Knock Knock!

Rainbow Dash groaned.“Can you come back in a few hours?!” she yelled.

She waited for a few seconds, and hearing nothing, started to go to sleep again.

“Knock Knock, anypony home?” called the voice from Rainbow’s front door again. “Rainbow, you in there?”

“Can you come back in a few hours!?!” Rainbow yelled.

“What was that?” called a chirpy voice.

“PINKIE! CAN YOU COME BACK IN A FEW HOURS?!?”

“How am I supposed to come back in a few towers? I don’t think Celestia will want me taking the towers off her castle.”

Rainbow sighed. “Alright, I’m coming.”

She rolled over–and almost onto the floor. She barely was able to use her wings in time to avoid it. She walked over to her front door.

Pinkie Pie was floating in front of the Cloudominium’s front door in her hot-air balloon. She laughed. “Look who’s still in her pajamas.”

Rainbow glanced down at her pajamas, which had pictures of each of the Wonderbolts on them; the Wonderbolts were Equestria’s best flyers.

“Alright Pinkie, what do you have for me?”

“A letter from the Princess!”

Rainbow snatched the scroll out of Pinkie's hoof, far more awake, and looked at the address. Sure enough it read:

From: Celestia

To: Rainbow Dash

Receiving address: Cloudominium

Sender address: Canterlot

“Wow!” said Rainbow, unrolling the scroll. Inside was an invitation to the Running of the Leaves.

“What’s in it?” asked Pinkie Pie, trying to look at the note.

“An invitation to the Running of the Leaves!” said Rainbow, striking a pose. “I’m awesome, I’m awesome, I’m so awesome the Princess invited me to the biggest event of the sea-son!”

Pinkie laughed. “Well, Applejack got an invitation too! I think. Anyways, I’d better be off to deliver it!”

Rainbow glanced at Pinkie’s bag, which was full of scrolls. “Doesn’t Spike send all the scrolls in Ponyville?”

“Well, he's busy today,” said Pinkie. “So, I’m delivering the mail today! Bye!”

Rainbow waved and closed the front door.

For the past three falls, Rainbow had watched the Running of the Leaves. It was a race, designed to cause the leaves to fall off the trees. Ever since Applejack had won last fall, Rainbow Dash had set her main goal: to be invited to the race–and win it.

She quickly changed out of her pajamas, and into her regular clothes, before heading out of her house and clearing the clouds from the sky. She could clear all the clouds in Ponyville in ten seconds, but the thought that she’d actually been invited to the Running of the Leaves kept getting her distracted. By the time she’d finally finished, it was lunch.

“I’ll go to Applejack,” thought Rainbow, “and maybe get an apple.” She started heading towards Sweet Apple Acres.

At which point, several more clouds floated over Ponyville, pouring rain.

“Are you kidding me? More clouds?”
