//-------------------------------------------------------// Ambush at Canterlot High -by ShopperBrony90- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: The Rules of the Game //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: The Rules of the Game It was a typical day at Canterlot High School. The hallways bustled with students heading to their next classes, teachers gave their lectures, and the usual hum of school life filled the air. In the classrooms, students focused on their lessons, unaware of the surprise that awaited them. Suddenly, the TVs in every classroom flickered to life, interrupting the day’s routine. Confused murmurs spread through the rooms as students and teachers alike turned their attention to the screens. On the monitor, Lyra Heartstrings appeared, a confident smile on her face. "Attention, Canterlot High!" Lyra announced, her voice carrying a hint of mischief. "The game of Ambush is upon us once again!" Gasps and excited whispers erupted across the classrooms. Everyone knew what this meant. As last semester's winner, Lyra had the power to set the rules, and she was about to reveal them. "As the reigning champion," Lyra continued, "I’ve decided on a few changes this time around. Each of you will be assigned a target—someone you need to eliminate from the game. Remember, only one of you can win, so trust no one! You’ll have to be smart, quick, and most of all, ruthless." The screen went dark, leaving the students in stunned silence. The atmosphere in the school shifted instantly, as everyone realized that the game had begun. After class, Sci-Twi and the Rainbooms gathered in their usual spot in the courtyard, their faces serious as they discussed what they’d just heard. “We need to figure out a plan,” Sunset Shimmer said, her mind already racing with strategies. “If we stick together, we might have a better chance.” Rainbow Dash, always ready for a challenge, smirked. “I’ve got this in the bag. With my super speed, no one can touch me!” Before anyone could respond, the TVs across the school blinked on again. Lyra’s voice echoed through the halls, “One more thing—no magic is allowed in this game! Unless, of course, it’s in the form of a magic weapon. Pinkie Pie, that means your sugar bomb powers are fair game. The rest of you? Better start thinking outside the box!” Rainbow groaned, slumping back in her chair. “Great. There goes my ace in the hole.” The others exchanged glances, considering what Lyra had just said. “Well,” Rarity began, “If I win, I think I’d make the game more about elegance and style. Maybe a fashion twist?” “I’d make it all about animals!” Fluttershy chimed in softly. “Only the kindest players would win.” One by one, they each shared their thoughts on how they would change the game if they won, but the looming threat of the current game kept them all on edge. Meanwhile, in another part of the school, the freshmen were huddled together, prepping themselves for what was to come. Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, Diamond Tiara, and Silver Spoon knew that sticking together might be their only hope. “We can’t let them pick us off one by one,” Apple Bloom whispered urgently. “We’ve got to stay sharp and watch each other’s backs.” Not far away, Trixie and a group of other students were chatting, their voices a mix of excitement and nervousness. The tension in the air was palpable, everyone knowing that the game could start at any moment. The halls of Canterlot High were no longer filled with the usual laughter and chatter. Instead, they buzzed with anticipation and suspicion. The game was on, and there could only be one winner. The scene shifts to an empty classroom at Canterlot High School, where students gather with a mix of excitement and curiosity. The room buzzes with quiet chatter until Lyra Heartstrings steps to the front, silencing the crowd with a raised hand. “Alright, everyone, listen up,” Lyra begins, holding a small, shiny medallion between her fingers. “These are your medallions. The rules are simple: when any of you get hit, your medallion will flash, and you’ll be out of the game.” A murmur of interest runs through the group as each student examines their medallion. Most of them quickly tuck the medallions under their shirts, as instructed by Lyra, ensuring they’re securely hidden from sight. Lyra continues, “The projectiles will change at my command. They’ll go through the list in alphabetical order—from A to Z. So, you’ll need to be on your toes.” With a sly smile, she hands out folders to each participant. The students eagerly flip them open, revealing a single name inside— their target. “Remember,” Lyra warns, her tone serious, “You cannot reveal your target to anyone. This is crucial. The key to winning is secrecy and strategy.” The students nod in understanding, the air around them thick with anticipation. The game is about to begin, and no one knows who’s hunting whom. The thrill of the unknown and the challenge ahead makes every heart race just a little faster. To be continued... //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Day One (The Gymnasium / Courtyard) //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Day One (The Gymnasium / Courtyard) The sun rose on a crisp morning, casting a warm glow over Canterlot High. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement, the energy palpable as students filed in. They were greeted by an unusual sight: their lockers were adorned with headbands—red and blue, neatly folded, and waiting to be claimed. The school's grand game had officially begun. In the hallways, students exchanged eager looks, whispered strategies, and checked their headbands. The competition was already heating up, even before the first bell rang. Sunset Shimmer, donning her red headband, spotted Rainbow Dash adjusting hers in front of the locker mirror. "Ready to take them down, Dash?" "Ready?" Rainbow smirked, snapping the headband into place. "I'm ready to win!" Pinkie Pie popped up between them, her headband askew, a grin plastered on her face. "This is gonna be SO much fun! I brought snacks for everyone—just in case!" Down the hall, Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna emerged from their offices, already geared up. Celestia's blue headband matched her calm demeanor, while Luna’s red headband made her look especially determined. "Remember," Celestia called out as students gathered, "This is a test of agility, strategy, and most importantly—fun!" Luna nodded, her gaze serious. "But don’t think that means we’ll be going easy on you." Red Team Sunset Shimmer Rainbow Dash Apple Bloom Pinkie Pie Flash Sentry Silver Spoon Sci-Twi Soarin' Snips Drama Letter Scott Green Vinyl Scratch Dinky Doo (Derpy) Vice Principal Luna Granny Smith (lunch lady) Blue Team Bon Bon Rarity Applejack Diamond Tiara Sweetie Belle Scootaloo Trixie Lulamoon Fluttershy Thunderbass Snails Sweet Leaf Octavia Melody Tennis Match Principal Celestia Cranky Doodle As the day progressed, students spread out across the school grounds, each team strategizing their first moves. The rules were simple: eliminate opposing team members using the provided projectiles. Once hit, you were out. But there was a catch—no one knew what the projectiles would be until they were announced. The intercom crackled, and Cranky Doodle's voice filled the school. "Attention students! The first round’s projectiles are... artichokes!" In an instant, chaos erupted. The Red and Blue teams darted across the campus, using lockers, benches, and even classroom doors for cover. Artichokes were hurled through the air, spinning like green, spiky grenades. Bon Bon was the first to be hit, an artichoke bouncing off her shoulder. She sighed dramatically, raising her arms in defeat. "I’m out!" she declared as she left the battlefield, joining Flash Sentry and Thunderbass, both taken out soon after by well-aimed throws from Soarin' and Drama Letter. With the first round over, the intercom buzzed again. "Next up," Luna announced with a mischievous tone, "butter sticks." The students stared at each other, puzzled, before laughter erupted. "Butter sticks? Really?" Applejack questioned, just before a stick of butter whizzed past her, courtesy of Trixie Lulamoon. The slippery projectiles added a new level of challenge. Applejack slipped on her butter stick and was swiftly taken out by a well-timed throw from Sweetie Belle. Meanwhile, Vinyl Scratch was caught off guard by Diamond Tiara, and Apple Bloom was eliminated by Sweet Leaf. With tensions high, the intercom buzzed one last time. Celestia's voice was clear. "The final projectile: chicken drumsticks." Scootaloo and Applejack exchanged glances. "It’s time to get serious," Scootaloo said, determination in her eyes. The drumsticks, heavier and more unwieldy, made this round intense. Snails was the first to go, taken out by a swift throw from Granny Smith. Octavia Melody managed to dodge several incoming drumsticks before being hit by Snips, who was then immediately eliminated by Rarity. Sci-Twi crouched behind a bench and was focused on the action, calculating angles, and planning her next move. But before she could act, Fluttershy surprised her with a gentle but accurate toss, sending her to the sidelines. It wasn't long until Sweetie Belle was taken out by her friend, Apple Bloom, and Cranky Doodle was taken out by Granny Smith! The final bell rang, signaling the end of the day's battles. Both teams gathered in the courtyard, sweaty and tired, but grinning from ear to ear. "Well, that was something," Soarin' laughed, high-fiving Rainbow Dash. Celestia and Luna approached the group, smiles on their faces. "You all did wonderfully," Celestia said, her voice full of pride. "But remember," Luna added with a smirk, "there’s still more to come." The students exchanged looks, a mix of anticipation and excitement in their eyes. This was only the beginning. The courtyard buzzed with excitement as Lyra Heartstrings stood before the two teams, a mischievous grin on her face. "Alright, everyone! Before we can move on to the next round, it's time for a side-challenge. And since the Blue Team is down a member, they'll be the ones competing. This is a relay race, but not just any relay race. We've added a few... obstacles." The Blue Team members exchanged uneasy glances, knowing that Lyra's "obstacles" were never simple. Still, they steeled themselves, ready to give it their all. "Let's introduce the teams!" Lyra continued, pointing to each group in turn. "On Team 1, we have Rarity, Trixie, Sweet Leaf, and Diamond Tiara. And on Team 2, it's Scootaloo, Tennis Match, Fluttershy, and Principal Celestia. The rules are simple: the last player to finish their leg of the race will face a penalty and be out of the game. One team is safe while 2 members of the other team are safe." With that, the first racers, Rarity and Scootaloo, took their positions at the starting line, eyeing the thick mud pit in front of them. "Ready... set... go!" Lyra shouted, and the race began. Rarity vs. Scootaloo Rarity hesitated for a fraction of a second as she stared at the mud, her pristine white outfit already stained from earlier challenges. But Scootaloo didn’t wait—she dove into the mud and began crawling with determination. “Oh, this is simply dreadful!” Rarity groaned as she finally lowered herself into the muck, trying to keep her face as clean as possible. “Why does it always have to be mud?” Scootaloo, on the other hand, was making quick progress. “Come on, Rarity! Don’t let the mud slow you down!” she called out, her competitive spirit blazing. Rarity struggled to catch up, but Scootaloo was already out of the mud pit, tagging Tennis Match for the next leg of the race. Rarity reached the end just seconds later, panting as she slapped Trixie’s hand. “Finally,” Rarity sighed, wiping mud from her face as best she could. “Trixie, it’s all up to you now!” Trixie Lulamoon vs. Tennis Match Trixie and Tennis Match bolted toward the next obstacle: a tangled web of elastic strings that snapped back if touched. Tennis Match darted in, using her agility to weave through the web. Trixie, not to be outdone, followed close behind, but with every misstep, the strings snapped at her, slowing her down. “The Great and Powerful Trixie will not be defeated by mere strings!” Trixie declared, though her progress was less than spectacular. Tennis Match grinned as she cleared the web and tagged Fluttershy, who looked pale as she eyed the next challenge. Trixie was right behind, finally breaking free and tagging Sweet Leaf. Sweet Leaf vs. Fluttershy Sweet Leaf and Fluttershy took off toward a dense forest, their path swarming with bees. The buzzing grew louder as they approached, and Fluttershy hesitated, her instinct to care for animals conflicting with the need to win. “Oh dear,” Fluttershy whispered, “I don’t want to disturb them…” Sweet Leaf, however, took a deep breath and dashed through the forest, swatting away the bees with her arms. “Sorry, bees, but I’ve got a race to win!” she muttered, pushing through. Fluttershy, despite her hesitation, summoned her courage and followed, carefully maneuvering around the bees without harming them. But Sweet Leaf was already through the forest, tagging Diamond Tiara for the final leg. Diamond Tiara vs. Principal Celestia The final obstacle loomed ahead: one of Micro Chips’ inventions, a mechanical beast that had gone rogue. Diamond Tiara and Principal Celestia approached cautiously, sizing up the malfunctioning contraption. “Great,” Diamond Tiara muttered. “As if this day couldn’t get any worse.” Celestia, however, remained calm. “We’ll need to outsmart it,” she said, her tone quiet and commanding. Diamond Tiara rolled her eyes. “Yeah, easy for you to say.” The two circled the machine, looking for an opening. Suddenly, the invention whirred to life, swinging its arms wildly. Celestia ducked under a swipe and dashed to the finish line, but Diamond Tiara wasn’t so lucky. The machine caught her off-guard, sending her stumbling back. “No!” Diamond Tiara cried, trying to regain her footing, but it was too late. Principal Celestia was already crossing the finish line, victorious. Lyra stepped forward, a sympathetic but firm look on her face. “Diamond Tiara, I’m sorry, but you’re out.” Diamond was suddenly ambushed with a barrage of dice thrown towards her. Diamond Tiara’s face twisted in anger and frustration. “This is so unfair! I didn’t even want to do this stupid race in the first place!” “Rules are rules,” Lyra said with a shrug. “Your penalty is to roll around in the mud until you’re completely covered.” “What?!” Diamond Tiara exclaimed, but the Blue Team urged her on as Lyra threw erasers at her. "Okay, okay! Jeez!" Diamond yelled, hurt by the barrage of erasers thrown at her. Reluctantly, and with much grumbling, Diamond Tiara trudged back to the mud pit. She hesitated, glaring at Lyra, who simply gestured for her to get on with it. With a defeated sigh, Diamond Tiara lowered herself into the mud and began rolling around, each movement slow and deliberate. “Ugh, this is disgusting!” she complained, but there was no escaping the punishment. She rolled until she was coated head to toe in thick mud. Finally, Lyra called an end to the challenge. “Alright, everyone, that’s it for Day 1! Rest up, because tomorrow is going to be even tougher.” As the teams dispersed, Diamond Tiara stood there, covered in mud and seething with resentment. But the day was over, and all she could do was prepare for what lay ahead. To be continued... Long tables were pushed against the walls, and the floor was cleared to create an open arena for play. The air buzzed with anticipation as both teams gathered, the Red Team exchanging nervous glances while the Blue Team seemed unusually calm. Lyra, the game master, stood at the center of the room, holding a small, glittering object. "Alright, everyone," she announced, her voice echoing in the large space. "Today’s level is going to be a bit different. We’re mixing things up with a little hide-and-seek twist." She smiled mischievously. "Red Team, you’re the seekers. But here’s the catch—you’ll be locked in the closet while the Blue Team hides. Once you’re out searching, keep your eyes peeled because they won’t just stay hidden. One of them will pop up at intervals, trying to catch you off guard." The Red Team exchanged uneasy looks. They knew this was going to be challenging. Lyra’s grin widened as she continued, "Oh, and before I forget, there’s a small difference in numbers today. Nine members of the Blue Team and eight of the Red Team, which means one of you has to sit out. Who’s it going to be?" Rainbow Dash raised her hand with a smirk. "I’ll sit this one out. You guys got this," she said confidently, glancing at her teammates. "Besides, I’ve got a quiz to ace back in class. Good luck, Red Team!" With that, she turned and jogged out of the cafeteria, leaving the rest of her team behind. Lyra nodded approvingly. "Alright, Red Team, into the closet you go. Blue Team, you have five minutes to hide. Use them wisely." As the Red Team shuffled into the closet, the Blue Team scattered across the cafeteria, quickly finding hiding spots. The atmosphere was tense as they crouched behind overturned tables, nestled in dark corners, and squeezed into tight spaces. Lyra counted down the minutes, and when the time was up, she unlocked the closet door. "Game on!" she called. The Red Team burst out of the closet, immediately spreading out to search for their opponents. The cafeteria, usually a place of socializing and meals, was now a battlefield. Every shadow seemed suspicious, every corner potentially hiding an ambush. Scott Green, a member of the Red Team, was the first to let his guard down. He turned a corner too quickly and was met with a surprise—a potted fern launched directly at him from above. He yelped as it made contact, signaling his exit from the game. "Scott Green is out!" Lyra’s voice rang out over the noise, a slight tone of amusement in her voice. Not long after, Drama Letter, another Red Team member, thought she had found a safe path. She was wrong. A shower of gemstones cascaded from a makeshift trap, knocking her off balance and out of the game. "Drama Letter is out!" Granny Smith, usually sharp and alert, was caught off guard by a flying piece of ham, which splatted against her with surprising accuracy. She sighed, shaking her head as she walked off the field. "Granny Smith is out!" Sunset Shimmer, usually the most cautious, was caught by surprise when a pair of rubber iguanas fell from the ceiling, startling her enough to lose focus. She was declared out as well. "Sunset Shimmer is out!" The chaos continued until Pinkie Pie, always cheerful and bouncy, was taken down by a barrage of jelly beans, slipping on some of them and falling to the ground. She giggled as she exited the game, clearly enjoying every moment despite the loss. "Pinkie Pie is out!" The Red Team was dwindling in numbers, and the tension was mounting. But that wasn’t the end of their challenges for the day. After the game, Lyra gathered the remaining members of the Red Team for a special announcement. "As part of today’s level, there’s a side challenge. A Fear Factor-style eating contest." The Red Team groaned, knowing they were in for something unpleasant. On a table nearby, plates of muffins filled with stinkbugs & fish eyeballs, glasses of blended cockroaches, and bowls of habanero peppers were set out. "You each have to finish your plate," Lyra instructed. "And the last one to finish gets a penalty. The loser will have to drink an extra glass of something special—blended worms. If you can’t do it, you’re out of the game, and the whole Red Team has to spend the rest of the day in the classroom doing nothing but schoolwork. It'll be like detention!" The challenge began, and the Red Team reluctantly dug in. The smell alone was enough to turn their stomachs, but they forced themselves to eat. One by one, they finished, faces contorted in disgust, but it was Silver Spoon who struggled the most. Her hands shook as she tried to down the stinkbug/fish eyeball muffin, and by the time she moved on to the blended cockroaches, she was visibly pale. "Come on, Silver Spoon, you can do it!" one of her teammates encouraged, but she shook her head, gagging as she tried to take another sip. She managed to power through it before she dined on habanero peppers, one pepper at a time. Despite her mouth burning, she managed to down the hot pepper dish. When she reached the final glass of blended worms, it was clear she was at her limit. Tears welled up in her eyes as she pushed the glass away, unable to continue. "I can’t… I just can’t," she whispered, defeated. Lyra nodded solemnly. "Silver Spoon, you’re out of the game. And as for the rest of the Red Team—you’ll be spending the rest of the day in the classroom. No games, no fun, just schoolwork." The Red Team groaned in unison, as Silver Spoon was pelted with more jelly beans. There was no point in arguing with the rules. They trudged to detention, heads hung low, knowing they’d have to reflect on their performance and spend the rest of the day doing nothing but schoolwork. The cafeteria, once full of energy and competition, slowly returned to its usual calm as the Blue Team emerged victorious once again. To be continued... The once grand stage, with its polished wooden floors and heavy velvet curtains, had transformed into the arena for the most intense round of the Ambush game yet. The Blue and Red teams stood on opposite sides, tension thick in the air. Lyra Heartstrings, with a mischievous grin, strutted to the center of the stage, a small pile of random objects behind her. The glint in her eyes told everyone this level would be no ordinary challenge. “Alright, everyone!” Lyra’s voice echoed through the auditorium. “It’s time for Level 3, and today’s game is ‘Lyra Says’!” A murmur of confusion rippled through the players. Lyra didn’t waste a second. “It’s like Simon Says, but with my twist! If you mess up, you’re out—and trust me, you don’t want to mess up!” She turned to the objects behind her, and the room grew silent. She raised her hand. “Lyra says, stand on one foot!” The players scrambled to comply. Scootaloo wobbled a bit but managed to balance. The tension was palpable. Lyra then snapped her fingers. “Lyra says, hop on one foot!” Everyone started hopping, trying their best to keep steady. Scootaloo’s eyes widened as she lost her balance. Without hesitation, Lyra grabbed a kazoo from the pile and hurled it with surprising accuracy. It hit Scootaloo square on the forehead and she let out a yelp. “You’re out!” Lyra declared, her tone a mix of playful and ruthless. Scootaloo slumped off to the side, groaning. “Lyra says, touch your toes!” The players bent over, some more gracefully than others. Vice Principal Luna, trying to maintain her dignity, struggled to reach her toes. Her hand hovered just above her knees when Lyra shouted, “And up!” Luna straightened up immediately—and then froze. Lyra smirked. “Oh no, no, no! Lyra didn’t say!” Before Luna could react, a lemon came sailing through the air. It hit her on the shoulder, and she sighed in resignation. “Out!” Lyra chirped as Luna made her way to the sidelines. “Lyra says, pat your head and rub your belly at the same time!” Lyra continued, the game growing more intense. Derpy managed to pat her head and rub her belly but lost her coordination for just a second. “Muffins for you!” Lyra sang, launching a muffin that bounced off Derpy’s nose. Derpy blinked, dazed, before realizing she was out of the game. "Ooh, muffins!" Derpy yelled out, picking up a muffin from the ground and started eating it, suddenly feeling better about being eliminated. Everyone was grossed out by Derpy eating a ground-stained muffin. The remaining players were sweating now, eyes wide with concentration. Fluttershy, too focused on trying to stay in the game, didn’t realize she was patting her head when Lyra hadn’t said so. “Notebook!” Lyra’s voice rang out as she tossed a spiral-bound notebook at Fluttershy. It thudded softly against her arm. Fluttershy gasped and backed off the stage, disappointed but relieved. “Lyra says, jump as high as you can!” Sweet Leaf, determined to stay in, gave it her all, jumping high. But in her excitement, she forgot to keep rubbing her belly. Lyra laughed. “Onion rings coming your way!” With a flick of her wrist, she sent a handful of onion rings flying, and Sweet Leaf ducked too late. They bounced off her head, and she groaned in defeat as she joined the other ousted players. Now, only two members of the Red Team remain; Rainbow Dash and Soarin’. They exchanged glances, silently acknowledging the need to survive this round. Lyra seemed to enjoy the dwindling numbers. “Alright, Red Team! Side-challenge time! We’re going to do a little rock-paper-scissors duel. Whoever loses… let’s just say it’s going to rain peaches.” The auditorium buzzed with anticipation. Rainbow Dash stepped forward, facing Soarin’. “Ready?” Lyra asked, her grin wicked. Both nodded. “Rock! Paper! Scissors! Shoot!” Rainbow Dash threw out scissors. Soarin’s face fell as he revealed paper. Scissors beat paper! “Too bad, Soarin’!” Lyra exclaimed, grabbing a box of peaches from her stash. She didn’t hesitate to start tossing the ripe fruit at Soarin’. He raised his arms to shield himself, but it was no use. Peach after peach rained down on him until he was almost buried in the sweet, sticky mess. Soarin’ groaned, brushing off the squishy remnants of peaches as he slumped offstage. Rainbow Dash couldn’t help but laugh a little, but she knew she was on her own now. She has to avenge the Red Team by herself! Lyra’s voice rang out again. “One player left standing on the Red Team! Let’s see if you can keep up, Rainbow Dash!” Rainbow grinned, cracking her knuckles. “Bring it on, Lyra! I’m not going down that easy!” To be continued... Lyra, the mastermind behind the game, had added a twist to this challenge. Players would now have to choose between two doors. One door offered freedom, while the other, a perilous fate. To make matters even more unpredictable, the outcome behind each door changed randomly for every player. The number of doors also increases per player. The players stood at the start of the hallway; the tension thick in the air as they stared at the two identical doors before them. "Alright, everyone, listen up!" Lyra announced, her voice echoing through the hallway. "Behind one of these doors lies your freedom. Behind the other... well, let's just say you'll want to duck. Choose wisely, because what was safe for one of you might not be for the next." Rainbow Dash, ever the confident one, stepped forward. "Piece of cake. I’ll go first." She scanned the two doors and, after a moment of deliberation, chose door #1. With a deep breath, she opened it and stepped through. Suddenly, she found herself sliding down a smooth, fast slide. The walls of the tunnel whizzed past her, and in the blink of an eye, she landed gracefully in a room decorated with balloons, streamers, and confetti. There was a table full of cakes and a stack of board games piled high. All the eliminated players are in there as well (they have their headbands removed to let everyone know that they're out)! She is in one half of the room called the winners' area and the other half is where the eliminated players reside: It's called the losers' area. "Welcome to the freedom room!" Pinkie Pie cheered, popping out from behind the table. "You made it, Dashie!" "Ha! Knew I’d get it right!" Rainbow Dash smirked, pumping her hand in the air. "Who's next?" Back in the hallway, there are three doors now! Rarity approached the doors with a dramatic sigh. "I suppose it’s my turn. Door #1 worked for Rainbow Dash, so I’ll give it a try as well." With a flick of her hair, she opened door #1 and stepped inside. Suddenly, the walls around her opened up, revealing dozens of tiny cannons. "What in the world—" Rarity began, but her words were cut short as the cannons fired a barrage of quail eggs at her. "Ahhh! My hair! My dress!" she cried, ducking and dodging the eggs as best she could. When it finally stopped, she stood there, a mess of yolks and shells, her normally pristine appearance in tatters. "Oh, this is simply dreadful!" she wailed, stumbling out of the room. Trixie Lulamoon, trying to suppress a smirk at Rarity's misfortune, decided to try her luck. There are four doors in front of her. "The Great and Powerful Trixie shall choose door #2!" She flung the door open with a dramatic flourish and stepped inside, expecting something grand. Instead, she was met with a sudden splat as ricotta cheese was flung at her from every direction. "Cheese? Really?" Trixie sputtered, wiping the mess from her face. "This is not befitting of the Great and Powerful Trixie!" Next up was Tennis Match, who approached the five doors cautiously. "Okay, I think I’ll try door #2. She opened the door and was immediately sucked into a futuristic travel tube (Futurama-esque). The tube zipped her through twists and turns before gently depositing her into the freedom room. "Woohoo! I made it!" she cheered, joining Rainbow Dash in the winners' area. It's just as Pinkie Pie and the other players were cheering from the losers' area. Finally, Principal Celestia, with her calm demeanor, walked up to the six doors in front of her. "Well, here goes nothing," she said with a slight smile and opened door #6. As soon as she stepped through, a catapult appeared under her feet. Before she could react, it launched her through a tunnel, sending her soaring through the air. She landed gracefully in the winners' area of the freedom room, much to the applause of the others. "That was quite the ride!" Celestia laughed, brushing some dust off her clothes. Pinkie Pie bounced over with a grin. "Congrats, everyone! You made it through! Well, most of you." Rarity and Trixie finally stumbled into the losers' area of the freedom room, both looking worse for wear and their headbands removed. Rarity let out a dramatic sigh, "I don’t think I’ll ever look at quail eggs the same way again." Trixie, still wiping cheese from her hat, muttered, "Trixie demands a redo!" Rainbow Dash couldn’t help but chuckle. "Well, at least you survived! Next time, maybe pick the right door!" "Next time," Rarity replied with a huff, "I’ll be sure to bring an umbrella." To be continued... The absence of the headbands served as a silent declaration: from this point on, it was every player for themselves. The tension in the air was palpable as they entered the brightly lit hallway, which now felt more like an arena than a school. Rainbow Dash glanced at her two competitors, her usual confidence tinged with a hint of determination. "Alright, let's get this over with. No more teams, no more headbands. Just us and whatever crazy challenges are left." Principal Celestia nodded, her calm demeanor betraying none of the nerves she felt inside. "Indeed, Rainbow Dash. May the best competitor win." Tennis Match didn't say a word, but her eyes were sharp, focused. She was the underdog in this contest, but she wasn’t going down without a fight. As they made their way to the courtyard, they were greeted by the sight of the final round’s setup. The obstacle course in the courtyard had been reassembled, standing tall and intimidating in the morning light. Next to it, a long table had been set up in the cafeteria, laden with bizarre and repulsive foods for the Fear Factor eat-off. Finally, in the corner, a small but crucial Rock-Paper-Scissors arena had been marked out on the floor. Lyra Heartstrings stepped forward, a mischievous grin on her face as she addressed the remaining players. "Welcome to the final round, folks! This time, it's a showdown of all the side challenges you’ve faced before. The stakes? Well, the player who loses the most side challenges today gets a special kind of 'send-off'—two projectiles to take that player out. Let’s start with the obstacle course in the courtyard!" The three competitors took their places at the starting line of the obstacle course. Rainbow Dash crouched low, ready to spring into action. Principal Celestia maintained her composed posture, while Tennis Match tried to shake off her nerves. Lyra raised her hand, signaling the start. "On your marks, get set… go!" Rainbow Dash shot forward, her athletic prowess on full display as she zipped through the obstacles with ease. Principal Celestia, though not as fast, used her experience and wisdom to navigate the course carefully. Tennis Match, unfortunately, stumbled on the first hurdle, slowing her down significantly. By the time they crossed the finish line, the results were clear: Rainbow Dash: 1 point Principal Celestia: 0 points Tennis Match: 0 points Rainbow Dash wiped a bead of sweat from her forehead, smirking at her competitors. "Looks like I’m off to a good start!" Principal Celestia gave a gracious nod. "Well done, Rainbow Dash. But the competition is far from over." Next up was the Fear Factor eat-off in the cafeteria. The three of them approached the table with varying degrees of trepidation. Laid out in front of them were bowls of tortilla chips covered in rat hair, salsa of maggots and blood, and a plate of grasshoppers. Rainbow Dash wrinkled her nose but steeled herself. "Gross, but I’ve got this." Principal Celestia, ever the leader, took a deep breath before picking up a chip. "We must be willing to face our fears, no matter how... unsavory." Tennis Match hesitated, her face paling as she eyed the wriggling maggots. "This is seriously disgusting…" The eat-off commenced, with Rainbow Dash attacking the challenge with her usual fervor, while Principal Celestia ate more methodically. Tennis Match struggled, gagging on every bite, barely able to keep up. When it was over, Lyra announced the results: Rainbow Dash: 1 point (total: 2 points) Principal Celestia: 1 point (total: 1 point) Tennis Match: 0 points (total: 0 points) Tennis Match looked visibly shaken, but she pushed herself to stay in the game. "I’m not giving up yet." Finally, they moved to the Rock-Paper-Scissors duel. The tension in the room was thick as the three competitors faced each other. The rules were simple: one round for two players, and the winning player would go up against the player who had yet to go. Rainbow Dash squared off against Tennis Match first, her eyes locking onto her opponent’s. "Ready when you are," Rainbow Dash said, a competitive edge in her voice. Tennis Match gulped, feeling the pressure but determined to at least win this round. They both raised their hands, ready to throw their choices. "Rock, Paper, Scissors… shoot!" Rainbow Dash threw out a rock, while Tennis Match nervously went with scissors. Rock beats scissors! "Rainbow Dash wins!" Lyra called out. Principal Celestia stepped forward to face Rainbow Dash, her expression unreadable. "Let’s see how this goes." "Rock, Paper, Scissors… shoot!" Rainbow Dash threw out paper, while Principal Celestia chose rock. Paper beats rock! "...and Rainbow Dash wins again!" Lyra declared. The results were clear: Rainbow Dash: 2 points (total: 4 points) Principal Celestia: 1 point (total: 2 points) Tennis Match: 0 points (total: 0 points) Lyra stepped forward, a sympathetic smile on her face as she turned to Tennis Match. "Sorry, Tennis Match, but you know what that means." Tennis Match sighed, accepting her fate. "Yeah, I know..." Out of nowhere, sushi rolls and tennis balls began to rain down on Tennis Match, each of them hitting her with surprising accuracy. She yelped and ducked, trying to avoid them, but the barrage was relentless. When it was finally over, Tennis Match looked up, slightly bruised but mostly just embarrassed. "Guess I’m out." Rainbow Dash and Principal Celestia exchanged a glance, both knowing that the competition was only going to get tougher from there. But for now, they could both breathe a sigh of relief—they had survived another round. The gymnasium hummed with tension as Principal Celestia and Rainbow Dash faced each other, both armed with blasters loaded with projectiles that seemed more suited for a bizarre game of dodgeball than a serious competition. The crowd of students watched in anticipation, their eyes darting between the two competitors, waiting for the final round to begin. Principal Celestia, with a determined expression, was the first to aim. She fired a shot, and an upside-down cake soared through the air toward Rainbow Dash. Rainbow Dash grinned, her reflexes as sharp as ever. She ducked and rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding the cake as it splattered harmlessly on the gym floor behind her. Without missing a beat, Celestia fired again, this time sending a vinyl record spinning toward her. "Nice try, Principal!" Rainbow taunted as she leaped into the air, flipping over the spinning disc. She landed gracefully, the record whizzing past her and shattering against the wall. Celestia, unfazed, unleashed her final volley, shooting a wallet straight at Rainbow Dash. But Rainbow was too quick—she sidestepped the flying wallet with ease. Now out of ammo, Principal Celestia looked at her empty blaster and then back at Rainbow Dash, who stood poised and ready. "Well played, Rainbow Dash," Celestia said with a nod of respect. "Thanks, Principal," Rainbow replied, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "But it's time to end this!" With a swift movement, Rainbow Dash fired her blaster. A piece of upside-down cake flew out, hurtling toward Celestia. The Principal tried to dodge, but the cake hit its mark, splattering her with frosting and sealing Rainbow's victory. The gym erupted into cheers as the students, who had been watching from behind the safety of their shields, rushed onto the floor to congratulate Rainbow Dash. The eliminated players emerged, grinning and clapping, acknowledging her as the undisputed champion. Even Lyra, who had taken her defeat in stride, approached Rainbow Dash with a smile. "You got me good, Dash," she said, laughing. "I’ve still got yogurt in my hair!" Rainbow chuckled and gave Lyra a playful nudge. "You asked for it! But hey, you put up a great fight." Lyra grinned, then raised Rainbow’s hand in victory. "Here’s to Rainbow Dash, the ultimate champion!" The crowd quickly gathered around Rainbow Dash, lifting her into the air with a chorus of cheers. "Rainbow Dash! Rainbow Dash!" they chanted, as they carried her around the gym, their arms raised high in triumph. As they set her down, Rainbow Dash stood at the center of the circle of students, her heart swelling with pride. The Rainbooms gathered around her, beaming with admiration for their friend. "You're amazing, Dash," Sunset Shimmer said, hugging her. "You rocked it!" added Pinkie Pie, bouncing with excitement. "Aw, shucks. I always knew you were agile, but the way you displayed that today amazed me, sugarcube!" Applejack cheered. Rainbow Dash smiled, her chest puffing out with pride. "I couldn’t have done it without all of you cheering me on. Thanks, everyone! You guys are the best!" Twilight Sparkle adjusted her glasses, stepping forward. "You know, Rainbow. After today, you’re not just a hero. You’re a school idol now!" Rainbow Dash blinked, taken aback. "A school idol? Me?" Rarity nodded with a proud smile. "Indeed, darling. You've earned it. The way you handled yourself today—both in and out of the game—was nothing short of spectacular." Fluttershy nodded shyly. "You’re the most honorable player this school has ever seen." Rainbow Dash felt a warmth spread through her as she looked at her friends and all the students who had gathered around her. "Wow, I don’t know what to say… This is awesome! Thank you, everyone. I’m honored." The cheers erupted once more, echoing through the gymnasium as Rainbow Dash, now a school idol and the most honorable player, basked in the glory of her victory. The End
