Chapter 3: On Patrol

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

The grand halls of Canterlot Castle were eerily quiet, the once bright and majestic corridors now shrouded in darkness. The flickering candlelight cast long shadows on the walls as Twilight Sparkle, Princess Celestia, Luna, and Cadance huddled together in the throne room. Their expressions were grim, etched with worry and exhaustion. Without their magic, the situation seemed almost impossible to navigate. The power of their horns, once so reliable, had been stripped away, leaving them vulnerable and uncertain.

Twilight sighed heavily, her mind racing with possibilities that seemed to lead nowhere. "We have to find a way to stop these invaders, but without our magic..." Her voice trailed off, the weight of the situation pressing down on her.

Princess Celestia, always the beacon of hope, looked at her former student with a gentle, yet firm expression. "Twilight, we've faced countless challenges before. Magic may have been our strongest asset, but our character, our resilience—that's what will guide us now."

Luna nodded in agreement, her eyes narrowing with determination. "The invaders may have taken our magic, but they haven't taken our will. We must use everything we have—our wits, our courage—to protect Equestria."

Cadance placed a comforting hoof on Twilight's shoulder. "We will get through this, together."

Meanwhile, high above the castle, Rainbow Dash was on patrol. The sky was clear with the sun shining bright, but Rainbow was on high alert. Her sharp eyes scanned the horizon, searching for any sign of danger. Just when she thought it was all clear, something caught her attention—a ripple forming in the sky. Her heart raced as she quickly ducked behind a cloud, watching intently.

From the ripple, the lights—those ominous orbs—began to emerge, slowly descending toward the ground. Rainbow's breath caught in her throat. So that's where they're coming from. She knew she had to report this to Twilight and the princesses immediately.

As she sped toward Canterlot, she nearly collided with one of the orbs. With lightning-fast reflexes, she veered off course, narrowly avoiding it. Her heart pounded in her chest as she pushed herself to move faster, determined to deliver her message in time.

On the ground, Fluttershy crouched behind a building, her eyes darting nervously around the deserted streets. Every sound made her jump, but she forced herself to stay vigilant. Her heart lifted slightly when she spotted a familiar figure hopping toward her—Angel Bunny. Relief washed over her as she whispered his name, stepping out from her hiding place.

But her relief was short-lived. In a blink of an eye, the invisible invader struck, disintegrating Angel Bunny before Fluttershy's horrified gaze. The world seemed to slow down as she watched her beloved pet vanish into nothingness. A silent scream lodged in her throat as tears welled up in her eyes.

Back in the safety of the Carousel Boutique's basement, Rarity tried to maintain an air of calm as she instructed Apple Bloom, Pinkie Pie, and Scootaloo on survival tactics. "We must remain composed, darlings. Panic will only make things worse. Remember, the key is to stay hidden and stay together." Her voice was steady, but the fear in her eyes betrayed her true feelings. The three ponies nodded, absorbing every word. They knew their lives depended on it.

Moments later, a siren echoed through Canterlot—a signal they all knew well. Twilight's magic, though weakened, still had enough strength to cast a wide-spread teleportation spell, gathering the scattered survivors. In an instant, Fluttershy, Rarity, Apple Bloom, Pinkie Pie, and Scootaloo found themselves in the throne room of Canterlot Castle, disoriented but relieved to be together again.

Rainbow Dash was the first to speak, her voice urgent. "I saw them, Twilight. The lights, the orbs—they're coming from a ripple in the sky. That's how they're getting in."

Twilight nodded, her mind already racing with plans. "Thank you, Rainbow. Now we know where they’re coming from. But we’ll have to wait until nightfall to act. The invaders strike when there's light. We'll use the darkness to our advantage."

The group exchanged determined glances, knowing that the battle ahead would be their toughest yet. They had no magic, no electricity, but they had each other—and that, they hoped, would be enough to save Ponyville.

To be continued...
