Chapters As the Elements of Harmony pulse waiting for its powers to be unleashed, Discord, Lord of Chaos, was terrified. Since leaving his stone tomb, he never thought his reign of chaos would never end.
“Noooooo!” Discord exclaimed as the Elements hit his body. A blinding flash startled everyone near where Discord was sitting.
“We did it girls, we defeated Discord!” said Twilight.
From the long-legged bunnies to the candy cotton clouds, everything in Equestria went back to harmony. As the dust cleared from where Discord last sat, a figure was laying down on the grass.
The figure woke up traumatized, “Where am I? Ah, what just…happened?” As he stood, he look at the multicolored ponies, “Can somepony please tell me where I am!” Stunned, the multicolored ponies stood there speechless.
Twilight said “It seems the elements didn’t work. Girls let’s try harder this time!”
The group went into formation and POOF … nothing happen.
Discord yelled, “What are you trying to do to me? I am not trying to hurt you, my little ponies. I just need somepony to answer my question!”
Still shocked, Twilight couldn’t come up with an explanation, Why did the Elements fail on us? Or did they work? There has to be an explanation for this! Fluttershy was shaken by the sight of Discord, she was behind Rainbow Dash, and whispered to group “Ummm, what do we do now?” None of her friends’ paid attention to what the yellow pony had to say.
Finally, Pinkie Pie went closer to the draconequus creature, “Sir, you are in Ponyville” With a confused look on his face he said, “What is this “Ponyville” you speak of? Where are Celly and Lu-Lu? I must speak to them; they will fill me in on what’s going on around here.”
Applejack walked up next to the party pony, and tried to comfort the creature in distress. “Calm down sugarcube, everything will be alright; you just need to calm down.”
Rainbow Dash confronted Twilight and said, “What’s your plan, Twilight? What should we do?”
Twilight with a blank expression on her face said, “Let’s take him back to the library, and then we will figure out what to do with him.”
Back at the Library, Princess Celestia and Luna were waiting for the arrival of Twilight and her friends along with Discord. As Twilight and the gang entered the Ponyville Library, they were surprised to see that the majesties were lying down in the middle of the room with a concern look on their faces. Last to enter was none other than the Lord of Chaos himself, Discord. Discord was full of joy to see Celestia and Luna were there, he approached the middle of the room.
“Ah, long time no see, how have you been Celly and Lu-Lu?”
Luna stood up and pointed her hoof to Discord and said “HALT, THOU SHALL NOT TAKE ANOTHER STEP! ” Discord stopped, frighten by Luna’s voice.
“You…don’t recognize me, why so much hate against me, my dear Lu-Lu?” Celestia was the next to stand up, and walked around Discord several times. She though to herself, this isn’t the same Discord we incased in stone, could it be…
Celestia put a hoof on Luna’s back and says, “Sister, put your hoof down!” Discord had a face of filled with happiness, got closer to Celestia.
“Celly, my dear, thanks for not screaming at me or threating me, I’ve been having a terrible, terrible day.” She was surprised; Did the Elements transform him to his old “kind” self? “No worries, my old friend… I’m glad to see you are back!” Celestia exclaimed.
As the Princess stopped talking, Twilight yelled, “Princess Celestia, what do you mean “old friend”? Don’t you see that he is playing a trick on us! He is the lord of chaos, CHAOS”
The draconequus hid behind Celestia shaking with fear, “My little pony, why did you call me the “lord of chaos ”? Celly please calm her down!”
Celestia needed to tell the truth about Discord, she knew that he had changed. “All of you, I have something to say, Discord isn’t the person you know.” The room was silent, “You see, before he went on his reign of chaos, he used to be a personal friend of mine and Luna. He was the most loyal, kind, honest, generous pony I knew. He was also one of the most powerful being to exist.”
When Celestia mentioned all of the Elements of Harmony, Twilight was concerned. “So…Princess, what you are to saying? That we should trust Discord and forget all the chaos he created? “.
“Yes”, she whispered something to Luna, then approached Discord and said, “My friend, come with us, we'll fill you in” then she looked at the of the ponies in the room, “As for the rest of you, go back to your normal duties, we need some time with Discord and help him adjust to this world.”
As the door closed, Spike came into the room, “Oh, you guys are back! So did you defeat Discord?” The room stood silent, “Well, you see Spike the Elements worked on Discord but…” Spike was confused, “… but what Twilight?” “The Elements didn’t defeat Discord, but it seems that the Elements changed him…” After Twilight finished explaining to Spike what had happen, a letter arrived from the Princesses.
Dear my little ponies,
We would like to inform that due to recent events, we need to keep Discord in the shadows for a while. He is certainly not ready to face the world that he is in right now. We have caught him up on the history of Equestria. The Royal Guard will be keeping a close eye on him, so don’t worry about myself or Princess Luna. Also, we would like for all of you to come to the Palace, tomorrow at 9 o’clock. I need you, as the Elements of Harmony to teach Discord about this world, and make him comfortable. I feel that you should know a secret that I have been holding since Discord left his stone tomb. All will be explain tomorrow.

“Well, I must go, I need my beauty sleep if I am to go to the palace. Goodnight everypony, I will see you all tomorrow.” As Rarity left, every other pony in the room was looking tired.
“I recommend you all go to sleep, we are all exhausted from earlier. Hopefully we'll all get some answers tomorrow.”
With that, everypony left, and only Twilight and her assistant were there. Twilight needed an answer, and she needed it now. “Spike, I need you to find me all the books about Equestria’s history.” He whined, “But Twilight, it’s almost midnight, why don’t you make Owlicious do it!” Twilight glared at her assistant “Fine, but I’m sleeping in late!”
Hours before, the Princesses and the Lord of chaos arrived at the Palace, “Welcome to our home Discord” Discord was shocked, “I see that this place has changed, it much nicer!”
Celestia exclaimed, “Aw! Thanks! Do you want anything to eat? How about a drink?”
His stomach growled, “Sure, I would love something to eat Celly!” The Princess ordered one of the Royal Guards to go to the Kitchen and get a sandwich for Discord.
“We want to give you a proper tour of the Palace, and then we shall explain everything to you, but first let’s eat”
After finishing their meals, they began their tour, “So…how have you been Celly and Lu-Lu?” Celestia responded, “Well, good except for some incidents…” Discord was puzzled, “What do you mean by “some incidents”?” Celestia took a deep breath. “You see, Lu-Lu became bitter about ponies not enjoying the night. So she became so bitter she turned into a wicked mare of darkness.”
Luna was covering her ears with her hoofs. “Stop Celly! You know I hate it when I am reminded about that!” She ran up to her room, crying, Discord close behind her.
“Let her go, she will be fine. As I was saying, she turned into a wicked mare of darkness, she wanted to make our world live in darkness but with the Elements, I banished her to the moon.”
Discord was shocked. “So that’s why she was crying.”
Discord and Celestia stopped and she continued, “Well, there is more to it, she came back after a thousand years and wanted to imprison our world in darkness until…” Discord was becoming impatient.
“Until what Celly?”
Celestia took another deep breath, “Until they brought me my sister using the Elements of Harmony.” “So are the little ponies back in “Ponyville” the bearers of the Elements, are they the ones who brought back Lu-Lu to you?” Celestia nodded.
“Ah, well anything else I should know about Celly?”
Celestia responded, “Not really, it seems that you are taking all of this news so well. I’m glad you’re back!” She pecks a kiss on his cheek and said goodnight to him. He stood their shocked, Why did she…? Does she have feelings for me? I need some rest. Soon after the Royal Guards arrived and showed him to his sleeping quarters.
Back at the Ponyville Library, Twilight grabbed any book that related to the princesses and Discord. She needed to find out what kind of friendship Discord and princesses had.
“Twilight its past midnight, go to sleep, you have an important day ahead of you!”
The magical pony didn’t stop researching. As she looked through every book twice, it seemed she would never find info on the princesses and Discord. After more than 40 minutes, she finally gave up, she headed into her bedroom. Spike was already in his bed, Twilight rolled her eyes as Spike was once again sleep talking.
“Oh Rarity…you are...so beautiful.”
She climbed up to her bed and she thought, tomorrow I shall know the history behind them, I hope the princesses are okay with him being inside the palace. And with that finally went to sleep.
The following day, Twilight and her friends were ready to head to Canterlot. They were up very early.
“Hurry up girls! We are going to be late! I don’t want to be late to this” said Twilight.
“Hold your horses, Twi, if it weren’t for Rarity’s luggage here, we would already be on the train.”
Applejack finally dropped Rarity’s luggage, tired from carrying it.
“What did you even pack, Tom?” The rest of the ponies giggled, except for Rarity.
“Well if you want to know I want to look as nice as possible while we are in Canterlot, and Applejack, I thought I said to never talk about that again.”
“Fine Sugarcube, I’ll drop it” responded Applejack.
Finally they hopped into the train and they were off to Canterlot, where they would find out more about the “new” Discord.
Twilight had another plan in mind, What if this is just a trick that he is pulling on the Princesses?
Back at the palace, Discord rose from his bed, walked over to the glass doors, and opened them. It was still dark out as Discord glanced at the moon, “Wow! Luna’s night is so beautiful!”
Out of the corner of his eye he saw Celestia flying towards the east while Luna lowered the moon. Celestia returned to her room and headed down to Discord’s room. Celestia signaled to the Royal Guards to let her into Discord's room. When she entered his room and saw he was out on the balcony, looking over the garden where he once was trapped in stone.
“So…how did you sleep Discord?” She asked.
Discord turned back, “Oh good morning Celly, I haven’t slept like that in ages! How about yourself, how did you sleep?”
“I slept wonderfully now that I have one of my closest friends with me once more. I’ve missed you so much.”
“I’ve missed you too! So are we going to have breakfast this morning?”
“Why yes, yes we are!” Celestia exclaimed.
They headed down to the dining hall where they were joined by Luna. They sat at the table and ate their breakfast.
“Wow! I’ve haven’t had such delicious food in ages. I need to send my regards to the chef; he did a fine job preparing this meal” Discord took a sip of his chocolate milk and continued, “I can’t believe what you did to the palace; it looks better since the last time I saw it.”
“Aw! Thanks Discord! It took us decades after you disappeared to rebuild it! We love it as well!”
“So what are the plans for today, Celly?”
She looked at the clock then looked back at her friend, “Well, I’m waiting for some ponies that should arrive here any minutes now; they are going to help you adjust to the modern world.”
“Well I can’t wait to meet these ponies!” said Discord as he, Celestia and Luna walked around the garden while they waited for Twilight and her friends to arrive.
At the Canterlot train station, Twilight and the rest of the mane six arrived. They were tired from the long trip from Ponyville, and started to trotting off towards the palace. Twilight, who hadn't stopped panicking since they left Ponyville, began galloping faster and faster as the though of disappointing Princess Celestia by being late weighed heavy on her mind. As she raced quickly towards the castle her friends followed closely behind her.
“Sugarcube, wait for us! She is not going to send us to the dungeon if we are late a tad bit late. She’ll understand that Tom slowed us down.” Applejack looked at Rarity while Rarity rolled her eyes at her. Twilight began to slow down and giggle.
“Fine, let’s all blame it Tom.”
“I thought I said we shall never speak of that again!” Rarity yelled at the group as they giggled. They had finally arrived at the palace, the royal guard was blocking the door.
“What business do you have here at the palace?”
“Hello. My name is Twilight Sparkle, and I have an urgent matter to attend to with the Princesses.”
“Ah yes, sorry Miss Sparkle, I didn't recognize you at first. Let me get the door for you!” The guard opened the door for the group and they headed into the palace. They dropped off their things in the main lobby.
She asked one of the royal guards, “Um, excuse me, where can I find Princess Celestia?”
“She went on a walk with Discord and her sister, they shall be back momentarily.”
Discord was taking his time sightseeing and was facinated with what he saw. As the walked Celestia was lost in though; she would eventually have to tell Discord about his past as the Lord of Chaos. She smiled at him, and they began to head back into the palace towards Celestia's room. On her way she told one of the guards to bring Twilight and her friends up to here room.
“Miss Sparkle, the princess is ready for you and your friends; she is up in her room.”
“Thanks! C’mon girls! Let’s go see the Princess.” Twilight signaled to the rest of the ponies and they headed up. Twilight knocked on the door.
“Please come in!” Celestia exclaimed.
Twilight and her friends entered the room. As they entered, they noticed Celestia, Luna, and Discord on the balcony. As the Princesses turned around to greet their guests, Discord hid himself behind Celestia, terrified of the six ponies who had just entered.
Why are the ponies that tried to attack me here? Why did Celly invite them here?
“Hello, my little ponies. I know this is on short notice, but this is an urgent matter. We need you to help our dear frined Discord to adjust to our world.”
“WHAT?!” Discord and Twilight yelled.
Twilight had her theories; she knew that Discord was just playing a trick on them. She knew that he just wanted to befriend the princesses, then takeover the kingdom.
“Twilight Sparkle, I know that you don’t want to do this, but Discord has changed. Just give him a second chance.” Celestia plead.
“Fine…I’m only doing this for you Princess Celestia, not Discord.”
Celestia looked at Discord, “Discord, let me introduce you to the ponies who will be assisting you. This is Applejack, she represents the element of honesty." She pointed to the orange mare with the yellow mane and tail wearing a hat
“Howdy, nice to meet ya Discord!”
“This is Fluttershy, the element of kindness." She pointed to the yellow mare with the light pink mane and tail. She had been hiding behind Rainbow Dash.
“Um…hi…”
“This is Pinkie Pie, the element of laughter. She is the pink mare with the cotton candy mane."
“Hiya Discord, can you make some more cotton candy clouds and make it rain chocolate milk? PLEASE!!!!”
“I guess…” He used his magic to make cotton candy clouds and made it rain chocolate rain as Pinkie Pie rushed under the cloud to drink it up.
“This is Rarity, the element of generosity." She pointed towards the white mare with the luxurious amethyst mane and tail.
“Why hello, Discord, you are looking so marvelous today!”
Discord blushed a bit as Celestia continued, “This is Rainbow Dash, she represents the element of loyalty. She is the sky blue mare with the rainbow colored mane and tail. She is quite the flyer."
“Hey there Discord!”
“And finally, I present to you my faithful student, Twilight Sparkle, she is the element of magic. She is the purple mare with the navy mane with a pink highlight."
“Hello Miss Sparkle!” Discord walked towards everypony and shake their hoofs, except for Twilight. She was being very rude towards Discord. Celestia looked over at Twilight, and Twilight finally went over and shook Discord's hoof.
“Well then. All I need from each of you to have some personal time with Discord and help him adjust to our time. That is all; you can all have the day to yourself here in Canterlot. Fluttershy, you will start tomorrow.”
Luna, Discord, and the rest of Twilight’s friends started to head out of Celestia’s room.
Rainbow Dash stopped Discord and asked him, "So do you have an awesome name that we can call you rather than "Discord"? Do you remember what you were called back before Equestria was created?"
The draconequus pondered, "Hmmm, I think so, but I can't really remember. If I do remember, I'll tell you all!"
Twilight trotted toward Celestia.
“Princess Celestia, I was wondering if I could have a word with you in private?”
“Why yes, what do you need Twilight, ask away.”
“Well…I was wondering if you could tell me a bit more of you and Discord back when he was good. I was just curious.”
“Oh…” Celestia paused, “Well, let’s just say we use to be the best of friends until…”
“Until…what?” Twilight asked.
“It’s quite a long story, do you have time now? I can tell it to you but you must keep it a secret.”
“I cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my…ow!” Twilight yelled as she poked herself in the eye.
“Was that Pinkie Pie’s famous Pinkie Pie Swear? Are you okay?” Celestia giggled.
“Yes, yes it is. I promise to keep it a secret.”
“Well, it all started back when Equestria was young…..”
It was a sunny day in Equestria. Celestia, Luna and Discord were in the lake, cooling down after a very hot day. Celestia had her pink mane all wet from Discord splashing water at her. Luna was under a tree napping in the shade.
“Discord, stop!” Celestia yelled while she was blocked him from splashing her more
“You’re no fun Celly!” Discord giggled as he continued to splash water at her.
Celestia finally decided to teleport herself onto the shore and she dried herself off with a towel. Discord was still in the water; he put on a puppy face and looked at Celestia.
“Celly, you don’t like me splashing water at you?
“It isn’t that, it’s just I need to take a break, I might catch some rays.”
Luna woke up from her nap and looked at Celestia, “You’re never going to have a tan!”
Celestia yelled at her sister, “LUNA, Sush!”
Luna giggled and went back to sleep. Discord walked onto the shore and lay down on his towel. He grabbed his sunglasses and put them on. Celesia snuck into the lake and used her hoofs to splashed water onto Discord. Discord was all wet, and he was shivering. Celestia look at him and trotted over and covered him in her towel. She hugged him, and he began to blush.
“I’m sorry Discord! I didn’t mean to get you cold. Do you forgive me?”
“You know I’ll always forgive you Celly!” He didn’t want her to stop hugging him. He wanted this feeling to last forever. He began to feel butterflies in his stomach. Celestia finally let go of him. For the rest of the day he was day-dreaming; he began to grow feelings for her.
A couple of weeks passed by. Discord wanted to ask Celestia if she’d be her marefriend, but he was nervous and he didn’t want to lose her a friend. He finally had the guts to tell her. He had bought some flowers and a banana cake for her since she loved eating bananas and cake. He bought himself a nice bowtie; he wanted to look good for her. He walked over to her home.and knocked on the door. Celestia opened the door.
“Hey Discord, you look quite handsome this evening? What’s the special occasion?”
“Oh…there is a special occasion, but I won’t say what it is."
“C’mon Discord, tell me!”
“Well…Celly, you have been a great friend to me. I wish our friendship would last forever…” Discord started to sweat.
“And?” Celestia questioned.
“I love you Celly, I want you to be my marefriend.” He handed her the flowers and the banana cake to her. She used her magic to pick them up. She was in shock and had no idea what to say to him.
“Discord, please sit down. I have something to say before I tell you my answer.”
Discord sat down, “What’s wrong? What did I say?”
“Oh nothing, it’s just that it’s not going to work out between us. I’m a princess, I have duties to attend. I don’t have time for a relationship, especially now that I and Luna are building a kingdom. I’m sorry Discord, I have to say no.”
Discord had tears coming out of his eyes, he quickly was filled with rage, he flipped the table, and looked at Celestia.
“THANKS A LOT FOR NOTHING, I THOIUGHT YOU HAD THE SAME FEELINGS TOWARDS ME. I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME! I’M LEAVING, I HOPE YOUR KINGDOM FALLS!” Discord opened the door, left, and slammed it shut on his way out. Celestia could hear him crying, and suddenly the crying stopped. Celestia opened the door, and Discord was nowhere to be found. He had left for good.
Celestia cried, “I just lost my best friend, what have I done!”
“After that, Discord went on a rampage, he created chaos all over Equestria. He didn’t stop even after I apologized to him. That’s when we took matters into our own hands and imprisoned him as a statue. “
”So do you think that his memory was erased before he asked you out?”
“Yes, I think that is what the elements did to him.”
“Wow, well that was quite a story. It seems it’s time for me to leave; I’m getting a bit hungry. See you later Princess!”
“Bye my faithful student.” Twilight left the room and Celestia was looking at an old painting where Discord and Celestia were together. She smiled at it. She was glad that she had her friend back.
It was evening; Discord had finished his dinner and headed towards his chambers. He was escorted by some royal guards just in case he tried to do something mischievous.After entering his room, Discord walked over towards his balcony. From there, he had a great view of the great maze located in the back of the palace. While surveying the gardens, Discord heard a knock on his door, so he walked over to go answer it.
“Discord, it’s me. Lu-Lu. May I come into your chambers?”
“Why, of course!” Discord opened the door and Luna walked into the room. “How are you doing this fine evening Lu-Lu?”
“I’m doing quite well, just getting ready to raise the moon. I just wanted to stop by and ask you if you would join me later. I want to talk to you alone. How does that sound?”
“Hmm, that sounds good to me.”
Luna headed for the balcony, “I’ve told the guards that you’ll be out with me for a bit. Let me raise the moon and I’ll meet you in the gardens.”
“Alright Lu-Lu. I’ll see you there!”
Later that night, Discord found himself flying towards the gardens. While he waited on Luna to arrive, Discord looked up into the sky and saw the moon moving up into the sky. Shortly after the moon had stopped moving, Discord saw Luna making her way over to where he was.
“Hey Lu-Lu! I must say, you’ve been doing a great job raising the moon.”
Luna blushed a bit. “Oh it is nothing. Shall we walk around?”
“Yes. So, what did you want to talk about my dear Lu-Lu?”
“Well, you know that I’m the Princess of the Night. I’ve seen your dreams. I know what your fear is.”
“Wait, you’ve been in my dreams? Then you know my secret?”
“I’m sorry for intruding, but yes. I do know your secret.”
“I just don’t want to lose her. She means everything to me. I’m afraid to ask her out.”
“Trust me Discord, you won’t lose her. She has spent the last thousand years trying to get you back so you could be together once more. You’ve been a great friend to both of us."
They stopped walking and sat at a bench in the gardens.
“Loki…Does this name sound familiar to you Discord?”
Discord shook his head.
“Well let me tell you where that came from…"
Luna began to recollect the first time she had met Discord for the first time.
Celestia and Luna were wandering around Equestria. They were always eager befriend new visitors that would enter Equestria. One day they noticed a draconequus family; they were headed to a nearby village. The two alicorns flew towards the family.
“Hello, my name is Celestia and this is my sister, Luna. We would like to welcome you to our land!” Both Celestia and Luna smiled at the family.
“Well, thank you for welcoming us! My name is Farbaut, this is my wife, Laufey and my son, Loki.”
Loki looked at the two alicorns, he had never seen ponies in his life. He was very eager to meet new people.
“Hi! My name is Loki. I’m new here!”
“Well, hello Loki. Welcome to our land! I’ll let you settle down first. Why don’t you come to our home and have supper? We love having company over!” Celestia pointed her hoof toward their home.
Loki’s father smiled at the two alicorns. “We’ll take you up on that offer. Thanks!”
Celestia was in charge of cutting up the ingredients while Luna was taking care of cooking the food. Suddenly, Celestia stopped cutting.
“Sister, why did you stop cutting?”
Celestia giggled, “Loki seems like a cute pony.”
“Oh Sis, at least try to befriend him first. He doesn’t know anybody here except for us.”
“You’re right Sis, but it’s time for me to find myself a special somepony that cares for me.”
“I know but take it slow, you don’t to scare the poor guy.”
“Okay…”
Loki and his family had recently bought a home in Equestria. They left their old home due to famine. Their lands had been dry for many years, families we’re dying of hunger. Luckily, his parents saved enough for the trip and the home.
They opened the door to their new home. It was a small house with only two rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a small living room. Loki ran into his new room, and with a snap of his fingers he unpacks his stuff. Most of his stuff was magic items. He was a bit of a magician and a trickster, but he wanted to leave that behind since he had a new beginning and some new friends.
His father knocked on his door, “So, how do you like it son?”
“I love it dad. I have some more space to practice my magic!”
“I’m glad that you were okay with the move. Get yourself ready for supper.”
“I will dad! See you in a bit!” Loki went into the bathroom and took a shower.
“Hold on a sec Lu-Lu! My real name is Loki? I thought it was Discord?”
“Yes, your name is Loki. We called you Discord because it was a nickname we gave you. Since you called us Celly and Lu-Lu, we gave you one as well.”
“Ah, one more question. I had parents?”
“You did, they were the nicest beings that I have ever met.”
“Why can’t I remember them then?”
“It’s your amnesia. Your memory has been erased. Those memories will come back to you in due time. For now, I just wanted to see if you remembered who you truly are.”
“Okay, Luna…” He shed a tear; he wanted to know who his parents were.
“I think we should head back before Celly suspects something.” Luna flew up to her chambers and Discord teleported to his room. After arriving back in his room, Discord yawned and layed down on his bed and went to sleep knowing tomorrow would be a new day.
Celestia was waiting for Luna to return, and Luna was surprised to see her sister there.
“Sister, may I ask what you’re doing here?”
“I was just coming to check in on you and noticed you were out. What were you doing out so late?”
“Nothing much Sis, I was just taking a stroll in the garden.”
“Just give it up Luna. You were with him weren’t you?”
Luna sighed, “Yes, I was. It was for a good reason. I think we might have Loki back.”
When Luna said Discord’s former name, it send chills down Celestia’s spine. She hadn’t heard that name in ages. “You told him his birthname? I thought we agreed we’d never mention that to him. I don’t want him to be emotionally wrecked! Please tell you didn’t mention his parents…”
“Slip of the tongue?”
Celestia facehoofed, “Luna, what have you done! There’s a reason why we locked those memories up: so that he wouldn’t remember his parents! ”
