ll see if you can redeem yourself.” The two continued to fly through the clouds, Luna leading Messis onwards as they played their game. The cool breeze of the night air kissed against their bodies while they enjoyed themselves. Messis couldn’t help but chuckle. No doubt Luna was trying to play chess against him on slightly less than favorable terms. But just because she could play a game mentally, didn’t mean she could beat him mentally. With the pieces set, he caught up to her. “All set, sorry for the delay.” Messis said, feeling especially confident as he smiled gracefully at her. “In any event, it’s your turn.” “Thank you.” Luna nodded, smiling as she too felt just as confident. “Bishop to C Four.” “Hmm, aggressive. Hoping to end this quickly?” Messis chuckled. “Queen to H Four. Check.” “You’re one to talk.” Luna giggled. “King to F One.” “A little aggression does help, but skill also matters.” Messis replied. “Pawn to B Five.” “Oh? Let’s see here…” Luna pondered aloud. “Bishop takes the Pawn.” “Knight to F Six.” Messis said, his eyes darting about a little. “Yes, that should do.” “You’re right, skill does matter.” Luna smirked. “Knight to F Three.” “Queen to H Six.” Messis said. “Really, did you think this would trick me?” “Maybe, maybe not.” Luna giggled in response. “Pawn to D Three.” “Knight to H Five!” Messis exclaimed, his voice echoing out with excitement. He then composed himself with a small blush. “Please…take your time.” “Oh don’t worry, I have.” Luna smiled. “Knight to H Four.” “Queen to G Five.” Messis smirked, getting more and more sure of himself. “So, which will you give up? The Bishop at B Five or the Knight at H Four?” “Neither.” Luna replied with the same air of confidence. “Knight to F Five.” “And that leaves your Bishop unguarded.” Messis nodded. “Pawn to C Six.” “You did the same with your Knight.” Luna smiled back. “Pawn to G Four.” “Knight to G One.” Messis quickly answered. “Skill takes time, and plans can have deeper plans.” “I agree.” Luna said. “Rook to G One.” “Really? Cause Pawn takes your Bishop.” Messis chuckled. “I know you thought you could catch me off guard, but I said, no matter the board, I’ll win.” The way they flew grew faster and faster. Luna and Messis weren’t just playing chess, but seemingly racing through the night sky. Keeping it to the air around Canterlot, they were soaring past buildings, just about the many homes and mansion, as well as the rocky mountain side the citadel rested upon. Whenever one believed they’ve taken the lead in the mental game, they would fly ahead of the other, only to be overtaken by the other one when they did their move. “Alright, I believe this will do.” Luna said, flying ahead of Messis. “Pawn to H Four.” “Queen to G Six.” Messis said, flapping his wings to catch up with the mare. “Don’t think I didn’t notice what you did.” “Careful now.” Luna giggled. “Pawn to H Five.” “I don’t know. You’re the one who lost your Bishop.” Messis smirked back. “Queen to G Five.” “Queen to F Three.” Luna commented. “I think it’s time I get a little more serious.” “As if you weren’t already?” Messis chuckled. “Then again, you almost trapped my Queen. Hmm…Knight to G Eight.” “Bishop takes the Pawn.” Luna said, her face beaming with pride. “The Bishop threatens the Queen.” “Hmm…damn…okay, that was impressive.” Messis shrugged, smiling a little. “Queen to F Six.” “Knight to C Three.” Luna quickly replied. “Hmm, looks like you’ve done nothing but develop the Queen in this game.” “Now don’t get too cocky, you’re still short a Bishop.” Messis said, sweat starting to form on his brow. “Bishop to C Five.” “Hmm…what to do…what to do…” Luna playfully hummed. “Knight to D Five.” “And my Queen takes the Pawn at B Two.” Messis stated. “Come on, what could you be planning?” “What indeed…” Luna giggled, smiling coyly. “Bishop to D Six.” “Queen takes Rook.” Messis chuckled, feeling more and more confident on his coming victory. “What are you going to do now?” “I’m still in the game…” Luna replied. “King to E Two.” “Bishop takes Rook.” Messis laughed, flying now besides the mare. “That was your last Rook by the way.” “I’m aware.” Luna said, maintaining her confident expression. “Pawn to E Five.” “Really? I have my pieces coming down on you, and you move a Pawn?” Messis asked, fully stopping. “I’m sorry, are you even trying anymore?” “No, I’m still serious.” Luna replied, stopping to return to the alicorn. “And please, it’s your turn.” Taking off, she had him follow after her. “Alright, if that’s how you wanna do it.” Messis smiled, feeling so close to his victory. “Knight to A Six.” “Knight takes Pawn at G Seven.” Luna replied, smirking almost smugly at the stallion. “Check.” “Hmm…uh huh…” Messis pondered aloud. “Knight to D Eight.” “Queen to F Six.” Luna said, her smile only growing. “Check.” “And now my Knight takes your Queen.” Messis sighed, shaking his head a little. “Honestly, what were you thinking? You have no Rooks, no Queen, and are down to your last Bishop. Really, it’s too bad you wasted your time moving your Pawn to…” Then, his mind realized where this piece was on the mental board. “...oh, you clever mare.” “Bishop to E Seven.” Luna smirked, stopping her flight to turn and look at the stallion. “Checkmate.” “Nice game, you beat me.” Messis laughed, catching up to her. “Let it never be known that I can't accept my defeat gracefully.” Luna giggled back with a blush on her face. “Good game, I’m glad we were able to do this.” Luna commented, trying to compose herself, but struggled to stop the blushing. “Looks like the night is still young. What would you like to do now?” “Hmm, I think I know what I’d like to do.” Messis said, his eyes gleaming with an intense thought as he looked at the mare. “But it’s back at the Castle.” Flying back to the castle, the two alicorns continued to laugh at the fun game they had. The two of them felt such an array of emotions. Normally calm and stoic, it was so exhilarating that they could express themselves, to be filled with the joy and revelry of just pure bliss. By the time they returned to the castle, rather than the same balcony as before, Luna then took charge, flying towards the one that connected to her room. Curious, Messis followed after. Opening the balcony door, Luna walked into the dark room, making sure to playfully swish her tail towards Messis as he caught up to her. Following onwards, the stallion found the room to be very dark, so dark, even his alicorn vision struggled to see through it. His body trembled a little, feeling almost faint tingling along his spine as he was piecing together what Luna was planning. He got his answer, the mare leapt at him from the shadows, pushing him against her bed so hard, it nearly flipped over as the two gave into their withheld, tensed up passions. //-------------------------------------------------------// Confessions //-------------------------------------------------------// Confessions The following morning, Celestia and Luna met not in the dining room, but in a smaller room they normally would use for small tea breaks between meetings. As soon as the elder sister saw the blushing look on her younger sister’s face, her lips curled into a playful smile. Sitting down with a little tea, as well as a small slice of cake, Celestia sat at the table. There was an awkward silence that seemed to go off into eternity. Eventually, the two alicorns had finished their tea, stared at each other, but Celestia was the first one to get the words out of her throat. “So, how was your date?” Celestia asked, smiling at the adorable blush across Luna’s face. “Looks like you had fun.” “Messis…is just as good at games as he was back then…” Luna blushed, whimpering a little as she couldn’t look her smiling sister in the eye. “A-a-a-anyway…I never had a chance to ask about your date. How’d that go?” “Solstitio…he’s such a lovable goof…” Celestia blushed, giggling too as she thought back to her date with the alicorn. “And I don’t think he’s gone a day without trying to try out that pastry recipe he learned.” “That would explain why the kitchen staff have been worried.” Luna replied, sighing a little. “Still, we both know how to pick them.” “Yeah, we certainly do.” Celestia agreed, nodding a little. “You seem to really enjoy them stoic and calm.” “Well, I like the peace that can come with it.” Luna commented, her lips curling into a playful smile at her sister. “And you really enjoy having as you put it, a lovable goof.” Celestria blushed harder and redder than her sister. “Oh? Are we comparing?” Celestia giggled. “Well, I can’t say Solstitio is that much better than Messis. Those two have almost always been equal at everything.” She then smirked at Luna. “But, I can say that my Solstitio has the most adorable, precious smile.” “So, you want to compare?” Luna smirked back, staring at her sister with a confident expression. “Well, since we’re going to be engaging in such childish behavior, Messis is calmer, so when he does smile, it has more value. You know you’ve earned it.” “Are you implying my Solstitio’s smiles aren’t as good as Messis’?” Celestia asked, scoffing at the notion playfully. “I figured something as stoic as him didn’t know how to smile.” “Oh he can, he absolutely can.” Luna smiled, almost purring a little at the memory of the alicorn’s precious, confident expression. It sent a small shiver throughout her body. “He’s smart, handsome, and the look on his face when you know how to play off his confidence is so fun.” “You’re such a tease.” Celestia laughed. “Let me guess, you lost in a game, and so played a little teasing, flirting game to throw him off?” Luna’s blushing face gave her all the information she needed. “Oh Luna, you’re such a little tease.” “And your date with Solstitio was any more flirtatious?” Luna returned the same stare at her older sister. “From what I can guess, you and he went to a cafe and feasted on every sweet you could shove down that royal cake hole of yours.” Celestia’s only adorable, blushing face told her what she wanted to know. “W-well…it was still fun to spend time with them.” Celestia stammered, realizing Luna had turned the tables on her, making her blush even more than she was. “Can we agree on that?” “I can agree to that.” Luna nodded, silently accepting her victory. “In any event, what should we do now?” “What do you mean?” Celestia asked, raising a curious eyebrow towards her sister. “What are you talking about?” “We’ve now been taken on dates. In your case, you’ve been seen publicly with Solstitio.” Luna explained. “No doubt any blood sniffing tabloid has been putting together all manner of articles about it. But more importantly, should we not consider the next step?” “The next step, what do you-” Celestia’s eyes widened a little, her face becoming fully red as she realized what Luna could mean. “You mean marriage?!” Luna’s face equally blushed. “I mean…it’s not like I would…what I’m saying is…” “Perhaps we should learn what they think of us first?” Luna suggested, getting up from the table. “I’m sure Solstitio and Messis are both discussing us as well. So maybe we can see if they would come to the same conclusion.” “Isn’t it wrong to spy on them?” Celestia asked, but didn’t stop Luna as she walked out of the room. If anything, she began to follow her closely. “I mean, it’s not like I’m not a little curious, but it just feels a little…wrong.” “It’s not the most honorable thing to do, but it’s our best way of finding out without making it feel like we’re pressuring them.” Luna quietly countered, not wanting any nearby guards or servants to overhear them. “But if we want to know the truth, this is the only way.” Celestia had no argument, following behind her sister. While Celestia and Luna were discussing their dates with Solstitio and Messis, Messis and Solstitio were busy in a discussion about their dates with Luna and Celestia. Like the sisters, these brothers were in a private room, with one pacing back and forth almost impatiently, while the other was relaxing, reading a book while drinking some tea. Sostitio was so restless, his mind thinking back to the spectacular date he had with Celestia, as well as the strong desire to show her the recipes he had learned, but nervousness made him hesitate. Messis wasn’t outwardly as nervous, but was certainly inwardly worried. Since his date with Luna, he had been analyzing, and over analyzing everything about it; as if every little detail of it had some hidden meaning he just didn’t quite understand. “Solstitio, you’re gonna put a rut in the floor if you keep pacing like that.” Messis commented, not even looking up from his book as he commented. “It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you this nervous.” “How can I not be!” Solstitio snapped, only to compose himself, at least as best as he could. “Sorry, sorry. I’m just so…I don’t know, I can't describe it.” “Well, obviously you’re in love.” Messis replied, smirking subtly at the expense of his brother. “I mean, come on, Solstitio. If it was any more obvious, you and Celestia would be joined at the hip.” Solstitio wanted to say something in response, but the words were caught in his throat. Like some lump, or an overabundance of food shoved down his gullet, he just couldn’t swallow down this nervousness. Messis was correct, he was in love with Celestia, so much so, he had slaved away in the kitchen for days to try and bake her the perfect treat. But no matter how good it came out, or how much the kitchen staff and other servants said it was a culinary masterpiece, something about it just felt off. Regardless, he just couldn’t bring himself to give this to Celestia. How could he possibly give her anything but the best? “W-well…what about you?” Solstitio responded, trying to take some attention off his nervousness. “You and Luna have gotten pretty close, right? Didn’t you tell me she beat you in a game of chess?” Messis’ face blushed for a brief moment before putting it back in his book. “That’s not the same. She outwitted me, sure. But I wouldn’t say she fully beat me.” Messis responded, having only a faint crack in his normally calm tone. “I defeated her in one game, and she bested me in the next. So it’s a tie.” Solstitio’s lips curled into a playful smirk at his brother. Messis couldn’t deny that he too had fallen in love. There was just something about Luna, the way she was calm, composed, collected in her thoughts, and yet there was something deeper than that. She was so kind, understanding, compassionate, and equally capable of being playful. Luna was a mare who could attend the highest degree of noble galas, and yet equally go to the most rustic and mundane parties, and still have so much fun. And above all, she was clever. More than clever, she was highly intelligent, something Messis greatly valued, and respected about her. It was obvious he was into her, and yet he felt a hesitation to confess his feelings for her. While Solstitio could be the more emotional of the two, it was a little embarrassing that Messis couldn’t commit to confessing. “Well, there’s nothing we can really do about it.” Messis commented, trying to take attention away from his faint, embarrassed blushing. “It’s not like we can just confess to them right then and there.” “Well…no…I mean yeah, we coud…” Solstitio groaned, pacing even harder as he was wrestling with all manner of thoughts. “Like, it’s not like we can just walk right up to them and just tell them…right?” “Well…” Messis said, but then as he looked up from his book, he happened to look over to the doorway. His lips curled a little. “Well, let’s pretend you actually could confess your feelings to Celestia. What would you say to her?” “I…I would tell her how much she means to me.” Solstitio commented, pausing as he really tried to put in words how he felt. “Celestia…she just is my everything. I don’t know if it’s from when we were young, but I just want to be with her. I…I love her…” The way he looked at his brother, the honesty and emotion of his words, brought out a low, smiling sigh from Messis. “Well, since we’re on the topic…” Messis replied, looking over to the room doorway. “I feel the same towards Luna. She is just someone I want to be with. She is a mare who I have always respected, and dare I say, I love her too.” He sighed, putting down his book. “But, why don’t we ask them?” Igniting his horn, he opened the doorway, revealing not just Celestia and Luna, but they both held such tears of joy in their eyes. Solstitio’s face erupted in a massive, red blush. He had no idea the two were there, and it seemed Messis had noticed for a while now. Was that his plan? To get his shy brother to confess, and help him with Celestia? He certainly had no hesitation when it came to confessing his feelings about Luna. So maybe this was just some part of a plan? Still, the way the mares looked at these stallions, they slowly made their way into the room. Celestia embraced Solstitio, and Luna all but lunged at Messis. “Is that how you truly feel?” Celestia asked, sniffling as she looked at Solstitio. Still in shock the alicorn could only nod. “Yes, yes! I do too, I do too.” “Then I guess it’s decided.” Messis chuckled, kissing Luna on the cheek as he held her close. “We should begin preparations.” He smirked at the mares. “I feel a royal wedding of this size would be quite the spectacle.” The streets of Canterlot were crowded by the massive gathering. So much so, every guard, even those in the reserves were called in to coordinate and keep the streets organized. Every member of the Wonderbolts were in the skies, not only patrolling, but filling the air with all manner of showmanship and wonder. The cloud patrols were tasked with crafting not only the clouds, but even to give the sky a beautiful series of rainbows to display the big day. Unicorn magicians fired off explosions of light and magic, the mountain seemed to shake in joy with the constantly moving beats of countless hooves. Delegates, leaders, and monarchs of all the surrounding kingdoms have come for the big day; the marriage of Princesses Celestia and Luna, with Princes Solstitio and Messis. The sheer number of honored guests and world leaders made it clear that there wouldn’t be enough room for everyone in Canterlot, let alone Equestria to fully attend. This couldn’t be allowed. Both Princesses wanted this glorious day to be spread across the land. So, for the first time in centuries, the Sun and the Moon were brought together. The formed eclipse was further adjusted, creating a dazzling light across the sky that rather than blind any who looked, would instead give all who gazed upon it a perfect view of the grand event. The marriage was the talk of Equestria for weeks, and the preparation was said to be worthy of a holiday in splendor, and the rumors of the Princesses’ wedding gowns were said to be the envy of all Equestria, crafted by the famous Rarity. While both alicorn pairs held airs of confidence and composure, behind closed doors, the four of them were in a panic. Celestia, dressed in a gown that seemed to radiate with the brilliance of the sun, as if it was creating its own light, was pacing nervously back and forth. Luna, dressed in a gown that held dimmer colors, but sparkled as if she was a walking piece of the night sky, joined her in the nervous pacing. They were nervous, almost ready to fall over in a panic. Never did they believe they would ever marry, and now, now was the big day, and they were unable to contain themselves. And with so many eyes upon them, the fear of making some mistake was palpable. Thankfully, Princesses Twilight and Cadance were there for them. “Come on, Aunties. It’s not that bad.” Cadance commented, trying to reassure the two alicorns. “I know my marriage was a little scary, but hey, at least you don’t have to worry about a changeling invasion.” “Part of me wishes there was one.” Celestia panted, her eyes darting back and forth. “What if we mess up our vows? Maybe they won’t like the gown? What if…I don’t know…something, anything goes wrong?” “Agreed.” Luna chimed in. “Today is a day that will result in fame, or infamy. Who knows what could happen, and it would be foolish not to consider every…possible…outcome…” “It’s scary, sure. But don’t worry, Princesses.” Twilight said, helping Cadance in trying to calm them down. “Besides, I’m sure they’re just as nervous as you are.” “And don’t worry about that, either.” Cadance said before Celestia or Luna could respond. “I left Shining Armor with them, so I’m sure they’ll be needing help too.” “Yes, and Shining Armor is good at getting to the point and cutting to the direct talk.” Luna commented, thinking aloud as she stood besides Celestia. “Soon enough, we’ll be walking through those doors, we’ll be before every eye in Equestria, and we will be the happiest mares there are.” “Luna…I love you, but you are really, really bad at taking the pressure off.” Celestia nervously giggled, almost curling up on the nearby lounge sofa as the weight of just how visible this all was was taking a toll on her. “There’s going to be so many ponies, non ponies, and who knows who else watching. Something that has never been done before, and now we have to get it perfect.” Twilight and Cadance playfully rolled their eyes as they joined in trying to help her. As the two mares continued to try and comfort the Princesses, Shining Armor was dealing with Solstitio and Messis. The two stallions were in a similar state to Celestia and Luna, though there was somewhat of a more dynamic difference. Rather than being the one to pace back and forth, Solstitio was sitting somewhat calmly, but it was clear his mind was racing. Messis, however, was the one who was doing all the pacing. Solstitio’s suit was a well crafted one of spring and summer themes of greens and browns, all with leaf motifs stitched into it. Messis’ suit was a fall and winter theme of blues and whites, with snowflake motifs stitched into it. Both suits were also done personally by Rarity, and she poured her heart and soul into these with the same passion she did for Celestia and Luna’s. “I’ll admit, when I heard of you two, I imagined Messis being the calm one in this case.” Shining Armor commented aloud, deciding to speak casually to his soon to be uncles-in-law. “But there’s nothing to worry about. You two are about to marry two of the most beautiful and wonderful mares in Equestria. You should only feel happy about it.” “Well yes, that much is obvious.” Messis commented, speaking in a huff as he was embarrassed showing this much worry and emotion. “But I just can’t stop thinking about all the many ways things could go bad.” His was, though somewhat focused, was clearly overthinking more than he should. “With so many important figures, there’s no telling what sort of enemy, monster, or anything could attack us.” “If it means anything, that actually happened at my wedding.” Shining Armor commented, hoping that could somehow calm the alicorn. It didn’t, but he continued. “Look, no matter what, there’s gonna be some changes and adjustments. But what matters is that when these challenges come, you aren’t alone. You both have your new partners to help see them through. Love and compassion are powerful things, you know.” “He’s right, he’s right.” Solstitio commented, swallowing a heavy gulp of his nervousness. “It’s gonna be hard, awkward, and there are gonna be more eyes on us than we can see or count. But you know what, they’re going through the same thing. And I think we should set a good example.” Messis nodded, taking a few deep breaths to try and compose himself again. “Looks like you two are ready.” Shining Armor nodded, just as his ears perked as Twilight and Cadance sent him a magical message. “And I just got word from the others that Celestia and Luna are just as ready. So we better get you two at the altar before they arrive.” “Alright, this is it. No going back.” Solstitio commented, walking besides Messis. “Are you ready, brother?” “Ready as I’ll ever be.” Messis nodded, chuckling nervously. “Time to make the biggest, and happiest choice of our lives.” Solstitio burst into laughter, the two seemed just about ready for it. Shining Armor sent a magical reply to Twilight and Cadance, letting them know the grooms were ready. //-------------------------------------------------------// Marriage and Honeymoon //-------------------------------------------------------// Marriage and Honeymoon It was time! The wedding had begun. The guests have gathered in the central chambers of the throne room. Princess Cadance was standing at the altar to help official the wedding, with Solstitio and Messis standing at their place before the stand. Shining Armor was in the special seats, doing his best not to cry. Weddings were always a weakness for him. Thankfully, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie were there to help comfort him. Twilight was busy with Celestia and Luna, guiding them to the grand ceremony. Every guard in the hall saluted them, tapping their weapons in a rhythmic display, while the servants already were throwing flower petals along their path. And following behind them, Spike, holding the pillow that held the rings, pairs of brilliant horn rings crafted from the finest golds, silvers, and platinum. The many guests stood as the brides-to-be walked by them. There was a chorus of music and singing from the most talented ponies in Equestria, and many a unicorn in the same field used their magic to give a visual display of spectacular wonder as the music played. The rays of the run burst through the window, shining brightly and beautifully over the aisle, ending at the altar. It was as if Equestria itself was blessing this marriage. Many guests cried tears of joy, soaking the floor as they wiped and watched as the brides were approaching the grooms. Flower petals danced on a faint wind, mixing with the magical displays to give an even greater splendor and beauty to the ceremony. The stallions’ hearts were hammering hard in their chests, and the look of their beautiful brides only added to their nervousness. The brides were equally nervous, seeing the mature splendor of their grooms. Even as their legs felt so heavy and wobbly, the two mares approached the altar. Spreading her wings, Cadance ignited her horn, ushering in the beginning of the ceremony. A hush fell over the crowd, and for a moment, it was as if all of Equestria had gone silent. The room slowly filled with light, illuminating the four alicorns in a dazzling display as she reached out to bring the rings to the altar. The day was here, the moment was at hoof, and within seconds, there would be no going back, and the history of Equestria would be forever changed. Taking a deep breath, Cadance looked at the four, and smiled. “Mares, Gentlecolts, and all those who can see this, we are gathered here to join the union of Princess Celestia to Prince Solstitio, and Princess Luna to Prince Messis.” Cadance announced, her voice echoing out as it reached across all corners of Equestria. “Brought together in a glorious celebration, these four alicorns have pledged themselves, and their eternal lives together.” Lifting the rings, she presented them to the engaged pairs. “And now, do you, Celestia and Luna, take Solstitio and Messis as your husbands?” The mares took the rings on their horns. “And do you, Solstitio and Messis take Celestia and Luna as your wives?” They in turn placed the rings on their horns. “And by the power blessed in me, I hereby pronounce you husbands and wives!” The entire room, if not all of Equestria danced and cheered at the beautiful display before them. The princesses embraced the princes in a passionate, loving kiss. Their horns burst with light, filling the room with a brilliant display of sun and moon light, as well as a calming warm breeze that swirled and met with a chilling breeze that brought a strange, but enjoyable feeling to all in attendance. The alicorns couldn’t be more happy about this. Their big day had come, and in front of all these guests, Solstitio and Messis used their magic to not only lift their new wives, but carry them now down the aisle as they set off for their honeymoon, and then the rest of their eternal lives together. Following the wedding ceremony, the four went to the one place they were guaranteed to not be bothered for their honeymoon. An island, off and away from any and all charts and maps, something only an alicorn would know about. Along the way, the four of them just couldn’t take their hooves off each other. There were many bouts of giggling, laughter, joy, and how they couldn’t stop from hugging or kissing, even as they flew towards the island. Normally, someone a level headed as Luna or Messis might comment how they should wait until they arrive, but they were just as engrossed into each other as Celestia was with Solstitio. “We should be coming on the island soon.” Messis commented, calling out to the others. “It’s been so long since we’ve been there, I wonder how it looks now.” “We’ve worked hard to maintain the splendor and beauty of it.” Celestia commented, smiling at the stallion. “Luna and I have been using it for a break and retreat for centuries now, and wanted to make sure it stayed a special place.” “Well, if it’s anything like I remember, then I can’t wait to see it!” Solstitio laughed, grabbing at Celestia in a loving hug as they flew. “A special place for the four of us is exactly what we need!” The four continued to fly on, chatting, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company. After landing on the island, the four alicorns couldn’t contain themselves any longer. Celestia and Solstitio, as well as Luna and Messis, took the things they brought with them, and went straight to their rooms. Rather than being staffed by any living ponies, but more akin to golem like creatures. These beings were very similar to modern Crystal Ponies, but were much simpler, never speaking, and seemed to work as though they were all a hive mind. It was a servant species of constructs, crafted by the ancient alicorns so many millennia ago, and were ready to serve and provide for the two married couples. Both couples’ rooms were rather spacious, fitting for the alicorns that they were. There was a singular, massive bed, fit for both the alicorns, and even accounted for their wingspans. An equally large restroom with bath and shower to accommodate their sizes. And finally, a large door that not only opened to a balcony, but it was the perfect view of the open, sparkling sea, the clear sky, and the sheer breath of peace and joy that just being here brought on them. It was something that made the four of them shiver with delight. The two couples had their rooms on somewhat farther ends of the massive manor complex; perhaps a subtle hint that what both newly wedded couples were going to do could be quite loud. “I still can’t believe this place is still up and running.” Solsitio commented, looking around in wonder at the sight of everything as he and Celestia settled in their room. “So, what do you want to do-” As he turned to ask his question, his newly wedded wife gave her answer. She lunged at him, pushing and knocking him over as they both landed hard on the massive, soft bed. Solstitio, on his back, looked up at Celestia. The mare was panting, staring down at him with an intense look in her eyes. There was nothing more to say, he could tell what she wanted, and it was their honeymoon, so there was no harm in giving in. The mare leaned over, kissing passionately against her lover’s lips, who reached up with his forehooves, hugging her closer as he kissed her back. The two were moaning in the other’s mouths as their tongues quickly embraced the other. Pleasure trembled throughout their bodies, and they could feel their arousal getting hotter. Under the mare and between her smooth legs, Solstitio’s cock was growing, rubbing gently between Celestia’s soft ass. She cooed, shivered as she could feel the heat of this cock rubbing between her ass cheeks. She couldn’t see it, but the way it felt, she could just barely imagine how it would feel when he would delve this thickness deep inside her. Fidgeting, Celestia wiggled and bounced her soft, round ass over this cock, savoring the way this dick was twitching, only to then tense up as the hot drops of his oozing precum landed on her flank. Her face blushed, but it didn’t stop her from continuing to kiss Solstitio. The stallion couldn’t believe what was happening, and yet his body was certainly reacting much faster than his mind was. His cock swelled and swelled, growing as Celestia’s beautiful ass was picking up the speed of her grinding. The way she was going at it, she might get him to cum before he even has the chance to stick it in her. She moaned and made out with her lover for several more long moments before he would cum. As much as she wanted to see the adorable look on his face when he would blow his load, she didn’t want to wait any longer. And she absolutely wanted every drop of his life giving seed to be released in her fertile, virgin womb. Slowing down, she lifted herself upwards, and using her magic, took a firm grip of the stallion’s cock. “I’ve waited…for so long…for this…” Celestia panted, her hot breath kissing at Solstitio’s face as she slowly pulled away. Looking at him, her eyes were practically glowing with her primal, hungry lust. “And now…it’s all mine…” Slowly, she lowered herself on the stallion’s cock, cooing softly as she offered up her virginity to him. Solstitio winched for a moment, feeling his dick get slightly squeezed by the tightness of his wife’s loving embrace. Celestia’s voice let out a sweeter and sweeter moan of pleasure, her body instinctively wiggled as she made her way down and over this cock. The love that had been built for so long had finally come full swing, and she couldn’t think of anything but the pleasure she and her new husband would be making love not only all day and into the night, but she wanted to make up for the long, long centuries without him. Once she settled on this dick, Celestia held herself in place, wanting to make sure she was going to be able to handle her lover’s size. Solstitio was so big, and the heat he was radiating into her pussy caused her to clamp down on it so lovingly. The stallion gasped a bit as he could feel how the mare was embracing him, before she slowly lifted herself, shuddering and cooing as she could feel every inch of this marvelous dick rub and grind against all her most sweet and sensitive spots. For a moment, she nearly lost her balance, dropping back down, and trembling as this cock pushed along her inner folds, making her gasp out and moan. “Looks like you might need some help.” Solstitio smirked, marveling at the adorable, goofy smile on Celestia’s orgasming face. Reaching up, he rested his forehooves comfortably on his wife’s flank. She tensed up at his touch, and shivered as he pulled a big back. “Don’t worry, it’s my first time too. So let’s be gentle.” With that, he used the springiness of the bed to push back up, nearly bottoming out in Celestia’s pussy. “Those two just can’t be quiet, or subtle, can they?” Luna sighed, rolling her eyes playfully as she could hear the faint sound of Celestia’s sultry and beautiful moans she was riding on Solstitio’s cock. “Well, at least we know how to respect their privacy, right?” Looking down, she smiled at Messis. As soon as the two got into their room, the two newlyweds were all over each other, but it was more of a mutual thing, rather than one leaping at the other. Luna and Messis took several long moments to kiss, fondle, and make out with each other, but the stallion seemed interested in tasting other parts of her. It started from her lips, the stallion was careful and delicate as he kissed her, then moved from her mouth, to her cheek, and along her neck, and then to her body. Luna’s body tingled and shivered from her lover’s kissing, but it was when she felt his hot breath against her waist, and only proceeded to go lower, that she let out a soft cooing sound. Messis wanted to just take his cock, which was swelling and growing between his legs, and fuck his newly wedded wife, but didn’t want to rush into it. There would be plenty of time, as well as the rest of their lives, and so there was no hurry. Instead, he wanted to show her how much he truly loved her. Continuing to drift lower and lower, his kissing lips eventually went between her smooth, cool thighs. Her pussy was quivering, becoming dripping wet as she was giddy with anticipation for what he was about to do. Her moist lower lips winked a little at him, which only trembled some more as his break kissed against her. But then another sensation rippled through her, a slight chill. Given his nature as an alicorn of autumn and winter, Messis was able to let out a cooling breath, which shivered and tingled the mare’s pussy lips as she blew at them. Luna cooed and moaned, trembling a little as she looked down at the stallion’s head. There was an intense, focused look on his face, and it only made her blush, and her pussy was quivering, getting wetter as he moved in closer. The way his cooling breath felt against her moist, wetness was making her only want him to get to it. He was taking his time, but the wait was making Luna more and more eager. He was such a tease, and she loved him, but her needs were screaming at her. “Messis…I love you…but you’re taking…too…long…” Luna moaned out, biting at her lower lip as she reached out with her forehooves, placing them on Messis’ head before guiding him to her pussy. Immediately, he started to lick against her pussy lips. “Oooo yeah…that’s the stuff…right there…don’t stop…” Messis licked and ate out his wife, feeling the heat of her inner sex contrast against his skilled, chilled tongue. The mix of temperatures was making a faint mist of passionate steam to lift from her quivering pussy, and she trembled and moaned from it. Pressing a little more with her forehooves, Luna was moaning out, muffling the best she could, as to not announce how good this felt, compared to Celestia, who was clearly enjoying whatever hot and passionate fuck Solstitio was giving her. Messis smothered himself a little more between Luna’s thighs, feeling a sense of relaxation as he was building her up to a quick and hot orgasm. The mare panted, feeling her inner places becoming tight, and she was getting ready to cum. “Messis…Messis…Messis…” Luna moaned, panting as she looked down at the stallion. “I’m gonna…gonna…oh my…ahhh!” Arching her head back, she let out her orgasm in a squirting spray of her sparkling nectar all over Messis’ face and tongue. “Oh…oh my…that was…amazing…” Laying back in the afterglow for a moment, she savored this feeling. “Sounds to me like you’re ready to give up.” Messis smirked, looking up from between Luna’s legs. “Or maybe you need me to take charge while you just lay there and take it.” “Don’t get too clever with me…” Luna playfully smirked, rubbing at the top of Messis’ head with one forehoof. “Or I might just push you over and ride that adorable face of yours.” “Now don’t you go threatening me with a good time.” Messis chuckled, playfully sticking out his tongue, which made the mare blush at him. “Well…shall I continue?” Luna nodded, a little winded, but her more competitive side was trickling out, and so now these two were going to make sex into a fun and sexy contest. The following morning, the four of them were feasting on a massive breakfast. The newly wedded couples were all over each other. Feeding each other, cooing and giggling together as the aftermath of their previous, passionate night wasn’t just still fresh on their minds, but it was like their bodies were still adjusting to the pleasure that had never felt before. As they ate, any attempts at conversation were met with only the repeated giggles and coos as the four of them played and teased each other. But eventually, a few hours after they had finished their last bites, did the four of them seem to settle down. Sitting at the table, snuggling and nuzzling together, the alicorns enjoyed the peace of the moment. “So…what will we do when we get back?” Messis asked first. “We’re married, and now Equestria has a pair of Princesses and Princes. So what, Solstitio and I get our own thrones next to yours?” “I mean, if you don’t like that…” Luna cooed. Kissing at Messis’ cheek, she whispered in his ear seductively. “Celestia and I could always just sit on your laps.” The stallion’s face went red in a blush. Celestia and Solstitio could only imagine what she had whispered in his ear. “I’ve already contacted the finest craftsmen in Equestria, and there will be new thrones crafted and ready by the time we return.” Celestia explained. “Right now, Twilight is holding Canterlot together, so there is no rush just yet.” “Which only means we’ll have all the time to really enjoy ourselves!” Solstitio laughed, hugging Celestia close to him, kissing her cheek playfully. “We can worry about how we’ll rule Equestria later. For now, we should enjoy ourselves.” “I suppose you are right.” Messis nodded, nuzzling lovingly against Luna’s cheek. “Besides, from now on, whatever we do, we do it together.” “Yes, together and forever.” Luna agreed, nuzzling loving back to her husband. “We’ve waited for so long to be together. So Equestria can wait, and when we return, the four of us will rule jointly and equally.” The four alicorns continued their discussion. Plans and ideas of what to do when they returned were flowing, and as fascinating as so many of them were, they all reminded each other how they would put these into effect as soon as they returned, and not a moment sooner. They were going to enjoy their honeymoon, they were going to let out the emotions, love, and passionate feelings that have been held onto for so many centuries. Celestia and Solstitio, along with Luna and Messis were together again, and planned to live out the rest of their eternity, happily and justly ruling over Equestria, and to spend every moment of it in pure and absolute happiness.
