Through heavy eyelids, Button Mash caught a glimpse of her as he stirred awake, groggily shifting onto his side. He could feel her breath from across the bed, as the ache in his back yanked him out of his morning daze.
The girl, who was only an orange blur as Button struggled to open his eyes, seemed to have woken up just moments prior, facing towards him with a grin on her face.
“Good morning, Button!” the girl said, smiling from ear to ear.
Button roused at the calling of his name, and blinked a few times. She was around his age, lean and toned, with a coat of orange and a curly mane of purple cut short.
“...G-Good morning, uh…” Button said, staring at her, at a blank.
“Oh my Celestia,” the girl said at once, narrowing her eyes, recoiling in shock, “...Do you not remember my name?”
“No!” Button spat, rubbing his face with his hoof, inhaling and straining for words, “No, um…”
“Really?” the girl yelled, horrified, glancing around the room in embarrassment. She had sat herself up on the bed, wrapping her hooves around herself as the blankets fell away.
“Of course I know your name,” Button insisted, “Um…”
“Oh. My. Celestia! This is so humiliating!” the girl winced, rubbing her forehead as if to soothe herself, “You definitely do not remember my name!”
“Hey hey hey no,” Button assured, reaching for her foreleg to comfort her, all while laughing nervously, “Obviously…I know what your name is.” He continued laughing under his breath, before shifting his gaze down towards the black earrings beading the girl’s ears, “Those are awesome earrings, where did you get those?”
“Oh my Celestia.”
“I mean wow, they’re so so pretty,” Button exclaimed.
“I’m gonna go,” the girl said, dryly, shifting towards the edge of the bed.
“No! Hey, um…” Button said, rubbing at his eyes, “Don’t leave….” He shut his eyes and shook his head and thought hard. Sunshine. Raindrop. No…. “....Sunshower?”
“What?” the girl cried, distraught.
“OK, Honey Drop, c’mon,” Button said.
“I’m an idiot,” the girl said, burying her face in her hooves.
“Glitterbelle, Bubblegum, Lily!” Button guessed.
“It’s SCOOTALOO! YOU IDIOT! MY NAME IS SCOOTALOO!” she screamed.
“Right, Scootaloo, OK, Scootaloo, I’m sorry, I’m just…” Button began.
“It’s fine,” Scootaloo rolled her eyes, trying to calm herself down, “It’s…Whatever.”
“If it makes you feel any better, I really…I don’t remember anything from last night,” Button said, laughing off the pressure building in his forehead, the result of his waking hangover.
“You don’t remember meeting me?” Scootaloo barked.
“No! OK, that sounded horrible, I didn’t mean it like that,” Button faltered.
“Wow. Yeah. No. Yeah. That really makes me feel better,” Scootaloo said.
“OK, Scootaboo,”
“Scootaloo!” Scootaloo corrected.
“Right,” Button said through an exhale.
“My name is Scootaloo, OK?” Scootaloo said, this time more softly, as if desperate for him to remember this time.
“Yes….Scootaloo,” Button said.
“Whatever,” Scootaloo scoffed.
“I’m sorry, I just,” Button said, “What I wanna say is…You…You are so beautiful, and memorable, and I would’ve and should’ve remembered you, and honestly I’m just proud of myself for whatever we did last night, because I’m surprised I could convince somepony as beautiful as you to even come home with me!”
Scootaloo sighed, and a smile returned to her lips.
“You said the same thing when we were leaving Rumble’s last night,” Scootaloo smiled to herself, closing her eyes as the memory passed through her mind.
Button took a moment to process what she had said, and once he had he gave her a puzzled look.
“Rumble?” Button repeated.
“Yeah, we met at Rumble’s, then you called a Pegalift™ to get us back here and then we had a nice night,” Scootaloo said.
Button’s brow was furrowed in confusion.
“Pegalift™?”
“Yeah,” Scootaloo said, exhausted with having to remind him.
“...No,” Button said skeptically, “I’m banned from Pegalift. After the whole…..vomit incident.”
“Then it was a Helping Wing™! What does it matter, you don’t remember, it doesn’t…” Scootaloo trailed off, noticing Button sniffing at his foreleg.
“...I smell like I ran home last night,” Button said, confused.
Scootaloo laughed to herself.
“I think that’s because we got in quite a workout last night,” Scootaloo grinned.
“Oh?” Button smiled, “...Did we now?”
“Yeah, yes,” Scootaloo laughed.
Button glanced toward the bed, and back up at Scootaloo.
“Was it good?” he asked.
“It was…” Scootaloo said, and she seemed to be struggling to find words, “It was great. You were….You were great.”
Button stared at her, blankly.
“I was great?” he said.
Scootaloo nodded.
“Yep!” she chirped.
“You’re lying,” Button said, dryly. He was glaring at her now, and suddenly felt uneasy.
“W-What?” came Scootaloo.
“I-I was suspicious when you mentioned Rumble. And then I kinda knew something was up when you said Pegalift. But now I’m sure you’re lying.”
“What are you talking about?” Scootaloo laughed, nervously.
“Listen sweetheart, plenty of girls have described me as tolerable in bed, OK? And a few nice ones, like one or two, have said I was good enough. But never, and I mean never, has anypony said I was great in bed. So I’m gonna ask you one more time, who are-” Button attempted to say, as he tried to sit up. Only then did he feel the friction of the hoofcuff wrapped around his hoof, tethering him to the bedpost.
Scootaloo bit her lip. Button Mash stared at the handcuffs in disbelief.
“Did…Did you….Did you hoofcuff me??” Button said, turning back to Scootaloo.
“Oops!” Scootaloo grinned.
Button fought against the restraints, fruitlessly.
“Who are you?” Button demanded.
“I’m Scootaloo, silly,” Scootaloo giggled, “I told you that.”
“No. No no no. Who the hell are you and why am I in hoofcuffs?”
“Oh….” Scootaloo said, as if a thought had just occurred to her, “I’m Sweetie Belle’s best friend.”
Button’s eyes widened.
“Sweetie Belle,” Button repeated, “As in….My ex Sweetie Belle.”
“Yeah,” Scootaloo said, grimly, “The one whose heart you broke.”
“I didn’t…I didn’t break Sweetie’s…”
“Yes, you did!” Scootaloo said through a phony smile, “Yes you did.”
“Are you sure? I-”
“You broke her heart, when you fucked that whore Diamond Tiara,” Scootaloo said, her smile falling right off her face.
Button lowered his head.
“She knows about Diamond?” Button asked.
“We all know about Diamond!” Scootaloo barked.
Button stared at her with wide eyes that betrayed his fear, and he continued wrestling with the cuffs.
“Awww. Yeah. This is fun. Yeah, keep trying. You’re definitely gonna get out of here,” Scootaloo laughed, “So cute! Aw, you’re probably so scared, aren’t you?”
“Yeah, ‘cause you’re fucking crazy!” Button said.
“No, you’re crazy. You’re crazy for breaking my best friend’s heart and thinking there wouldn’t be consequences!” Scootaloo said.
“Wha-....OK what are you gonna do to me?” Button stammered.
“Well….See that all depends on what you’re willing to do….for me,” Scootaloo grinned, playing with her mane.
Button raised his eyebrows, intrigued. He glanced down at her body, and back up to meet her gaze.
“Oh?”
Scootaloo, meanwhile, seemed baffled.
“What?” she said.
Button raised his hooves up, helplessly.
“I’m all yours,” Button smirked.
“Not like that you fucking freak!” Scootaloo snapped.
“Of course, not like that,” Button said, “Uh, OK, listen-”
“No, Button, you listen. Sweetie’s in love with you,” Scootaloo said.
“OK, Sweetie’s in love with me. What do you want from me?” Button demanded.
“I just want you to right your wrongs,” Scootaloo said.
“Just say what you mean!” Button said, aggressively, “What do you want from me?”
“I want you to write Sweetie and tell her that you love her!” Scootaloo chirped.
“Nah I’m good,” Button said.
Scootaloo laughed, and sighed, heavily.
“OK,” she said, before taking out a quill, ink, and writing tablet that had all been laying on the bedside nightstand.
“...What are you doing?”
“Oh nothing, I’m just gonna send a picture of you out to everypony in town, attached to a note - This guy ran over my dog and fled the scene.”
“....OK,” Button said, laughing.
“So…You’ll probably never get laid again in this town,” Scootaloo said.
“Oh no, I get laid all the time!” Button said, waving his hooves in the air, dramatically, “...I never get laid. This is not a concern for me.”
“Oh, that’s so cute, I just remembered I know your grandma’s address!”
Button suddenly turned pale.
“Gram Gram?”
“Yeah, Gram Gram,” Scootaloo said.
“OK, OK, OK,” Button said, surrendering.
“Gosh, how is Gram Gram gonna feel when she finds out her grandson is a dog murderer?” Scootaloo wondered.
“Stop! OK! Stop!” Button said, “Put that away.”
“Oh this?” Scootaloo said, dangling the tablet in the air.
“Yes, put that away.”
“Aw. You want me to put that away?”
“Yes! P-Put it away, and, and leave my family out of this. Because that….that will literally kill her,”
“Yeah, well, it’s so tough because I might have to,” Scootaloo shrugged, “If you’re not in love with Sweetie Belle.”
“OK, what is your angle here? Do you expect us to get married?” Button stuttered.
“If that’s what she wants,” Scootaloo roared.
Button laughed.
“That is ridiculous. I’m not marrying Sweetie Belle,” Button insisted.
“Bye bye Gram Gram,” she said, sticking the quill back against the tablet.
“No!” Button cried, “...Alright! For Luna’s sake! I’ll write Sweetie and tell her that I love her.”
She sighed in relief.
“Oh, good,” she smiled, handing the tablet and scroll and quill over to him.
Button glared at her with hatred, before proceeding to write out the note on the paper.
“Add a heart at the end,” she instructed.
“I’m not adding a heart.”
“Add a heart,” she commanded, “....And erase the eggplant.”
“The eggplant makes it funny,” Button said, defensively.
“Hearts! Add more hearts!” she yelled.
She waited patiently for Button to finish, and once he had she gave a little squeal of delight.
“Good, now, sign it, good, now give that to me, I’m gonna give it to her,” she said.
Button grumbled something under his breath and handed everything over to her.
“There. That was easy, wasn’t it?” she grinned.
“Can you let me go now?”
“Of course, yes, I got what I wanted,” she smiled, “Sweetie is happy. Just…one last question…”
Button stared at her, exhausted. What could she possibly want now?
“What’s my name?” she asked.
Button raised an eyebrow, and the girl did the same.
“W-What’s that?” he asked.
“What’s my name?” she asked again, but slower.
Button laughed under his breath.
“What’s my name?” she asked a third time, bitterly.
“Listen….Boysenberry,” Button guessed.
The girl shook her head and waved him off, before climbing off the bed, taking the letter with her. Button continued battling with the hoofcuff, desperately fighting for a way to escape.
“No, wait,” Button said, realizing his mistake, as the girl trotted off out of the room, “Aura….Liza? Peach! No, no, Sunshine!”
