Chapter 2: Royal Meeting

Paelius feels his mouth curl downwards into a frown. Blood Clot had been going on for a good 20 minutes telling Paelius what certain objects were in Ponish. He had been repeating the words back to his teacher at first but now he just listens. Blood Clot has too much energy for Paelius’ liking. Paelius gets up, getting bored of sitting down. He proceeds to immediately collapse at the feeling of the pain in his chest reigniting. Finally noticing that he hasn’t checked what is causing the pain, he unbuttons his cloak and looks under his shirt.

There are large cracks running from the centre of his chest and covering his whole torso. The cracks are glowing a midnight blue which is the colour of Paelius’ magic. Paelius looks up to see Blood Clot right in front of him, staring at the wounds. He sticks out a hoof to try touch them but quickly withdraws as Paelius cut him with his claws.

“It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before.” Blood Clot says while bandaging up the newly formed cuts. Paelius is only able to pick up a few of the words but gets the idea.

“Give me the bandages doc.” Paelius glowered. Blood Clot stands in a small stupor at how well Paelius was able to speak the language he only started learning less than a half hour ago. He is snapped out of the temporary trance by a low growl coming from the alien creature in front of him. Paelius quickly and efficiently rolls gauze all around his torso until the only way one could tell there was a wound was by the slight illumination peeking through.

“What is that” Blood Clot says, with a newfound respect for the biped. The respect diminishes at the unprofessional shrug Paelius responds with.

--=Celestia=--

Celestia rushes down the halls towards her sister’s quarters. The creature they had taken into the infirmary a few days ago has finally awoken. Immediately after there was a report of a unicorn mare who was hospitalized. Celestia herself had looked at the crack. It wasn’t irreparable but the instant show of hostility proved that this creature could not be trusted. It is currently being detained inside its room with doctor Clot stuck inside as well. According to Guardspony Obsidian Shard he was being mind-controlled by the alien. Celestia felt stupid for letting such a dangerous creature inside the castles walls.

“LUNA!” Celestia screeched in an un-princessly way. It’s fine since her escort had been left far behind due to her much larger stride. “Get up. Urgent happenings.”

“What’s the matter Tia.” Luna replied sluggishly. “We did not get any visions of an attack on Equestria. Surely you are overreacting.” Even though her mane shows the night sky it still looks disheveled and unkept. As she steps into the light of the hallway Celestia can see dark bags under her eyes, even against the dark blue of her coat.

“There was an attack by a mind-controlling alien in the infirmary.” Celestia pushed, maintaining her previous energy. Luna looks at Celestia as if she has half the mind to slam the door in her face. Celestia notices Luna’s disbelieving look and decides to double down. “Remember the creature you found sprawled in the garden.” With a nod from her sister, Celestia continues. “It attacked Nurse Heart and is controlling Doctor Clot. I saw the wound myself.”

Lunas expression changes into one of curiosity, but still not one of urgency or true belief. “Then by all means sister, lead the way.”

The princess of the Sun burst through the infirmary doors closely followed by the princess of the Moon. The former looks as if she has just been preparing for a fight, only for her aggression to quickly drop.

--=Paelius=--

Paelius is playing Solitaire on the floor of the infirmary. Blood Clot had initially taken out the cards to play Poker, but Paelius had used his slight of hand to cheat right under the doctor’s nose until he quit. Paelius feels a little better about his situation simply by concentrating on the cards instead of it.

There is a huge slam as two large ponies run into the room, flanked by five exhausted looking guards. The one that is just as tall as Paelius has an alabaster coat and a pastel rainbow mane that moves as if there is wind while the other, which is about half a head shorter, and has a dark blue coat with a mane that reflects the night sky. Both of the creatures are wearing crowns, fancy shoes, and some weird necklace thing. The shorter blue one is giving their taller counterpart a look that says “really”.

Blood Clot bows low the moment he notices their newly entered company. Paelius is easily able to piece together that the two are monarchs of some kind. ‘It honestly took me too long to get it’ he thinks.

“WHO ARE YOU!” The larger pony boomed. She flares out her wings in such a way that the playing cards go flying in all directions. “WHAT ARE YOU DOING!”

“(Well I was playing Solitaire until some flashy bitch ruined it.) I don’t speak Ponish properly.” Paelius mumbles the first bit in English before switching up to Ponish. A golden glow emanates from the horn of the large mare. Paelius scrunches his legs, ready to spring and break her horn as he did with the smaller unicorn. Paelius notices that the guards behind the two rulers are not completely useless as they raise a barrier around the diarchy. There is a flash and Paelius feels his mouth go dry.

“There. Now you should be able to speak our tongue until the spell ends.” She looks proud of herself and only those truly looking could see the small amount of surprise on her face as she notices the barrier.

“So there was a spell for this the whole time. You got some explaining to do doc.” Paelius growls in perfect Ponish.

“I am Princess Celestia, monarch of the Sun.” She states, ignoring his rude comment.

“And we are Princess Luna, monarch of the Moon.” Paelius looks the two mares up and down. They are clearly quite powerful even if they don’t compare to some of that Paelius has known before.

“My name is Paelius, the Great Sage.” Paelius decides to go with his title to inflict a bit more intimidation on them.

“And what dost thou title imply. We do not believe that title exists in Equestria.” Luna looks to her sister as if she is in need of confirmation. After she receives a nod, she looks back at Paelius with renewed confidence. Paelius gets to his feet before he replies.

“It means I’m good at magic.” Paelius replies nonchalantly, now at eye level with the alabaster alicorn. At that moment one of the guards jumps in front of his leaders and shouts.

Author's Note

For this chapter, I put Paelius' language in brackets and had all the Ponish not have brackets. I did this because there is a much larger portion of characters speaking Ponish.

Btw I put in a cover image with Paelius and Blood Clot. Idk if it's just me but the image is really blurry until you click on it. I'm not going to try fix it but it is a little annoying.

Is this chapter written worse than the previous one. I don't think I like it as much. Also this ends ridiculously abruptly and that's because I got tired and will do part 2 tomorrow.
