“So, Miss Apple Fritter, this is the clinic in which you will be working for the next few weeks.”
“Thank you for giving me this opportunity, Sir. Gaining medical experience is hard to come by in these remote provinces,” Apple Fritter smiled at the unicorn stallion before her. He was a kind elderly doctor, the very pony who owned this small clinic and the one who had taken pity on her in her moment of need.
Being a simple earth pony was tough in the medical field, especially coming from a heavily farming-focused area. With little education to show on her small resume, most clinics and major hospitals had declined her request to study as a medical student under them.
"Now, for the first week, you’ll take on the role of a simple assistant nurse. It's the early mating season, so we’ll have plenty of stallions coming to help out for our good cause," Apple Fritter walked beside him as he gave her a tour of the building.
It was small for even a clinic, yet what it did was important, a donation clinic at heart. In times of distress, plenty of blood would be donated, and organs were the most common donation, as more and more ponies were signing up as organ donors. But this was the spring season, so many of the rooms had been remodelled to fit such a time.
"The stallions will donate their essence down to the left of our main hall, and the mares will donate their eggs to the right. You will stand for overseeing the well-being of our stallion visitors. I’m sure they’d be ecstatic at seeing somepony as beautiful as you escorting them."
"You’re too kind, Sir, I’m just an earth pony trying to make a living."
“Nonsense, my dear. Any pony who’s willing to pursue further education for the betterment of all the ponies around them is worthy of praise.” The kind and elderly doctor gave her a pat on the shoulder, walking her over to the gear she’d be responsible for during this week.
“But, won’t my heat cause distress to our customers? I know you’ve sent all the clinic’s mare nurses on holiday for the season,” she added, concerned with her ever-growing needs. She was an earth pony, so her resolve was strong, but what about the stallions?
"I’ve hired part-time stallion doctors from the bigger cities, so don’t you worry, my dear. I’m sure you’ll be fine. You did specify in your resume that you’d be willing to fight through any obstacle, after all."
“But the smell?”
“No 'buts,' young lady. The stallions are here because they've smelled it too much already. There's no harm in having them smell it one last time before they go and do their business.” He chuckled lightly as she admitted defeat. She really needed this job.
She held back a sigh as she saw the cart he had stopped by. She had been expecting to learn medicine, but this looked more like cleaning supplies.
The stallion, noticing her look of dejection, let out a chuckle. “Yes, accidents do happen, and you might have to clean up the occasional spill. Thankfully, those are rare these days.”
He opened the top box of the cart, and it was indeed not filled with more cleaning supplies.
“Not since we invested in these.”
What met Apple Fritter’s eyes were several neatly stacked rows of square plastic packages. They were all blue. She must have seemed confused because he let out another chuckle.
“Never seen a condom before?”
The insinuation caused her yellow coat to blush. “I have,” she mumbled, not meeting his eyes. Why had she chosen to work in a clinic like this of all places? Oh right, because she had no other option if she wanted to finish nursing school.
“Anyway,” the stallion looked embarrassed, realising he might have offended her. “These are what keeps the floors clean in the donation rooms. They are specially enchanted condoms. Once a stallion puts his… essence in them, they will slip off, self-seal, and the seed can then be stored indefinitely with no need for freezing or other special accommodations. On top of that they’re also able to display information about what’s inside of them, for example what race the donor is, how much seed they've donated and of course it’s quality.”
“I see,” Apple Fritter lit up. That made sense. “So what is my job then?” She hoped she wouldn’t have to be involved in the actual filling of the condoms.
“Simple, you greet our donors, give them one of these condoms, and explain how they work. Then you lead them over to one of the free donation rooms and give him the space he needs to, you know, do the deed.”
The old stallion indicated a series of doors, all labelled with a sign that could be flipped to show vacancy. Currently, only one of them read: “Donation in Progress!” while the others appeared to be empty.
As they looked, the magical sign flipped from red to green and now read: “Free.”
“Ah, excellent timing,” her mentor commented. “After the stallion is done, you go in there, collect the donation, and reset the room for the next donor. That’s really all there is to it.”
As Apple Fritter nodded along to the explanation, the door opened, and out stepped two ponies. She immediately recognized Granny Smith and her cousin, Big Macintosh.
“I assume the product worked as intended?” the doctor asked.
“Sure did,” the elderly mare grinned. “His last donation was a huge one too.”
“Glad to hear it,” the doctor sounded pleased by the reply. “And how do you feel, big guy?”
The question was obviously directed at Big Macintosh, though to Apple Fritter's surprise, the normally so attentive stallion barely seemed to register it. Perhaps he was just embarrassed at having his privates discussed in front of his granny and cousin. The way he kept shifting his rear legs sure made it seem that way.
“He asked if yer feelin' alright,” Granny repeated the question, giving her distracted grandson a sharp elbow to the ribs.
That seemed to do it as he finally looked up and mumbled a surprisingly meek, “Yes, Granny.”
“Darn right,” she said. “Now let's get you back to the farm.”
The large stallion nodded and lumbered past Apple Fritter and the doctor without seeming to really notice them.
Granny, meanwhile, followed with a satisfied grin on her face. She did pause in front of the pair though. “Nice tah meet you, Apple Fritter.”
“You too,” Apple Fritter gave her relative a polite curtsy. After all, it was the elderly mare's connections that had landed her this job.
Granny nodded at the sign of respect and then turned to the doctor.
“You take good care of this un, doc. Ah upheld mah end of the deal after all.”
“But of course,” he replied. “I was just showing her around. Your grandson's donation will be the first of many she will collect.”
“Ah guess you all might as well get some use out of it,” she grumbled while turning to leave. Then she seemed to remember something and turned back towards Apple Fritter. “Yer in heat now, isn't that right?”
The blunt question took the younger mare by surprise, and she felt herself blush as she stammered out a reply.
“Y-Yes. Why do you ask?”
Granny grinned mischievously, her eyes following where the big stallion had just walked right past them. “Just checkin'.”
And with that, she was off, hurrying to catch up to her grandson as fast as her frail old legs could carry her.
“What was that all about?” Apple Fritter asked the doctor, curious about the weird encounter with her family members.
“Oh, nothing you need to concern yourself with,” the old doctor assured her. “We've been testing a few new products for the season, and she graciously volunteered her grandson to try one of them out.”
“I see,” Apple Fritter replied, quite sure that she didn't want to know the details about how her lug of a cousin was getting off.
“Anyway,” the doctor said, his professional tone back. “I think it's time you got started on your tasks for the day.”
He nodded at the donation room, which now likely held some of her cousin's contribution, and only the stars knew what new toy he had been using to produce it.
“What do I do again?” she asked, now feeling less sure about her new job than before.
“You go in there and retrieve the donation, then place it on your cart.” The old stallion looked slightly impatient to have to repeat himself. “And if the room is messy, you tidy it up for the next donor.”
“Got it, thanks,” Apple nodded, pushing the door open and peering inside.
What met her eyes was a very tiny room. All it contained was a rather uncomfortable-looking bench, a tiny table, and not much else. She could smell the faint musk of her cousin lingering in the air, but luckily, nothing that would require cleaning. What truly caught her eye, though, was the filled condom resting on the table. It was massive and full to the brim. Her cousin's name was written onto it, together with the text: Fertile Pony Semen, an imprint of his cutie mark and a fertility tier bar that went from SSS to D, with the donation landing at a solid SS.
It didn't take a genius to figure out what the thick white liquid was, though Apple Fritter would never have guessed that a stallion could produce so much. In her limited experience with past coltfriends, the stuff tended to come in quantities that could be measured in mouthfuls. The load her cousin had left, on the other hoof, looked like it might be measured in litres.
She reached out and touched the latex. It was still warm with Big Macintosh's body heat, and as she hefted the weight, she really couldn't fathom how it had all come from one stallion.
“Maybe that's what the new product he was testing did,” she mumbled to herself. “Doc did say that the condoms were enchanted, so maybe this new one squeezes more juice out of your apples or something?”
Though looking at the sheer volume of it, she doubted that. Even if her cousin was bigger than average beneath the tail, there was no way he'd have anything left in the tank after a load like this.
“Probably magic,” she grumbled before picking it up in her mouth. If the condom could keep the sperm virile for years, it could probably triple the amount of it as well. This is why unicorn spells always complicate things.

Apple Fritter was grateful that the old doctor managed to keep a professional face as she emerged from the donation room.
As an earth pony, the only way she'd been able to carry the sample was by using her teeth. She must have looked hilarious as she trotted out with that huge bag of sperm dangling from her mouth, so big she had to strain her neck to keep it from dragging across the floor.
“Well done,” he commented, and then, as if to rub it in, effortlessly took the filled condom orb from her by enveloping it in his magic and letting it float lazily through the air. “Now it has a lot of info on it, but I’d still like for you to write the date and the donors name down on this piece of paper, and then put it here in your cart.”
Apple watched as he opened another compartment and dumped the cum-filled thing into it.
“You'll be able to keep around 20 donations in here,” he explained. “Once it gets full, or at the end of your shift, you leave it in the storage room and grab another cart. I'll have one of the more experienced staff take care of it after that.”
“Sounds simple enough,” Apple said once she was sure there were no more instructions to come. “You can count on me.”
“Glad to hear it,” the old stallion smiled. “I’ll let you get started then.” He turned to leave. "I'll be in my office if you have questions, or you can ask one of the other doctors."

“I’m telling you, this is the best idea I’ve ever come up with!” Buddy walked jauntily beside Meadow Song. With most of the farming work and other tasks around town covered, Buddy had decided for them to go on a walk.
“I still think it’s wild and completely out of our field. I mean, to donate something of such importance... What about the foal who will never know their sire?” Meadow was more old school than most in this field, but that’s what made talking with Buddy so much fun.
“Meadow, come on. They might not end up knowing who their sire is, but who cares. Think about the money! They pay quite the amount of bits for just one donation.” The Pegasus jumped in front of him, a joking rich-man-look on his face as he explained his reasons.
“You really want those tickets to that Wonderbolt show, don’t you?”
“Eyupp, but they pay more than what those tickets cost. I was thinking of perhaps inviting out a certain mare I’ve had my eyes on. A nice dinner would surely swoop her off her hooves.”
“You and your love for Parasol man… So you really don’t care that your very own foals — a foal that is made from your love essence — will never be in your care?” Meadow was a little concerned for his friend.
“You think too much, Meadow. I might not be the sire in their life and watch them grow. Even so, think of the ponies who aren’t able to. We will be helping them start families!” Buddy jumped in the air, spreading out his wings to make a small flip.
“You do have a point there. I guess those infertile ponies deserve a chance at parenting too,” Meadow pondered out loud. The two sat down on a bench to rest near the edge of Ponyville, the spring season in full swing as the weather was getting warmer.
“Buddy, I was thinking. Yes, it’s a good idea in terms of helping other ponies in becoming parents... but wouldn’t this make us lesser as ponies, to do something dirty like this?” Meadow leaned back, looking up at the Pegasus above changing the weather.
“You’re really too old school, Meadow. It’s alright to crank one out every now and then. Listen, I won’t force you if you don’t want to. However, if it makes you feel like less of a proper pony, then I won’t do it either.”
“There are still weeks until we get paid for our work this month, Buddy. What about that air show? Would you really be okay with missing it just because of me?” Meadow looked at his friend suspiciously. His relaxed demeanour wasn't fitting for a Wonderbolt conversation.
“You’ve always been focused on keeping face, Meadow. To go and ruin your reputation with something like this wouldn’t seem right, but... at least think it over, would you?”
“I... of course I’ll think it over. It’s just that donation to such a cause... I know it’s a good cause, but is it a morally good one?” The two leaned back on the bench, relaxing in the warming sun and the cold spring air.
“You know the clinic isn’t just for that. You can also donate blood and sign yourself up for donating your body when you pass away. I know my grandparents and parents have all signed up to have their bodies help other ponies when they pass on to the afterlife.”
“You Pegasus bunch, always in front of the curve compared to the rest of us.”
“Don’t make it sound like that!” Buddy tapped Meadow's shoulder, giggling at his friend's dark humour. “Unicorns came up with it, and if the rumours about Granny Smith forcing her own family to sign up for the organ donation thing are true, then I’d say the times are shifting, even here in this little town of Ponyville.”
“Granny Smith is an outlier; she always does such weird things that baffle us. At times she’s out of this world old school, and at other times she’s asking for progress not even unicorns in Canterlot had seen coming.” The two giggled at that; Granny truly was a mystery to them.
“Tell you what, Buddy, if you can promise me a good cover-up story in case others spread rumours about our little visit to the donor clinic, then I’d be willing to join you.” The premise regarding donating seemed less and less like an issue the more they talked, he thought.
“Really, all I have to do is make sure you keep face by coming up with a cover-up story?”
“Eyupp, shouldn’t be too hard with how full of yourself you can be. Just don’t go over the top; it’s not like we’re helping a king with his infertility issues,” Meadow joked, laughing with his friend about such an absurd thought.
“Alright, pinkie promise. I’ll come up with a good reason for us to go donate, and in return, you make sure to keep your schedule open.”
“My schedule? When do you plan on us visiting the clinic anyway?”
“Later today if possible, near their closing time. Then we won’t have to worry about getting spotted by others,” Buddy explained, as the two stood up to continue their morning walk.
“Good thinking there,” Meadow gave Buddy a hoof bump, sealing the deal for the later adventure. As they entered the city of Ponyville itself, a distinctive smell became stronger.
“Mating season. I guess that explains the bonus they give to ponies who donate early in the estrus period,” Buddy explained in a whisper, not wanting to draw the eyes of nearby ponies.
“Ahhh, so that’s why you want those bits. Planning on getting your spear dirty, mister good-looking bastard?” Meadow held back a laugh, his playboy friend embarrassed.
“Why you little,” Buddy said, jumping up to ruffle his hair playfully. “I’m just a natural charmer, alright? No reason to make me sound like an old school jock.” The two continued their walk in silence, yet the air grew thicker. Before reaching the crosswalk where they needed to split up, Meadow looked at Buddy with a slight tint under his fur.
“Might not be a bad idea… just come up with a story quick,” Meadow said through gritted teeth, his hormones on fire as his nature was slowly taking over. Perhaps letting off some steam via donation wasn’t such a bad idea again, the earth pony deduced mentally.
“Just try to keep it in until tonight, my friend. But for now, let's just try to survive this season and avoid getting jumped by an eager mare.” The two stallions laughed openly in the empty clearing, exchanging another hoof bump before departing toward their own houses. Buddy walked towards his house in Ponyville, while Meadow walked towards Apple Acres.

The clock was 20 minutes past seven when they finally met up back in Ponyville, Meadow trotting as he'd been caught up with washing dishes after dinner. For once, Buddy had been the one to arrive early, as he'd been eager to let off some steam and get away from his BFF, Parasol. The girl was in season, and he didn't want to jump the gun before he could ask her out for dinner.
"Just so we're clear on this, it's a one-time thing, Buddy," Meadow whispered as they started walking through Ponyville in the dark, music and noise audible from some shops and houses, their hoofsteps the most prominent sound outside of their quiet whispering.
"A one-time thing, why only once?"
“I get that this is a good cause, but I’m really only doing this because I’m single, backed up, and because you, of all ponies, got me convinced that this is for the greater good.” Looking back and forth between the dark alleyways, Meadow leaned closer to his friend. “And, because I’m really hoping to find a mare to marry and have children with, okay.”
“Scared of her figuring out you might have sired more than a few foals out of wedlock?” A small nod came from his farm stallion friend; Buddy was amused at Meadow's way of thinking. Meadow wasn’t a part of the Apple Family, but he was close to them, both personally and in his way of thinking, as he’d grown up in the vicinity of Apple Acres.
“Aren’t you rushing things a little? You know, normally one would go for a few years of dating before solidifying the thing, and here I thought I was the playboy.” Meadow laughed at that, the pair continuing on and out of Ponyville towards the clinic.
“This’ll be the last time I donate like this. Next season I’m definitely going to have found somepony, hopefully I'll already be a dad by that time.”
“Do you have anypony in mind?”
“You know who! By Luna herself, I’m fairly certain Apple Fritter is the only one who doesn’t know.” Buddy gave his friend a playful hit on the shoulder, giving him an assuring smile.
“She’ll figure it out sooner or later, but you know, you could just be direct and tell her that you wish to start a relationship with her,” Buddy pointed out, the clinic appearing in the distance.
“Right… listen, I’ll invite her out once you grow a pair to invite out Parasol, deal?”
“Deal!” Buddy bumped his friend's hoof, smiling smugly to himself as he was thinking of just when to ask Parasol out, and get his stubborn friend to finally confess as well.

The clinic loomed in the evening gloom. Normally, it was not an imposing sight at all, just another building in the small town, easily ignored.
Today, however, Meadow and his friend were heading inside. He was tempted to chicken out, but he could just imagine Buddy's smug grin if he did, so he soldiered on.
It seemed like they had arrived just as the place was closing down; even the receptionist's desk was empty. What awaited them instead, or rather who, made Meadow's heart sink.
Fuck! He swore internally. Of all the ponies he could bump into here, it just had to be her! Literally the one pony he really didn't want to know about his visit to the clinic, and here she was.
“Meadow?” Apple Fritter asked, her eyes widening in surprise. “What are you doing here?”
“I...eh…” Meadow stammered, feeling a blush spreading across his cheeks as he tried to come up with an explanation for why he was here that didn't involve the actual truth.
Before he could come up with anything better than: “It's not what it looks like!”, which certainly wouldn't have helped things, Buddy came to the rescue.
“Why we're here to donate, of course,” he said, putting a brotherly wing around Meadow's barrel, the traitor!
Apple Fritter seemed even more surprised as she looked between the two stallions. “You mean…?” A blush that very much matched Meadow's own now adorned her cheeks as well. Even through the choking embarrassment, he couldn't help but notice how cute she looked.
“Yeah,” Buddy continued, still utterly shameless. “I dunno if you've noticed, but the mating season has started.”
He gave the mare a meaningful grin, as if they weren't all three painfully aware of the smell emanating from her rear.
Meadow felt like punching his friend as he watched the mare he loved tuck her tail between her legs, a look of shame on her beautiful muzzle.
“Shut up!” he said instead, giving his friend an angry look.
“What?” Buddy removed his wing and made a calming gesture with it. “That is why we’re here, isn't it? To help out the mares struggling with the heat.”
Meadow couldn't really argue with him there; it was why they had decided to donate their seed. Well, that and the money, and he wasn't about to admit that to Apple Fritter.
“Why, it's practically our civic duty as young and virile stallions,” Buddy continued.
“Okay, I get it,” Apple Fritter cut him off. “It's really nice that you're helping out, both of you,” she said, that last part with a lingering look on Meadow.
“You're welcome.” Meadow couldn't help but keep a smile off his muzzle. He really hoped he'd read that look correctly. Could she really be into him as well? He really hoped so!
“Yeah, we're really nice like that,” Buddy butted in. “Always happy to lend a hoof to a mare in need.” A shit-eating grin on his face as he mimicked just what he meant by a helping hoof.
Before Meadow could tell him to shut up, his self-appointed wingman further embarrassed him by leaning in and giving a conspiratorial whisper that was easily loud enough for the mare to overhear.
“Looks like you have somepony here who really wouldn't mind a helping hoof, if you know what I mean.”
Apple Fritter definitely understood what he meant. The blush that had so far been limited to her cheeks spread across much of her yellow coat, and she looked away, no longer able to meet Meadow's eyes. However, the way she shifted her rear legs spoke volumes about how accurate the statement had been.
“S-sorry,” she stammered out, still blushing furiously. “I'm not allowed to take donations on the job.”
“Well, I am,” she hurried to correct herself, looking up for a brief second. “But, you know, not that way. Sorry.”
The way she looked at Meadow as she said that part made his heart throb. And honestly, not just his heart.
What she said next utterly floored him, well, metaphorically.
“Maybe you could…” she mumbled, looking at his hooves, too shy to meet his eyes. “We could meet up after I clock out, and… you could give me a donation.”
Meadow couldn't believe his ears as he looked at the mare of his dreams. Did she just offer what he thought she did?
Their eyes met as she eventually gathered the courage to look up, and she nodded.
“Get a room, you two!” Buddy snorted, always happy to ruin a beautiful moment.
“You get one!” Meadow tore his eyes away from Apple Fritter to bark at his so-called friend.
“I'm already on it,” the Pegasus grinned back. He lifted his wing to show a blue square held between his primaries.
“Don't worry,” he said as the mare who actually worked there glared at him. “I've done this before.”
Once more showing off his utter lack of shame, he dug into the cart full of condoms next to the mare.
“Hey, look, they have pink ones,” he said, holding up a square, identical to the condom he held, save for its colour. "Probably means they're small enough to fit your pencil dick, Meadow."
“Actually!” Apple Fritter shot back. “I think the pink ones are bigger. I saw Big Macintosh use one earlier today, and I haven't seen any other stallions use them since.” She looked over and gave her fellow earth pony a wink. “So I think it's perfect for a stud like Meadow here.”
Meadow couldn't resist a smug grin of his own as he marched over and took the pink condom from his friend's wing.
“Looks like I'm the bigger stallion after all,” he boasted, knowing full well that his Pegasus friend couldn't match him for size.
“That's not…” Now it was Buddy's time to blush with embarrassment, about damn time. “You know what, screw you. I bet I'm ten times more virile than you, mud horse.”
Meadow just chuckled. “You're on, featherbrain. If your donation is bigger than mine, then I'll eat Applejack's hat.”
“Deal!” Buddy's face was still flushed, but he looked determined as they shook hooves. He then marched off to occupy one of the empty rooms.
“So…”
It was then that Meadow remembered there was another pony present. He sheepishly turned to look at his crush.
“Sorry about that,” he apologised. “Buddy and I can get a little competitive.”
Thankfully the mare didn't look upset at all as she replied. “It's okay,” she said and then admitted. “It was kinda hot actually.”
Meadow couldn't believe his ears. “Really?” He asked, staring at the excited mare.
“Yeah,” she said, her tail wagging, wafting even more of her enticing smell towards his nostrils. “Tell you what,” she said, boldly stepping closer. “If your donation is bigger than his…” she whispered, leaning in painfully close and making his heart race. “I'll let you take me out for a date, and then afterwards…”
It was a testament to just how much he wanted it that he was able to breathe out a “Yes?”
“Then I'll let you take me home and rut me until the heat passes.”
“Deal!” Meadow didn't care if he sounded overeager; this was too good to resist!
He hurried off into one of the donation rooms, eager to get this part of the night over so he could spend the rest of it with Apple Fritter.

“They could at least have decorated the room a little…” Meadow commented. The walls around him left nothing visually appealing to enjoy, and the bench was even less inviting.
“Well, better get this going then,” he said a little too enthusiastically as he thought back to his dream mare asking him out and even inviting him home to rut, during the season no less.
The pink condom lay before him; in all honesty, he kind of wished he had tried to look for a bigger one. “Have I regretted joining Buddy… Nope!”
He giggled when thinking about it, sounding like Big Macintosh in this sort of glory moment. Knowing that he'd claim a mare before Apple Fritter’s cousin could.
“Wait, she’d seen Big Mac donate?!” Fear filled his veins, the thought of getting humiliated by Apple Fritter's own family quite possibly an option.
“Do I… no, no, better not mention him at all when I return,” he shook his head, finding it wisest to simply forget about the bigger stallion visiting the clinic.
“Who'd even convinced him, I thought he was a stubborn traditionalist,” Meadow wondered, pushing himself to think for longer as he didn’t actually want to donate now.
“Probably Granny Smith; that mare can convince anypony to follow her.” A smile grew on his lips at the thought of his soon-to-be family member bullying a much larger stallion.
Picking up the condom again, Meadow inspected it slowly. It was like any other condom he’d ever seen at the grocery stores, the only difference being the warning on the backside.
“One Time Use, exclamation mark, exclamation mark, exclamation mark.” He couldn’t help but laugh; he’d seen instructions popping up on lots of products recently. He and his other farming friends blamed the youngsters for producers not trusting the customers.
“Of course it's a one-time use, you dummies. Who in their right mind would use the same condom twice?” Opening it up, Meadow stretched out the latex to fit over his flare.
“Celestia above, just who designed these.” Stretching it slowly down his half-flaccid length, Meadow found the fit snugger than… Well, he didn’t really have anything to compare it to since he was a virgin, but he thought it much tighter than most likely any mare.
“What the?” When the latex hit the base of his pride, a pink magic surrounded his package.
“Just what have those unicorns now been up t-” The words were caught in his throat as the feeling of a tight mare surrounded his flare.
“Forget all I said, keep going.” Closing his eyes, Meadow imagined the magic stimulating him to be Apple Fritter herself, the tight and warm feel of a female filling his imagination.
“I’ll be with you soon, my love.” The lack of heat pheromones in the air was disappointing. However, Meadow wasn’t discouraged as his hips started thrusting into the air.

She spun around to see the Doctor emerging from his office, now dressed in more casual clothing, having left his white coat inside. He appeared ready to head home.

“Glad to hear it,” he said, giving her a friendly pat on the shoulder as he moved to inspect her cart. “My, looks like a lot of donations today. Well done.”
Apple Fritter beamed at the praise, although suspecting it had more to do with the mating season than anything she had personally accomplished. However, her pleasant moment shifted to concern as the Doctor froze, his smile vanishing into a frown as he observed the cart holding the results of her first work day.
“Why is there a pink condom here?” he asked. “I wasn’t aware we had any more geldings today.”
“Geldings?” Apple stared at the Doctor, the unusual word puzzling her in the otherwise good moment as she was about to go home. “Is that who the pink condoms are for?”
That didn't make sense when she thought about it. The colours, sure, blue for stallions, pink for non-stallions… but why would a gelding donate? How would they even be able to do so? Apple Fritter wanted to protest, but the doctor was right, her knees were weak and she was hyperventilating. She gently let herself collapse against a nearby wall, letting it take her weight as she focused on getting her breathing under control. It wasn't easy, given the weight of what she had just done, but she tried.
The glass of water helped too, and she greedily guzzled it down while the doctor watched.
“There there,” he said, giving her a gentle pat on the shoulder.
The gentle assurance in his voice helped to further reduce the tension in the room and she finally looked up to meet his eyes. A dozen questions fighting for answers in her gaze.
The doctor let out a sympathetic sigh and began talking.
“From your reaction I'm guessing the gelding that donated didn't want to be one?” he said, nodding at the cart with the offending pink condom on it.
Apple shook her head, feeling a few tears threaten the corners of her eyes.
“That's unfortunate,” the stallion agreed, “but what's done is done.” He met her gaze and shook his head, squashing any false hope she might've still had. “I’m sorry but that stallion is now good and gelded for life. There's nothing we can do about that.”
Apple Fritter nodded. She hadn't really believed the liquified remains could be restored anyway, but it was still hard to hear the finality of Meadow's castration.
She watched as the doctor lifted the condom and inspected it closely.
“If it's any comfort, this pony wasn't much of a breeding stallion to begin with.”
Apple felt anger rise inside her at that comment. How dare he say such things about her stud. Er, her former stud!
The doctor merely floated the engorged bag over and showed her the text that had magically appeared on it.

“A bit, yeah.” The Doctor agreed. “But an honest one. I bear some of the responsibility as well for not instructing you properly. I didn't want to overwhelm you on your first day so I decided not to tell you about the pink condoms since you weren't trained to use them anyway. I should have made sure there weren't any on your cart though, that was my oversight.”
That lit some light in Apple Fritter. Maybe her love life was in tatters, but it sounded like there was at least some hope left for her career.
“So I'm not fired then?” She asked.
The doctor shook his head. “No, you're a promising young mare and I'm not going to let one mistake keep you from helping ponies in the future. Besides, mating season is a hectic time for us and I can't afford to be a pair of hooves short, even if they are inexperienced. Just be more careful in the future, okay.”
“I promise!” Apple nodded so hard she felt a crick in her neck.
The old doctor huffed, in a 'don’t make me regret this' kind of way, but returned the nod. “Good, now go put that cart in the storage room and then go home. I expect you back at your shift tomorrow, so get some rest until then.”
Apple felt the relief spreading through her body, that was at least one disaster averted. Now it was time to suck up and tackle the next.
“Actually, I think I'll go visit the stallion I…” she trailed off, not being able to finish the sentence.
“The stallion you accidentally gelded?” The doctor clearly had no such reservations.
“Yes,” Apple bit down on the shame she felt over that. “I think the very least I could do is find him and apologise.”
That seemed to really earn her back some of the respect the doctor had lost for her. His face lit up and he looked pleased.
“You take responsibility for your actions. That's good to hear” he said, nodding in approval. “Seems I really did the right thing keeping you around.”
“Absolutely,” Apple Fritter agreed, glossing over the fact that she had intended to visit Meadow anyway as soon as she got off work, and for far less noble reasons. Though she suspected the wild rutting she had been hoping for might not happen anymore.
“On your way then.” The doctor turned to leave.
Apple looked down at her cart, and at the pink condom that seemed to stare back at her accusingly.
“Uhm, what should I do with this one?” she called back after the retreating doctor. “Put it in storage with the others?”
The doctor paused just by the door, clearly eager to forget about this mess and go home.
“Nah,” he called back. “It's only D-tier, might as well throw it in the trash.”
That did not sit right with Apple, to hear her lover's last chance at fatherhood be so disgustingly dismissed. “What?!” she exclaimed, letting her displeasure be known.
“The doctor let out a put upon sigh and turned to face her.
“Look, it's not a great look I know, but what else are we going to do with it? No mare's going to come into the clinic and ask for the lowest quality donation from somepony who isn't even a stallion anymore.”
“Some mare might want it,” Apple retorted, even knowing he was right, at least mostly.
“If you find one, then by all means,” the doctor replied, once more turning to leave. “But I don't see that happening, so you might as well dispose of it.
Apple stared at the condom. She could think of exactly one mare who might be interested… but that was a wild rabbit hole to go down.
“I understand,” she eventually said, “good night Doctor.”
“And good night to you, Apple Fritter.”

“Come inside, I’ll get you something to drink,” Meadow insisted, keeping the door open for her to enter while he went into the kitchen, pouring a good amount of apple juice for the two of them to enjoy at this late hour.
He had barely managed to place the refreshments and glass onto his living room table before he felt himself getting tackled. “By Luna, what was that for?!” Meadow exclaimed in the nicest tone he could manage, the air almost having been knocked out of him as he hit the wooden floor, with the sound of impact reminding him of two pro pony wrestlers.
“Sh-shut up. Just shut up for a second, you idiot,” Apple stuttered, tears streaming out of her two beautiful eyes, her pigtails landing on each side of his confused face. This wasn’t how he’d expected their first time to go; Meadow thought his new marefriend was so eager that she'd lost control and, in turn, had gotten sad because of it.
“What have I done, and just as things were turning out well for us, I went and ruined it. I’m an idiot… I should’ve asked why they were different colours,” Apple spoke in a low whisper, with Meadow managing to hear about half of what the cute mare above him was whispering.
“It’s okay, I’m sure whatever you did can be fixed,” Meadow assured her.
“FIXED! You sexy hunk of a pony, that's the problem!”
In the blink of an eye, Apple Fritter had hooked her legs under his rump, lifting the neutered male's behind to show him just what she’d accidentally done to him. He flinched, freezing in place as he came face to face with his junk for the first time since he’d used the condom. “It was an accident, and nobody but me and the clinic's head doctor knows…” Apple Fritter helped Meadow onto his hooves, the two slowly waltzing off into the bedroom they would share for the night. “I can’t bring them back, but I can give you implants to cover up what you’ve become, ensuring that others will always see you as the stud you are…”
“A stud, you say… Fritter, I’ll never sire a single foal. Just how could I ever call myself that? “Yes and no. Ponyville is evolving rapidly these days… and it’s not like I can worry about you going there to do it again,” she joked lightly. Silence enveloped the pair, his deep breaths causing her head to rise and fall as she lay on his warm, fuzzy chest.
“I love you, Apple Fritter, even if I won’t be able to ever make love to you…” She had tried to cheer him up for a while now; though understandable, he wasn’t completely getting over his loss—even with a little baby filly on the way. Meadow knew it would be his only foal ever.
“Alright, listen up, Meadow. I’ll go get some potions tomorrow to make this floppy thing into a hard diamond, okay?” That statement brought a laugh out of her gelding coltfriend. The pair pulled the covers over them as they went to bed.
“I love you, Apple Fritter.”
“And I love you too, Meadow Song.” And with that, they turned off the light, falling asleep in each other's embrace as tomorrow would be a new day for them.
