Alone. That's what Nova Shadow was. Left with nothing in spite of everything she had gained in the past that was now nothing more than mere myths. Nothing except her magic. Or the knowledge she was just an insignificant speck of dust in Equestria waiting for the miniature flash no pony would ever notice. Her mind had been scorched inside the Unity Crystals, though her being inside them was an honest accident in a heroic sacrifice. How long had it been since Opaline attacked? Ever since being freed from the Unity Crystals, the young mare wandered around New Equestria grieving over everything she had lost. Being a hybrid between a pony and changeling certainly helped disguise herself amidst everypony in Maretime Bay, though nobody noticed her. In a way, it soothed Nova, they were just as insignificant as she was. And the idea they were blindly unaware of it disgusted her.
Eventually, Nova found a portal. "Starlight Ridge?" Nova said in a puzzled tone. Then Nova's face beamed with anticipation. "Starlight, a-are you in there? It's me Nova!". Nova rushed into the portal and found a new race of unicorns. The Auroricorns? Nova's brow burrowed as her eyes squinted at the portal. Her eyes darted rapidly trying to solve the structure. Nova has spent a long time looking for some pony. Sure, Discord and Spike were there. But Discord, she had no idea where he was. And Spike? Just an amnesiac fossil. Nova remembered seeing him in that state. But Nova wasn't one to let the past die. So Nova continued her search through Starlight Ridge and then something happened. It was like a part of Nova was torn from her body!!
Then she heard a voice and then saw who was talking to her. It was a leopard whose name was Allura. "Brother? Speak to me!". Well, she was not a brother to this leopard and she spoke. But the voice that came out wasn't hers. "Um hi, sis?". Allura stared but then shrugged it off as tiredness. Nova then realised that her brother was torn from his body and it just some disembodied spirit. "Brother? Do you remember the Nova Charm? Does that ring a bell?". Allura was scared. Nova just responded "No". Allura then explained what the Nova Charm was and Nova then asked about Starlight Glimmer. Allura simply snorted laughing. "Ok listen, brother. I rule Auroricorns! We're superior by default to unicorns! And I don't know who this "Starlight Glimmer" is either. Being disembodied really did do something to you, didn't it?"
Nova scowled and she glared into Opaline's soul but settled down. Nova realised she could use the Nova Charm to control Starlight Ridge by slowly transforming it's populace into Old Equestria, finally reuniting with her friends and family figures. Nova smiled and decided to decide Allura's course of action.
Later, Nova left her role as "Allura's brother" to return to Equestria and explore Maretime Bay out of anger of Allura's failure and the mere fact she had the Nova Charm the whole time. Though it was those ponies who interested Nova. Sunny Starscout, Izzy Moonbow, Misty Brightdawn, Hitch Trailblazer, Pipp Petals and Zipp Storm. Nova then decided that if she couldn't transform Starlight Ridge into Old Equestria, then why not play a bloody game or chess?
"This place is for you to learn and to grow. The door will always be open for you to come and to go". Another one of Nova's voices rung through a portal to Misty Brightdawn, who caused Nova to hesitate on her scheme because of how much she reminded her of Fluttershy. Nova's words were genuine. Of course, Nova had no idea where she was and how she got there through the portal. Nova simply left the portal. She wasn't in the mood for finding stuff out in it. For now, she had a friend to make.
Nova and Misty sat in the resting place for Fluttershy. Seeing Discord's respects warmed their hearts. For now they wanted everything to be silent, except for Fluttershy's last message. Nova smiled genuinely for the first time. A small bunny hopped by the place and a memory came into Nova.
Princess Twilight Sparkle walked through the hallways of her castle. It was her new student's first day in Friendship. When she entered the room, it at least tried to, a giant wave of paint went out the room, submerging Twilight, Luster Dawn and many guards in paint. She raised an eyebrow. The young hybrid filly was sitting in an ink puddle on the floor, the canvas a mess and the walls an explosion of paint, with one of Fluttershy's pets swimming in a paint pot. The filly let out an "Eek!" and tried to shield herself with her small hooves. Twilight only arched an eyebrow further at the filly. She had guessed what had happened but the mess was still catastrophic. The small filly let out tears as she spoke.
"I'm sorry Princess Twilight! I was trying to paint a picture like the mosaics in Canterlot but the paint spread on the floor. I tried cleaning it up with magic but I lost control and everything sprayed everywhere and then the paint levels multiplied and caused a wave then you went in and - please.... I-I don't mind if you strike me. It's what every Pony does to me when I mess up....."
The filly then stopped and realised no pony was making a move. She then remembered that it was an unusually long time since she'd seen them. Twilight used a cleaning spell to clean everything up. The filly was mesmerized at the sight. Then a wing wrapped around her, and Twilight sat next to her. "Nova? You're safe...I promise you. No pony's ever going to hurt you again.... I'll always love you sweetie. Even if you mess up one day, okay?" assured Twilight as she calmed Nova down.
Later that day, Nova went to a sleepover at the Crystal Brighthouse and learned about a time travelling spell created by Star Swirl the Bearded. She had heard it from a story that Starlight Glimmer told her. Once everypony was asleep, Nova's eyes shimmered a sickly green glow. Nova smiled as she began her research. This day was going to be perfect.....
