Ambush at Canterlot High
Chapter 5: Day Four (The Hallways)
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe next day, the Ambush game moved to the hallways, transforming them into a maze of uncertainty. Lyra, the mastermind behind the game, had added a twist to this challenge. Players would now have to choose between two doors. One door offered freedom, while the other, a perilous fate. To make matters even more unpredictable, the outcome behind each door changed randomly for every player. The number of doors also increases per player.
The players stood at the start of the hallway; the tension thick in the air as they stared at the two identical doors before them.
"Alright, everyone, listen up!" Lyra announced, her voice echoing through the hallway. "Behind one of these doors lies your freedom. Behind the other... well, let's just say you'll want to duck. Choose wisely, because what was safe for one of you might not be for the next."
Rainbow Dash, ever the confident one, stepped forward. "Piece of cake. I’ll go first." She scanned the two doors and, after a moment of deliberation, chose door #1. With a deep breath, she opened it and stepped through.
Suddenly, she found herself sliding down a smooth, fast slide. The walls of the tunnel whizzed past her, and in the blink of an eye, she landed gracefully in a room decorated with balloons, streamers, and confetti. There was a table full of cakes and a stack of board games piled high. All the eliminated players are in there as well (they have their headbands removed to let everyone know that they're out)!
She is in one half of the room called the winners' area and the other half is where the eliminated players reside: It's called the losers' area.
"Welcome to the freedom room!" Pinkie Pie cheered, popping out from behind the table. "You made it, Dashie!"
"Ha! Knew I’d get it right!" Rainbow Dash smirked, pumping her hand in the air. "Who's next?"
Back in the hallway, there are three doors now! Rarity approached the doors with a dramatic sigh. "I suppose it’s my turn. Door #1 worked for Rainbow Dash, so I’ll give it a try as well."
With a flick of her hair, she opened door #1 and stepped inside. Suddenly, the walls around her opened up, revealing dozens of tiny cannons.
"What in the world—" Rarity began, but her words were cut short as the cannons fired a barrage of quail eggs at her. "Ahhh! My hair! My dress!" she cried, ducking and dodging the eggs as best she could. When it finally stopped, she stood there, a mess of yolks and shells, her normally pristine appearance in tatters.
"Oh, this is simply dreadful!" she wailed, stumbling out of the room.
Trixie Lulamoon, trying to suppress a smirk at Rarity's misfortune, decided to try her luck. There are four doors in front of her. "The Great and Powerful Trixie shall choose door #2!"
She flung the door open with a dramatic flourish and stepped inside, expecting something grand. Instead, she was met with a sudden splat as ricotta cheese was flung at her from every direction.
"Cheese? Really?" Trixie sputtered, wiping the mess from her face. "This is not befitting of the Great and Powerful Trixie!"
Next up was Tennis Match, who approached the five doors cautiously. "Okay, I think I’ll try door #2.
She opened the door and was immediately sucked into a futuristic travel tube (Futurama-esque). The tube zipped her through twists and turns before gently depositing her into the freedom room.
"Woohoo! I made it!" she cheered, joining Rainbow Dash in the winners' area. It's just as Pinkie Pie and the other players were cheering from the losers' area.
Finally, Principal Celestia, with her calm demeanor, walked up to the six doors in front of her. "Well, here goes nothing," she said with a slight smile and opened door #6.
As soon as she stepped through, a catapult appeared under her feet. Before she could react, it launched her through a tunnel, sending her soaring through the air. She landed gracefully in the winners' area of the freedom room, much to the applause of the others.
"That was quite the ride!" Celestia laughed, brushing some dust off her clothes.
Pinkie Pie bounced over with a grin. "Congrats, everyone! You made it through! Well, most of you."
Rarity and Trixie finally stumbled into the losers' area of the freedom room, both looking worse for wear and their headbands removed. Rarity let out a dramatic sigh, "I don’t think I’ll ever look at quail eggs the same way again."
Trixie, still wiping cheese from her hat, muttered, "Trixie demands a redo!"
Rainbow Dash couldn’t help but chuckle. "Well, at least you survived! Next time, maybe pick the right door!"
"Next time," Rarity replied with a huff, "I’ll be sure to bring an umbrella."
To be continued...
