//-------------------------------------------------------// The Friendship of Harmony -by LilRedKitty_1505- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue The empty darkness enveloped you as you walked slowly, passing red, shining crystal walls that seemed to close in around you. Shadows danced along the walls, and the air felt thick with an almost tangible tension. You couldn't shake the feeling that you were not alone. A figure emerged from the shadows—a being of dark elegance. Her skin was as black as the void, and her green eyes, like diamonds, pierced through the darkness. Long cherry-red hair cascaded into a ponytail with her fluffy pony ears on the top of her head, and her large, feathered wings and flowing red dress added to her formidable presence. Her gaze piercing as it settled on you, and there was something unnerving about the way she looked at you, as if she could see straight into your soul. "You..." her voice cut through the silence, cold and sharp. "What are you doing here? And how did you end up here?" "How... how do you know me?" you stammered, your voice betraying your nervousness. Her eyes narrowed slightly before a chilling chuckle escaped her lips. "How do I know you?" she repeated, her smile cold and calculating. "Oh, I know everything about you—every detail," her smile faded, replaced by a steely gaze. "But honestly, I couldn’t care less. What matters is—what are you doing here?" A moment passed before you swallowed hard. "I... I was looking for you." "You were looking for me? How intriguing," her interest seemed piqued, though her tone remained guarded. "But why, I wonder... Why would someone like you seek out someone like me?" You hesitated, feeling the weight of her gaze. "I wanted to hear your stories." Silence hung in the air for a moment before she laughed softly, though there was no warmth in the sound. "You wish to hear my stories? How quaint." Her eyes glinted as she studied you, her expression contemplative. "Very well. If you truly want to hear it, I’ll indulge you," she leaned closer, her voice dropping to a whisper. "But be warned, it’s no simple tale: it's filled with full of lies and... betrayal. Where do I begin...?" She paused, her expression distant as if lost in thought. Then her gaze sharpened, a slow, unsettling smile spreading across her face. "Ah, yes. The Graduation—where the show began. Or rather, where it had begun long before that." Her chuckle echoed ominously, as if the very walls were listening. "But beware, human... Once you’ve heard it, there’s no turning back. You’ll be as bound to it as I am." //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: A New Power //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: A New Power The cafeteria of Canterlot High School was alive with the usual lunchtime buzz. Students were eagerly discussing their plans for graduation, which was just around the corner. Amid the clatter of trays and the hum of conversation, one table stood out—where the Rainbooms, Canterlot High’s most famous group of friends, were seated. Rainbow Dash leaned back in her chair, a confident grin spreading across her face. "Ah, yeah! Tomorrow is finally graduation!" she exclaimed. Pinkie Pie, never one to sit still for long, bounced in her seat. "Today was such a fun day!" she declared, her smile as bright as ever. Applejack, sitting across from her, chuckled and shook her head, her hat tipped slightly back. "Every day’s a fun day fur you, Pinkie," she remarked. "Well, duh!" Pinkie giggled, her eyes sparkling with joy. "But today we helped our school get ready for tomorrow's graduation ceremony. It was like a super-duper decorating party!" Her smile widened as she thought about the decorations and preparations they'd worked on. As the girls chatted, Twilight Sparkle pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose, her brow furrowed in thought. "Speaking of that, did anyone see Sunset this morning? She wasn’t with us during the preparations." Rarity dabbed at her lips with a napkin before replying, her tone thoughtful. "Well, darling, I did see her today, of course. But..." she hesitated, choosing her words carefully, "she was acting quite..." Fluttershy, who had been quietly nibbling on a salad, looked up, her soft voice barely audible over the cafeteria noise. "Um, strange?" she offered. Rarity nodded, clearing her throat before she spoke again. "Yes, that’s exactly what I was going to say. You saw her too, Fluttershy?" she asked. Fluttershy nodded slowly, her voice barely above a whisper. "Yes, and... the way she was moving around, it seemed like she was afraid of something—or someone. And she was wearing gloves. I wonder why." "Gloves?" Rainbow’s eyes narrowed in confusion. "But why would she do that?" Rarity tapped her chin thoughtfully, her expression turning more serious. "I thought the same thing. It’s not like her to wear something so out of place. And she didn’t seem herself at all." Twilight's concern deepened, her analytical mind racing. *Why would Sunset hide something from us?* she thought. She stood up as she spoke. "We need to talk to her about this. Let's find her, girls." The group quickly agreed, quickly finished their meals, their earlier excitement tempered by growing worry. They gathered their things and left the cafeteria, determined to find their friend. The hallways of Canterlot High were quieter now, with most students either in the cafeteria or outside enjoying the spring weather. The Rainbooms moved swiftly through the corridors, their eyes scanning for any sign of Sunset Shimmer. Applejack glanced around, searching for any sign of their friend. "Do y’all see her anywhere?" she asked. Rainbow Dash shook her head, her eyes scanning every corner. "Not yet." Rarity checked her phone again, letting out an exasperated sigh. "She’s not answering emails or calls. This is so unlike her." Fluttershy bit her lip, her voice trembled slightly. "Maybe... m-maybe something happened to her...?" Twilight Sparkle tried to maintain a rational perspective, though worry gnawed at her. "If something had happened, she would have told us. But we need to find her, and fast." Her logical mind struggled to find a reason for Sunset's behavior, but nothing seemed to fit. "But where could she be?" Applejack muttered, glancing down another empty corridor. Pinkie Pie suddenly perked up, an idea striking her. "Hmm, if only we could find her by phone search..." Twilight’s eyes lit up. "Phone search, of course! Pinkie, you’re a genius!" she exclaimed. Pinkie giggled, giving a playful salute. "Anytime!" Twilight quickly pulled out her phone, her fingers flying over the screen. "Alright, let me see... Ah, there she is! She’s... in the bathroom?" Rainbow raised an eyebrow. "In the bathroom? Then come on, let’s move. We don’t have all day." She was already halfway down the hall before the others could react. The group hurried down the hallway, their footsteps echoing in the empty space. As they approached the bathroom, Twilight slowed down, checking her phone again to be sure. "We’re almost there. The signal’s coming from this direction." They reached the bathroom door, and Twilight hesitated, her hand hovering over the handle. "She’s in here, but... why would she be in the bathroom? And why isn’t she responding?" Rainbow stepped forward, her usual impatience showing. "I’m going in." "Wait, Rainbow!" Twilight quickly grabbed her arm, stopping her in her tracks. "Let’s be careful. We don’t know what’s going on with her." Rainbow hesitated, her jaw clenched as she considered Twilight’s words. Finally, she nodded, her voice softer but still resolute. "Fine, but we need to make sure she’s alright." "Maybe she’s just having a pre-graduation meltdown," Pinkie Pie suggested, trying to lighten the mood. "We all know how stressful this time can be!" Her voice was light, but the worry in her eyes was clear. Applejack’s expression remained serious. "Yeah, but it ain’t like her to shut us out like this. If she’s in trouble, we need to help her." Rarity shivered slightly, a sense of unease creeping into her voice. "I have a weird feeling about this..." "I-I just hope she’s okay," Fluttershy whispered, her voice trembling slightly. Pinkie Pie placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Oh, don't worry too much, Fluttershy. We just need to make sure Sunset is alright. After that, we can back home and be ready for tomorrow!" The door creaked open as the girls entered the bathroom, the tiles cold underfoot and the fluorescent lights casting a stark glow. The room was eerily silent, amplifying the tension among them. "Sunset?" Twilight Sparkle called out, her voice gentle but tinged with worry. Rarity stepped forward, her heels clicking softly against the floor. "Are you here? It’s us—your friends." Pinkie Pie, unable to contain herself, began playfully checking each stall door. "Hey, Sunny, come out, come out, wherever you are~" She paused when one of the doors was locked. "Ah-ha, she's definitely in there!" Rainbow Dash moved closer, knocking on the door firmly. "Sunset, if you’re in there, please come out. We’re really worried about you." There was a long, heavy silence from the other side of the door. Pinkie Pie, ever curious, peeked over the top of the locked stall. Her eyes widened as she spotted Sunset Shimmer sitting on the toilet, her back pressed against the wall, knees drawn up to her chest. Sunset clutched her journal tightly, the one she used to communicate with Princess Twilight, and her hands were covered with those mysterious gloves. Pinkie's voice broke the silence. "Now look what we’ve found here! Are you playing hide-and-seek, huh? If so, I'm in!" Rainbow Dash, standing just outside the stall, felt her worry deepen. "Sunset, what’s going on? Why are you hiding in here? We’ve been trying to reach you all day!" Twilight stepped closer to the stall, her heart pounding in her chest. "Sunset, you’re scaring us. We saw you acting weird earlier, and you didn’t respond to any of us. What’s really happening?" Sunset slowly looked up at Pinkie Pie, her eyes filled with a mix of fear and guilt. "I… I’m sorry, guys. I didn’t mean to shut you all out. It’s just… graduation nerves and all," she tried to chuckle, but the sound was hollow and unconvincing. Applejack crossed her arms. "Sunset, don’t lie to us. We can see plain as day that somethin’s wrong. Please, just tell us what’s goin’ on." Rarity stepped forward. "Darling, we’re your friends. We want to help." Pinkie nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah! Sometimes talking things through makes them seem less scary, you know?" Fluttershy nodded, her voice gentle. "Whatever it is, we’re here for you, Sunset. You don’t have to go through this alone." Sunset sighed, her shoulders slumping. "Okay... It started last night. I’ve been... having these strange dreams. And I’ve been getting headaches. Sometimes I see things, hear things that I don’t fully understand. It’s... complicated," she paused for a moment before continuing. "And there’s this strange power that I can’t control. It’s been growing, and I’m afraid of what might happen if I don’t learn how to use it. I thought maybe if I stayed away from everyone, it would be safer... for you all." Rainbow's eyes widened in surprise. "A strange power? You should have told us! We could have helped you figure it out!" Sunset looked down at her gloved hands. "I know. I’m sorry. I just... didn’t want to worry you, especially because I didn’t want you girls to get hurt because of me." A heavy silence settled over the group, the weight of Sunset’s words sinking in. Twilight was the first to break the silence, her voice gentle but firm. "Would you... show it to us?" Sunset hesitated, her heart pounding in her chest. "I... I’m not sure. What if this new power is too dangerous? What if I can’t control it?" "Sunset, please. We need to know how we can help you," Rarity said. Sunset took a deep breath before she stood up from the toilet. "Okay, but... you have to promise me you won’t freak out. This is big. I don’t want anyone to think I’m... crazy or something." Applejack stepped forward, her voice warm and steady. "We promise, sugarcube." With that, Sunset slowly unlocked the stall door and stepped out, the click of the lock echoing loudly in the silent bathroom. Her hands trembled as she carefully removed one of her gloves, revealing her bare hand. She held it out in front of her, her brow furrowing in concentration as she focused on the unfamiliar energy inside her. For a moment, nothing happened. Then, almost imperceptibly, a soft blue glow began to emanate from her palm. The light intensified, and in the center of her hand, a small, blue crystal started to form. It shimmered in the air, spinning slowly as it grew larger and more defined. The girls watched both in awe and interest by their friend's new power. But instead of staying contained, the crystal suddenly expanded, growing larger and larger until it created a barrier between Sunset and her friends. The girls gasped, stepping back in surprise as the unexpected barrier formed. Sunset’s eyes widened in panic as she saw what she’d done. *Oh no, not again!* She quickly pulling her glove back on. "S-Sorry, sorry! I-I didn’t mean to—I just don't know how to control it! This is new to me!" She took a step back from her friends as she kneeling down on the ground, her gloved hands still trembling. Rainbow stared at the remnants of the barrier, her eyes wide with amazement. "Whoa, that was... awesome! But definitely surprising." Twilight adjusted her glasses. "So... this is your new power?" she asked. Sunset nodded slowly. "Yeah... But I was wondering, have any of you girls noticed anything new with your powers?" The group exchanged glances before Applejack spoke up. "Well... not yet, I guess. But we still have our magical geodes with us, right, girls?" the others nodded in agreement, their hands instinctively touching the geodes around their necks. Applejack continued, "I think you’re the only one, sugarcube." "I suppose so..." Sunset said with a sigh. Pinkie beamed at her. "Well, I think it’s cool! And who knows, maybe you’ll even create something huge at our graduation? Like a giant cake!" All eyes turned to Pinkie, who blinked back at them innocently. "What?" she asked, completely unaware of the seriousness of the moment. Sunset managed a soft chuckle. "Thanks, Pinkie. I needed that," she paused, her expression growing more somber. "I really appreciate you all being here. I’ll try my best to get used to this power... whatever it is." "Have you tried asking Princess Twilight about it?" Rarity asked. Sunset Shimmer nodded. "I did, but she hasn’t replied yet. After all, she’s more busy ruling Equestria now," she stood up from the ground, feeling the weight of exhaustion settling in. "I’d better head home, if you don’t mind. I’m... feeling tired after all this. I’m sure tomorrow will be better." Applejack gave her a reassuring nod. "Of course, take all the time you need." Rainbow Dash shrugged, already looking ahead. "I guess we’ll just pick things up tomorrow." Fluttershy’s eyes softened with concern. "But... if anything bothers you, just let us know, okay?" Sunset smiled gratefully at her friends. "Sure. I will, girls." The group began to file out of the bathroom, each offering a final word of support. Just as they were about to leave, Twilight paused, turning back with a serious expression. "Just please, be careful." Sunset met her gaze and nodded reassuringly. "I will, Twi. I will. I promise." Pinkie Pie waved enthusiastically as they exited. "See ya tomorrow, Sunny!" Sunset Shimmer waved back, her smile fading slightly as the door closed behind her friends. Left alone in the bathroom, she sighed deeply, allowing the weight of the day to settle on her shoulders. She took her journal and open it, but still no response from Princess Twilight. She sighed sadly, yet she knew that she's too busy on her duties as a new ruler of Equestria. *Looks like I'll have to figure it out on my own this time, I guess,* she thought. *But she told me she's free in the evenings, so... maybe I just need to wait until the evening.* Then she put the journal back in her backpack, and as she was about to leave, a sudden, sharp pain pierced her temples. She gasped, clutching her head as another headache took hold. Tears welled up through her cheeks, but they weren't ordinary tears, they were black as if her own eyes were turning black. *Not again...* she thought, covering one of her eyes with her hand by the pain. The world around her blurred, and in its place, a vision began to form. Sunset found herself standing in a desolate, shadowy landscape. Before her, two figures were crumpled on the ground. One was kneeling, their body hunched over another figure lying lifeless in their arms. The kneeling figure’s voice, unmistakably a woman’s, echoed in her mind. "How could you...? HOW COULD YOU?! FOR WHAT?!" the woman’s voice echoed, trembled with grief and anger as she cried out so deep it sent chills down Sunset’s spine. As quickly as it began, the vision faded, leaving Sunset Shimmer alone in the bathroom, her breath coming in ragged gasps. The pain slowly faded away, along with the black tears. Sunset leaned heavily against the sink, her mind racing with confusion and fear. *W-What was... that?* she thought, her heart pounding in her chest. *Who were those people? What happened to them?* Sunset stared at her reflection in the mirror, her face pale and her eyes wide with the weight of the vision, noticing that those tears had faded. She couldn’t shake the feeling that what she had just witnessed was more than just a random hallucination—it felt like a glimpse into something terrible and tragic. But what could it mean? And why was she the one seeing it? She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing thoughts. *I need to figure this out*, she resolved, her determination slowly building. *But first, I need to get some rest.* With that, Sunset Shimmer took her backpack and put it on her back as she left the bathroom. Her mind still haunted by the vision, and going her way home, hoping that tomorrow would bring clarity—or at the very least, a reprieve from the strange and terrifying images that now plagued her mind. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: The Haunting Visions //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: The Haunting Visions The sun was setting over Canterlot City, casting long shadows across the streets as Sunset Shimmer walked home. But peace eluded her—those haunting visions wouldn’t leave her alone. Her pace slowed, a sharp pain suddenly stabbing through her skull as another headache took hold. Voices echoed in her mind, growing louder until she could no longer distinguish reality from illusion. She winced, bringing a hand to her forehead, but it did little to stop the onslaught. This time, the world around her seemed to darken, and a chilling presence emerged from the shadows. The air around her seemed to thicken, making it hard to breathe. The figure came closer, stopping just a few feet away. Sunset felt a chill run down her spine as the figure’s cold voice pierced the silence. "You care about others, but what about me? You ignored me, refused to listen to my wishes," the figure said, her tone dripping with resentment. "I think I have no other choice." Sunset tried to speak, to defend herself, but her voice caught in her throat. Before she could react, the figure reached out and a polearm materialized in her hand. In one swift motion, it drove the weapon into her chest. Sunset gasped, feeling the sharp, searing pain as if it were real. Her vision blurred, and she collapsed onto the cold pavement, her body trembling as darkness claimed her. As her consciousness faded, she heard the figure's final words. "I hope you'll remember this lesson,_____ ______," the voice trailed off as the figure disappeared into the darkness. Sunset’s world turned black, but another voice lingered, the one she heard earlier in the bathroom, echoing in the emptiness of her mind. "NO! P-Please don’t leave me... Please... I’m begging you... No..." Darkness consumed her, but she wasn’t alone. A gentler figure emerged from the void—this one, bathed in a soft, warm light. The figure reached out a hand towards her, her eyes filled with sorrow. "Sunset Shimmer," the figure whispered. Sunset woke with a start, gasping for breath as a tear slipped down her cheek. Disoriented, she found herself lying on a couch in a place she recognized—Flash Sentry’s house. Her heart raced, but she tried to calm herself, wiping away the tear before Flash noticed. Flash was sitting nearby, his eyes filled with concern as he noticed her waking up. "Sunset! You’re awake. How are you feeling?" he asked gently. Sunset managed a weak smile, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes. "I’m okay, just... a bit disoriented," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. Flash let out a sigh of relief, his expression softening. "Thank goodness. I found you unconscious in the middle of the city. You looked so pale—I thought you needed help. What happened?" Sunset sat up slowly, still feeling the residual effects of the vision. She looked down at herself, half-expecting to find a wound where the polearm had struck, but there was nothing—no blood, no injury, just the memory of pain that still lingered. "I... I’m not sure," Sunset murmured, her voice trembling. "It felt so real, but..." She couldn’t find the words to explain what had happened. The experience was too vivid, too terrifying, to dismiss as just a dream or hallucination. Flash frowned, concern etched in his features, but he didn’t press her for more details. Instead, he placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "It’s okay, Sunset. You don’t have to explain right now. Just take it easy. I’m here if you need anything." Sunset offered him a grateful smile, but her mind was still a whirlwind of confusion and fear. She knew that what she’d seen wasn’t just a figment of her imagination—there was something more to it, something dark and foreboding. The figure in her vision had a connection to her, one she couldn’t ignore. As she tried to stand, Flash looked up at her, his worry deepening as he moved to help her. "Sunset? Where are you going? Are you alright?" he asked. But before Sunset could answer, a familiar sharp pain shot through her head. The room began to spin, and she barely registered Flash’s worried voice calling out to her as the voices returned, echoing in her mind. "It will all be over soon... I’ll come back!" Sunset staggered, nearly collapsing again, but Flash caught her just in time. She turned to look at him, and for a moment, his familiar face seemed to twist and distort. His eyes, normally warm and kind, now glowed with a strange, cold light, and his voice took on an eerie, hollow tone. "I’ll come back to you," he said with a soft, chilling laugh. Sunset screamed, jolting awake once more. Her breath came in ragged gasps, her body trembling with fear. She was back in Flash Sentry’s living room, just as before, but the terror from the vision lingered. Once again, Flash was beside her, his expression mirroring the concern he’d shown earlier. "Sunset! You’re awake. How are you feeling—" "P-Please help me get home," Sunset interrupted him, her voice shaking as she jumped off the couch, moving quickly toward the door. Flash blinked in confusion, quickly following after her and catching her arm gently. "Sunset, wait! What’s wrong? What happened?" "Please, Flash... I need to go home. It’s important," she pleaded, her voice desperate. "I’ll explain on the way, but please, I need to get out of here." Flash looked at her, searching her eyes for answers, but all he found was fear. He sighed, nodding slowly. "Alright. I’ll take you home." They stepped outside into the cool evening air and made their way to Flash’s car. Sunset climbed into the passenger seat while Flash slid behind the wheel. The engine roared to life, and they pulled away from the house, heading towards Sunset’s apartment. The car was silent except for the hum of the engine. Flash Sentry finally spoke, his voice careful and steady as he kept his eyes on the road. "So, what’s going on?" Sunset Shimmer hesitated, her hands trembling slightly as she clasped them in her lap. She stared out the window, watching the city lights blur past, trying to find the right words to explain what had happened. "I... I keep seeing things, Flash. Horrible things. It’s like these visions are trying to tell me something, but I don’t know what it is. And they feel so real, like I’m actually living them." Flash glanced at her with a mix of concern and curiosity. "Visions? Like dreams?" Sunset shook her head, her hands trembling in her lap. "No, not dreams. They're more like... memories, but they’re not mine. It’s like I’m reliving someone else’s pain. And tonight, I thought I... I thought I was going to die. It felt so real, Flash. I could feel the pain, the cold steel—everything." Flash's grip tightened on the steering wheel. "But when I found you, there wasn’t a mark on you. It was like you were just... asleep. But you were so pale, Sunset. I was scared." "I was scared too," Sunset admitted, her voice shaking. "I don’t know what’s happening to me, but it’s getting stronger. And that figure... she’s angry with me, Flash. I can feel it. And it's... terrifying." Flash’s eyes widened slightly, but he tried to remain calm for her sake. "Have you talked to anyone else about this? The others might be able to help." Sunset sighed, leaning her head back against the seat. "I did, but... I don’t want to worry them. I need to figure out what’s going on first." Flash nodded slowly, though he didn’t look entirely convinced. "Okay, but you know they’d want to help you. We all would." Sunset managed a small smile, appreciating his concern. "I know, Flash. And I’m glad you’re here with me. I just need some time to think." They continued driving in silence, the weight of Sunset’s words lingering between them. Flash knew something was seriously wrong, but he didn’t want to push her. And yet, he couldn't help but glance at Sunset's gloves. "Sunset—" "I know," Sunset interrupted him, her gaze looked back at her gloves. "Just a new power, and... when I got it, all these things got started." Flash nodded slowly. "I see." With that, they finally arrived at Sunset’s apartment, Flash turned off the engine but didn’t move to get out of the car. He looked at Sunset, who was staring down at her gloved hands, lost in thought. "Sunset, if you need anything, anything at all, I’m just a call away," Flash said, his voice full of earnest concern. Sunset nodded, her eyes meeting his. "Thank you, Flash. I really appreciate it." Flash offered a small smile before they both got out of the car. He walked her to her door, ensuring she was safely inside before he reluctantly left. Sunset watched him drive away, then closed the door behind her. Alone in her apartment, Sunset tried to shake off the lingering unease from her visions. She paced around the room, her mind racing with thoughts of the figure she’d seen—the woman who had attacked her in the vision. "Who are you?" Sunset whispered to herself, her voice trembling. "What do you want from me?" She paused by the window, staring out into the dark night. The city was quiet, but the silence only amplified the dread she felt. As it grew late, she decided to get ready for bed. "I should better get ready for tomorrow," she whispered. "Maybe Princess Twilight will reply soon." With that, she headed to her closet, changing into pajamas, preparing for bed and hoping her friend from Equestria could provide the guidance she desperately needed.
